This was bad, like really bad! The guys are mean to each other and the whole love triangle with his best
friend's wife is creepy! These people can't
get over how old they are and constantly reference
it. There is no character development or growth. There is no resolution with the son. She never grows past her previous hurts. There is no reason other than sex that they invest in each other...is that enough? Oh yeah and ALL THEY DO IS HAVE SEX! UGH!!!

The Good: NOTHING!

The BAD: All of it!

The Verdict: 1 Star

A rotten read. Soft porn disguised as romance. A shame the writer has never been to Chicago (or if so, has been there blindfolded) and does not realize that no woman in the last decade has worn a puffy coat. Will and Bette are not real people, and this is not a real story. Thanks, though, to Net Galley for the read.

I tore through this book in two days, and for a girl who reads at a leisurely pace, that's saying something! I was pulled in right from the get-go by the effortless storytelling, the humor, and the snappy dialogue. The way the hero and heroine meet can only be described as one of the most interesting love-at-first-sightings ever written. After just one glimpse of Betty Asher, Will Tarrant thinks she might be the one.

As luck (or fate) would have it, the two officially become acquainted soon after. The more he gets to know the sweet Southern Belle, the more he's convinced that she's his Fate. But Betty believes people make their own fate, and not even the insane amounts of chemistry between the two can sway her into thinking there's more to this than sex.

Despite her beliefs, she winds up back in Will's life again when she applies for a job in his office. He hires her on the spot. “We can burn up the bed sheets, then I’ll bury you in spreadsheets.” - Just one of the reasons why I fell so hard for Will. He's bold, confident, sexy as hell, and he's not afraid to go after what he wants. Life experience has taught him that The One only comes along once in your life. It takes a man like that to help Betty find herself again. He fuels her fantasies and fills her with a confidence she thought was long-lost.

When we're reintroduced to characters from Three Little Words, Greg and Josie, the story really hits another level of fabulous. I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion at the outrageous dialogue and the heated and hilarious interactions between all four characters. Betty soon realizes this new life, formed out of bad judgement, good luck, and a smidge of happenstance, is exactly the life she's been hoping for.

“I believe we make our own Fate.”
“Then I’m asking you to choose me. Make me your fate.”

Siiiiigh. I'll be reading this one again and again!

Author Maggie Wells has a way with words. Her latest release, A Will and a Way, is no exception to the quality I’ve come to expect from her.

What I love about a Maggie Wells hero is his vulnerability. The chink in his armor. That brief flicker of insecurity or flash of doubt that reveals his humanity. In this title, for example, Will believes in fate (a refreshing character trait to find in a hero), but that doesn’t mean the object of his affection will necessarily reciprocate.

Cue Betty in her puffy coat—a style that has cycled back into favor recently, much like Betty’s own sense of self-worth.

What follows is a liberating storyline of self-discovery on the heroine’s part, which translates into finally standing up for what she wants out of life.

A change of scenery.
Holding her wandering, entitled son to a higher standard.
And, last but not least, a sexual awakening.

Cue Will in his “waffle-weave Henley.”

The dance between these two is nothing short of fun, feisty, and flaming hot. Elements such as quick-witted banter, a local nun, and office-place improprieties ramp up the title’s already unique “seasoned romance” aspect even further. As Will and Betty illustrate, vibrancy and romance have a place in all seasons of life, and it was a joy as a reader to be along for the ride.

I liked that the hero was into the heroine from the start and for the long haul - although the beginning kind of detracted from it because he falls in love 50 times a day, what was to say THIS time was different from all the others? (Although it was)

I do really love that we have more "mature" characters [read: old(er)] characters falling in love, having great sex, and living their lives - or "starting anew" - gives us all hope right? :P

Some of it just wasn't engaging for me, maybe it was my mood, and her whole headcaseness - but otherwise the interaction between the other characters when it wasn't the sex/relationship stuff was great. [Although Josie seems to have undergone something of a personality transplant from her own book. It was just a smidge TOO much...]

I like Three Little Words more, but the more I think about it, the more I'm like "yeah - this was good too and I'd definitely like to read more books with similary situated characters."

[The heroine at points though it was too much/goofy and the introduction/bus stop thing was a slog for me - probably what set the tone for me in the book and why I wasn't so drawn in.]

Fun read!! A Will and a Way is the perfect read when you need to relax with a little romance & a HEA. Betty is a broken southern belle looking for a fresh start in a new town & Will is the perfect man to lead her down a exciting new path.

Fast read with a lot of hot loving. And a HEA- couldn't ask for more. Will be reading more by Maggie Wells!

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an independent review.
Will is a man who loves women and wants to find the one. He is cute, sexy and a "lad". Betty is a sassy Southern belle.
If you want a book that has meaning and depth, then this book is not for you. If you want an easy lighthearted, escapism type book with some heat and smut, then read this. It's fun and a quick read. 3***
