There’s more than a prophecy holding them together …
Famous rock star, Xochitl Leonine, has dreamt of a world with two moons where a black cloaked man beckons her. One Halloween night, she meets the mysterious stranger of her dreams… literally... and their shared dance becomes a rendezvous in a place of endless night.

Zareth Amotken has no idea how important Xochitl’s heavy metal band is to her. As an immortal sorcerer, he doesn’t care. He has one goal: to find the prophesied savior of his world. Her voice holds the power to bring back his world’s vanished sun.

Xochitl’s compassion urges her to help in any way she can. Yet learning the mysteries of her past causes conflict with her future in music. Her destiny in his world and her obligations to her band pull her in opposite directions. How can she long for one while the other is so dire?

As Zareth introduces her to his people and teaches her to control her powers, she aches for his enchanting kiss. Zareth tries to resist, for their passion will unleash serious consequences, both political and magical.

As the time to fulfill her destiny draws closer, she must choose between her heart, her duty, and her friends. The wrong choice could ruin everything.

Very good

I very much enjoyed this book, as I did the first two. It was a bit predictable, but I still enjoyed the characters and story.

I loved this book so hard. I've been following the Brides of Prophecy series since the beginning, and if you haven't read them yet, you should go fix that. They're fun, sexy, fantastic stories with a new take on vampires, elves, magic, and other fun critters you'll see along the way. However, I think you could jump in with this book, and not lose too much. There are hints at events and a brief mention of previous characters, but this feels very much like it can stand on its own.

On that note, in this third installment, we finally get Xochitl's story. I hardly know where to begin!

Xochitl is the lead singer of a metal band--you might notice Brooklyn Ann has a thing for those in her other books--who knows she doesn't fit in. She can conjure purple fireballs at will ("Oooh! Dem special effects!" her fans and bandmates think) and has never felt completely at home around humans. Bullied and harassed when she was young, she formed a core group of friends who all happened to have musical talent. Thus, the band Rage of Angels was born.

When she meets the intriguing sorcerer, Zareth, he whisks her away to another world locked in a state where they are cursed with a blanket of darkness over the land, never to see the sun--until the prophesied Lioness of Light (guess who) unleashes her mighty roar.

As the one destined to end that eternal night, Xotchil does an admirable job of tackling every new challenge thrown in her path. Her relationship with Zareth, though it may have started in dreams, progresses into a sweet, sensual romance that is both sexy and believable. It's also quite fascinating how there are unexpected consequences to their actions, and this leads into Ann showing her writing chops as she deftly introduces new cultures and beliefs along the way.

That is probably the one thing I liked best about this story. Aside from being about the romance, there was a great deal to be seen about this new world and how the people in it lived. They were not just there for story support, there were actual challenges and politics involved which delved beyond more than just surface fantasy magic wand-waving.

The villain, Stephan/Steve, seems like an incompetent jerk on the surface, but by the end of the book he becomes far more of a threat than I would have credited given his bumbling attempts to capture Xochitl earlier. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that it is deeply satisfying to finally see him get his comeuppance.

Brooklyn Ann has created a rich, fascinating new world in this story, and I am excited to see where she takes it from here.

Can't put down book

Conjuring Destiny is a paranormal urban fantasy romance novel, that once you start reading you won't want to put down. It has all the markings of high fantasy while giving a fresh take on traditional fantasy and paranormal canon.

Told in alternating points of view, first person for Xochitl, the female rock star main character, and third person for Zareth, the dark wizard from another world, the author pulls of the point of view switches seamlessly.

Xochitl has always been different. She never fit in with anyone except the other members of her band. For one thing she has magical abilities that only her very best friend knows about. Haunted by dreams of a man in a dying rose garden since she was seventeen she doesn't know what they mean but goes on to pursue her music career.

While doing a Halloween concert everything changes when she meets Zareth, the man from her dreams and nothing is ever the same again. With her cat Isis in tow, whom she can talk to she is dragged into the adventure of a lifetime to fulfill a prophecy and maybe get some answers to why she is so different from everyone else--if she survives.

Wonderful fun read with a few toe curling love scenes to boot--I'll be reading the others in this series and more by Brooklyn Ann.

Rock star romance is a hot genre right now. Throw in some paranormal and supernatural beings and happenings, and you have an intriguing combination that makes you stand out in the genre. The blend of those two genres is what actually caught my eye with this book and made me want to read it.

What I love even more about the rock star aspect of this book is that the lead character, who is the rock star, is actually a woman. Usually you get a hot guy who has some issues he needs to work on, being pursued by a female fan (or a female who doesn't realize she is a fan until she gets involved with the band). Xochitl (so-she) is a no-nonsense bad ass singer and guitar player who puts all of those men to shame. Her electric personality is actually literal, as she can conjure purple flames that appear to most people to be merely incredible special effects. She has a deep and dark side that stems from a rough upbringing, lots of taunting and bullying in her life, and losing her mother at a young age. Unbeknownst to her, there are even more reasons for this darker side and her unique personality traits and abilities.

Enter Zareth, the being from the other world who has been haunting her dreams and is going to teach her everything that she needs to know in order to fulfill her prophecy. It doesn't hurt that he is a good teacher, in many ways, and is also smoking hot.

The story alternates between their points of view, providing a seamless account of everything that is going on. Their story has a rich history, which is explained in adequate time, without being dry and boring. So many things had to happen to lead up to the darkening and still need to happen to bring back the sun. Xochitl has so much to learn, reminding you of a Harry Potter or any other such character who is coming into her destiny at an advanced age. That aspect of the story is one that has been done many, many times, yet Brooklyn makes it feel fresh and new.

The author also has a knack for creating meaty descriptions that make you feel like you are actually in the characters' worlds. I felt like I was right there with them, every step along the way. Their reality was my reality. The richness of the words roll off the tongue and help the action to play out as if it were a movie unfolding right in front of you. It helps to keep you engrossed as you read.

This is my first Brooklyn Ann book. It is also the third book in the series, yet I didn't feel like I was missing much by not having read the first two. That being said, I am now intrigued to check them out some time in the near future. I enjoyed my trip to this magical world.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I was lucky enough to get to read the first two books in this series, and I loved them both. I did enjoy this book but I have to be honest and say it was not my favorite out of the series. You should read the first two books before you read this book; it will be easier for you to understand what is going on in this book.

I love how Xochitl was a girl with a big soft heart but yet a strong and fearless girl at that. She loved Zareth with all of her heart and he felt the same way about Xochitl. He wanted nothing more than to protect her from the danger that lurked right around the corner.
It was hard for him because Xochitl did not see the evil coming for her and Zareth tried his best to make her understand the best he could that she was in danger.

Xochitl is a famous rock star and her band members cannot understand why she keeps disappearing with Zareth all of the time, when she should be practicing with the band for the tour they had coming up. But what they did not know was that Zareth had Xochitl in training for the fight of her life, and she could not tell the band this although she desperately wanted to so they would understand that it was not just her wanting to be with Zareth instead of doing her job.

I really enjoyed this book!

The book has a fascinating plot and is well written. What else could you ask for? It’s a “paranormal romance” type series, but the women in the stories are far from weak and swooning damsels in distress. They are strong female characters. The addition of music to the plot contributes to an interesting and unique story. Brooklyn Ann’s words flow nicely. The story of this particular book is written from the point of view of the two main characters.

In this book, we learn more about Xochitl, and the prophecy. And we finally get to meet the mysterious man in Xochitl’s dreams. I can’t wait for the next book!

I received Conjuring Destiny from Goodreads Giveaways. (Thank you Goodreads!) I would never start a series at book 3, so I did read the first two. I enjoyed them all. When I first received the book, I feared I wouldn’t like it because I thought the series title (Brides of Prophecy) sounded a bit corny. Well, you know the saying - that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Well I guess you shouldn’t judge a book by its title, either.

WOW WOW WOW - this was awesome!!!

I will start by saying - if you haven't read Wrenching Fate (1st book of the series) or Ironic Sacrifice (2nd book of the series) - you really should read these before reading Conjuring Destiny (3rd book of the series). It will make a lot more sense if you know what has previously happened.

Famous rock star, Xochitl Leonine, has dreamt of a world with two moons where a black cloaked man beckons her. One Halloween night, she meets the mysterious stranger of her dreams… literally... and their shared dance becomes a rendezvous in a place of endless night. I don't write spoilers - but OMG - when reading this I found it hard to stop reading until I finished the book!!! When I though I had things figured out, Brooklyn Ann through a twist at me that kept this book so interesting that it was unreal!!!

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

Absolutely LOVED this book. I love how Miss Brooklyn had the book going from Xochitl's point of view as well as Zareth's. I love how Xochitl showed compassion while yet being strong and fearless. Zareth's determination to school Xochitl in the ways of their magic was impressive, and yet, he showed some humanity in seeing that Xochitl's friends and bandmates needed her as much as he needed her. Both main characters strengthened each other, which created (in the book) a fearsome storm, and united the characters. "Uncle Del" and his situation causes a reader to hope there might be more to his story later on. I also liked how Xochitl's mom came to her after she had "died"; it kind of reminded me of when my mom appeared to me after she had passed.

I love how Xochitl's friends, while frustrated with her disappearing, still stuck by her side when she needed them.

This book was amazing! I have been craving a happy ending for Xochitl from the very first book in the series. She has held a soft spot in my heart from the very beginning.
The book, and series as a whole, are wonderfully written paranormal romance. None of the main characters are "normal", mundane humans, all have something amazingly unique about them.
The women in the series are all tough women, with rough pasts, making them stronger emotionally than the regular middle class young adult. The men so far in the series...all rough around the edges, though some more than others. Of course, they all find themselves falling hopelessly in love with these stronger than steel women.
I am not letting you in on the plot twist but it was.....amazing! Completely kept me up finishing the book last night far after my bedtime.

WOW what a talent, I adored how she writes, how her characters come together and makes the story.
Xochitl is a famous rock star, who dreams about a stranger in a black cloak who calls out to her. She meets him at Halloween and they click.
Zareth a immortal wizard, has his eyes on her too, he is convinced that she is his world's savior. Xochitl learns from him how to use and control her powers and then there is Zareth's evil half brother, will Xochitl be strong and stop him from taking her choice away? you have to read that for yourself! You won't regret it.

This is the first book I've read of the series but it didn't feel like I was missing any important information at all and immediately drew me and swept me up. The characters are both complex and easy to relate to. You can't help but root Xochitl and Zareth. The world building was beautifully detailed without being overwhelming and easy to picture. It kept me in its thrall from start to finish and I will definitely be keeping my eye on this series (and reading the ones I've missed). I'm a sucker for a tale of magic and romance with a side of intrigue and the politics of royalty and this Conjuring Destiny has all that and more. To only have him appear and tell you of your destiny... To bring back the sun to your home world. I loved this book so much. I love the take on Fay and magic and elves... Even leprechauns...pirates... Evil brothers... And moms returned fm the dead. Most excellent book. ... Oh and kitties... Don't forget the cats. And dragons.... A must read! This book as given to me for my honest review... And here you have it.

This is a great book with strong character interactions. Xochitl’s destiny unfolds further and more of the prophecy comes into play. An exciting and at times mysterious tale that will keep you hooked. I can’t wait until the next one in this series comes out. I highly recommend this series to all.

I received this book as a review copy, and I really enjoyed reading it. Although it is a part of a series, this story stood on its own. In no way did I feel like I was missing something. A fantasy story, the back and forth between worlds was done effortlessly and with touches of humor. I just loved Xochitl. Her determination to be her own woman had me cheering for her as she navigated her way through an incredible life shift. And her interactions with Zareth had me laughing out loud.
His stuffy, practical nature, clashing with Xochitl's free spirit, made for an unlikely match, but the author wove their story so well, having them not fall in love, was impossible.
This is a book that I will have no problem recommending!

“Well I’ll be damned. I’m the daughter of an angel and an evil being trying to become a god. No wonder I’m so fucked up.” I remembered how out of place I felt among others throughout my life. Hell, this all could be true.

I really enjoyed the author's earlier books in the Scandals with a Bite series, which I think are hilariously campy. This one isn't bad, but failed to raise as much enthusiasm.

I have read all 4 of this series. They are NOT just another vampire romance. The characters are complex and you will fall in love with them.
I did find a little too much sex in book 3 and 4 but the story line in all 4 made up for it. I am REALLY looking forward to book 5...6 and so on!

Interesting twist on how I read this book. I read the first two books awhile ago and well jumped into the 4th book because I had an opportunity to read an ARC on Unleashed Desires. So, I thought I wont miss a whole lot if I read that first right? Actually, after reading this it was totally fine. I wasn't lost at all. So, my reading order was 1, 2, 4, and 3. Ha.

I loved this book. Brooklyn is so freaking brilliant! This series just has me in knots! Good kind! I just had to keep reading and didnt take a break. Ok, I would but then like 5 minutes later I'd start reading some more cause I couldnt help myself! I've been intrigued with Xochitl from book 1. Xochitl is not human. She doesnt even know what she is. She's never really felt like she fit in with anyone. She didnt have many friends. She was harassed and bullied in school. She was really sad and lonely. When she found friends who are her band mates and of course Akasha there were still times she was sad. People and her fans included were afraid of her and kept their distance. She meets Zareth who she's had dreams of for a long time. They weren't love dreams but she dreamt of him and couldn't ever figure out her dreams. He's an immortal sorcerer and a very powerful one. His world is dying and he knows Xochitl is the proposed savior according to the prophecy to bring back the suns which have been gone for 4 years. She's official title is The Lioness of Light. As time goes by his powers weaken and his people have suffered and other magical folk have as well. He's not really giving her a choice to come back with him. I admit Zareth is a lot to take. He's a bit of a jerk and snobbish in a way at least towards humans. He's definitely arrogant. Oh, I so wanted to kick his ass a few times at the beginning. Xochtl and Zareth have mad chemistry but he refuses to give in. He doesnt want another wife. He tries really hard to keep his distance. Oh these two drove me batty because they just wouldnt admit their feelings. Even after they mated. Xochtl has wanted him from the beginning and well once they consummated their relationship things got complicated. They had to marry. Its different with his people. Sex means quite a lot. I guess you could call it sex magic. Its all intertwined. Neither were happy about having to rush things but they did so to prevent issues with his people. Xochtl and Zareth got closer and they got closer and it was rather sweet. Xochtl fights him on a lot of things but she does amazingly well and does try to help and train to control her magic better. I think I yelled "FINALLY" when he told her he loved her. He isn't the only one who desires her. His half brother, Stephan AKA Steve wants her as well. He really wants to be King. He's the Winter Prince but he's evil. Before Xochtl sets a lot of people straight Zareth is believed to be the evil one and Stephan as the good one. He's pretty diabolical. We dont really learn that until late in the book. Everyone underestimated him greatly. We get some cool surprises but I wont give that away to those who havent read it yet. Will Xochtl be able to save his world? Will Stephan get her into his evil claws? What is his real motivation? Read it and find out! :)

*****Spoilers*****

I couldn't get into this book. Xochitl was supposedly a rock star, fearless due to her heritage she just learns about, but she's kidnapped by Zareth and accosted by his brother Stefan. There's a prophecy she's supposed to fulfill and a whole world she knew nothing about but everything is okay. Not realistic but more so than that, the characters don't feel genuine, same with the emotions, and add the dialogue is odd meant that I couldn't get going to catch my interest.

4.5 Stars!

I loved this story.
This paranormal fantasy romance is set in a world that's big and delicious, fully equipped with a hard rock band's approach to life and love that delighted me.

Main character Xochitl meets her destiny when master sorcerer Zareth comes for her through his dreams to Earth, and leads her into his world where a prophecy foretells her magic will liberate his kingdom from darkness. I was thrilled with the fantasy elements in this story. The singing and music made it even better.

Credit to the author who wove Xochitl's real life on Earth with the demands of the fantasy world she has to learn to live in. It was flawless the way the author blended the worlds, and I so want to go spend a summer in Aisthanesthai with all the characters who populate this world. They even have DRAGONS!

It was the love story that held it all together for me. These two souls from different worlds found each other and surprised themselves, and me, as they fought to sustain their magic and their love. Xochitl and Zareth were never meant to be, yet they can't exist without each other.

Villains exist in this realm, and what seems at first to be another typical prince charming chilled me. Come check out this story for an adventure where love finds its way among a path made of magic.

I'll be looking for more stories from Brooklyn Ann.

I like edgy heroines in my urban fantasies and dark paranormals – Xochitl, a heavy metal singer, is one the edgier I’ve read in a while. (I had issues pronouncing some of the names in this book!) The mage hero Zareth took a while to grow on me – at his intro, he’s a snob. He disses vampires as evil demons, which I found pot-calls-kettle since his parasitic “hydra” (which grants him immortality) is also a demon. It feeds on emotion, preying on the heroine’s, which I wasn’t sure was exactly ethical.

She’s supposed to save his world by bringing back the sun, which was cursed into hiding. Crops are failing, people are starving. But she’s also supposed to crown the true king. There are two princes in the running – Zareth & his brother Stefan. Zareth tries to tip the scales by stealing Xochitl away before his brother has a chance to. Her band is not too happy about Xochitl disappearing in the middle of recording a new album – and touring.

I really enjoyed the ensuing clashes and mayhem. The worldbuilding is stellar, the characters are kick-ass, not a weakling in the bunch, and Stefan turns out to be a truly diabolical villain. Zareth’s motives are fully realized, I ended up rooting for the poor guy despite my initial impressions. This is a story full of surprises, a mix of darkness and laughter, with the requisite happy ending. I’m glad I got to go along for the ride!

Finally finished this after starting 3 months ago. I loved this one out of all the Brides of Prophecy but with the first person that it took on some of the chapters, it took some time to read. But like all of her other books, I recommend this one as well! Never disappointed with any of her books. :)

DEFINITELY PARANORMAL

But it is escapism at its utter utmost best, and has the most villainous villain. And the good guy is so incredibly good, but misunderstood by some people. Add in cats as mini-heroes and the odd dragon or two, and this is a no lose situation. The ultimate happily ever after doesn't hurt the story either.
