This book was wonderful—I love studying health, nutrition, and overall wellness. This is a great book for beginners, but as someone who knows quite a bit, I still really enjoyed this approach. I loved the holistic wisdom, that was a great blend of naturopath, science studies, and Chinese medicine. This book is not overwhelming, and very helpful.
I really enjoyed this book because it had a lot of good and easily digestible information for a beginner. I am beginning a journey into a more natural approach to health. This book was a good starting point. It covers a lot of info, but I probably would not recommend this book for someone who already has a ton of knowledge. Those with significant background in nutrition, health, etc. probably already know a lot of this information in this little book. Checked it out from the library, but will purchase it for my own library.
Notes for myself: *pg. 29-32 *pg. 41 *pg. 103 Probably needed to mark more pages, but there were times I was not reading with post-its handy. Oh well.
Such a good and helpful read! It wasn’t repetitive or consisting of basic common sense like a lot of “health” books. I loved how the “why’s” were explained in scientific terms that pretty much anyone would be able to understand. This book truly heightened my knowledge behind why I do certain things (drink water, take vitamins, exercise, etc..) as well as introducing me to new ways to continue protecting my health.
Great book! Very informative especially if you want to create your own health and beauty regimen. Most of the info is similar to what I read in the book "6 Keys (c) 2018" by J. Michaels. However, this book was published before (c) 2016 and you can definitely tell the author is very knowledgeable in what she shares with her audience. This book is like having a doctor friend by your side advising and guiding you on better health choices. What I love most about this book is the natural alternatives presented. I also liked the chart of vitamins and supplements and what works for what ailments. I also liked the checklist (at the end) for better health and glow. The checklist is for you (the reader) to complete and input what will work for you in the areas of 1) beauty sleep (sleeping) 2) beauty feasting (eating) 3) move in your glow zone (exercise) 4) inner peace (de-stress) 5) spring cleaning (detox) and 6) glowing remedies (vitamin and supplement nutrients). Great resource to have on hand. I have purchased a copy to keep on hand and markup!
I really liked this book. It had good tips and good information... I've been all natural for a while and have done some previous reading on this topic so this book didn't have much information that was new to me. But it was well presented and an easy enjoyable read.
This really is the cute little book about health and beauty. Much of the advice we've heard before: eat more greens, get more sleep, meditate, try alternative therapies, etc. What makes this book stand out is its small size and brevity.
I thought this book was a really interesting read full of really useful information we should all know on how to take better care of our body. Our sleep schedules, eating certain foods, etc. Lots of great tips and tricks !
Received as a Goodreads giveaway. I read this book in fits and starts - it seems there were more interesting books waiting for me along the way. Reading it sporadically was probably better for my overall opinion of the book, because in several spots I thought, "Didn't I read this once already?" and then dismissed it. It wasn't what I was looking for - I wanted something that made health more accessible. I mean, I know you can't eat cheeseburgers and fries every day and feel healthy. But then, I have zero desire to take a pile of supplements, pulque, dandelion greens or flaxseed either. For someone already on a whole health path, it may be fine. However, the subtitle - "Simple Daily Habits to Get You Glowing" - is a fallacy. Not simple, and not going to become the everyman's daily habits. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to drink a glass of water and take a walk.
Great read for those who like to limit their exposure to toxins and prefer a natural path toward health and beauty. There were lots of tips for growing old gracefully, without botox, GPLs, and tummy tucks. This book also encourages women to embrace their age, beauty and wisdom and not fret so much over trying to stay or look young. It is about being healthy from the inside which creates a glow on the outside. There were some tips that were dated but there were also quite a few tips I had no yet learned
There are so many books on achieving maximum health and beauty that it's a minor miracle when one really stands out in the crowd—and Dr. Pina LoGiudice's THE LITTLE BOOK OF HEALTHY BEAUTY is a real standout. LoGiudice, a naturopathic doctor and founder of the naturopathic clinic Inner Source Health, writes with engaging energy, humor and confidence. The book's layout is also very inviting. While LoGiudice covers an abundant amount of material, it is delivered in easily-digested bite-sized nuggets on cleverly designed pages. This is not a health and beauty book that drones on; it's an energetic quick-read that is chock-full of so many interesting tips and facts that most readers will finish the book with dozens of dog-eared pages to be shared with family and friends.
LoGiudice's goal is to help readers "glow" (or attain a "look that communicates vitality, essence, and energy." This can be achieved through better sleep habits (ideally more than seven hours per night); a healthy diet (she recommends the Mediterranean diet for longevity and health); vitamin supplements (vitamin-deficient soils deprive even healthy foods of vitamins); exercise (a combo of cardio, flexibility and balance work), relaxation (meditation, massage and acupuncture) and detoxification (eliminating toxins that accelerate your inner and outer aging process). The outward manifestation of looking and feeling younger comes from your inner vitality.
THE LITTLE BOOK OF HEALTHY BEAUTY is a concise, buoyantly optimistic and encouraging resource filled with holistic and scientific facts and advice that make heading down the road toward good health feel achievable.
This upbeat, encouraging and good-humored guide offers a holistic approach to longevity, good health, vitality and a visible glow.
Received a copy from Goodreads First Reads giveaways.
This was just okay for me. Just a gloss over or short summary of ways to improve your health naturally. The book makes it sound simple, but most of the information has been around before and some should be common knowledge of what we should be doing for our bodies. As for supplement usage I would discuss this with my personal physician before I delve too far into this realm.
I read a ton about health but there was still some new to me info in this one. The best piece being that it is a myth that if you exercise to close to bedtime you won't be able to sleep. Also tons of information on supplements if you are interested. In general a quick read that still manages to be inspiring. My one complaint is that she left out yoga! A key to vibrant health imho... :)
