A little bird who’s learning to fly accidentally winds up in Sophie’s yard in the eighth book of The Adventures of Sophie Mouse!
Sophie gets a surprise visitor when a little bird makes a crash landing into her yard and hurts his wing. But with Sophie and her friends to help nurse him back to health, the baby bird will be flying high in no time!
Poppy Green can talk to animals! Unfortunately, they never talk back to her. So she started writing in order to imagine what they might say and do when humans aren’t watching. Poppy lives on the edge of the woods in Connecticut, where her backyard is often a playground for all kinds of wildlife: birds, rabbits, squirrels, voles, skunks, deer, and the occasional wild turkey.
3.5 stars. We love this series. It's so quick and always so sweet. This one is about a little bird who lands on Sophie's roof and he's injured. Sophie helps him get back where he needs to be. Sweet.
My 6yo: Sophie is a very good friend. Even though she didn't know him, she helped a new friend. She was very kind. It taught us a lesson to be good friends and make new friends and be kind to one another even if you don't know the person.
Mom: Another sweet Sophie story. These have been a delight to share with my little girl. Sophie is consistently kind and thoughtful, and the stories are each unique and special...a lovely series.
Read aloud to the younger kids. Most of this book wasn’t quite as fun as others in the series because I missed Sophie’s gang of friends. But the final two chapters were completely sweet and quintessential Sophie.
When a little bird lands on Sophie’s roof, she helps get him home. This was a very sweet book in this series and we enjoyed it immensely. My daughter and I stayed up late, reading ’just one more chapter.’
My daughter liked this book and wanted me to reread it several times, but we've tried several other books in this series and they don't hold her interest. They are sweet books, but a bit boring for me.
Heartwarming and about being helpful and so cute how they do so. Sophie Mouse was nice, kind, adventurous and brave all at the same time. So very nice.
I love Sophie Mouse! I read this out loud at the dinner table to my oldest boys, and we enjoyed it!
Update: My 6yo son Cooper found this at the library—he was drawn to it because he likes birds. Too bad the whole series doesn’t feature birds! He liked it, and so did his little brother. We read the whole thing at once.
