When she was accidentally pushed into a wormhole, Allorah ‘Al’ Maines never imagined she’d be thrown back in time, land at the feet of a gorgeous Highlander… and be taken as his prisoner.
Al is awestruck by the savage Scot who chained her up in his dungeon. But once she emerges from her cell, she finds herself even more captivated by the roguish Highlander he’s transformed into.
An undeniably enticing manifestation of all her secret fantasies. Ones she’s tempted to explore. However, regardless of what the fairytales say, Al knows passion fades and lust dies. Keeping her heart intact and planning for a future on her own is the only way their story can end.
If all women in the twenty-first century were as stubborn as Allorah Maines, Keir MacCoinnach wept for the future of man. Nay, he despaired for them. She’s utterly obtuse, difficult, aggravating… and quite possibly the most fascinating woman he’d ever met. Al offers him an intriguing peek into the future. Keeping her by his side is the key to the knowledge of the ages. Keeping her in his bed and in his heart is the key to a life of love and joy.
But can Keir convince Al to share that life with him before she walks away forever? Can he prove to her the passion they discover between the sheets can surpass anything she’d ever found between the pages of her favorite novels?

I loved this! I love this genre- time travel historical romance- and this was a really good one. Both main characters are good and it was a bit of a slow burn. They talked and built a friendship. I'm absolutely going to read more from this author. I want to find out what happen to Hugh. Happy reading!
I don't know how the H will turn out later but I can't get over his manhandling of the h and all his threatening going on. I don't want my H's to treat the h like that. He freaking choked her, threw her on his horse until she passed out, and tied her in his dungeon and started scaring her with his knife and torture talk. Hell no.
And to top it off the stupid h is romanticizing all his actions and comparing everything to her romance novels and it's just so ridiculous!
At any time, all a man needs for success and inspiration is a good woman...
Although a nobleman, a Laird, Keir MacCoinnach was also a scholar and warrior and through a laboratory accident, scientist, Al Maine found herself catapulted in time from 2013 to 1746 at the Battle of Culloden ending at his feet. At first angered and grieving he imprisoned her, but after time finding out from where she came from and what she knew (it didn't hurt that she was beautiful), they developed a rapport that advanced to love! What I liked most about this book was how the showed love changing and inspiring both characters to greater success. I was definitely seduced by Keir, I LIKE this book!
Allorah Maines works in the lab where they are creating wormholes to other times and places. She is there when Hugh and the red coat soldier come through from "A Time and Place for Every Laird". Hugh means to protect her but accidentally shoves her into the wormhole and into the highlands of history. Al knows there is no going back. She must find a way to restart her life in the past and with Hugh's cousin Keir.
I liked both the characters in this book. They had an interesting beginning, especially with everyone trying to punish Al for Hugh's death. Unfortunately, the middle of the book dragged for me and it was focused too much on their lust and lovemaking without moving the story forward. Once you get through that lull, I was happy with the ending.
Loved this couple in the series 💛. Both MC were awesome and so well matched. H is a ruggedly handsome Scottish warrior an h was a beautiful blonde pocket Venus (she thought herself too plump with all her curves). h is accidentally transported through time to the past where H sees his cousin fall through the hole when she comes out. H is devastated his cousin is gone and hits the ground where the hole closes up calling for his cousin. So H lashes out to h because she knows what happened to his cousin h doesn’t know what to say to H so he locks her up in the dungeon until she talks. She suffers 4 days and nights in the cold rat infested cell unit H remembers her when he returns home from traveling. H is so remorseful when he sees what he’s done to her he starts treating h like an honored guest. She slowly begins to recover and then begins their dance. They were both scientists although in different times so they understood each other. H gives her the attention and love she has never had and gives h confidence in herself. He has never met anyone much less a woman who’s scientifically bent to discuss all his theories and thoughts and gets him. They become lovers but h doesn’t expect anything permanent to come from it so she starts planning what she will do once he lets her go. There is a key battle to free H clansmen who are imprisoned by the English. h helps and H gets everyone out including his father (who is a traitor) who cares only for himself. With the fright of having almost lost each other in the battle they afterwards come together and he proposes to her. She is then given the option to return to her life in the present but she doesn’t think twice as she rejects the idea. She has found true love and will hold on tight to her future in the past. They get their HEA. I enjoyed this book 📕 and would recommend it.

Fourth in the Shirtless Kilted Men series (i.e. A Laird for All Time series), and I really enjoyed this story, too. First, the fcm knows exactly what has happened to her when she is thrown backwards in time (she is a scientist who worked on the technology who sent the mmc forward in time in Book 2, and essentially traded places with him), and she also didn't waste too much time before telling the mmc in her book what was up - and he believed her. Very Jamie and Claire (after a fashion). Another cool thing about this book is that the consequences of all this time travel start to be seen - hinted at at the end of the last book, and the complications are not small. It's back to the female narrator, too, and I like her more.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible Membership)
This is an enlargement on episode two in this series, where a red coat and Highlander both fell through a wormhole created in laboratory for the purposes of the US military. This episode shows that two were drawn in, and one was thrown out back to the Scottish field on which a bloody battle had just been fought. What happens next has been told very well by the author, much better than my poor synapses could ever do.
Al and Keir meet under unusual circumstances. Not the best of conditions but it ties in with the book,A Time And A Place For Every Laird, which involves his friend Hugh. If you read this book you know what happens to Hugh and where Big Al comes from. Read this excellent story and enjoy as there is humor, action and lots of romance!
Wonderful storytelling with a twist of time and space.
Allorah and Keir's story is a thrilling tale of war and love when she is thrown through a wormhole straight into Keir's world and dungeon. I love reading Angeline Fortin's exciting tales of time travel and love found unexpectedly. It's a great story to read and enjoy and well worth the adventure she brings to her tale.
I had to actually SKIP the third book in the series because the narrator was SO BAD. But this one was nice; I didn't have to finish the third book in order to understand this book since they're only loosely related. It was more of an echo of the first book, though the ending was slightly different. Finally, the series seems to be tying itself together (slowly but still very loosely).
The story did not hold me. I think because she only time traveled 300 years back and she really had no struggles. They got along fine and had a lot in common. Sometimes I skipped pages of astrological/science tech talk.
I prefer my time travel to go back in time to kilt wearing, bride stealing, sword swinging highlanders lol
Narrator was great. Loved the accents. This was a sweet & spicy pallet cleanser in between some heavier reads. A delicious amount of tease and angst without being a slow burn or instalove. The only thing that became tiresome was the FMC's habit of reiterating how "this wouldn't last" after an enjoyable moment with the MMC.
All of the books in this series are so similar that they have become completely anticlimactic for me. I might need to wait a bit before finishing this series... maybe it will be more enjoyable at that point.
This series is fantastic!!! I cannot wait to read the next book!!! I truly would recommend this book!!! Very easy to read!!! I hope there are more books like this.
Nerdy Allorah "Al" (I really don't like that nickname) had plenty of ideas to improve her new time. She was the perfect match for scientific Keir. After some horrible treatment at first, Allorah was treated like a queen, except by his crazy family.
Good but not as good as some of her others to me. 4 stars Coz I can't give 3.5.
Ms. Fortin's time travel stories are some of the Best I've read some of my favorites, but this one just didn't really do it for me... Ok I must admit that Hugh's story is one of the few books in her time travel series I haven't read, and while I think it might have helped to have read it 1st, I seriously doubt it would have changed my feeling here all that much..... While on one hand I felt in some ways I seriously got Al in some ways , while not a scientist I am a very analytical person and being an Artist with a VERY vivid and a very active (like I can barely turn it down to do others things at times ;) ) imagination and like her it can be easy to get lost in my own head etc. and I also know what it's like to insecure and not always know my own worth, all that aside though I felt it harder than connect and understand at times not easier... Al and Keir's meeting and start was rocky to say the VERY LEAST but I just never connect to or liked her... I can't say why but even to me the reader she felt aloof somehow... I adored Keir ! I mean he was the total package Brains and Brawn, Sexy and Sweet, Alpha but yet kind and perceptive I mean he had it all, except got d communication skills... They both lacked that BIG TIME!!! I Loathe it when the main friction in a story to be miscommunication , I hate when all two reasonable characters need to do is sit down and talk for 5 minutes and save us all chapters of headache or heartache, not that we had any real heart ache thankfully, but I just didn't like as much as I'd hoped but I'd definitely recommend it and I can't wait to read more. Thank Ms. Fortin
The twist on this time travel romance made it really stand out as unique among the many time travel books I've had the pleasure to read. Mrs. Fortin fills her stories with historical details as well as slipping in a few "what ifs" to stir the readers creativity and imagination making them begin to consider true events in life, and how one different move could have changed history. Though Scotland has some exceedingly sad and devastating history, there has always been their indomitable spirit. This is a must read if you enjoy time travel possibilities and are of a curious nature! I'd highly recommend this book as well as all the others Mrs. Fortin has written for our entertainment.
So... I tried - I really did. And I know many Highland romance readers love Angeline Fortin. But she's just not my cup of tea. But when you agree to be a judge, you have to give it your best shot.
Can I just say that I had to keep reminding myself that I needed to finish this book? If I hadn't, it would be on the DNF shelf.
Why? You'd think it'd be right up my alley - braw Highland Scot, time travel, romance.... but somehow, everything just feels wrong. While the author goes to great lengths to make it all believable that our Hero and Heroine could fall in love and stay in love (all in the name of Science!), the story just wasn't the kind that made me want to turn the page.
Oh, if I could only travel back in time and meet Connor MacLean! Holy Moly...he was a Highlander to die for. I fell in love with him right along with Emmy. Time travel books can be really good or really bad. I enjoyed this one tremendously. There was humor, romance, passion and secrets revealed. It was definitely a page turner and I was engrossed from start to finish. I cried my eyes out at the end. I am eager to read the next book in the series.
What a fun series. I know I'm skipping around the series, but I couldn't resist reading this one. The moment I read the description I knew I would fall in love with these characters, and I did. Al is the perfect woman to go back in time. She's understanding and intelligent with her actions. Keir is rough at first, but a complete sweety at heart. I loved all the side characters, they really helped in moving the story forward. The ending was perfect, if a bit sad for one side character.
