An adorable series in which dog detectives solve crimes. In this one, a Westie pup watches out for the mythic ghosts and goblins out to steal a scroll from his dojo. Although he is not a great student in his class, when it comes to something he cares about, he rises to the challenge and is able to throw the villain and uncover who is truly behind the attempted theft.

Styles, W., Whitehouse, B., & Ross, G. (2016). Ghosts and goblins and ninja, oh my! New York, NY: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division.

This book is a series of the P.I. Pack. In this world, animals are like people. The P.I. Pack is a group of dogs that solve mysteries in the city. In this story, Westie is a dog studying martial arts. He helps his friend Sensei Hiro, when he feels his magic scroll is going to be stolen. Sensei thinks this when he hears a noise in the mirror store. Westie and his friends go to the mirror store at night and secretly watch to see what happens. While they are watching, the police come and they go to the station. The P.I Pack explains everything and goes back to the mirror store. When they hear a noise, Westie goes in there and sees there are cat ninjas in there trying to steal the script. Westie goes in there and catches them. He sees a scary goblin that is also stealing the script. The story ends with Westie catching the cat ninjas and the goblin.

3. What was the turning point in the story?
4. What is a different way to solve the problem in the story? (Chasing after the goblin)
5. How would you have solved this problem?
