Roomies

Rate this book
My name is Leila. I moved to New York City for a great internship opportunity but unfortunately it costs a fortune to live there. So I had to find a roommate. The best one I could find was Dane. Tattooed. Male Whore. And annoying. But he had the money to pay half the rent. My only problem? He wants more than just being my roommate...

I'm Dane and I don't have feelings for women. They are just there to get me off. Yeah, I'm a dick and don't care. Unfortunately when I start rooming with Leila she doesn't have time to deal with my sh*t. That's not the biggest problem though. She won't f*ck me.

I finally met my match...

* This sexy steamy bad boy romance is perfect for fans of Joanna Blake, Devon Hartford, Sabrina Paige, Winter Renshaw, Vanessa Waltz and Dani Wyatt *

God, I'm sorry. I swear I did try to finish this because I hate rating book when I haven't read it entirely.

Dislikes

1. The misleading blurb.

"I'm Dane and I don't have feelings for women. They are just there to get me off. Yeah, I'm a dick and don't care. Unfortunately when I start rooming with Leila she doesn't have time to deal with my sh*t. That's not the biggest problem though. She won't f*ck me.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that didn't happen. And don't get me started on the rest.

* This sexy steamy bad boy romance is perfect for fans of Joanna Blake, Devon Hartford, Sabrina Paige, Winter Renshaw, Vanessa Waltz and Dani Wyatt *

Sorry but NO.

2. The endless detailed sex scenes between the Hero and O/W. Yes, we get it. He's a manwhore. He pokes everything that breathes from buzzed chick to yoga chick. He's down for anything! But that doesn't mean that I need to read about him fucking other girls all the time. Enough is enough.

3. The insta-love. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind an insta-love romance from time to time but the insta-love in this book is really ridiculous. The Hero and Heroine barely talked to each other and sure they had one night where they almost kissed but it wasn't even chemistry-loaded. It was awkward as fuck. And all of a sudden he's in love with her? Yup. Not buying it.

I'm so fucking done with this author.

THIS BOOK.
Jesus.
My patience.
Abso-fucking-lutely TRIED.
To its LIMITS.

The book is not about the H/h becoming a couple. The book is about the H finding himself through trial and error via multiple OW. Sometimes in threesomes. Before magically realizing he was in love with his roommate, the h, all along. The h lived vicariously through his sexual adventures because they happened in their apartment. You know, that they shared as "roomies."

I can like these story premises, I have 4 and 5 starred some absolute train wrecks cuz they're just so beautifully perfect in their emotional wreckage...but this?

The H/h barely have any interaction in the entire book. The H even has a OW GF. Yup. You read that right. She's a freaky chick into freaky shit. There'd be no polar opposite better suited to her than the h. So what is the H's attraction to the h? Seriously? Cuz I never read them having any "moments" or sizzling chemistry.

The GF OW had more "on-screen" relationship/fucking time than the h did. It was ridiculous.

The place where this book fails is not in the OW...but, fuck, were they plentiful and GRAPHIC...it's with the little to no development of the H/h. They are simply not believable as a couple. They never really hung out or had any deep conversations. They never spent any meaningful time in each other's presence to explain their mutual interest. And when they finally went on 2 dates, it was always awkward as fuck. They didn't seem like they had shit in common. In fact, they have a political debate where he condemns her profession. Awkward.

They separate for a time because the H, who just got bumped down from a 120k to 60k job (Chef), is pissed the h left town (1hr away) for a job that would eventually net 6 to 7 figures (financial manager). Seriously? Moron. She wanted him to come with her. She could've given a shit less what he did for a living. But that all goes back to the lack of development between the H/h.

The H does manage to keep it in his pants when they're separated. Barely. Yay for him!!!

0 stars because the H was a total fail as a leading man.

Every one of her books I like less and less. They're not controversial. They're just irredeemable.

I'm so confused by this book. Here's my honest opinion.
First Gripe:- The summary doesn't really match what happens in the book...not by a long shot.
“That's not the biggest problem though she won't fu*k me.”
Whaaattt? When did that happen? What did I miss? just stop gif photo: oh gawd just stop j839d5.gif
The first time you tried, you succeeded guy?
In fact, she actually made a move on you FIRST!

Second Gripe: I really don't understand the "insta love" between Leila and Dane.
They had like 2 conversations with one another (one where she was completely trashed and acting like a drunk idiot.)

Like literally- I was just as surprised as Leila was when Dane blurted out that he loved her. no just no gif photo: No. guystaring.gif

Third Gripe: I actually thought that Dane had way more chemistry with Wrigley (I agree it is a weird freakin' name.)
I mean, he sure as hell spent enough time with her. WAYYYY more time then with the “heroine”.
I found myself routing for Wriggs and Him the whole time.

Fourth Gripe: The waterfall scene. Who was that bloody woman?
That was freaking creepy. I think Leila might be on drugs...she should seek help.

Fifth Gripe: The pool and the pheromone party: The pheromone party was kind of funny. I could understand that. But the pool scene...again what was the point of that?
Sort-of entertaining to read, I guess....but did NOTHING for the story line. EXCEPT it made me route for Wriggs And Dane...which is weird...because she's kind of a psycho.

This is my first book from this author, so I hesitate to be rude, but this book is ridiculous. Dane is having sex with all these other girls and then with one girl, not the heroine, for the first 50% of the book. In fact, after reading some reviews, I paid extra attention to this, and the h/h had three encounters - and by encounters, I mean they were in the same room and spoke to each other - before they were declaring feelings of love for each other. And, the very next day when he goes to break it off with the girl he's been sleeping with, he gets "a little jealous" when she says she wasn't alone the night before. Um, just no. There was absolutely no chemistry between the h/h. As other reviews have stated, Dane had more chemistry with his psycho booty call Wrigley. I'm not sure why I read this book, other than my intense curiosity and lack of self control.

On the plus side, and the reason for my stars, there was an abundance of LOL moments. Yes they were all ridiculous and some were stupid, but it was funny.

2 stars. I. Can't. Even.

If I'm being honest, I skimmed a lot of this book. There were a lot of things that didn't work for me, which are mostly just preference and opinion. Looks like a lot of the GR peeps are in the same boat as me with their thoughts and opinions. Should have read the reviews beforehand. I was looking for a mindless read since I've been in a book funk lately, but this was not even it. You know a fluff book to get me through, extra cheesy, that sort of thing. But all this gave me was frustration and thoughts of "What the fuck is wrong with these people?"

Sorry. Another ranting review from me! :(

Understanding the time and effort authors put into each of their books, I rarely give such a low rating. But I'm sorry, I didn't like the book, the "hero" got on my last nerve, and I haven't been able to finish it. At 40% I finally I had to set it aside. If it had been a print book, I absolutely would have thrown it across the room.

This is supposed to be a romance, right? But at the 40% mark (yep, that's not a typo, 40%!) the "hero" and heroine had only had like 4 or 5 short discussions as the interaction between them. Oh, there was sex taking place, but every one of those scenes involved the hero banging other chicks, sometimes one on one, sometimes as menage, sometimes in a bed, sometimes in public places.

In fact, at the point I stopped reading, he'd just decided to give a monogamous relationship a shot...with the chick he was having sex in public places with, the one he'd called by the heroine's name the first time he screwed her, because he couldn't remember that chick's name. A chick who, by the way, kept trying to get him to be her bitch, and who wouldn't mind adding the heroine into the mix, but he said she wouldn't be into that. So he's woken up in bed with that chick, after sleeping the whole night together (something neither has ever done with each other or with previous sexual partners), and he's thinking he's happy with her. Never mind it had been Leila, the heroine, he'd thought about having that monogamous relationship with a day or two before. Grr. I'm getting angry all over again just thinking about it.

Needless to say, I don't recommend this to romance readers who expect the sex scenes in a romance to actually contain the hero and heroine together, and want more contact between them than mostly short chats, especially so far in the book. I'm quite disappointed because, after reading the blurb, I expected a story with lots of sparks and sexual tension between the hero and heroine. Assuming the two of them do get together before the final page, it's too bad it takes place after I've lost interest.

Though I couldn't make myself continue to the end and didn't like Dane, there is something in the author's writing that makes me want to give her another shot. Next time, however, I'll choose from her backlist more carefully, and hope for a happier outcome. :)

Sooo... (as a reader)

I am really disappointed in this book, I mean I had such high hopes and it just....didn't do for me. What attracted me to this book was the book cover and the summary, but when I actually read the book it didn't really match up to the summary. When Dane and Leila first meet you can see where Dane was coming off cocky and arrogant. Dane stroll in her house like he live there then proceeded to cut her off and ignore her when she talked, honestly if I was Leila I would hate him too. What made me immediately stop reading this book about halfway through was the unrealistic insta-love between the two, they barely had any interactions and they both think they might be in love with each other? Not only did they barely have any interaction but nothing about them scream chemistry, literally through most of what I read Dane was always "with" some other girl. The first maybe three chapters Dane didn't know Leila's name. The first time they ever really talked Leila was drunk (and of course the awkward embarrassing day after) and the whole "I think I love you" speech. This book didn't have any real emotion to it, I didn't feel the chemistry, I didn't feel heart broken, and I definitely didn't feel like I could relate to the characters, I just felt....annoyed.

This was offered as a kindleunlimited so I decided to give a try. Had I paid money for this, I would have sent it back for a refund. It was that bad. I made it to the 50% mark but you couldn't pay me to keep reading this garbage. Just a mess. I really should have checked out the reviews on goodreads before trying this one.

I have to say I'm quite disappointed with this book, it lacked chemistry and so much more. There was no connection than all of sudden bam they love each other. Just not type of book. It was somewhat funny hence the three stars.

This was strange, had some great funny and comedic timing. But the author really struggled with pulling the story and Romance together. I kinda wished Dane ended up with Wrigley because I can't see where or when he and Leila fell in love or what would keep the together

Definitely not a fan of this book. The storyline is not good. The two main characters have hardly spoken to each other & next thing you know they are in love!! Couldn't even finish it.

I have to be honest and say that this was not one of my favourite Claire Adams books. She is a great writer and the writing is spot on.
I am not a big fan of reading about the heroes with OW and Dane has a lot of it. I wasn't the biggest fan of Dane at first. I also didn't understand why he fell in love with Layla, the two didn't spend a lot of time together. I did enjoy the story more when the two got together. I also appreciated the fact that Dane didn't revert back to his old ways when things got rocky. While this wasn't one of my favourite books I did like that it was well written. I am looking forward to what Claire Adams writes next, she is very talented!

DNF @ 55% - I don't really have an explanation for this one. I didn't like the characters, I didn't like the plot.. I didn't like all the other random chicks the H was sleeping with either. Not to mention his wanting to be "Exclusive" with someone else, because the main chick doesn't seem to be available. You read more about his boffing every other chick in the city than you do anything about the relationship between the hero and heroine. Just really not my cup of tea.

I was not a fan of this book. I think the writing was weak and the story line was terrible. The two roommates avoided each other all the time and then all of a sudden they love each other. I never even finished the book.

This story has a very warped sense of humor, especially in the early chapters, but then the two main characters start to get into each other, and the book becomes very romantic. It does give New Yorkers a bit of a attitude, and I don't know, from reading some of the stuff that appears to be every day type occurance, whether I would want to go to NYC.
Anyway, I read this as a bonus book within the "Billionaire Beast" and have voluntarily submitted this review. I did enjoy the book, and if you can get over the raunchy sex activities, and language, to see that, is after all, part of the characters' make up.

Couldn't Finish!!!

Good grief!!! I could not get through this no matter how hard I tried!! I even took a break for a couple of days and tried to clear my mind and come back to it and still I hated both characters!! She's a drunk and he's just kinda nasty!!! Neither one inspired anything in me and I just couldn't relate on any level....so that pretty much killed the story as well!!

My advice don't even bother starting it you will be disappointed!!

100% not safe! I gave it 3 stars strictly for the quirky side characters and the insane ott crazy stuff they did. I don't know why but I couldn't stop laughing. I liked the story more as a comedy than a romance. I just didn't feel the connection between the h and H. Maybe I'm just in a weird mood and wouldn't normally rate it as high but I'm sticking with 3 stars (at least for now)

Dane is a typical macho man who loves the ladies. Leila is a little bit of a naive but smart girl. They meet when Leila needs a room mate, she is really reluctant to give him the room since he goes against everything she lives for, since she is a little bit of loner.
Dane has a regular girl who he sees casually who they finally say they want to be together, but on the exact same day that they tell each other they want to be together, he realises after telling her this that he actually loves Leila, its not all celebrations when he goes to tell her because he walks in on her and her friend Mike kissing.
I did find that they didn't really seem to connect with me really, other than the fact Dane seems to like any type of woman, and Leila has just not been with anyone for a very long time. They seem to say they love each other after only really speaking too each other a handful of times (literally) - this is very unrealistic to me.

Overall, I am really not sure what I felt about this book, I had very mixed feelings about it. I wish I could have connected with the characters because the story line had a lot of potential.

Despite the negative reviews I decided to try this book anyway. There were many times I was hoping I was close to finishing constantly checking what % I was at. I honestly don't think I've rated a book below a 4 except once or twice. First I don't like when the hero has multiple women. Respect your new roommate. Perhaps get to know her name before you start thumping the wall. I was so not a fan of Wrigley. What bothered me was that after he discovered he had feelings for her he still went back to Wrigley. Yes she was giving Mike kissing lessons but Dane had been with multiple people since living there. What he decides I want her and she's suppose to jump? Runs off and gets in a relationship for her one kiss. Ridiculous... Grow a pair as Wrigley would say. The dual POV books are usually my favorite but I didn't like being in his flaky flighty mind. Leila gave in to easily to him the very next day after he left to be with Wrigley. Plus the constant meeting with Wrigley. I really wished Leila would have heard his stupid ass comment about her moving and that's the end talk he was spilling to Riggs at the bar before Mike showed. Wtf So dislike when people think they can sleep with another to get over someone else. The problem is still there after your hook up. Both characters pushed it too far for me at the end. Plus I DO NOT like when exes become friends etc. I honestly thought Mike might be gay and at the end she was talking about how she got him to admit it. I would not want to carve turkey with someone that slept with my spouse plus Wrigley probably jokes about seeing his junk and gettin her ovaries waxed by his dick all the time. Poor Mike having to live up to that. I guess she finally got her bitch.

Unfortunately I had a really hard time finishing this book. Once I got to around 50% I started skimming and just reading the parts where the H & h interact which were the only parts of the book that I liked. (and unfortunately that wasn't the majority of the book.) Their interaction was decent and did have some funny lines. I have to agree with others that the insta love is way to unbelievable in this one. They have no interaction with each other, other than a "hey" here and there and then are professing their love. I also could not stand the interactions between the main characters and everyone else in the book. I just kept thinking "so what's the point"... "get on with it".... etc. It was all randomness that didn't have anything to do with the story.

Finally I feel the need to point out the blurb is misleading. It leads you to believe there would be some good/fun back and forth of the H trying to convince the h to be with him.

"My only problem? He wants more than just being my roommate... "

"That's not the biggest problem though. I don't know how I'm going to keep myself from trying to f*ck her. "

That is totally not the case. At no point did he show he wanted to be more than a roommate until SHE made a drunken pass. There was no fun interaction/flirting with each other leading up to them getting together. There was no secretive glances or yearning for the other. They went from barely acknowledging each other in passing to being head over heals in love. I would have loved to read the story the blurb was about but unfortunately this book didn't follow thru.

Leila and Dane's story.

Well, like the title said Leila and Dane are roomies. Leila
is an intern and Dane is a chef who doesn't like tell that to
people. They are no insta-love or some bang btw them in the beggining.

Dane is actually a manhore and the guy does not care until he start a
fuck buddy with Wrigley. And Leila is having a hard time in her work.
At first the plot was very simple and did not develop after 15 chapter.

When they start to have feelings to each other Leila has to work in New Jersey
and she and Dane were fighting than having a few time together.
Both Dane and Leila are very funny and despite the little drama in the end.
The all drama was very normal and like them.

Wrigley and Mick was the secondary characters but I like them more.
Both are very funny and bat chit crazy.
Mick seems a good guy and have some insecurities about kissing.

Wrigley Samantha Moreas... whatever was a surprise even she been just
a crazy girl who doesn't care about people thinking she was like a inner
voice to Dane. Thanks God did not have that other girl problem.

What bothered was that we did not see how Mick and Wrigley got together.
I am sure that they journey was funny and would be a better story.

This book gave me a headache, a massive one. It's like I' m watching a very confusing movie but I'm not stopping in hopes of understanding it in the end...my reactions while reading this was like..huh?...huh? No? What? What...? Huh?.

So the story starts with Leila looking for a roommate and Dane-the-hottie was introduced, very promising...right? No. Dane was...is a player (that's not even the issue) he sleeps around and he leila rarely talks to the point that I became attached to the girl he regularly uhm sleeps with which is Wrigley seriously sometimes I think Leila is the secondary character. Dane and Leila rarely talks and then after sleeping with Wrigley for quite sometime he realized that he was effing in love with Leila! Yes! Wait...why? Dane and Wrigley have a lot of s*x and I was like why am I reading this...I think Wrigley should be the main character since all Dane and Wrigley does is screw each other while Leila goes to work and tries to survive the stressful office life....so yeah that's it and now I'm sad and confused.

I got this book in exchange for an honest review.

Leila needs a roommate to afford her apartment. Dane is living out of a hotel. He is super cocky and he is not her first choice. But after driving one night, she did call him ands he becomes her roommate. But as things move along, they development feelings for each other. When they finally admit feelings, it is bad timing. But they go for it, but when comes time to make a decision about their future, what will they do??

I am about 50% in the book right now and these two are still dancing around each other. I understand how easy it is to misread a situation, but come on. I hate that nothing has happened between them yet. And then bam, he admits it, but bad timing. It wasn't bad, but kinda reminded me of a soap opera. Overall, a good and funny book.

I kinda love Wrigley, She is crazy but awesome at the same time. It's a great ending. Wish I could more of her story.

Pretty good story standalone Hea ending

I was quite impressed with this story. There was that emotional pull, twists and turns, and love with a happy ever after ending. I have to say that I would of changed the ending, it felt like something was missing, but was good.
Overview. Leila is looking for a roommate in her NY apartment. She works at a crappy brokerage firm, and looking for her dream job. Her last interview for the apartment is Dane the so called musician. She doesn't like him, but in a fit of drunkenness she calls and tells him to move in. Dane is a manwhore. He doesn't want a girlfriend, but he can't seem to understand why his heart is saying Leila but his body was saying Wriggley (his fun buddy). Will the two roommates find a common ground? Will they be roommates forever?

I don't feel any connection between Leila and Dane. In fact in this book Dane has more scene with other women than he has with Leila I wondered how they fell in love at all. Seriously they just saw each other at night and most time Dane has another girl in his room. There's not much interaction with the two of them. How can love blossom?
Mostly I'm just skimming the book because most of the time Dane is hooking up with some girl and it has more detail than the times he is with Leila.... Ok I didn't id skim I jumped from chapter 19 to the last chapter coz it's not working for me. Good thing this is on kindle unlimited so I didn't feel bad I spent money on something I didn't enjoy... Too bad It could have been a good one.
