A sweet love story!!!

Lara Henley has provided her readers with a very sweet love story. it is filled with many emotions and makes the reader want to find their own Brandon ;)

It was very refreshing to read a story that touches on the issues that many are either scared or embarrassed to talk about -- PTSD. Also, the attraction and love that Brandon and Arebella share is something that we all wish to experience one day.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read and a timeless love story. Well done Ms. Henley. I look forward to reading more from you in the future :)

Confusing. She has wanted to see him again since she was 5 yet she blows him off, he then comes on too strong. Couple of editing issues. A few eye-rolling bits of dialogue. ~ Where did he get money to buy property before deploying? Was he just out of high school? No info on former job, their ages etc. leaves me with lots of questions. Weirdest/worst first date ever? In the epilogue, is her name Sarah or Betsy? Arrogant much??

I need to get her alone. “Hey, you wanna get outta here?” I ask her.
“Not with you. I don’t know you.”
Well, eff that stings a little bit. “I’m not crazy. I promise you.”
“And that’s what all crazy people say.”
“Do you make all the guys work this hard to get to know you?”
“Nope. I just ignore them, so you’re lucky I’m talking to you.”
Ouch. She’s feisty. I like feisty.
“Wow, well. I don’t even know how to respond to that. But I do want to get to know you outside this bar, if you’ll let me, and I think you’ll let me.” I hope the smile I give her is charming enough to win her over. “I know you feel it,” I continue. She can’t deny we have a connection.
“Most people have some sort of connection. Listen, I need to go. I have to be up early for work tomorrow. It was nice chatting with you.”

“Brandon, what is it that you want from me? And don’t say to get to know you.” “I just want you, Are’. I feel like I know you from somewhere. I just can’t pinpoint it. And your eyes, they’re just so beautiful. The image of them is burned into my head. I can’t get you out of my mind since I saw you in the bar. This type of stuff never happens to me, so I have to act on it.”
“You’re moving really fast. We have plenty of time to get to know each other.” “Now, now, Are’. The things I’ve seen tell me that life is short and we never know when God is going to pluck us from the earth. I’ve seen things that no one should ever see. But, Are’, you bring a calmness to me. Something I haven’t felt in years. Something I don’t want to let pass. Correction, something I won’t let go of. So save us some time and give in, because I always get what I want.”

The message I leave her is brief and asks her to call me whenever she is free. Sh%$, do I sound desperate? I don’t want to come off sounding desperate. I know she wants me by the way her body responds to me when I touch her. Both times I’ve kissed her, she’s leaned into me like she belongs to me. I dream of the day that I can take her to a world that she has never known. And from that moment on, she will belong to me and only me.

“Are’, please talk to me. I’m sorry. It will never happen again. I promise you.”
He’s desperate for me to speak. What can I say? “You can’t promise that, Brandon. You’ve been through a lot. Maybe we need to just take it easy.”
His eyes grow sad and lost. “Maybe you’re right. I don’t want you getting hurt. I have issues that I need to handle.”
“I would say so.”
“Please don’t be angry and please know that wasn’t me. I would never hurt you intentionally,” he says with pain in his voice.
“I know, Brandon, I know. I’m really freaked out right now, and all I want to do is go home.”
“Then home is where I will take you.”

Brandon, without hesitation, forms a fist and punches him in the face. Will goes down like a sack of potatoes. He turns to me.
“Brandon what the hell? Where have you been?”
He says nothing but remains looking at me; his eyes are a mixture of hunger and anger. They’re blazing with passion. “You’re mine. Do you hear me? Mine. Don't ever let another f-ker f-king touch you. Do you understand me, Are’? You’re f-king mine."
I lose all since of reality as he pushes me against the wall and forces his lips on me. They are hot and desperate. I've missed this. I've missed him. “You can’t just traipse in here after a month and get all domineering. You left without a word. Where were you?”
His eyes could see right through me. “I’m sorry, Are’,” he begins “I’m sorry. The look you gave me when I tried to touch you, killed me. I don’t want you to be afraid of me or to give me that look ever again,” he says,

Sarah, not too close to the water,” I scream at my daughter..
The blue two-story house sits back from the water with a small grass area on the side for Betsy to play.
“Mommy, Mommy, look at what I found,” Betsy says, running to me....
