Men of Mayhem

Sometimes the line between good and bad simply depends which side you’re on…

Good guys can have unsavory secrets, while so-called criminals can live by a code of ethics rivaling that of any law enforcement agency. Bending the law for money, power, or revenge is one thing, but what if you’re bending it for your family—for love?

Who would choose to become involved with a man who walks on the dark side…

Some men will go to any lengths, legal or not, and make no apologies to protect their way of life and all they hold dear. But you don’t always choose who you love, and sometimes you just have to decide if you’re bold enough to risk it all and go along for the ride.

Thirteen masterful authors come together to present Men of Mayhem.

Compelling stories of loyalty and passion, love and lust, in which the moral and ethical lines are blurred, and call into question the notions of right and wrong.

What could be more exciting than taking a leap of faith…and landing in the arms of the last man you’d expect—but the only one who truly makes you feel alive?

What if your road to happiness leads to…

Review For Cesare by Soraya Naomi.

Loved this short intro into the Syndicate. A friends-to-lovers love story with a twist! It's a little mix of the Chicago Syndicate novels, but with other characters and this features the New York Syndicate. I liked the leads together and would like to see them in CS.

Review "For Cesare" by Soraya Naomi

I'm a huge fan of mafia stories with lots of romance and suspense in it, and this author's books always have that. I might love friends to lovers stories even more so when those two are combined, I'm a goner!!!! I enjoyed it so much that I'm kind of hoping the H/h show up in Chicago Syndicate series.

I was given an ARC of Enforcing Fate by Amy Rachiele, let just say that I absolutely love her books, and this one didn't disappoint. Alex is a brody, intense characyer, and Meryl just breaks your heart. Definitely looking forward to the other books in this anthology.

“I can’t seem to tear my gaze from him and my heart hurts to see him after so long. Yet, he’s still as enticing as ever. I’d resigned myself to the idea of never seeing him again and ma completely blindside.”

5 mafioso stars!!! This box set packs a powerful punch. Each book i this box set is worth the read!

This box set has 13 different books from different authors. All covering a mafia theme! I don’t even think I could pick a favorite if I tried. Each one is unique and different and so sexy!! I was pleasantly surprised with how exciting each book was. I was constantly kept on the edge of my seat with each story and I mean come on it has to do with the mafia…...and this girl loves a good mafia book!!

This anthology is filled with a host of mafia men who are all strong, dangerous alpha males with a talent for melting panties. There are 13 action packed short stories and each one is filled with extreme hotness.

From the best authors in the mafia romance genre come stories about old love, new love, betrayal, danger and family. There is literally something for everyone’s taste. Each story will suck you in with it’s quick pace and tease you right before it ends, leaving you wanting more. Although these stories are all different they all have two things in common: hot as hell alphas turned to mush for the women they desire and off the charts sexy times.

If you’re already a fan of mafia romance I definitely recommend this and if you just want to try it on for size, this anthology is absolutely perfect to give you a little taste!

~*~ Obsessed by Books copy given in exchange for an honest review ~*~

Please note: Each book has a separate review where the novella has been listed on Goodreads. Before is a quick summary of novellas were not available to post individually.

Code of Silence - this was an introduction to the wonderfully dark and twisted mind if the author J.L. Drake. I love a book that leaves feeling "WTF have I just read"..."freakin crazy story!" And this certainly ticked all those boxes. My TBR has just grown :)

Drago - another steaming hot snapshot of some highly sexy and menacing bad ass characters! Sent undercover to find out what part Victor plays can Lauren play her part and go all in without compromising her mission? A well written novella and yup you've guessed my TBR has grown again...

One Shot - when you fall in love with the enemy can you ever be free of the family ties? From opposing families Bri and Nico are attracted to one another but are tired of hiding their love from their families. Secrets and lies hold the key to their relationship...
A fast intriguing read that I certainly want more of.

The other books in this collection are an awesome collaboration of alpha mafia men that I would love to cause some mayhem with! Each story is a short and fast paced read that leaves you wanting to dive straight into the series they are part of. My TBR has grown exponentially! Men of Mayhem is one of the best collections of short stories this year.

A five star blood and guts read.

I love anthologies like this. Thirteen awesome authors have written some fantastic stories for this anthology.

I've read some books by some of these authors already.
Some authors I've not heard of and am super excited to now some new authors to stalk lol

All these stories were flawless with great storylines. Some characters drove me mad & others I loved.

Although I received a copy of this to review I've already pre-ordered my own copy. Anthologies like this is a definite 1-click for me.

This is an assortment of short stories by amazing authors and a the introduction to a couple of new ones. The stories is full of betrayal, action, and suspense all for such a low price!!! If you truly like panties-dropping real mafia alpha-males that have your heart racing and mouth watering, just pick this one up, you won't regret it!!!!
Enforcing Fate. This is an awesome story full of secrecy, action and drama which starts at the beginning of the story until the cliffhanger. This is the story of Alex and Meryl awkward relationship or one night stand. The storyline was great and flowed well with strong characters until the abrupt cliffhanger and many unanswered questions remains. I love Alex with his open-hearted felt love and devotion once he attached himself to his lover. One thing that really drew me to this character, aside from his perfectly written sexiness, was Alex's instant attraction to Meryl but she was damaged and afraid of getting involved with anyone else after the death of her husband Jim... I will be looking for the full edition of this story....
For Cesare.     I have followed this author for many years and I have only one complaint about this story;  it's too damn short! I loved it, I loved everything about it... This is the story of Cesare and Kinsey undying love for each other that grew from childhood. These two are great together with sparks bursting and lighting up the pages. There relationship went through many ups and down but they persevered and reunited their love... I would love to read about Michael and Rachel's story!!!!!
Gian.     This is a short preview of another amazing story by this author and I will be looking forward to reading the full version of this book...
Code of Silence.   This is the first time reading a novel by this author but not the last and I'm looking to read more. I was in a state of suspense and excitement of what would happen next and when the ending came I thought it was well played out and very enjoyable. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Drago    This is a short preview of another amazing story by this author and It was full of betrayal, drama, and excitement. The ending, which I won't spoil, was one of the hottest endings I've read in a while. I hope the author publish the full version of this book...
One Shot   This is the first time reading a novel by this author, however; it is obvious that the writer is very talent and I will be looking forward to reading more of her mafia books. This was a unique and exciting love story of Brianna and Nico, with two rival mafia family fighting to gain turf and their struggle to stay together under family radar. Overall, a great story with a HEA...
Madison's Mobster  This is the first time reading a novel by this author but not the last and I'm looking to read more. The twists and turns of the story make it an exciting read. I have only one complaint about this story; that I want to read more about Madison and Roman. I hope the author publish the full version of this book...
Calabrese.    This was a short simple, sweet love story and the author did an exceptional job with this novelette. I connected very easily with the main character Allegra as well as Fabrizio. The story built really nicely and had a great flow. There relationship begin as an arranged marriage between two mafia family. It ended in a cliffhanger and another one that I hope the author publish the full version.
Fatal Attraction.   Again, this is the first time reading a novel by this author but not the last and I'm looking to read more because the author did an awesome job. This story started out as a betrayal from two rival mafia family kids trying to get intel on each other but falls in love. A great story but too short!!!!
How We Came To Be    Another new author that I haven't read before, however; it is obvious that the writer is very talent and I will be looking forward to reading more of her mafia books. The story of betrayal, suspense, secrets and violence within the mafia family which leads to a one-night stand between Nicolas and Christanna. With Nicolas position within the family, he also having to remove the traitor in his family and watch his back for unknown deception from a secret admirer. An awesome story with a great storyline, it just simple too short...

My Rating 5 Stars
There are so many wonderful stories inside this Anthology that I couldn’t only pick one to review. So this review is based on the entire book.
This book has 13 different books from different Authors telling us hot and Juicy Mafia stories, and what great stories they were. Short novella’s that are fast paced and hot enough to get your motor running worth taking a read even if you only have time for one story at a time. Grab this Anthology and prepare to be on the wrong side of the track for some enticing great reads!

For Cesare by Soraya Naomi, part of the Men of Mayhem (A Mafia Anthology).

This review is for Soraya Naomi's book in the anthology, For Cesare. This was a great short story and can be read independent of one of my favorite mafia series, the Chicago Syndicate.

In this, we get a cross between a friends to lovers romance and a second chance romance. The characters are intriguing and even for a short, I had a bit of a surprise at one point. A great story, fast-paced, and one that left me wanting more. I liked the characters, Cesare and Kinsey, and hope that they'll make an appearance in future Syndicate books.

ARC provided by Soraya Naomi who wrote For Cesare.

It gives you the perfect perspective of her style. She writes dark, mafia romance, where love and family are powerful. Men and women are capable of anything to protect or revenge their loved ones. It's a little mixture of her novels; For Fallon, For Luca and For Adriano (For Cam will release December 8th).

I've read all 3 Chicago Syndicate books so far and I love her writing although, I have to be honest, some parts are sometimes hard to read for me.

I'm looking forward to reading the other novels of Men Of Mayhem.

Cliffhanger I hope there is more. Romeo (Roman) will help find his sister’s bff, but in the process he will find the woman he wants for his. Madison is not your typical woman, she is in her 30s but when she finds out about what Roman does she is scared. He wants her, she wants him but will tell him NO for a relationship.
Enforcing Fate by Amy Rachiele
Really can’t wait to read more with Alex and Meryl’s story, this is a great intro to Amy’s new Chicago mob series. This is a cliffhanger BUT this is still a great story. I am not really a fan of older woman with younger men but for Meryl this is a second chance at love after losing her husband to a heart attack. For Alex he know she is the one he will marry no matter what comes his way she will be his. Until a big surprise scares a 32 year old Meryl into running away from a hot 25 year old Alex, she hopes he can find a woman his age so he can he happy.

Fatal Attraction by Sara Schoen
Love that was formed on using to get information. Faith is the daughter of the Morettis family Don and Devon is the underboss of the Rizzo family. Each one used the other for info to steal or kill the other family to take them down what they thought was the excellent plan backfired into a fall out in love with one another. Devon will take down his whole family to save Faith even to help her father by whipping out all his people. If that’s not love then what is in the mafia.

I’m still in the process of reading this anthology but thought I’d leave a review of the stories I’ve already read.

Infringe - JL Beck

This is a bonus novella from the Kingpin Love Affair series. I haven’t read the other books, although they’ve been sitting on my Kindle, but I think it’s high time that I did! This novella sees Alzerro and Bree in married bliss with a child and, by the sounds of it, Alzerro is straight these days working for the FBI. However, although happy, Bree is worried that they have fallen into boring domesticity and thinks their relationship is missing the spark of the early days, and pushes Zerro’s buttons to bring out the monster of old. It was a hot read and I’m guessing the earlier books will be rather dark, but I’m looking forward to diving into them, soon.

Gian –Lisa Cardiff

Love this author! This is the prequel to a story about Gian and Evangeline. Evangeline has just left her cheating fiancé. She’s broke, her acting/dancing career is on hold while she’s recovering from an ankle injury, and homeless. Her best friend, Carmela, asks her twin brother, who is the youngest capo in the Trassato crime family, to interview Evie for a job as his assistant. The two meet, without realising who the other is, in a nightclub and have a hot few minutes together. Later, when Evie goes back to Gian’s office to recover her handbag, she’s sees something that shatters her world and, in a dramatic turn of events, her life is suddenly turned upside down. I can’t wait to read their main story when it comes out next year!

Enforcing Fate – Amy Rachiele

This is also a prequel to a longer novel coming out next year and it was off to a steamy start! Meryl is a widow of two months and escaped to Chicago after her husband’s death. Alex sees her one night while he’s tending bar in a casino. A casino that is owned by the family that he works for – as an enforcer. Alex wants her – he’s already decided that she’s going to be his wife, in spite of the 9-year difference in their ages. After an amazing night together, Meryl overhears a conversation she shouldn’t, plus she receives personal news that has her reeling, and running away from Alex. Really enjoyed this story and the writing style of this new-to-me author, and I can’t wait for the full story next year!

The rest of the authors in this anthology are also new to me, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the stories.

**I received an ARC of this anthology from one of the participating authors in exchange for an honest review.**

This book is a collection of short stories by various authors. There are oh so many books on the market that focus on the so called good guy getting the girl, but few highlight the relationships of the so called bad guys. These short stories take the reader into the darker side of the world and give us a look at how loyal, loving, and honor bound the alpha males of the darker side are. Although I was only asked to read and review Enforcing Fate by Amy Rachiele, I enjoyed each and every short story and have found some new authors and stories to follow.

Enforcing Fate by Amy Rachiele
Amy Rachiele is the first author that truly introduced me to how much I could identify with and love the men of the mafia. Most authors give the reader a traditional look at the mafia as being horrible and violent with few if any redeeming qualities. However, Amy Rachiele also shows the reader that these strong alpha men act on behalf of loyalty, family, and love just as much as any other man. I have read many of her stories and Enforcing Fate is just as amazing as all the rest. Her characters are well-developed as always and the story moves quickly with just enough twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes. I am not so fond of the ending of this particular story since so much is left up in the air, but I also knew it was likely to happen since it was a short story, not a full length novel. I absolutely can't wait to get more of Alex and Meryl's story and to see where the two end up in the long run. The storyline was excellent and the wording felt natural and allowed me to read with flow and fall into the story and characters without interruption. Please don't keep me waiting for more for too long Amy Rachiele and all of you authors who left us with more to come in the story!

I am reviewing Infringe by J.L. Beck. I absolutely love Alzerro and Bree! They are one of my favorite book couples. This short story shows Alzerro and Bree with their daughter Gia. Bree is having a hard time and feeling complacent in her life. Bree doesn't want normal. She wants the life without out all the bloodshed she used to have with Alzerro. She misses his darkness. She has seen him kill and even killed for him. She wants to feel like they are the same people they used to be and doesn't want to lose them. She tries to tell Alzerro her concerns and he feels like she isn't happy with who he became. He wants a normal life and to not become the person he once was. Finally he sees what Bree is trying to tell him and gives in. Then Bree gives him some awesome news. Alzerro is one of my favorite male characters. He exudes so much power and darkness that makes me go weak in the knees. I need more Alzerro in my life!

I thoroughly enjoyed several of the stories in this anthology, others not so much, so overall I give this book a 4 star rating. My favorite stories are the first two...Infringed and Gian.

Infringed by JL Beck:
Bree is afraid her life with Zerro has become mundane, ordinary..so she sets out to unleash the King again! But does she realize what she is asking for??

O.MG.! There is just something about Zerro. JL Beck set my Kindle screen on fire with this novella!!

Gian by Lisa Cardiff:
Evie is a beautiful up and coming Broadway actress and dancer, but her world starts to crumble when she is injured and cannot dance. As the story unfolds, she is desperate for a job and a place to stay, so she turns to her good friend, Carmela. Then her path crosses with Gian, who happens to be Carmela's brother AND a member of the local crime family.

Theirs is a seriously hot story...I cannot wait to read the conclusion to this story!

This review is for Infringe by author JL Beck.
Infringe, by author JL Beck, is a short novella of A Kingpin Love Affair. It is about the life of Bree and Alzerro, and their lives as husband and wife and as parents. Alzerro is no longer the hot headed, crazed mobster that Bree fell in love with, but a law abiding citizen working for the FBI. The heat and passion that Alzerro brought once upon a time with his reckless and dangerous ways has diminished, making Bree wonder where that man she fell in love with went. We witness Bree and Alzerro struggle with their desires, needs and fears, to rekindle that 'fire' they once shared.
I adore Bree and Alzerro and have been a fan of them from their very first encounter. I was thrilled that JL Beck wrote about what happens to such a passionate couple once the dust has settled and their once unpredictable lives become ordinary. Great job once again JL Beck and thank you for giving us more of Bree and Alzerro.

I love to read mafia romance stories. When I saw there was a Mafia Anthology, I knew I had to check it out. How can you go wrong with 13 stories by different authors? You're bound to find some you like. I sometimes get overwhelmed by Anthologies because they are big books. So for this one I jumped around and started reading the stories by author that I had read before.

I started with Enforcing Fate by Amy Rachiele. I loved it. It's told in the dual POVs of Meryl and Alex. I got hooked into the story right from the beginning. It's a short quick read which I was glad about because I didn't want to put it down until I was finished.

Next I read Infringe by J.L. Beck. This one is a bonus novella that goes along with J.L. Beck's A Kingpin Love Affair series. In this one we get to see what Bree and Zerro have been up too.

The next two I'm going to read are Calabrese by Elle Raven and Gian by Lisa Gardiff.

Men of Mayhem is an anthology of Mafia novellas. There are thirteen stories in this anthology. I love mafia alpha males and this anthology doesn't disappoint. These are great stories that captivated me. They are filled with action, love and angst.

I was given a copy of this anthology by JL Beck in exchange for an honest review of Infringed. Infringed is a bonus novella to the Kinpin Love Affair series. In it we get to see Bree and Zerro in real life. This novella is very much like real life and what happens when you have children and work to have to deal with. This novella was about Bree and Zerro finding that spark to keep the chemistry and romance alive. I loved seeing the real aspects to their relationship.

I would recommend this anthology to anyone who likes mafia stories and alpha males.

I love anthologies as it's a fab way of meeting new authors and getting a taste of their work. I've read two great stories from this anthology so far and can't wait to read more...

Fatal Attraction by Sara Schoen:
A quick story that's a love story with a real twist. Our leads are initially brought together to try and infiltrate the other's family and find the secrets. This was a nice quick enjoyable read.

How We Came to be by Ashlee Taylor:
Ashlee was a new author to me but not now....I really enjoyed this story which was a prequel story to a full book. This was a real steamy read but already it's clear there's a real mysterious edge and I can't wait to read more from this couple.
