Growing up wasn't easy for Lottie. As an only child with self-absorbed parents, she soon learned that the one person she could depend upon was herself. A brave face and defensive self-preservation kept her strong.
Then Lottie met Spike. He didn't see her little habits as frustrating; he embraced them. He didn't run from her fiery temper and sharp tongue; he admired her for her tenacity. He loved her and she loved him. And somehow, despite Lottie's reluctance to let her guard down, Spike King managed to burrow his way in to her gentle heart and penetrate that steely armour she surrounded herself with.
Then one night it all changed. A family vendetta. A life shattering hit and run. A moment that would change their lives forever.
Will their love be strong enough to pull them back together?
Or will the damage from that one fateful night keep them apart for ever?
Authors note: Spike and Lottie's story can be read as a stand alone. However, to appreciate their personalities and the journey they have been on to get to this book, you should really read Holding Aces (The Kingdom 1) and High Stakes (The Kingdom 2).
After reading the first two books in The Kingdom series, I was so excited to hear that Nikki Groom had given Lottie and Spike their own book! I love this pair! Lottie is a little fire ball and I was so eager to see what would become of her and Spike!
This is the third book in the series but it can be read as a standalone, however I recommend you read them all to get the full back story! Besides this is an epic series that nobody should miss out on reading!
Spike and Lottie are absolutely perfect together, but life as they know it has been turned upside down! Spike does what most stubborn men would do, and pushes the love of his life away. Really wanted to knock some sense into this foolish man!
The story takes place in Las Vegas, but we also get to visit the UK. Love the diversity!
I enjoyed this book so much, it's heartbreaking at times but also really uplifting to see that true love can overcome the hardest and most trying of times. We are taken on a very emotional roller coaster ride as the couple deal with heartbreak and huge changes. I'd love to hear more about Lottie and Spike, but I also feel that the author has left us with just the right amount of story to keep us guessing and maybe making our own ending up in our imaginations. It doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but does leave us guessing about the couples future lives and what will happen.
We meet a couple of new characters and one in particular I'd love to hear more about the sexy tattooed Brit -Torran. This man needs his own book!
Heart wrenching, soulful , emotional are just a few words to describe this novel.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This novel is # 3 in The Kingdom Series (Holding Aces & High Stakes)
This book can be read as a standalone but I would encourage you to read the complete series to truly get a feel for all of the characters as each play an integral part in Spike’s healing. The author brings us the story of Spike & Lottie & their struggles to survive after the terrible tragedy at the end of Book 2 of The Kingdom Series – High Stakes – in which Spike was injured & in turn became paralyzed. It shows us the strength & will to survive & the things we will sacrifice for love.
The author did a phenomenal job of portraying the emotions that the characters of Spike & Lottie were going through. Spike’s troubled soul will bring you many tears – tears of sorrow & tears of joy. Lottie is his anchor. Sometimes in life it takes a challenge to realize what things are important.
Ugghh, I found it very hard to write this review & not start tearing up. There are just no words to truly describe the story without spoilers. This novel is love & romance in its purest form. You must read it to fully appreciate what the author has given us. Simply put – sigh……………..
I feel drained ! This book has had me crying tears of sadness and tears of joy, I have no more tears left ! But every tear spilled was so worth it, this book is Nikki Groom!s finest hour. I believe this book can be read as a standalone - not sure why you'd want to miss out on Arianna and Denham's story but you could. If you have read book 2 you'd know that this book was going to be difficult to read. In the two previous books Spike has been the life and soul of the party, not taking life to seriously enjoying his time with his mad girlfriend Lottie but a tragic accident strips Spike of who he is, he finds himself in a position where he doesn't know himself anymore or where he fits in. So he does what he thinks is best, he pushes the people who care about him the most the furthest away. Including Lottie. Even though I spent a lot of this book crying I really loved it, I loved the emotion, I loved Spike's fight, I loved Lottie's sass, I loved that Spike didn't get cured but learn to live a different life, I loved Nikki's superb writing so much so that I didn't even notice the lack of sex scenes, this book didn't need them that's how powerful a story this book is ! I loved this book and so will you !
*I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review* This is the third book in the The Kingdom series and even though it can be read as a standalone, I believe I would have understood more if I had read the previous two books. With that being said, I did enjoy reading Lottie and Spike’s story. This is a story with issues of depression, grief, anger, and tragedy that leaves you with a feeling of hope.
Lottie is loyal, stubborn, and believes in the ability to face anything with Spike by her side. Her and Spike have endured an unspeakable tragedy that has left Spike paralyzed both body and soul. He is angry at the world and does not want to trap Lottie in his handicapped, negative world. So he pushes her away until she cannot withstand it anymore and ends up across the ocean. While Lottie is flying across the world to find her new identity without Spike, he is having to deal with the loss of both Lottie and the use of his legs.
This is a story of encouragement, facing our demons, and perseverance. I highly recommend for a love that conquers all, read. The love between Lottie and Spike is gut wrenching, heart felt, and real.
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. This is the third book in the Kingdom series, and can be read as a standalone, but in all honesty, do yourself a favour, and read the complete series. This is the story of Spike and Lottie, who we met in previous books. This is a short, sweet, but emotional read. I loved it, and I recommend Nikki’s work for all. Cannot wait to read more of this authors work.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The third book in The Kingdom Series (Holding Aces & High Stakes)
You can read this as a standalone book, however, I believe it is better to read the first two books as it will give you a better insight to all the characters and the story as it played out.
I was so happy to find out we were finally getting Lottie and Spike’s story and how their relationship would survive after horrible circumstances.
This was a heart wrenching story, I don’t mind admitting that from the beginning to the end I had tears constantly in my eyes with the struggles, heartache and determination these two have, not to mention the unconditional love which flows through them and onto each and every page.
Spike who is terribly injured thinks he is doing the right thing by pushing Lottie away, after all she is so energetic, a force or nature so to speak that he feels he cannot drag her down and hinder her life with him stuck in the position he is. Lottie is devastated and heartbroken and at the beginning so stubborn to show Spike she can deal with things, however, as time went on, the more Spike felt he was doing the right thing by pushing Lottie away from him. Lottie does the only thing she can and decides to move half way across the world to London to try and find a new life. NOOOOOOO I heard myself say numerous times but yes she did.
Although Spike was distraught he always made sure that Lottie was looked after. What he didn’t want to admit to anyone not even himself was how much he loved Lottie and how much he missed her. He was a typical stubborn man who was scared to admit to his true feelings and I loved him for that but was also very angry with him for doing that to Lottie.
The torment these two went through was heart-breaking, you could see how much they meant to each other but also how they struggled to just admit this to each other and to be with the other person because they thought they were doing the right thing!
I loved how the author brought into this story the characters from the other two books and combined everyone together, it was great and left so much room for any future novella’s or books from this clan.
Ok so I get that books make you cry however who cries whilst writing a review? Well apparently as of now, I do! The minute I think about how I felt whilst reading Lovestrong tears fill my eyes. This book was beyond epic for me. I felt invested in Lottie's story long before her story was even a story. Right from the beginning of Holding aces I fell in love with her, she was the perfect best friend to Ari, in fact in a review of the earlier books I believe I called her the best friend we all want to be. She's so full of life and just an all round strong ass woman it's hard not to love her. Her relationship with Spike is beautiful and effortless even as side characters in the previous books their love shines through. Spike's a great guy, he's the life and soul of the party and it's easy to see that he and Lottie are perfect for each other.
What happened to that perfect relationship at the end of high stakes broke my heart. I sobbed at the cruel way of the world and implored Nikki to write more, I needed to know what happened in the aftermath. I knew it wouldn't be pretty but even still I wasn't prepared for the sadness I'd feel in Lovestrong, watching Spike push Lottie away broke me, if ever I felt a need to make it all better for a book character it was for these two beautiful souls that had their happiness ripped away.
Whilst Lovestrong can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading holding aces and high stakes first to get a feel for the characters and just because those books kick ass too.
Huge props to Nikki for making me feel so invested in these characters so much so I've spent time planning how I'd like their lives to pan out in my head! This is a book that won't only stay with me for a while it'll stay with me forever.
Overall I loved the emotion there's nothing better than an author who makes you 'feel'. Although the tears and the heartbreak made me sad the writing was beautiful, I won't tell you whether all the pain was worth it in the end that's for you to decide...what are you waiting for? Go read it :)
After reading the first two books in The Kingdom series, I was so excited to hear that Nikki Groom had given Lottie and Spike their own book! I love this pair! Lottie is a little fire ball and I was so eager to see what would become of her and Spike!

I have waited for this book for sometime know. I so wanted to see what was going to happen with Spike and Lottie.
You have to read the first 2 books in order to get Lovestrong. You get the feel of Lottie and Spike in those books. You also know what happened to Spike in book 2.
With Lottie doing everything she can to help Spike after his accident he just pushes her away. Lottie has to find her way and in doing so she leaves. She has to find herself before her and Spike can move forward.
Spike knows Lottie deserves more than what he is giving. Pushing her away is just breaking his heart. He is being the bigger person as he see's it. Once Lottie leaves Spike is miserable. He snaps at everyone and everything. He feels he was dealt the wrong card in live. Instead of living with his condition he is rotting.
Weeks go by and Lottie finally realizes that Spike is meant for her. She found a friend in Torran. I mean I could have seen them going further but every little thing reminded Lottie of Spike.
Spike spends his time actually dealing with his accident. He did this after seeing a little boy wanting more in life than being in a wheelchair. That pushed Spike to want more not just for himself but for Lottie as well.
I kind of felt like the book was rushed a little. Like I said you see how Spike and Lottie are in the other 2 books. Once Lottie returns everything falls into place. They don't wait another minute to be with each other. Could we have gotten a little glimpse of years that came? Did they have kids? Did they stay in the hotel or buy their own house?
I liked Lovestrong. I would highly recommend all 3 books.
This is the third part of The Kingdom Series and picks up after the event of High Stakes. It can be read as a standalone but to get the full affect its best to read the two previous books before reading this one.
This is Lottie and Spike's story, after Spike was injured at the end of High Stakes his life spirals into a dark hole. Feeling like he is a burden on everyone he hides himself away and calls off his relationship with Lottie. Pushing away everyone who cares. Lottie, being the strong woman that she is, decides to leave Vegas and go in off on a soul searching mission to rediscover herself.
Despite being thousands of miles apart their love for each other is still strong but they are both stubborn and must learn their own lessons before accepting the each other back into their lives.
An emotional book for sure, whilst I wasn't reaching for the tissues (I know plenty of people who did) it still pulled at my heartstrings. I loved catching up with the other characters from the previous books. Whilst this book wraps up the storyline I feel that perhaps we could have the occasional novella to catch up with the characters.
There has been an accident that has left Spike paralyzed from the waist down. He is self-loathing and angry. He feels like he has lost everything and there is no way he’s going to let Lottie go down with him. So regardless what she says or does, he pushes her away.
Lottie knows she loves Spike and that she belongs with him but what can you do when that person won’t let you be a part of their life. So she starts trying to figure out how to put her life back together without him. She goes on a journey to try to find what makes her happy but she knows she can’t do it in Vegas so she flies half way across the world to London. The only problem is that you can’t out run your mind, heart, body, and soul.
This is their individual journeys to find themselves and each other again. This is a beautiful love story that is full of hurt and pain that goes along with a tragedy. There is a grief process that has to be experienced. The ride is a vast set of emotions. This is the first book I’ve read of Nikki Groom and I will definitely be looking for more, probably starting with the beginning of The Kingdom series.
Wow, what an impactful story! I loved Lottie and Spikes story, filled with some really heavy emotional feelings but also has a message of hope for those people who are struck down with tragic events. Your heart bleeds for Lottie when Spike turns his back on her, thinking that he's setting her free so he isn't a burden to her. The journey takes her to London and I loved Torran, he's a big teddy bear kind of guy on the inside, big bad guy on the outside. The experiences that Lottie has in London makes her realize that she needs Spike in her life, doesn't matter at what level, she will take it. Spike also realized that he's pushed Lottie away, and the emotional journey he needs to go through to realize that he is a man and needs Lottie back. It's amazing what an adult can learn from a child, and that's exactly what happens to Spike. Darn book had me in tears at the end, loved everything about this book and series. Definitely worth the read!!!
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I gave it 5 stars because just like the first, two books in the Kingdom series, i loved it. I had high expectations and it did not disappoint.
After falling in love with Denham and Ari in the first, two books i couldn't wait to see what Nikki had install for Lottie and Spike in "Lovestrong" and how they managed to overcome Spike's "accident" in book two and find their way to back to each other!
This can be read as a standalone but i'm not sure why you would want to miss out on the whole story and the back drop to Lottie and Spike.
Another incredible read from Nikki that had me laughing and crying right along with the characters and am i so glad they got their happy ever after.
OMG Nikki Groom has done it again!!! I absolutely love her books I think every book of hers has made me cry one way or another whether it be happy tears or sad tears. Spike and Lottie, i knew this one would be emotional...but with this I had all the feels and I love that in a book. If you've read the first two books in the kingdom series then it's a definite must that you read this one. Spike and Lottie have an everlasting love but this story is one of finding yourself and not letting go of the things that mean the most and taking your second chance pretty much by the b**** and hanging like your life depends on it!!!! Nikki Groom your are AMAZING and I hope we get more of this series...maybe a book for Tara!!! A HUGE 5 stars for me....
I loved reading Spike and Lotties story, this was the perfect read to follow on in the amazing Kingdom series. Whilst this is the third book it could possibly be read as a standalone - but you really should read the others!
I found this quite an emotional read which brought tears to my eyes in places. Spike and Lottie's story is heartwrenching and beautiful all rolled into one. I also loved Mr Tattoo 'Torran' and felt kinda sad for him really- I'd like more of his story I'm now secretly hoping for maybe a book 4?
This is one amazing series that I really would recommend one-clicking!
Heart wrenching and heartwarming story of Lottie and Spike. They loved each other madly except tragic events turn their fairy love story into a nightmare. What happens when the love of your life doesn't want you anymore. Tragedy can either blind you or enlighten you, and this story shows the reader both. I hadn't read the 2 previous books, but I was able to appreciate and understand the story.
I was gifted a copy for an honest review. The part #3 of the Kingdom series. The Story of Spike and Lottie was such an amazing story of love will conquer all in the end. Turmoil and Tears for me with this book but I loved all the feelings that were brought out in me. Reviewed on behalf of Jo&Isalovesbooks Blog.
Wow!!! LOVED this addition the Kingdom series! ♥❤♥❤♥ If you loved the first two books you really won't want to miss Spike & Lottie's story! It's done with real heart & class. Another fabulous read from Nikki Groom!
Loved loved loved this book. Loved the way the characters had real life struggles to work through everything. This is definitely one of my favorite books.
Could not put this down once I started it. It's one of those reads you get so immersed in that before you know it, it's all over and you want more. I loved Lotti and Spike and their heartbreaking journey. Spike thinks by pushing Lottie away he is setting her free to live a better life without him, leaving Lottie to fly accross the world from Vegas to London to get a fresh start. But the heart wants what the heart wants and you can't fight true love, even from accross the oceans! The support characters were brilliant and left me crying. This is a great addition to the series. I loved this from start to finish. I recieved this in exchange for an honest review.
Lovestrong is the third book in the Kingdom series. It can be read as a stand alone but I think you will understand Spike and Lottie's sorry better if you read the first two books. It will help you to understand their relationship and also see the events that lead to where that are at this moment.
Lottie and Spike are in love. They own each other completely and know that they are it for each other. Until tragedy strikes and changes everything. Spike is in a position where he doesn't believe that he is good enough for Lottie any more. He is no longer able to give her what she needs and wants. So as hard as it is for him he knows that he needs to push her away. She deserves a man who can give her everything.
Lottie loves Spike and despite what happened to him she will fight for him and for them. But when Spike pushes her away he leaves her no choice but to leave. She takes off for London to start over, in hopes of forgetting Spike and moving on. But how do you move on from the one man who has your heart? And just because Spike pushed Lottie away doesn't mean he doesn't love her or miss her. Because his heart is and always will be hers. But what will it take for him to realize that he is enough for her and that he is everything she wants?
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Spike and Lottie together in the first two books and to see where that are now just broke my heart. They belong together and I wanted so bad for Spike to see that. But when your life suddenly changes in a really big way it also changes you as well. He went from loving Lottie and being her everything to feeling like he was nothing. He had his own issues to deal with and I think he couldn't believe in himself until he completely accepted what life threw his way.
Lottie tried so hard to move on but it just didn't feel right. I loved her time in London and the people she met along the way. I am even hoping that one of them gets his own book. But anyway as much as she didn't want to move on she tried, in the best way she knew how. She believed in their love and how strong it was but at the same time she doubted it all. I just hoped and prayed they would find their way back to each other.
What I loved was this book was that it was not filled with any unnecessary drama and it wasn't loaded with angst, because it simply didn't need it. It was a beautiful story of two soul mates finding their way back to each other. It is about a man whose life was just turned upside down and seeing how he deals with it. I hurt for the two of them, seeing how much they loved and missed each other. I felt Spike's pain and what he was going through. And I loved that Nikki Groom stayed true to this story and never felt like any of it was rushed or felt like it wasn't real. I can't really explain without given too much away, but I can say that the storyline never took a turn where you felt like it wasn't real.
I loved this series and really hope that we get to see more of these characters. I am hoping for Tara to get her own story and I think a certain someone needs to open up a tattoo parlor in Vegas and run into her. Because I want his story too. Another great job Nikki Groom.
I fell in love with this series and author when I read the first two books Holding Aces and High Stakes. You don’t have to read them to understand LoveStrong but I would highly recommend it so you get the full story of how life was before this book and now why they are dealing with the current events.
Lottie and Spike are clearly meant to be together, their love and commitment is strong, so why is Spike changing his mind now when he needs her the most? Lottie is heartbroken and not sure she can stay in the same city, even country as Spike. He is so close that she can put her arms around him but the wall he has built moved her miles away emotionally.
When she leaves to try and start over in a new place with new friends, she didn’t just leave Spike, she left her best friend as well. I was happy to see Lottie experience some firsts but it was clear her heart was not with her in London, it was back with Spike.
Nikki Groom clearly knows how to bring the readers emotions to the surface and in some cases forcing us into a really ugly cry. Lottie and Spike deserved so much more than what life offered them, it will take their love and courage to find a new life together but first they have to be willing to risk it all.
There are not enough words to express all I feel about the characters in this series. I could try and describe it using normal words such as strong, sexy, passionate, courageous, broken and fearful but the way Nikki writes their stories rises them to a level that is hard to even explain. I had a book hangover for days after each book, wanting to go back and absorb their story once again, to spend time with them since I loved them so much. This series is a must read.
Lovestrong (The Kingdom Book 3) By: Nikki Groom 5 out of 5 stars
The story Lovestrong (The Kingdom Book 3) by Nikki Groom is a Woman’s Fiction romance. Lottie has a hard childhood. That changed when she met her best friend Arianna. Strong willed and independent she seems to chase more people away then to her, then she met Spike. He was not put off by her temper and sharp tongue, no he didn’t run from her, he ran towards her. He started breaking down the walls that she had put up and she loved him like no other. Then tragedy happens. Now because of a murder attempt he is broken. Lottie does the only thing she can think of, leave. Will Lottie find a new life away from the only people she has loved and cared for? With both of them apart, with Spike and Lottie find out they can live without each other or will they find that their love for each other makes them Lovestrong?
What an awesome story in The Kingdom series. As both Spike and Lottie were featured in the first two books, I highly recommend reading them first so that you get the full scoop, plus you will love Arianna’s and Denham’s story. This story progresses and you find yourself so caught up that in no time you have read the whole thing. The main characters have shifted however after reading books one and two you know them all and come to think of them as old friends that have given you a glimpse into their lives.
If you love a story that will have you wanting to read the whole book in one sitting, this is the romance story for you. There is adult language through the book, so I would suggest that readers be 18 years of age or older. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Lovestrong is book #3 in the Kingdom series and the first book I have read by this author. I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I let this book psych me out!!
Both myself and several other blogger friends all received ARCS of Lovestrong to read and review. I stick to a pretty tight schedule with my ARCS so I was one of the last to start this book.
My friends were pretty vocal about the book and how emotional it had made them and how much they had cried.
I avoid books that I know will make me cry like the plague.
That’s not to say that I don’t like books that make me feel so strongly that I cry! I just prefer not to read books that I know will upset me.
So yeah this book psyched me out lol!!
To the point that I didn’t pick up my kindle for TWO days!!!! This may not seem like a big deal to you but to me it’s akin to chocolate being banned or hot guy photos becoming illegal!!
Well I grew a pair of bollocks and read Lovestrong.
Did I cry???
No I didn’t, I teared up ALOT buy overall I just thought the book was lovely.
I haven’t read the previous 2 books in the series but I still got completely dragged into Spike and Lottie’s story.
This love story is sweet and heart-breaking yet I felt the love and the hope. This book is defiantly sad at times but I never doubted for a second that they wouldn’t end up living happily ever after!!
This couple were adorable and I couldn’t help but totally fall for them.
Lottie realised growing up the only person she could truly rely on was herself until she met Spike he loved all her little quirks he loved her and she was in love with him.One night changes everything and after a tragic accident Spike is no longer who he used to be,pushing everyone including Lottie away which eventully tears them apart and puts an ocean between them.Lottie flys across the world to face a new life without Spike and he is left in a spiral of despair over the accident and losing Lottie. Can Spike go forward without Lottie by his side or will he fight to get her back? And what of Lottie can she stay away from Spike and make a new life for herself or will her love for Spike bring her back to him?Or will the tragedy of the past be too much for either to bear? WOW this was an emotional read I teared up on a few occasions their story is raw, emotional heartbreaking and full of romance. This can be read as a stand alone but id recommend you read the first two books in the series before this one.Nikkis writing is flawless and gut wrenching at ties but you keep holding on to the thought they will sort it out and be together to find out if they do make a start on this fab book today.
*I was given a free copy of this book and this is my honest review*
If you haven’t read the first two books of the Kingdom series, you have to before you read this because you will not get the full effect of Lottie’s and Spike’s love. We meet these two characters in the first two books and you may not read about Spike so much but Lottie is a fierce soul throughout the series. I was so glad to get to read her story because it showed she is strong as she is vulnerable. Spike pushes her away because he doesn’t think he has anything to offer her anymore and she doesn’t fight him. She does get to go on a place on her list but it doesn’t have the same affect she was looking for because she misses Spike. He misses her also and doesn’t know what to do with his life now. He pushed her away and is fighting his way back to a life he can live with. The whole story is about showing what depth their love is and how they can’t move on unless it’s with each other. Do you think they will figure out that they are Love Strong or will they let each other move on? This book is filled with deep love, heartbreak, fighting back and trying to find you way. It’s a great story and I am so glad I got to read about Lottie and Spike.
Lottie and Spike's story continues. Spike is recovering from being hit by a car. He has received the news that he is paralyzed from the waist down. He is in a constant state of self-pity. Wishing that he had died from the accident and not really experiencing any joy in life. He pushes Lottie away, feeling as though she can do better. He doesn't want her to be with him because he no longer feels like a man. Lottie has tried her best to support Spike, to stand by his side, to love him and to just be with him. She does not want to move on from him. They have been locked together from the beginning and she does not know what to do with herself. Once Spike has pushed her away, she feels lost, and doesn't know what to do with herself. She leaves on a trip to London. She has no idea what she is going to do, where she is going to stay, but she just has to get away, in order to recover from her lost relationship. She doesn't know what to do, she is lost. They both work individually to build themselves back up. Will they be able to overcome the hurt and pain that has been very present in their lives since the accident? Or will they move on to other people? - I received an arc for an honest review.
I received a complementary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.
I love Nikki Groom's writing and LoveStrong was a fabulous read I had devoured it in a couple of hours. This is book 3 in The Kingdom Series but can be read as a standalone although I would recommend you read them in order it focuses on Spike and Lottie's relationship. Spike and Lottie are everything to each other but one night something happpen's and life as they know it will never be the same again. I was only 5% in when my tears started to fall and that was more or less how I carried on throughout it was such an emotional journey as we watch these characters deal with everything life throws at them just hoping there will be a light at the end of the tunnel and they will get the happily ever after they so deserve. Nikki puts so much into her characters you cant help but love them I really wish I could give this book more than 5 stars as it thoroughly deserves them.
