Be sure to read THE GATHERING first to avoid confusion.
Aiden MacGregor gets a second chance at life and finds himself enchanted with the fairylike girl who believes in magic, moonbeams, and dancing in the rain. Free-spirit cartoonist Zoey Barnes has been waiting for her fate. As a teen her Aunt Thea foretold that the love of Zoey’s life would appear to her—but at 25 years of age, she’s tired of waiting. Internet dating, crazy cats, and a stalker later, the love of her life finally appears. She wants forever and a day. Too bad he can only give her two.
Diane Darcy loves to read and write lighthearted and funny books. She’s a member of the Heart of the West, and RWA. She was a finalist for Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart® Award. This is a fun, clean Scottish romance. After a horrendous battle took his life 200 years ago, warrior Aiden is given a short chance at mortality to do a good deed. He rescues Zoey, but isn't sure his duty is complete, so sticks close to protect her. Zoey is hilarious in the sweetest way. She loves life and is brimming with happy thoughts. For Aiden who's been dead inside as long as he's been dead in body, Zoey's zest for life is as irresistable as Zoey herself. I like seeing the way each thinks and perceives the world. The Scottish honor, the happy-go-lucky vibe - it's a great combination. I like how Aiden tries to solve problems in a modern world, and how she goes along with it, mostly. Very funny, very enjoyable.
I love this series about the ghosts of Culdoon Moor, and Aidan and Zoey are my new favorites. Ever since she was sixteen and her kooky aunt told her that her true love would appear, Zoey has been watching and waiting for him. When she got tired of waiting, she moved to the city and started a campaign of online dating. When that becomes a dangerous game, Aidan, a Scottish warrior comes to her rescue. Is he the one she's been waiting for? I loved Zoey and Aidan. Zoey was a breath of fresh air with her innocence and enthusiasm for life. Aidan was sweetly protective, and watching his reactions to modern things, like the evil wee contraption that guards the paper towels, was hilarious! If you like ghost stories, clean romances, or witty authors, this book is for you. As it is part of a series, you should definitely read The Gathering first. You would also enjoy Gareth (about Aidan's brother), but you don't need to read it first. I can't wait for more! Bring on the 79!

Love at first sight. Aiden decides it's his "good deed" to get a male for Zoe. So we go through the whole business of finding her someone.
Then she takes him home and confronts her Aunt Thea.
(Andrew McDermot's Scottish is great, but his American accents leave a lot to be desired - all the men sound like a California "dude." Jenn Mcuirk's Scottish is also very good. But listening to her do Zoe's voice was like a bratty teenager, and her delivery was choppy.)
This is book 9 in the series. You will want to read the first short story, The Gathering, for the background of the Muir witch before you start the rest of the series. After that, each one can be read as a standalone .
I love Aiden and Zoey's story! After watching his angry older brother, Gareth (book 5), agree to the witches task, he figures that it must be something they each will have to do. He is so very different from his brother. Aiden is very sweet, and noble. He doesn't understand that his fate is standing right in front of him. There is still one brother left, Liam. I hope to get to his story soon. I am really anxious to see if the brothers are reunited. I certainly hope so!
Aiden (The Ghosts of Culloden Moor #9), my second read from author Diane Darcy. My wife is a Scottish romance reader & sometimes the books she reads influence me. A well-written short read, and the ninth book in this ongoing series. I'll read more from this author & in this series, but what really got me going was narrator Andrew McDermott, I love his Irish brogue. Co-narrator Jenn McGuirk added to the enjoyment of the book. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Aiden is the 9th book in the series. Each book originates from the ghosts of 79 people who died at Culloden. However, each story is unique, and focuses on the specific ghost. Each ghost must complete a noble deed. Aiden lands in modern America, and runs into Zoey. Zoey is using online dating, trying to find her match. She is a happy person, easy going, and has a naïve innocence about her. Aiden was an old soul long before he died. Aiden tries to contend with modern ideas and problems, using old ways to resolve them. In the end Aiden is Zoey’s perfect match. The story is well written and interesting. The characters are well developed. Narration is excellent, I love the Scottish brogue.
This is the ninth novella in The Ghosts of Culloden Moor Series, a Scottish Paranormal Romance. I love this series! Aiden and Zoey's story is beautifully written, fun, sweet, clean, and heartwarming. Aiden is handsome and protective. Zoey is a fantastic character, hilarious, and kind. Andrew McDermott and Jenn McGuirk did an excellent job bringing these characters and this story to life. This is another amazing addition to the series. I enjoyed it.

Zoey's aunt foretold she would find true love when she was 25 and now, she has been waiting for him. Aiden lost his life in the battle at Culloden Moor. The Muir which has offered him a chance to be alive to complete a good deed and he will receive his reward, that will allow him to move on. Aiden thinks his job is to find Zoey a husband and Zoey knows Aiden is her fated mate. What's a girl to do when her one true love won't listen to her.

So far I think I like this 1 the best out of the series. Aiden is such a Hulking hero jumping in to save his fated one from a horrific attack.
Zoey is such a free innocent soul I loved her. My favorite line in the book! “Our children shall dance in the rain. They shall eat cake at midnight and pound on drums. They shall have cats, dogs, gerbils, and ferrets. And will play in the mud like pigs. They will laugh and smile and know they are loved.”
This is part of the ghost of the "Culloden Moor" series and is probably best if you read them in order. Definitely read the "Gathering" first because it sets everything up. This is a good story, that develops nicely. It is interesting and intriguing with good narration. This one is about Aiden, Zoey, second chances and magical fate. I really enjoyed how this one develops.
Zoey found her fate and Aiden found his! Beautifully written story; full of danger, hope and love! Loved the characters. Zoey and her family are lovely and of course our Highlander Aiden is, honest, strong, protective & loving!🥰❤️🏴
The stories are so amazing. Each one touches the heart! Can't get enough. Such a pleasure to read! Diane has woven another spell binding tale! Sincere Thanks!
This is Aiden’s story of romance and adventure. It is fun, happy and sad in parts. It is a clean read. I loved this story so much. I read it in one setting.
MacGregor just wanted to feel something he's just been a watcher for so long seen so many different things has had time to think about what if. Now's his time his number was called he remembers his name is Aiden MacGregor and he has found his what if. So Cool thinking of meeting his brother's never know what you might find on line. Great read. Looking forward to seeing next from the ghosts of Muldoon.
Aiden MacGregor hears a girl scream and sees her being attacked by a Snake man. LOL He goes immediately to her rescue with no weapon but his fist. Zoey is so relieved that has been rescued and by none other than her "fated one". He appears suddenly and basically sweeps her off her feet or so it goes in her mind. Now she has to convince him that she is his mate for life and not just for a little while and fight off this crazy who thinks she is for him. LOVED IT!
Another MacGregar makes his mark from Culloden....
This is a MacGregar I loved from the start! I could not wait for his quest to run its course! I liked the way the author drew us into Zoey's quest for her fated one and how she knew he was the one! I especially liked the feeling of clan that is evident in her family and hometown community!
It was a pleasure to read about Gareth's brother Aidan. However, this novella had several editing errors that became annoying. I love that Adian is trying to find his brothers. I hope when I get to Liam's tale, the 3 MacGregors are reunited.
