Mindy booked a week's holiday on a ranch in her hometown for one reason only: to convince Logan, a guy she went to school with, to sell the ranch mineral rights to her stepfather's company. She wants her stepfather to see that she is good at her job and he's not exactly giving her many other chances to prove herself. Logan is thrilled to have his childhood crush staying with them and the attraction he feels hasn't been dulled by the years they've spent apart. He's not happy when he finds out why she came though and sets out to teach her a lesson for lying to him. As Logan ties her up in knots Mindy starts to realise that she's had her priorities all wrong but can she prove to Logan that she's now on his side when her stepfather comes to town and starts throwing his weight around?.

I was a bit worried that Mindy's secret would be hanging over their heads for most of the book so I was relieved she was found out pretty much immediately and that she'd already decided she'd made a mistake in trying to trick Logan. She never lies to him and she is quick to apologise and try to make amends which I appreciated. Mindy spent so long desperately trying to get away from her small hometown and make a new life for herself in Dallas that she's shocked by how right it feels being back in Bolero. Then when she realises that Logan is also into the kink scene things just fit together but she's still scared to make the leap.

Logan is a hardworking guy who just wants to make a success of his family's ranch. It's been hard work starting the business and he's up to his eyes in debt but he's determined to turn a profit and get the bank off his back. He always had a crush on Mindy but while he was a geeky teenager she was the homecoming queen and he never stood a chance. Now she's back but he's worried about scaring her off with his kinky side. When he realises she's a sub and shares all the same kinks as him he knows they could have something special but with her stepfather determined to destroy his land it's hard to trust that Mindy isn't still secretly working against him.

Cowboys and BDSM, who knew that would be such a recipe for success? Well actually when you think about it kinky cowboys seems like a bit of a no brainer, I mean who wouldn't want to read a series ? I'd forgotten how much I enjoy Delphine Dryden's writing, I loved her geeky hero Ivan in The Theory of Attraction and she's proved she's just as good at creating alpha cowboys with Logan. Ride 'Em was everything I'd hoped for, it had some very sweet and funny moments, a great cast of side characters, a believable romance and some hot as hell kink. Logan's brother Ethan is up next and since he's a rope expert I have very high hopes for his story too and I can't wait to continue this series.

Ride 'Em is a mix of cowboy and BDSM-quite the mix-and one I loved! I am not a huge fan of cowboys-yes I know-but this one grabbed me and I practically read it straight-through!

Logan bought his ranch from his grandparents and gave up his career to make the ranch into what it used to be. He wants guests to come and enjoy the ranch by experiencing the cowboy way of life.

Mindy comes home with a mission on her mind. She wants to talk to Logan about leasing the mineral rights to the ranch. His family was never interested before, but now that Logan owns it, maybe he will be. If she can secure the rights, she secures her place in her step-dad's business and she's sure it will impress him! She goes to the ranch with the excuse of vacationing there. She knows Logan from when they were in school, but when caught red-handed oogling a hunky cowboy, its none other than Logan himself! She had no idea he would look so devastatingly hot! Last time she saw him, he was a nerd with braces! Gosh he filled out nice!! When she catches a hand calling Logan Sir, she does a double take. Could Logan possibly be a Dom too?? As her mind begins to work overtime, she finds that she longs for the kink she's been missing and having a Dom.

Logan is shocked that Mindy is at the ranch-his ranch! She still makes his heart go pitter-pat and even more to his nether regions!! He gets a submissive vibe from her but doesn't want to go there. His mind goes into overtime thinking of all the wickedly hot things he'd like to do to her-with her. Things progress rather quickly and pretty soon they are acting out their deepest kinks! They did tend to be on the S&M side of things, but both enjoyed it. When Logan finds out that she lied about her true reason to be there, can he stop what they are sharing??

This one grabbed me and it didn't let up. It was very well written and I loved the characters. I have read other books by Delphine Dryden and this was exactly what I would expect! There were a couple of scenes where I was a bit uncomfortable, but everyone was safe in the end. All in all, it was a great intro to some fun characters which give way to future books!

Ride `Em brings together two of my favourite genres: Cowboys and BDSM. The story starts out with a modicum of mystery and intrigue when a home coming Queen returns to her roots with an ulterior motive. But the gangly boy, who once tutored her through high school, has grown into a virile hunk of a man that melts her panties with just one look.

I warmed to Logan’s character immediately, with his drive to turn the family ranch into a profitable venture and his determination to preserve the natural beauty of the land which was his childhood home. However the arrival of Mindy Valek and the realisation that they share the same desire for kink, spoilt some of my previous fondness for Logan.

Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t the BDSM component of the story that bothered me as I’ve read many such series and I’m quite a fan, but I did struggle with the fine line drawn between kink and childish spitefulness. It doesn’t take long to realise Logan and Mindy’s tastes are Sadist and Masochist, which is not for everyone, myself included. But a couple of scenes were not true to the BDSM world where discretion, along with safe, sane and consensual are paramount; out in the open in the company of vanilla couples who could easily have witnessed their reckless behaviour, was definitely NOT something true BDSM enthusiasts would indulge in.

That aside I did like the story, which was well written, had a fun and interesting support cast, a great setting and promises more from the crew from Bolero, Texas. Having read some fabulous BDSM authors, who thoroughly research their references, I do hope the author is mindful if she plans on writing more of the same.

Good enough that I bought the second one in the series. It was better than competent, but lacked the emotional punch I always hope for. Truthfully, the extraromantical parts (about the MC and her stepfather) were the most compelling.

Yikes. I keep remembering books I read & forgot to review. Ugh. I don't really need to do this to have them count for my challenge, which I already met...but wouldn't it be nice to begin the new year with a clean slate?

Ride 'Em is my first book that combines a cowboy and BDSM and I loved it!! It's also the first book I've read by Delphine Dryden and it won't be my last!

Logan purchased his grandparents ranch and he decided to give up his job to do this. He will once again, open it up for guest to experience the cowboy way of life.

Mindy is going home to hopefully talk Logan into leasing the mineral rights to his newly acquired property. His parents and grandparents weren't interested and he did know her in high school...she tutored him. Mindy is trying to avoid being the next one that gets the axe from her step dad's business. She's got to get this contract so he'll be impressed with her. He doesn't care that everyone so far has refused to lease it to him...he only cares that Logan is new the owner.

Mindy arrives at the ranch under the pretense that she's on vacation and not that she's there on business. She sees a gorgeous cowboy and decides to enjoy the view, when she's caught ogling him!! Of all the cowboys, it's Logan! She hasn't seen him since he was a nerd with braces in high school and lord knows she had no idea he was a cowboy....WOW he grew up nicely!! Being here...she really missed having a Dom and her kink. She catches Robert calling Logan Sir...could he be a Dom?

Logan is shocked that Mindy is here..at his ranch! She's gorgeous and still makes his heart skip beats, also a few things south of belt. He catches a sub movement from her but puts the thought aside because no one in this area has any kink (other than his employee Robert). Or do they? He would love to do things to her that he probably shouldn't, but when he finds out she lied as to why she's here, can he put his wants aside?

This was a great book! Loved the characters! Loved the story, in general! Very different and HOT!! I look forward to reading more by Delphine Dryden!

There were two things that initially drew my attention towards Ride 'Em, First of all, who can say no to that cover? Yum! Then, of course, there was the synopsis. A sexy rancher with a kinky side? A strong minded heroine that will only beg in the bedroom? Where do I sign up? What I didn't expect was to grin, laugh, and swoon throughout the whole book. I loved every moment of this story, from the author's witty writing to all of the lovable characters. As much as I loved Logan, Mindy, and the rest of their kinky friends, I'd have to say it was Robert that made me giggle the most. At it's core, this book was a great second chance romance with a bittersweet homecoming. For Logan, she was the popular cheerleader he never thought he had a chance with. So of course, he crushed on Mindy from a distance. Mindy is confused. When she should be homesick for Dallas, she realizes that her heart might belong in a town she couldn't wait to leave. Together they found a reason to fight for what they want - love and a kinky ranch to explore their wild side. Ride 'Em was a fun, sexy, and a hell of a good time. Sucks that we have to wait until March of next year for the second book. In the meantime, I'll just have to explore Delphine's other books.

Mindy just wants to prove herself to her stepfather Bud that she can get the land he had been after for a long time. She figures Logan owns the ranch now and being he used to be her math tutor and kind of nerdy it would be easy. Logan has always had the hots for Mindy she was homecoming queen so when she books a week at his ranch he isn't quite sure what to make of it. Logan needs money to pay the loan on this place but not to give up land for drilling and once someone told him who her stepfather was he realized that was why she was here. He calls her on the deception and her submissive side starts to show and he can't believe it but when he tied her up in the barn it shows how she is. Mindy thinks Logan may be a Dom by his actions but when Robert calls him sir she is convinced. Logan has decided that while Mindy is here she is gonna help out as punishment for her deception but Mindy finds she likes it. This is a great story to begin with and I can't wait to read more about Giddyup in the next story.

Yeehaw! I rode this story hard and was put up wet! As a central Texas gal, this book really strummed on my fantasies. I've never read a book that combined my two favorite fantasies - cowboys and kink! The author pulled this story off flawlessly and created a new genre in my book fantasies. The characters were well developed with palpable emotions and with real life struggles of everyday life and small town drama. You get to truly feel for Mindy and Logan as they waltz with their emotions and desires for each other. The play scenes were absolutely charming with plenty of fun and sparky kink that was completely realistic and described down to the smallest detail. This book was absolutely fascinating to indulge in as they discovered both their love for each other and how to rescue the ranch. I truly, thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would love to see what else the author has stored in her leather saddlebags!

I loved this. As a kinky redhead from Texas, I feel like Ms Dryden wrote this JUST FOR ME and I am so so grateful. The characters are a delight and so *real*; I kept screencapping excerpts to show friends. It's a cowboy novel with ZERO awful cowboy metaphors!

And the sex is so, so, so hot.

(This author does have a bit of a quirk that I've noticed, in that her characters can be oddly meta about kink, even during a scene. But this is such a minor quibble, and it's so delightful to read people who actually sound like real people, that I forgive it.)

I want to be fair. The book is very well written, the characters are nice. Mindy and Logan have great chemistry and the plot,though simple is interesting so I couldn't rate it based on my personal feelings abut harcore BDSM. Mindy had pleasure through extreme pain, s give it low rating based on that so if you enjoy BDSM mixed with a great romance, go for it!

I thought there was too much of the heroine's family drama. Boo hoo I don't want my stepfather to cause problems with my mother.

The romance between the hero and heroine was fun. I can't wait for the secondary characters to get a book. The hero's cousin, Chet, the sheriff, who was captain of the football team and debate team in high school, who is obsessed with law and order, seems like his book would be a hoot.

DNF @ 17%. Unfortunately, this book did not work for me. I picked this up over the span of several days, but I found the pacing very slow and the story just didn't hold my attention.

I won this book from Goodreads and it should have been X-Rated. I did not realize that when I started to read it. I kept picking it up and putting it down and reading other books in between. It was just a bit TOO much for me.

I like Logan & hope that the guest ranch does well, but I did not like all the abuse that took place, no matter what the reason. Some women have a very hard life.

Logan moves back to his hometown to save the ranch where he grew up...Mindy returns for a week vacation at Dude Ranch and runs into geeky Logan..who isn't so geeky anymore!!!
Mindy has a motive to get the mineral right but Logan shows her how the ranch is his home and together they find a spicy way to save the ranch and the romance between them!

I am so glad Ms. Dryden is writing again. This book is really good - it's got kink, love and a nice dose of humour. I laughed out loud a number of times. I'm looking forward to Ethan's story next.
