How a dead man could put a sexual deviant in charge of his multi-million dollar company is beyond me. You deemed me a faggot and a screw up, making sure my life was hell as far back as I can remember.
You left behind my mother, who was so emotionally and mentally broken that she couldn’t even see what was right in front of her. Jon has scooped up the pieces that you left behind and is currently playing with them. I tried to tell her but because of you, she cannot see. I hope for her sake that something sets her straight.
I’d rather be riding a wave or my next conquest instead of being here. I’ve turned into a monster - sitting in the shadows of another’s pleasure, lurking just out of sight, getting off as a silent spectator. This is who I have become. This is who you left to run your company. This is who is sitting at your desk.
Unable to give in, too worried of what they will see, I sit back and watch how they go about their lives. The way they love, care and connect, but I can’t allow myself that luxury. I cannot become the man everyone already thinks I am.
I blame it all on you and I feel everything coming to a head. Rod is becoming harder and harder to deny. He offers everything I cannot have and everything I cannot give. He has so much faith in me - too much faith in me. He cannot see what I won’t show him and I’m scared if I do, he will run.
He’s the only one that thinks I can be the man that I need to be. Emily and Declan, hell, even Mom, none of them think I can do it. That is probably the driving force behind even trying.
I’ve watched everything from afar, but my strength is waning as the days go by. I don’t know how much longer I can go on before it all comes crashing down around me and it’s all your fault, Dad.
Jackson Steele is a screw up, let’s face it, but for some reason his dad died and left him in charge of Steele Corporation, much to his family’s disappointment. They deemed him a deviant, and a faggot, but that wasn’t true…he liked women, too. Always late for meetings, completely ignoring the company’s rules about employee relationships, Jackson’s family was just waiting to get him out, but they couldn’t force him.
Enter Rod, Jackson’s best friend (possibly his only true friend), and the only one on Jackson’s side. He’s obviously in love with Jackson, everyone could see it, but despite how much Jackson cares for him, he can’t go there. Not with him. He can’t mess that up and lose his best friend. He can’t let him know his secrets, or can he?
Jackson risks losing his company, his family that already hates him, and his best friend. What would happen if he just let everything go and didn’t worry about the consequences? If he open himself up and let his secrets out? Would he lose it all, or gain it all back and more?
Voyeur is an extremely HOT read that’ll leave you wanting more. It is M/M, so if that’s not your cup of tea, this may not be for you, but I think everyone could enjoy this story. 1-click it, you won’t be sorry!
What did I think of this book?...That's a really good question, my first thought is Way too much family drama that left me feeling exhausted. Moving on from that I thought Jackson was irritating in the extreme and behaved like a spoilt brat for most of the book. I honestly did not understand what Rod saw in him (btw who calls a character Rod?) Each time I read his name it bought to mind a different kind of 'rod', you know the sort I'm referring to. *wink* As for the villain of the piece... well he was the boo, hiss, kind, one dimensional and boringly predictable.
For me every aspect of this book somehow missed the mark; the voyeuristic aspect, the romance, the family issues and the denouement were all a bit meh. Actually, the family issues were more Arrggghh!
Overall this book was ok...a little heavy handed at times and not for me. A couple of hours later and I still feel like I've been dragged backwards through a hedge, whilst having a fist fight.
As new m/m reader I loved this book. I've never been a fan of shiny happy characters so when I met Jackson Steele he made me swoon a little bit. Even when you have money and power matters of the heart are never easy- between running a company he never wanted, sexual escapades, a deep mutual attraction to his best friend, and a bickering family Jackson Steele's life isn't easy despite him being a rich kid. Jackson never wanted to run his father's company but was left the company after his father's passing. Being a CEO wasn't in his life plans but his father had different ideas. Seen in society and in his own family as being a fuck up, Jackson buries himself in drinking and meaningless sex until a mutinous plot to steal the company out from under him is revealed. Jackson relies on the one person he can trust-his best friend Rod but that isn't complication free since one drunken night the men acted on their attraction and have been fighting it ever since. Rod sees something in Jackson that neither he or his family can see in Jackson and won't give up the man he loves easily. The mix of business, pleasure, family, and redemption makes this a fantastic read. I'm a new reader to Christine Alvarez but I look forward to reading more of her books.
This was a great book. This is a M/M that has such a good storyline. Jackson is a free spirit who loves to live life to the fullest, including his voyeuristic sexual tendencies. After his father's death, he finds himself named CEO of his family's company, much to the dismay of his family. Being forced to run a company he never wanted was bad enough, but running it beside he best friend Rod proving difficult. Rod has made it perfectly clear that he's in love with him and wants more than friendship. Jackson does have feelings for Rod but doesn't want to risk losing their life long friendship over it. Finding a way to balance everything out while keeping his sanity will be the biggest challenge of all. You don't want to miss out on this one!
This book deserves more attention than it's getting because there is no blurb. The story has very little to do with voyeurism than it does big business. Jackson Steele is the CEO and majority share holder of Steele Corp. His father broke his belief in himself then left the business to him. Though he's a decent businessman, Jackson would rather run from the company, his dysfunctional family and the love of is life. An engaging plot line follows Jackson from a runner to a man willing to stay on his terms. Well written story with good secondary characters.
I haven't read a lot of M/M books, but this one had me intrigued. Well written with flawed characters who you loved, then hated, then loved again. I enjoyed the storyline and was glad to see the "bad guy" get his in the end. And of course, there was the love story between Jackson and Rod. Hot sex with emotions. Voyeur kept me turning the pages from the start. If M/M is your thing, then I highly recommend this one!
Wow! Jackson is a complex character working through multiple personal and family issues. He believed he is so screwed up that he is no good for his best friend. Voyeur is an emotionally charged friends to lovers tale packed with scandal, demons, passion and love. It details Jackson's journey to find himself. Another great story by Christine. A twist on the usual elusive CEO stories.
It was okay. It had a good story, nothing extra special or extraordinary. There was a lot of anger and self hate in the main character, so much so that it gave me a headache. There's not a lot of likeable characters in the book.
