The Burning City is a quick, easy and entertaining read.

Siren, turned tattoo artist, June is dealing with numerous power hungry people. Some want her blood, some want her lover and some just want her ability. June must traverse a web of treachery and lies and hopefully make the right decision to survive with a life she can live with.

This was a shorter novel with an original plot and interesting characters. The concept was great but I never connected to the characters.

I received this ARC copy of The Burning City from Kensington Books - Lyrical Press in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication July 5, 2016

*MY Thoughts*

The Burning City is the third and final installment in Megan Morgan's Siren Song Trilogy. For protagonist, tattoo artist, Siren, and budding Necromancer June Coffin, the past SIX months haven't exactly been a dream vacation. It has been filled with being shot, hunted, taken prisoner, and watching those she loves put in dire jeopardy. She's had to face her fair share of villains, including one very important one in Robbie Beecher who is still running loose in Chicago. She's also learned that her powers may in fact, be killing her.

When the smoke clears, who will be left standing?

Tattoo artist June Coffin has another, more hidden talent: she’s a Siren who can influence people with the sound of her voice. But in the wake of a murder and shake-up at the Institute of Supernatural Research, her own powers are starting to kill her. The only chance she has of saving herself—as well as her kidnapped brother and best friend—is to become a vampire. But joining the ranks of the vengeful vamp, Occam Reed, is the last thing June wants to do.

Occam isn’t the only danger June needs to worry about. Power hungry telepath Robbie Beecher will stop at nothing to gain control over Chicago. He’ll destroy anyone who gets in his way—and June’s lover, Sam, is high on the hit list since his bid for Mayor. With the city and June’s heart being pulled in different directions, it’s only a matter of time before the powder keg explodes…and time isn’t something June has much of left. With a city on fire, can she rise from its ashes?

Review:

This is a case where I should have not read the series out of order, but I was so intrigued by the title that I had to grab it up. I liked the concept and the writing style of the Author. From what I got from reading this story, it sounds like the series is full of action and intrigue set in an interesting alternate world with supernatural beings and humans living along side each other. I missed just so much coming in at the end of the series or at least I think it is the end.

I am now going back and reading the first two books in the series to get to know these interesting characters.

Rated 3.5!

June Coffin is sick of being dealt the crap hand in life. Just when things seem to be turning around, she learns she is at death's door. June has been offered a chance to survive by a very powerful supernatural, Occam Reed. The only catch being that she must become one of the undead. While the offer is certainly unappealing, it may just be June's only option.

With her brother and her business partner/friend being held as Occam's captives. June must play by the rules if she doesn't want to put their lives at risk. To make matters more complicated, June's lover, Sam, has an enemy just waiting to take him out. June definitely has more than enough on her plate, but with Sam by her side, she is more than determined to survive it all.

Author Megan Morgan's SIREN SONG is thrilling. It currently consists of three action-packed novels, THE WICKED CITY, THE BLOODY CITY and most currently, THE BURNING CITY. June Coffin is back and more bad*ss than ever THE BURNING CITY. With Sam Hainn by her side, these two get up to a whole lot more trouble. I loved watching their relationship finally flourish and grow. June is definitely becoming more powerful than ever as is Sam. What a wonderful series!

Excellent read. Love this series! Morgan creates a very realistic world with realistic people. I love that she included the main characters dealing with issues related to being in hiding for so long.

Loved the ending, hungry for more!

Also, to speak more on the ending...
