When they met online they were equals...Then she walks into his classroom.

For four months Eva March shared almost every secret with a handsome stranger. It was easy when she didn't have to meet his gaze in real life. The online flirtation was fun. She could be a strong, put-together woman without a sordid past. Most importantly, he'd never know the truth.

Grady Addison takes his job as a professor seriously. He doesn't sleep with co-eds, much less his students. Eva doesn't even fit his leggy, peppy blonde requirements, but he can't walk away now. He's spent too much time fantasizing about her, her smile and the way her eyes darken when she thinks of her past.

And her past is a problem. The secrets she hasn't yet told him could end his career and for Eva, her life could just come crashing down...again.

Let me start by saying that I am a student-teacher taboo junkie. Books in this trope ring my reader bell. So, I'm always looking for the next great read to devour in this arena.

I have to say that I loved the premise of this story, as it was fresh and unique. However, many times the transition between scenes and thoughts were not clear, making it a necessity to re-read paragraphs to fit the story together; it just needed more cohesiveness. In addition, the idea of counting TO one hundred, when actually it was counting backwards from one hundred, constantly ticked in my brain and I couldn't let it go.

However, I did read through to the end, as I had to know what would become of this internet dating couple. The closeness of Grady's friends/family in the story, and his protective yet raw and sexy nature with Eva were definite redeeming qualities of the story.

Melissa Blue had me at #dirtysexygeeks and I bought this book a while back plus I pre-ordered book 2. Then it disappeared in my enormous Mt. TBR until late one night there was talk on Twitter about book 2 and the author mentioned there was an office scene. You must know that I'm a sucker for office romances because for one there is a realistic chance of desk-smexing...my weakness! And when Ms. Blue confirmed rough sex and a desk would be involved I knew I had to start reading book 1 right there and then, so I'll be ready for book 2 when it releases.

Then I re-read the blurb for this first book and WTH had I been thinking not reading this immediately when I'd bought it because... H/H meet online (love this way of meeting in romances) and it was a professor/student romance and though I know there a quite some readers who object to that type of pairing, I love it.

So now for my actual thoughts on the book and author's writing:
I really liked Blue's writing. She had me smiling on the first page and laughing out loud on the second. And as you all know as well, I'm a sucker for humorous writing.
But it's not just the humor that got to me. The author also doesn't shy away from heavy topics as mental illness, panic attacks and something else I won't name as it would be a spoiler for those who haven't read the book yet. And she delivers this in small doses intertwined with the romance and sexy flirtations.

I really liked that the characters were "real", unfiltered and even flawed as that made it easier for me to relate to them than if they'd been filtered pillars of perfection. With all the emotional turmoil surrounding both characters and tugging at my heartstrings, I'd almost forget to mention that this book was hot and sexy. Scenes like with the audiofile or the one in the classroom when they first meet and realize who the other one is, were phenomenally sexy. But the actual sexy scenes were amazing as well. Just the way I like it: hot and emotional.

As for secondary characters there was The Goon Squad, which, next to Grady, consisted of Wade (G's older brother, astrophysicist), Victor (IT guy), Porter (engineer) and Oliver (cartoonist).
I loved the sense of kinship and the bond that flowed through the Goon Squad's interactions. Humorous but also serious when need be. They're a great and intriguing bunch and I can't wait to read all their stories.

I had a sort of love-hate thing with Lauren, Eva's sister. One on hand she annoyed me but on the other I could also see where she was coming from. But in the end she was redeemed and I'm kinda shipping her with someone and I really hope that will happen in the series. (ETA: I had a convo with the author about this and she has other plans for Lauren and I'm okay with that)

Melissa Blue is a new-to-me author. Another one in the year I decided one of my reading goals was not to read too many new authors...yeah...uhm, that's working well for me :) But I have absolutely no regrets because this first encounter as definitely worth breaking my resolution for.

Favorite quotes:
All she had to do was lift her hand to feel the rough brush of his five o'clock shadow. Just rise to the tips of her toes and his mouth would brush hers. Then she wouldn't need to breathe in his scent. He'd be inside her, using his tongue instead of words to soothe her.

“Something's distracting me.”
He whispered in her ear, “I can stop.”
“I can choke you if you do.”
“Might like it,” he murmured.”

“You're slobbering all over my chest.”
Her laugh was watery, but he just kept looking at her as though she was something precious.
“Grady, I love you so much.”
His gaze turned serious though the smile held. “Kind of picked up on that a few snot bubbles ago.”

Me: I don't particularly like student/professor romances.

Also me: well, there's an exception to every rule!

I think the reason I liked this is mainly because the 2 MCs are already in each other's orbit and know each other (kind of) before they actually meet in the classroom. The siblings (for both) were questionable in their behavior but I liked that he was willing to fight and that she finally was too.

Content notes: MMC's brother has bipolar disorder, is a genius, has toxic parents, FMC attempted suicide after having an affair with a professor that went horribly wrong and made her a social outcast; some really heavy themes in this book about boundaries and mental health issues;

I had a lot of issues with this... Most were concerning consent which made everything feel icky. It also has some ableist slurs, misogynistic views, lots of internalised ableism, and left me feeling bad even though some things were sometimes or in some ways not condoned or challenged (the internalised ableism, some slut-shaming, the giant privacy invasion/revenge porn blackmail).

There were three girls, the li, the abusive/manipulating sister and a friends sister who was mentioned maybe twice. I just,,, none of this - it was pretty bad.

examples:
[tw: no consent/SA] "she jerked back, but it was too late to stop. Grady closed his mouth over hers." uhhh no it's not too late? you can stop at any time and your partner should know and notice if you are trying to turn them away with your body? this made even worse by that she had already given these signs, he hadn't asked for permission, she jerked away bc she got reminded of past trauma AND immediately after everything was just fine?? "her fear melted away" for fucks sake don't put things like this in if you won't address them.

more issues with consent: "she tried to tug her arm back but his hold was firm." and "she tried to move back but the hold he had on her hair refused to let up"
that last one is during sex and i just - people can agree to things like this. it can be great and safe and fun. but if you don't show that participants have talked about this they shouldn't be abe to exhibit this behaviour without the book examining so.
see also: "patience" she ordered. hiss lids were low and the promise had changed. it was a warning to move shit along [read: get on with the sex] or hee'd wrest back the control." and "his eyes were unreadable. he was done warning her" also during sex. and because of earlier consent issues i have no inclination to give this the benefit of the doubt.

there are two more instances like mentioned above, one time in which he says she can't wear low cut things because it distracts him and the word "pansy" is used to refer to guys expressing emotions.

100% would not recommend

3.25-3.5 stars. This was a pretty good book. This is Grady and Eva's story. They met on a Firefly forum and have been chatting and flirting for 4 months, both ready to make the step to meeting in person. At 28, Eva is a web designer and is taking some classes to finish her Bachelor's degree. She is shocked to find that Grady is her new professor. The sparks fly between them when they meet in person in class and realize who each other are. Grady is an adjunct professor and he sees nothing wrong with being in a relationship with Eva for the 5 weeks their class meets. He really likes her and sees a future with her. But as much as Eva likes Grady and feels a connection with him, she is unsure. She had a bad relationship in the past Grady can see that she's scared and fragile. He must break down her walls and convince her that love is worth the risk -that if she feels broken, he will be there to hold her up.

I wish this book had been a bit longer. The final conflict wrapped up on the very last page and there was no epilogue. I liked Grady and Eva together. I liked how supportive and accepting Grady was, but still vulnerable when Eva tries to push him away. I just wish we had seen more happy times between them. They were trying to figure out their relationship and unsure if they were going to make it for the entire book. It was heavy and emotional. I wish there had been a lighter side to show how things would be between them in the future. There was potential for lighter content, with Grady's group of good friends and the couple's love of Firefly. But I did like the story and I felt the emotions they were feeling. This was my first book by Ms. Blue. The writing was good and I'm curious about the side characters enough to continue the series.

Geeky, kinky, teacher/student. I liked it. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

The heroine has obstacles in her past she has to overcome and deal with. Both the hero and heroine have family that is in their business. I liked that atmosphere.

They meet in a Firefly chat room, and their first date is on Skype. You'll find out then why this book is titled To One Hundred *wink*

I liked both h/h, but I also never settled in `100% with them. Not sure why.

But a fun sexy read - I'll try book two when it releases soon.

This is my first book by Melissa and I can honestly say that it was a great read. With a series name like #dirtysexygeeks there is some serious expectation and she did not disappoint.
All the characters, including the main and side characters are really strong personalities and believable flaws and that is what really sold the book for me.
Grady is there strength within his group of friends and with him being a professor he is well equipped to handle anything thrown in his direction except when he realises the sassy woman who he has been talking to one line for months is now a student.
Eva has been through a lot in her life and now she feels like she is finally moving on when her problems and insecurities come back to bite her in the butt. She has a lot she will have to over come if she ever truly want tome on and be happy with her future and family.
There is a lot to look forward to in not only this book but also this series that had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. The sexy times were good and there was even a little bit of sweetness and potential friendship going on.
This is my honest and unbiased review.

This was not exactly what I thought it would be. Our H/h meet online and have been talking for 5 months but have never met even though they live in the same town. Once Eva shows up for her first day of class she meets Grady and she flashes back to a nightmare. We spend the rest of the book with her panic attacks and the fact that she is scared to get involved. We get to meet several other characters, Grady's brother and 3 other friends that seem to be there all the time and they all seem to be dysfunctional in one way or another. I unfortunately never really got pulled into the story and never vested in our characters relationship. The hot and steamy was limited as well.

Overall, this white M/F romance was sexy, funny, and angsty. Eva was a sympathetic FMC with mental health issues, and Grady was a sweet, horny, kind MMC.

I really liked the mental health rep in this, and the chemistry was very believable. Eva's relationship with her sister was a good representation of how family members of people with mental health issues can be controlling, boundary-pushing, and condescending.

I enjoyed the general geeky theme, but was less enthused about the references to Joss Whedon properties, given the recent revelations.

The instructor/student relationship was messy, and didn't feel completely resolved to my satisfaction, though the book did a good job of acknowledging every issue I had. The resolution just felt a bit rushed to me.

I listened to this in audiobook form, and I really enjoyed it that way.

The Goon Squad is a group of chosen family, where the members of this chosen family do their best to take care of each other.
I loved Grady and Eva's story so much - it's a tiny bit taboo, very hot, and also deals with anxiety and other mental health issues.
The romance was very well done, as were the friendships.

Teacher/student romances where do I begin. I’m a fan of them but I chose to be selective trying to find the forbidden stories that will capture my interest and feed my cliché addiction. So when Blue offering painted a different yet interesting potential student/teacher romance my interest was piqued when I read the blurb.

Eve is a woman with secrets she keeps to herself usually , however surprisingly she has been sharing with them with a mysterious man online for the last few months . Something that is out of character her considering knowing she probably won’t ever meet this man. It is a safe and easy way and seems all perfect.

However fate always has hand in this stories and Grady isn’t just a mysterious man. He is her new professor, a fact that is gleefully shared by her sister who has put all the information together.

And she kinda wants him…..

Grady where do I start, a play by the rules but hottie. He doesn’t do students… but she wrapped him around her finger despite never met and she keeps him on his toes. However there are other facts at play and Grady wants her and she wants him…

Though finding out they are professor and student has stopped all plans for the time being and where next?

To One Hundred had a lot of promise. Blue had a pair of interesting protagonists who were fighting their feelings and doing dirty things that would put some books to shame involving Then as the pieces started fell into place and it started losing it shine. As I wanted action first rather then what I got as it makes temptation so more alluring. There is only so much temptation someone can take and Eve playing a bit hard to get was getting old though there was other things on the table. I wanted a certain thing to happen ;)

Then there was the other issues. There was too much baggage . Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the characters but some things need to be dropped. I rather seen Eve’s sister go all crazy and determined to protect her sister at any cost then what we got as it seemed half attempted considering things . As it seemed the guys were doing more then what you expect given the situation to help things along.

And what they got up to , I don’t know whether I should applauded or shake them considering Eve sister wasn’t all that bad….

If you are looking for a student/teacher romance with some quirky characters and interesting scenes give this one to go. It definitely lives up to the title I can say and offering a okay read overall with plenty of potential .

To One Hundred is a first for me on two levels. It is my first Melissa Blue book and my first student/teacher book. I’m not the type to jump on every hype-wagon and read books based on trends in the industry. But when I’ve read the blurb of To One Hundred, I couldn’t resist. It has a different feel to it than all the others student/teacher books—right down my alley. And I definitely enjoyed this one!

Eva March is not your typical College girl. For one, she is going back to finish her degree at the age of 28. Also, her first attempt at gaining her Bachelor’s was rather horrible and scarring. It took her a long time to get over what happened to her seven years prior. Eva, however, is not the same weak girl anymore. She is strong, independent, and fierce. Overcoming her past and making peace with her mistakes has made her grow as a person, as well as mature.

Grady Addison is the kind of professor we all wish we had in College. He’d make every subject fascinating, even if it’s the most boring one we can thing of. He is that sexy. Grady loves his job though, and wouldn’t do anything do put it in jeopardy—especially not sleeping with a student. What he doesn’t expect, however, is to find the woman he has been talking to for the last four months on a Firefly forum—the woman he has shared many dreams and secrets with—walk in his classroom on a Monday morning.

Eva and Grady’s chemistry and instant attraction doesn’t make it any easier for them to stay away. Especially Eva, whose past come rushing back, is trying her hardest to stay away. But let me tell you, every time they come together is smoking hot. Grady is one sexy geek in need of control at all times. Sadly, there are many obstacles that make it hard for them to commit—the fact that Eva is his student is only one of them, Grady’s brother’s disdain is another. But despite all the issues—Eva’s past, their siblings, and the whole student/teacher thing—they manage to grow together and become stronger, as individuals as well as a couple.

I have definitely been hooked from page one on this one. I love Eva and Grady’s chemistry. Grady, and his dirty mouth, is definitely a favorite aspect of mine in this story. But it’s not all about the sex; the love story between them is compelling, the main as well as supporting characters are complex and add layers to the story that makes it an intriguing and fascinating read.

Teacher/student is my absolute favorite genre to read, so I was excited when To One Hundred came up on my review list. From the blurb it seemed like it was going to have all of the angst and secrets I look for in a forbidden romance read. However, for some reason I didn't click with the characters and felt unsatisfied when I was done reading their story.

Melissa Blue did a nice job with her characters giving them some baggage along with the forbidden relationship they have to deal with. Eva has been burned in the past and hooking up with her professor is a mistake her sister sees coming from a mile away. Eva's sister was there for the fall out of her last relationship and isn't going to let her make the same mistake twice. Eva feels what her sister doesn't know won't hurt her.

Grady has his own sibling baggage and hopes there is enough room in his life for his brother and a new girlfriend. Sick and tired of dating the same ol same ol, Grady steps out of his comfort zone and starts an online relationship with a woman he's never met. On paper, or the computer, they are perfect for each other. When he sees Eva isn't his usual type, he doesn't care and wants to get to know her offline. Grady feels a connection to this woman and wants to see if it can actually go somewhere. When he walks into his classroom and sees the beauty he just had sexual feelings for, things change.

"I'm not someone you change your career for. You don't really know me. I have scars." ~ Eva

And that she does. Pretty big emotional scars to take a romantic leap with her professor if you ask me, oh and her sister. The book is well written from dual points of view, although the chapters aren't labeled as so. It's sexy, but I just didn't connect with either character. If anything, I liked Grady's brother Wade more. He seems like an interesting guy.

What a cute, fun, sexy read. Loved the main characters and secondary and look forward to reading about their lives, as well.

Think a Friends episode where everyone is in each other's business, that's this book. And Grady was a super sexy geek in his little glasses.

3 1/2 stars!
It's not enough to say this was simply a forbidden professor/student romance. It also delved into the area of mental illness and it's effects on our daily lives. It was easy for Eva to be who she sincerely yearned to be when she was communicating with Grady online. She could be the strong, sexy and confident woman she so wanted to set free. Her ugly past could stay hidden where she wanted it to be, way in the past.
Grady has just as strong feelings for Eva as she does for him and they haven't even met yet. The emotions are real but there's still an element of fantasy to the whole thing until they finally meet in person under less than optimal circumstances. He's her history professor...and not only that but her sister works at the university too and doesn't approve of the relationship they're trying to forge. She has valid reasons due to things that happened in the past and drove Eva into a dark place. The problem is that her sister doesn't recognize how well Eva's doing and that she's a grown woman capable of making her own decisions.
Eva is leery of exposing her past to Grady for several reasons, little does she know that he has his own secrets he's keeping which may just help him be understanding of her own. The looming threat of the school finding out about them only adds to the stress upon their budding romance.
I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't something I just had to keep reading and couldn't put down. I'm definitely interested in checking out some of the other works by this author though. She was courageous in approaching some difficult topics in this book and did a good job of it.

This was an interesting story! I am not a “geek” and I don’t know anything about the “geek”world, so this was sort of an inside look into the “geek world”.

This is the story of Grady who is one of 4 in the “Goon Squad”. He is the younger brother of another member of the goon squad. Grady met Eva online in something called a Firefly website. Firefly seems to be a show that the two of them love and have in common.

Eva is a mature student who has enrolled back into college to continue her education. She finds out from her older sister who works at the college that her one professor is Grady, which after having a 4 month online relationship with him, she never found out about himself.

There is something in Eva’s past that makes this relationship difficult to go any further, but while it is going on… it is HOT and STEAMY! There is a reason for Grady to need to have “control” in the relationship, and boy, let me tell you… he is one sexy geek!

The only issue I had with the story is it was written in second, or even third person. I had troubles keeping track as to who said what and where… only sometimes. It took me a bit to get used to that writing style but once you get into the flow of it, it works.

So you need to find out if the first geek in the squad gets his girl, and can they work through all of the issues that they have working against their relationship.

Sexy, Flirty, Fun & Geeky

Sign me up for the geek squad!

The first thing I loved about this book should have been the characters, but it was Firefly! I am a huge Firefly fan so I loved the fact that these two met on a Firefly chat board!

Eva and Grady have been chatting for 4 months. They have a connection, they flirt, share secrets and Eva even sends Grady a hot video. But the two don’t actually meet until Eva has her first day of class. Eva is in her late 20’s and she is there to get her Bachelors degree and Grady is her professor.
Grady wants Eva even though she is his student and he has a rule about dating students, he doesn’t do it.

Grady is willing to find a way for them to be together, even if it means finding a job as a professor someplace else.

Eva is hesitant but she can’t deny her attraction to Grady. Eva has a secret though and she believes that Grady won’t want anything to with her once he finds out what it is.

Can these two find true love?

This story was fun and sexy! I adored Grady and Eva! Not just for their love of Firefly, but also the way the flowed as a couple. The way Grady was willing to just change everything in his life for the woman he was falling in love was endearing!

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series! Geeks are awesome, I should know I married one!

This is a brand spanking new author for me. This blurb for this book pulled me in and now I have a new author to check out in the neat future... especially when it comes to this series. This was a super fun and slightly angsty book that had tons of steam and feels. This author gave me quite a ride and by the end, I was thoroughly satisfied and checking out the future books.

I liked this book. Blue gives her readers a romance that is passionate, forbidden, sexy, and gives a whole new meaning to the word geek. Student-teacher romances are definitely one of my favorites. They are so sexy, scandalous, and intense. And this book hit all those markers with me but offered a few unique twists to keep me captivated from the first to the very last word.

This is Eva and Grady's story. Making a connection online is easy. Falling for them without ever meeting is simple. Making it happen in reality is a whole new level of complicated. This is especially true when one is the teacher and one is the student. Throw in some road blocks and complications and we have one story that will make you swoon, smile and fall in love.

I recommend this book.

This was an excellent read but not without fault. In my opinion everything wrapped itself up way too nicely. Eva and Grady made excellent leads for this story and I loved that Melissa Blue took their tortured pasts and used it so each could help the other forge thru. But it wasn't them that made the story unfocused and inconclusive to me, it was the secondary characters. Grady is surrounded by a mighty force of men (one in particular) who will stop at nothing to protect each other and Eva is equally surrounded by her sister with the same force. The problem I have is that each of these forces played a role in almost destroying Eva and Grady but it seemed to be swept under the rug...not dealt with. When The story came to the end I was seriously confused. Not because I didn't understand what had happened, but because it should have been better resolved ...
As a fan and a general reader, I am hoping that as the rest of the Goon Squad get their story that some of what should have been dealt with in To One Hundred will be dealt with in theirs, especially Grady's brother ....

What would you do if you found out that the man you've been chatting with online and established an online relationship with while bonding over your favourite sci-fi show, Firefly...is going to be your history professor? And it turns out your sister is interested in him as well? That's the dilemma Eva finds herself in. Grady Addison turns out to be super-gorgeous, super sexy--a dangerous temptation for Eva, especially since something from her past could end up causing way too many problems.

As always, Melissa Blue totally delivers! To One Hundred is a sexy love story that hooks you from page one. And as someone who loves a sexy geek (and happens to be married to one) I could totally believe in Eva and Grady's sizzling, off the chart chemistry.

Highly recommended!

1) These people aren't that geeky. They like Firefly and he plays video games.
2) That Word Doesn't Mean What You Think It Means, x 1000. Example: " 'This is a tire we've already tread.' ". No. One does not tread a tire. One treads a road, or a path. One, perhaps, REtreads a tire. There were too many of these to count and they BOTHER me. Was this edited?
3) Sentence fragments. Ugh.
4) This has occurred in way too many of the books I have read recently, but this sentence needs to go away: "Damn, but [clause]".
5) Please do not overuse the ellipsis, or the em dash. Use your words.

The plot was great, the spice was phenomenal, the chemistry was there between the characters, and the nerd references to Firefly made my heart happy. So why not a higher rating? Because no one tried to see Eva's perspective. Grady never once put himself in Eva's shoes, considering how what he was asking might affect HER.
He kept claiming that his dad would call the dean and put any allegations to rest, but how would that stop the rumors that pushed Eva to try to unalive herself last time. Like she's been there done that, my dude. He's not capable of keeping this from hurting her, and yet he treats her like she's happily choosing not to be with him. She even gave him a countdown. That was a very VERY fair compromise. And it's not like he could claim ignorance. He knew what those scars meant and how they got there. But he had to be an egomaniac.
And the sister, Lauren, is a piece of freaking WORK! How are you going to emotionally and mentally abuse your sibling, holding her past choices and how she decided to handle them (scars) over her head like she's a screw up, and THEN THREATEN TO MAKE THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN?! How is that love? GTFOHWTS! And NO ONE called her on it! Instead, they put all of that misplaced blame on Eva. I would've loved to see Eva actually grow a back bone and put EVERYONE in their place, but nOoOoOoOoOo... 🙄 And that wasn't cool. So I docked 1 star for that.
And I docked .5 stars for the threat of revenge porn at the end. That didn't get nearly as much heat as it should've. And that also wasn't cool.
Would I recommend this book. Probably. Because the spice was immaculate. But the plot wasn't centered around the spice. It was quite organic. I could've used a bit more personal character development, but the plot and nerdy aspect saved it for me.

Wonderful story about Grady and Eva that was written well and had excellent narration. Melissa is fast becoming my new favorite author. She entertains me with characters filled with big personalities and an intriguing storyline. Some of the characters are geeks but they are part of the network called family that Grady surrounds himself with.

I luv a good love story and this was a great one filled with love, trust and betrayal. Great characters who you can imagine. Melissa builds the story until you feel the sincerely of love between our main characters. I like Grady's 'all-in' attitude. No matter what he will give you 100% of who he is. He is choosy, very picky about the women he dates but when he does pick you he is 'all-in.' Eva wants to be 'all-in' but she has too much bad history snapping at her heels including a controlling and manipulative older sister. Grady is everything she wants and he makes her feel oh so good but when it's time to make choices she is not as decisive as Grady is and makes a big mistake that will cost the both of them.

Whatever happens in the beginning when they meet or in the middle when they get stuck, by the end you are left with a HEA that will make you want to cry. If you want a good book to listen to during that long drive, or while on the beach, try this one. You won't regret it.
