Overall Amanda rating A!! I absolutely love everything about this book as well as the series. I wish I would have started these earlier rather than waste my time on books that just wasn't as good. The plot? Fantastic The Characters: Leaving me hungry wanting for more. The overall writing: superb!
I really loved these books. This one had a great story that also touched on sex trafficing. Which is a real thing that we do need to be concerned about. Now the likelihood of all of these friends and family being this awesome is a little far fetched... But if it is real can I get in the community some how?? If you are looking for a great little read look for these books. :)
This book is probably one of my favorites in the series. I love the romance between Syd and Deacon. I also love the treasure Sydney has to find. The love stories of so many generations come together.
I also really liked how Deacon and Sydney worked together to solve the case of the missing girl.
I've probably said this more than I could count but I'll say it again anyway... It's always been nice to go back to Keeneston. Until now, I still can't get over the idea that Keeneston is an imaginary place. I would seriously move there anytime if I can.
This next installment to the Forever Bluegrass was even better than the first one. There was an outpouring of emotion right at the beginning. As someone who have read all the Bluegrass novels, I felt like I was part of the town already and that's why I could relate to how the people felt at every turn of events as I would in my own hometown.
I liked the idea that the heroine was introduced by her grandmother to the hero in a very unique manner. And I liked how the hero was already half in love with her already even before she knew of his existence.
Of course, I love that my favorite Kathleen Brooks character - Ahmed was very much into this story (as any 0ther character was). It made me look forward to how things will be if it's his daughter's turn for a love story. And his interactions with the dog, Robyn was really hilarious and reminded me of the 'old times'.
One of the things I love most about romances written by Kathleen Brooks was the fact that the main characters were aware of how they felt for each other even if it's just a little past the middle of the book. Most romances tend to circle around the characters feelings and only 'come into the open' about near the end. Kathleen's were never like that which is why you could always expect a good conflict and sub conflicts when reading her novels.
This book was complete with suspense, romance, humor and love. The people of Keeneston, the Davies family and the new generation delivered a great story of humor, love, friendship and family.
Dinner with the Davies is always nice to watch and I always looked forward to how the other party will handle it. I'd say Deacon did a great job at it. And no doubt, Sydney's grandmother, Ruth helped him a whole lot.
I enjoyed everything about this book and I can't wait to read the next one.
This was such a sweet book and while it is what you expect from Kathleen Brooks I did like the fact that is was a tiny bit different to the other books . I loved getting to see all the old favourite characters and although we lose one of these characters in this story it lead to gaining Deacon. I think one of the best scenes of the book was the Davis family dinner which was funny but the scenes that took the cake where definitely of Ahmed and Robyn. I think Robyn had to be my favourite character in the book especially with her love of designer shoes, so although she isn't in the book much she has a huge personality and I hope we get to see more of her or her family members! As always Kathleen has included a little suspense although we get a double dose of it with the crime element and Sydney's quest. If you are a fan of this series I think you will love this book and if you are new to Kathleen Brooks you could read this book as a one off but to get to know the backstory to all the characters you meet along the way I would suggest you start with her Bluegrass series then move onto the Bluegrass Brothers and finally this series. I can wait for the next book and I really hope we see Nash come back so the 4th book of the series can be Sophie and Nash's!
Biased opinion coming up, I love this book, I love the continuation of the story of the Davies family, town of Keeneston, and finding true love. A sprinkle of suspense, horror, sizzle, mystery and good old fashion romance. Kathleen Brooks kills it, the whole saga is addictive, it's brilliantly written, engaging, enchanting and down right good!!!!! This is a must read, for those who haven't found this series try it, you won't be disappointed.
Forever Hidden is the second book in the Forever Bluegrass series (Bluegrass Book #16) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm. A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up. Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read. With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all. The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter. But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating. I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed. Happy reading! 📚💙
Given the high rating of this book this is clearly an 'it's me not you' type situation. I'm definitely going against the grain but I'm 48% in and I'm so bored! I just feel nothing for the story and I've been skimming.
Sydney is apparently a former model and now a world famous designer but I'm not buying it. It's like the author tried to come up with a super impressive backstory but there's no evidence or details to give it depth or credibility. Well, unless that was in book 1? Saying 'At 28, Sydney was a force in the international fashion industry' doesn't make it so. And calling her label Sydney International? Lame.
To me the writing is often a bit stilted or camp. There's been a few (too many) confrontations and the words coming out of people's mouths is hilarious. In one scene Sydney is attacked in her bed and I legit thought she was having a dream it was so unbelievable. She finds the time to insult the 'bad guy' by responding with "I may be 30 pounds heavier than when I retired, but eww your bone structure is horrible". And then she screams "where is bailey?" And 'bad guy' says "where you will never get her!" Pretty sure he should have twirled a moustache and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Another scene is when Deacon thinks Sydney's brother is an intruder. Brother asks "Where's Sydney?" and Deacon snarls "some place you will never find her!". Well she's in the next room so I'd say he'll find her. And another: "you'll have to kill me to get to her" (with ice dripping from his words no less).
And I felt absolutely nothing when Sydney and Deacon declared their love for each other.
Maybe i'm dead inside but this book is not for me. If I try and finish the rest maybe I'll get hooked but I don't like my chances. Each to their own I suppose!
I absolutely loved Kathleen Brooks’ Bluegrass series and since this is a spinoff of that, I figured I couldn’t go wrong. It’s now the children’s turns to find their happily ever after. This one is about Sydney Davies and Deacon McKnight. It’s adorable, it’s sweet, it’s typical Keeneston. It also deals with the very heavy subject of sex trafficking, but it does so in a way that leaves the reader sighing in relief.
Sydney had no idea when her Great-grandma Wyatt died that her inheritance would forever change her life. Just before she dies, Great-grandma Wyatt reveals some family secrets to Sydney and then makes her promise that she’ll find the hidden treasure and bring it home. Little does she know that Great-grandma Wyatt is going to reach beyond the grave to make sure that Sydney finds everything she’s ever dreamed of. Deacon McKnight hasn’t spoken to his father for years because he got tired of being manipulated. Imagine his surprise when he figures out what Mrs. Wyatt has been up to for the last five years…
Most of the action in this one isn’t centered in Keeneston like the previous books, but all of your favorite characters are involved in one way or another. Since I’m from the area that Ms Brooks has set this series in, I can’t help but envision downtown Midway, KY whenever Keeneston is described. I love this area, I love this series!
This story was so good. So romantic! So sweet! So passionate! So funny in places! So perfect! As I was reading it I kept thinking how enjoyable it was! Add to all that that there was a little mystery and suspense thrown in and you have just the right combination to satisfy and delight any reader!!! I love these characters.... I love the friendships and family connections that are skillfully woven into these series from other parts of the series. I love the different generations of family and friends....... Kathleen is such a beautiful author she makes her characters stand out from the pages and you feel you know them really well! I think one of the things that has kept me reading and enthralled through the Bluegrass Series, the Bluegrass Brothers Series, and now the Bluegrass Forever series is that I really " like" the people in the books and who they are, and their fierce loyalty and love for each other. Wouldn't we all like to have family and friends to support us and be there for us like that? Get a Kathleen Brooks Bluegrass Series book and start reading and you will be so glad you did!!
This has child trafficking so be aware if this is a trigger for you.
Sydney Davies former model now a fashion designer with her own company is given a quest. On her death bed her great grandmother asks her to find the family treasure. She leaves a house in Atlanta to Sydney and tells her to go there. When she goes to dig it up she finds Deacon McKnight a P.I. living there. Turns out he has been renting it from her gran and through letters for 5 yrs knows the family well.
Lots of funny characters, suspense and romance. I really liked this book as well as the series and each book is a bit predictable but love the audios as they are so well done. The main couple are so good together and realize they are in love and treat each other accordingly. No OW or unnecessary drama aside from her protective father wanting to kill her boyfriend LOL.
Sydney Davies must find her great grandmother's fairly treasure but to do that, she has to start in Atlanta. Imagine her surprise when she arrives and finds someone living in the house her great grandmother owns but hasn't told any one about. Sydney and Deacon find themselves in the middle of an adventure that will change them both forever.
Kathleen Brooks has another hit in this story. She manages to incorporate the past with the present and do so flawlessly. I love catching up with Keenston and seeing the kids reaction to their parent's antics. I hope we have some memorable moments from the kids like we have from the parents.
From Audible Account Review: I'm guilty for listening to some of the series out of order so I already loved Deacon and Sydney in later books. Sydney is gifted with a treasure hunt upon her Grandmothers death to find out the Daughters of Elizabeth family secrets. The fun introduction between Deacon and Syd as he discovers her digging up his backyard leads to a hot romance, action and suspense as they work together on a PI to find a missing hopeful model leading to an FBI investigation. Of course the people of Keenston are always happy to help out.
One of my favorite parts about the women of Keenston is their over protective fathers and grandbaby hungry mothers. Fortunately, Deacon wins them over with ease.
Eric G. Dove is amazing and I have yet to listen to a book narrated by him that I haven't enjoyed.
Forever Hidden delivers another gripping tale filled with suspense and unexpected twists. Sydney Davies, a former model turned fashion designer, is pulled into a case involving a missing girl tied to her industry. As she uncovers dark family secrets, she crosses paths with Deacon McKnight, a determined investigator, and sparks fly. The plot's intrigue keeps readers on edge, with Sydney and Deacon's growing connection providing a strong emotional core. The suspense is expertly balanced with romance, and the stakes escalate as danger closes in on Sydney. Brooks’s ability to weave a compelling mystery around complex characters makes this second book in the series an enthralling read that fans of romantic suspense will love.
I couldn't stop reading ... way past my bedtime. But I expect nothing less. Anything by Brooks is a winner. Her characters are so real, they become your personal friends. She is a wonderful storyteller. I like that they carry over from one book to the next. Keeneston, KY is the small town you wish you live in.
This book has everything; suspense, mystery, romance and humor. This series is all about the third generation of friends and cousins. Each book leaves you wanting more.
I love the forever bluegrass series. The books are all stand alone reads and can be read in any order. Full of strong heroines and protective heroes who have action adventure, romance, and light mystery. Being a Hoosier, I'm not sure I like the bad guys congregating at a Hoosier football event, but such is the rivalry between Indiana and Kentucky sports. I do look forward to reading more in the series.
I love when a Author Like Kathleen Brooks takes a issue that people dont realize how much it exists. They bring a light and shiw us it does, show us how the strong survive. Mrs Brooks bring you a well written story of how our lives can start way before we knuw. How bad can be turned to good and how love threw hundreds of years guides our lives I cant wait to read more
When I get tired of reading I always come back to Miss Kathleen, her Bluegrass series got me started on loving books again. Sydney and Deacon meet in an odd way but they still manage to hit it off. Will Deacon survive the town and Sydney’s family?? Another hit for Miss Kathleen I was up pretty much all-night reading. I hope you enjoy!! Happy reading!!!
I ABSOLUTELY love the series. I can't wait to read the next book. It captured you're attention from the first paragraph and doesn't let you look away until you're done with the last one. Writing seems effortless and the characters feel so real you can almost see them.
Nothing gets past Grandmothers, let alone Great-grandmothers!
Isn't it the truth that what is inside is what really matters! No matter how rich, famous, talented or plain one is, it's the heart that makes the difference and how your family raised you.
Another wonderful book in the Keeneston series. Mmmmm I wonder who Zain saw across the room, and is he next?
Loved the story. As always, Kathleen is a great author. This book captured me and held my attention start to finish. A little suspense, but not dark at all. My favorite character is Robyn. You can read as a stand alone, but I recommend starting with the Bluegrass Series. This is the next generation.
It starts off sad but quickly gets entertaining. Sydney meets Deacon doing something very unusual. Deacon feels like he's known Sydney for years. Sydney realizes pretty quick that Deacon is sweet, sexy and loyal. The work together to find a missing woman. They become close and a relationship is born.
This is another great book by Kathleen. I love all the books so much and have read several many times. Unfortunately these books Re beyond my budget so I have to wait for my library to have them or on sale. I would love to read more.
Loved this one, it has a tough subject but was written brilliantly and not to graphic. How they met was amazing what a story and to find out why this happened was just great what a twist. They make an exalant pair and can't wait to read more in this series.
Before Mrs. Wyatt passed away she told her great granddaughter Sidney Davies a family secret. While on the adventurous journey her great grandmother set her on, Sidney meets Deacon McKnight and helps him end a sex trafficking ring posing as a modeling agency.
I keep waiting to get bored, as I have with many other authors that have similar series where they have many stories about people close together (if that makes sense) but book after book I cant put them down! Thanks, Kathleen!
Have been reading about the Davies for awhile now. This book had me in tears as of the 2nd chapter. I get into my books. I love that Kathleen can capture my attention and keep great hold til the end. On to the next one!!!
Great story, as usual Kathleen Brooks Tells a great tale that keeps you interested all the way to the end. Have read a lot of her books and I recommend that you won’t be disappointed.
