This book was sappy, sticky, cheesy, almost-too-perfect…and I kinda ADORED IT.

As a single person “of a certain age” (ha!), this book is the fairy tale. Feeling “ordinary” – but suddenly pursued by a HOT model-looking man, who not only is beautiful, but gentle, supportive, totally into you, AND the “settling down” kind. Duh…sign me up! And maybe it’s this personal connection to the story that had me smiling ear-to-ear as I read each page, but, in the end, my heart felt full.

I love that Cardeno C writes characters who’ve lived life…who are older, successful, yet still lost when it comes to love. I relate to these characters. Spencer Derdinger is a 38 year-old math professor, successful professionally, but unlucky in love, suffering from erectile dysfunction, insecure, lonely, and just going through the motions of life. Yes, he’s slightly pathetic. But, I found him lovely and sympathetic…and adorable.

Emilio, a 22 year-old construction worker is a larger-than-life character. He is perfect in every way and though this would typically make my eyes roll, I think he needed to be THIS amazing to build up someone like Spencer. Emilio is the prince, the dream man, and this WORKED for me.

I loved them together. SWEET, KIND, TENDER, BEAUTIFUL, HOT…I loved their conversations, their interactions, and their sexual connections.

All the side stories: ridiculous ex-boyfriend, caricature family members and best friends, etc. did, actually, annoy me a bit. And truthfully, the main story line itself was truly too much. But, as I mentioned…it so matched/suited the fairy tale in my head of that perfect romance, it worked for me. Make Spencer & Emilio break out into song and this could easily be a Disney movie.

Cardeno C is a self-professed romantic so you know what you’re going to get when you read these books…ROMANCE…in the sappiest way possible. But, you know, for me, I need this every now and again. And I’ve never once, even in the books I didn’t like as much, walked away feeling down after reading a Cardeno C book! “Strong Enough” made me feel like I was on a fluffy cloud…and I’m still smiling…

I ADORE this story and cannot help but fangirl and squee all over this!

Spencer Derdinger, a thirty-eight year old applied mathematics professor has been scoping out a hot, young construction worker working outside his office window for the last two weeks. He's the ultimate fantasy guy and Spencer has no trouble fantasizing. This is the first man who's really caught his attention since his not-so-amicable breakup with his douche-bag extraordinaire ex-boyfriend. Spencer watches the younger man, but doesn't think he, a quiet, smaller, older man, would ever stand a chance with this god-like creature. Little does he know that twenty-two year old Emilio Sanchez has been fantasizing right back at him.

Emilio first saw Spencer two weeks before when he answered his older brother's call to look at the electrical panel in the building addition their family's construction company was working on. When he saw the smaller man with his gorgeous golden flecked brown eyes he knew he had to get to know the shy, charming stranger. So he found reasons to stick around the job site just hoping he'd get a chance to meet him.

When fate allows the two to finally properly meet, Emilio doesn't waste any time getting Spencer to invite him home. Spencer is shocked and awed by how his body is responding to Emilio and Emilio just wants more of this sweet, shy man. For Emilio it was love at first sight and he is determined to make sure Spencer becomes his. Once they get to Spencer's historic 1934 home, Emilio comes up with a plan. After a scorching hot interlude together Emilio knows two things: One he was right and Spencer is the man for him, and two - someone once hurt his sweet man badly, and he just wants to erase all the bad memories from this perfect-for-him guy.
“Fuck,” Emilio groaned. “You look at me like that and I want to take you back to bed.” He moved one hand up Spencer’s arm, causing Spencer to tremble and lean closer to him. “Ever since I saw you at the university that first time, all buttoned up and shy, I couldn’t stop wondering what you’d be like when I got you alone.” He squeezed Spencer’s shoulder and then dragged that big hand up Spencer’s neck to his cheek. Reflexively, Spencer turned into Emilio’s palm and nuzzled it. “You’re even better than I imagined. So sensual and sweet, on top of being crazy smart.” He shook his head in apparent disbelief. “How did I get this lucky?”
Spencer had been asking himself the very same question.
Emilio bent down and licked his earlobe. “Tell me you don’t have plans this weekend,” he said, his voice low. “Tell me we can spend the next two days trying to figure out how many times we can get off before we pass out.”
“Jesus,” Spencer gasped.
“Say I can stay, cariño.”

making love

Eventually, Emilio lays out his plan for Spencer: in exchange for room and board, and in order to give their burgeoning relationship a chance, Emilio will move in and work on the house.
Emilio took in a deep breath and tightened his grip on Spencer before putting the next part of his pitch on the table. “And instead of paying cash, we can work a trade. You let me move in here, feed me more of those great meals, and I’ll cover the labor.”

It takes some convincing. Not only that Emilio is serious about working on the house, but that he's ultimately far more serious about being with Spencer. Slowly but surely, Emilio breaks down all Spencer's walls and they learn how to be a couple together.

This is insta-love brilliantly done...a kind of fairy-tale you hope desperately comes true. Cardeno is the Goldilocks of romance - always managing to strike the perfect pitch between "too little" and "too much" and always making it "just right".

you're perfect for me

Bottom Line: This is super sweet, charming, gloriously hot and sexy and fabulously entertaining.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

* Big huge long drawn out satisfied sigh *

I sort of wanted to leave my review at that because that's how I felt when I ended this lovely romantic, sexy book. I adored it. To be honest I've not read many Cardeno C books ( to be honest some of the past covers have put me off.. Shallow I know! ) but if they're all like this one then I'll definitely be dipping my toe in a few more. This is the second in The Family series so I've ended up reading back to front but I get the impression that it doesn't really matter so I've got book one Something in the Way He Needs waiting now and am very much looking forward to reading it to see if its as delightful as this little gem.

The thing is, this story has a few things that normally have me rolling my eyes a bit. Older man/ younger lover, insta love, annoying ex boyfriend ... But I don't think my eyes rolled once! It is a great example though of opposites attract and that is a favourite trope of mine.

First of all hunky construction worker Emelio is 22 and he's a walking wet dream, sex on legs, cocky and he knows what he wants, and he wants 38 year old Spencer. Shy maths professor with extremely low self esteem who's been chucked by his callous ex because he says he's boring and no good in bed, but as the story goes on we find out that there are deep seated reasons for Spencer's skittishness. Then Emelio sweeps into his life and turns our sweet shy Spencer's world upside down but in a very good way! I loved how he just walked up to Spencer and introduced himself and within minutes was following Spencer home... Sounds too much? Just read it and you'll realise why it isn't!

I think everyone should have an Emelio in their lives, he's almost to good to be true but the way Cardeno has written him he's just gorgeous ...in both body and demeanour and I absolutely adored him.

There's very little conflict really except for the ex boyfriend who of course tries to worm his way back in and the sad background story of Spencer, which is handled sensitively and doesn't swamp the story. The rest is just Emelio working his magic on Spencer and the lovely romance that blossoms between them and yep, its sort of sweet but its not over sugary. The love scenes are sensual, hot and sizzling, the chemistry is spot on and the sexual tension electric.

I think this has just entered the realms of becoming my favourite go to comfort read. Keeper never to leave my Kindle.

Wonderful wonderful hurt/comfort.

------------------------------

So much hurt/comfort! I loved it.

We have the 38 year old shy professor, Spencer.
And we have the hot 22 year old construction worker Emilio.

38 year old Spencer works as a professor at a university. He notices the hot construction men working next to the university immediately. Especially one, Emilio. But Spencer is way too shy to even think about approaching the hot younger man.

Emilio is attracted to the shy professor immediately. So when he sees a chance, he goes for it. He talks to Spencer and makes it clear he wants to do a lot more than talk. Emilio doesn’t take no for an answer so it is not long before they go to Spencer’s place. Fortunately Emilio knows what he wants, so when he takes the reins, Spencer gladly hands them over.

When it is clear Spencer’s house could use some work, Emilio volunteers to work on the house, with one condition, he wants to move in while doing the renovation. And how could Spencer decline such an offer?

This book is incredibly sweet. It's very high on the insta-love (they move in together on the same day they meet), but who cares! :D These men were so cute together that I melted into a puddle of goo.

Spencer was so sweet with the way he had absolutely no idea what to do with Emilio. Spencer was hurt in the past (physically and emotionally) and sex was a bit of a problem for him.
I loved how Emilio wanted to take care of Spencer and how he was always so patient with him.

This book was very sweet, and had a some very funny moments. I especially liked Emilio’s family and how even his brothers wanted to protect Spencer.

“Who is that?” Henry said from behind Emilio.
He looked back over his shoulder. “Spencer’s ex. Guy’s a total asshole.”
“Should we take care of him?” Henry asked immediately.
(…)
“Who’s the guy talking to Spencer?” Martin asked as he picked up his cue.
“Spencer’s ex-boyfriend,” Emilio said, glancing over at the two men again. “Huh,” Martin responded. “Should we go take care of him?” he asked.
“We’re not in the fuckin’ Mafia,” Henry said, as if he hadn’t just suggested the same thing.

Great read, low on the angst, with amazing sex scenes. This book is bound to make you feel better after a bad day.

Reread January 2018

Just what I needed right now. A sugary sweet, cotton candy, fluff read.

Originally read June 2016

This was sweet...sugary sweet but I liked it. Emilio was the perfect hero. He was so patient and kind with Spencer. He did everything right. He was always thinking about Spencer and how to make things better and easier for him. He was definitely swoon worthy. Emilio was written to be 22 years old but he seemed much older than that.

Spencer was okay. He was the 38 year old, nerdy math professor who had intimacy issues due to a trauma during college. He was almost a little too broken for me to begin with but with Emilio's tender loving care, he progressed nicely and grew as a person. Again, though he was older than Emilio, his character seemed younger in a lot of ways.

There was no real angst though Spencer's ex makes a few appearances. I love how there were plenty of opportunities for things to be misconstrued and for misunderstandings, but they were worked out and no one was hurt and no jumping to conclusions. So, overall, a nice and easy read.

Re-read Sept. 2015: First class comfort read!

When I started this book, I was horrified at how quickly these two MCs hooked up and started planning their HEA. The age difference was 16 years and I felt it was so totally unrealistic for them to end up together, much less fall into insta-love after less then 24 hours. But after reading the first 35% of the book, I was pretty much sold on these two, MC Spencer, a highly intelligent math professor with low self esteem and no family support and MC Emilio, a blue collar electrocution with a large, accepting family who oozed sexual attraction. These two where head-over-heels for each other and I was able to suspend disbelief and let the romance play out the way the author intended. I loved these two men and how they treated and related to one another. This was a lovely, hot, sexy, inspiring romance with little to no angst. I can highly recommend Strong Enough to all lovers of men with men in a loving, sexual relationship. This is a hearts and flowers story, but without the silly, sappy hearts and flowers.

***3 Stars***

This was a quick, cute, saccharine sweet but oh so steamy read.

Ok, first and foremost...one of the MC's is named Emilio....and all that went through my head EVERY SINGLE TIME I read his name was....

I'm sorry. Not the author's fault. But there you have it.

The insta-love moved at lightening speed, but for some reason by the time I hit 35-40%, I didn't mind anymore. Well played, CC...well played.

The dynamic between Spencer and Emilio was sweet, heartwarming and pretty damn hot. I loved Emilio's protective side. He really took care of Spencer and was sensitive to all his needs. However, even though Spencer is supposed to be 15+ years older than Emilio...he came off young and child-like. I just couldn't piece together his age, profession and life with the way he spoke and behaved at times.

Also, I'm not sure why the author chose to have Emilio speak with such poor grammar?? He's a 22 year-old successful electrician and construction worker. Why he spoke so poorly baffled my mind...and downright bothered me. Was it used to convey his lack of schooling? To set him apart from the fact that Spencer was a professor? I don't know what it was, but like I said, it really bothered me.

What didn't bother me was Emilio's family! I loved them! Especially his fantastic relationship with his brothers. They were completely accepting of Emilio's life and embraced Spencer with open arms. And without a doubt, Henry was a scene stealer. His and Emilio's conversation about blowjobs had me laughing my ass off!

The epilogue tied a funny, hot and feel good bow on this sweet romance.

Well, gimme heaps of sugar and pour some syrup on it. This book is soooooooooo fucking sweet, it will make your teeth hurt.

Emilio is 22, hot, buff, brilliant with his hands (ahem), and wants to settle down pronto with a geeky, neurotic math professor: Spencer, who at 38 has been beaten down by shitty past boyfriends, one in particular.

Do people like Emilio exist? There are plenty of nice guys, but Emilio??? He was absurdly perfect, so perfect that he seemed like a caricature. He was too patient. Too kind. Just too, too, too. Within HOURS of meeting Spencer, he's planning a remodel of Spencer's house (for free!), moving in, and soothing Spencer's demons.

There was no real conflict here, no angst. Emilio's family was just as fabulous as Emilio; Spencer's "bad" family was brushed aside. So convenient, all of it.

I love me some happy-ever-afters, but this one didn't feel earned. A decent, quick, cute read, but not meaty enough for my tastes.

Belens Audio Book Review

It's official: I adore Ezekiel Robison!

His narration is consistently terrific, he offers new character voices for each new story, not just reusing the same old, same old. He also keeps track of the character voices from previous stories and when those characters show up, he uses the right voices. It's such a treat to listen to Robison!

Robison brings such depth to the characters, he highlights Spencer's vulnerability and Emilio's protective instincts, he makes their insta-love believable, and he absolutely sets the audio on fire with the hot sex scenes.

That shower scene alone is worth the price of the audio book. For reals.

Absolutely ridiculous! Seriously this plot is awful, hot young (22) construction worker besotted by shy older (38) professor. Goes home with him, fixes his house and fixes *wink* him.

I was rolling my eyes and snickering (in a very mature fashion) at this book as I read it. Completely unrealistic story and insanely perfect characters.

But my sappy, sappy heart was happy. Big hot construction worker Emilio is a such a sweetie; caring, sweet, good with his hands ;) protective. A dream. His brothers aren't half bad either. Where were they when we were having the house done huh? I wouldn't even have minded if they kept their shirts on!

Prof. Spencer gets a visit from his nasty ex Paul who is a total panto villain. His appearance didn't really make sense and you could see where it was going, but I still loved the showdown - who wouldn't love to facedown an arrogant ex with a hot replacement at their side?

It's silly, it's Cardeno-Crack and it's likely cheaper and better for you than other forms of crack! It put me in a good mood, a sugar-spun blanket melting under the hotness of chiseled chests.

There's streams of cum, jets of cum and the characters say 'Ungh!' in fact they say 'Ungh!' A LOT and for some peculiar reason this makes me incredibly happy.

Ungh!

----
Disclaimer: Using 'Ungh' as an everyday expression tends to get you strange looks. Loved ones might even send disparaging looks towards your darling kindle, and suggest outdoor pursuits of a non-smexy nature!

Oh and the covers fugly! He's got a headlock on a corpse *shudder*

This book was cheesy, unrealistic, and just a bit silly.

I loved it.

description

Spencer Derdinger can't help but spy on the hot men at the construction site across from his office. One worker in particular fits his fantasy of the perfect man. But Spencer's in his late thirties and doesn't thinks he's a particularly good catch, so he limits himself to just looking. Emilio Sanchez notices the hot older professor, and he's determined to seduce him.

When Emilio realizes that Spencer has had bad luck with relationships and has a very low opinion of himself, Emilio becomes determined to show Spencer that he deserves the best.

Aaron Pickering did a great job as narrator. This was my first time listening to something by him, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The character voices, pacing, and mood were all done brilliantly. I have to give him kudos for being able to bring heat to each sex scene (and there were a lot of them). I had to turn down the volume during those scenes, just to be sure that people around me in the train couldn't hear.

This is insta-love without any apologies. Emilio and Spencer fall hard and fast. They move in together after one weekend. Normally, I'd be annoyed to no end. But in this case, it just works. Why wouldn't Spencer fall for Emilio so quickly? Why wouldn't Emilio want to keep Spencer for good? You'll read no complaints from my inner sap.

That doesn't mean that there isn't any relationship development. Emilio gives Spencer love and understanding, and Spencer learns how to give without being trampled over. The two work at it until they get it right.

But mostly they have hot dirty sex. Seriously, these two spent as much time in bed as they did out of it. Again, you'll read no complaints for me. Emilio and Spencer were hot as hell together. And there was even a bit of a kinky surprise at the end. Fancy professors revealing their inner pervs totally works for me.

The side story with Peter was okay. I'm not a fan of bringing in exes to add drama. But the reaction by Emilio's brothers made it worth the slight annoyance.

If you're looking for something fluffy, easy, and sexy, this is the book for you.

Strong Enough by Cardeno C is a fluff lover's delight. We have a kind-hearted thirty-eight-old Spencer who is afraid to trust after being hurt by those who are supposed to love him. Then there's twenty-two-year-old Emilio, who has a heart as big as the universe and isn't afraid to go after what he wants, and who he wants is Spencer.

What I loved:

*Emilio. He was so damn lovable. He was funny, sweet, and so romantic. He was wise beyond his years and loved how patient he was with Spencer- always putting his needs before his own.
*Spencer. There was this quiet strength to his character that spoke to me. Despite all the hurt and insecurities he carried he was brave enough to not pass up a chance at love.
*The secondary cast of characters. They were funny and caring.
*Believe it or not- the insta-love. Insta-love is tricky and it can easily ruin a story, fortunately, it was perfect here.
*The steam of course.
*It's told from an alternating POV.

Why not 5 Stars?

*I did find the dialogue a bit repetitive at times.
*The way the Psycho Peter situation was written. I get what the author was trying to do,

All in all, though, I quite enjoyed this. If it wasn't because I have to adult every day I could've easily gotten lost in this book and read it in one sitting. If you're in the mood for an uber sweet and sexy read give this one a try! 4.5 Stars ♥

Original Review

This was just a lovely book. It was a sweet fairytale story about two sweet men who fall in love and stay in love. I know it sounds boring and I guess if you're looking for a novel full of angst and drama then this would be boring. However if you're after a sweet love story about love at first sight and great characters who grow together, this is perfect for you.

I am really, really glad I gave this book a go. The first one was not for me. It just wasn't. But this book was almost everything I love in a book. It had the sweetness and sappiness that went with two incredible MC's. I couldn't fault this book really. Cardeno C. has written an amazing book, one that I really wish I could have this couple again because they have become favourites of mine.

Emilio and Spencer were total opposites. With a 16 year age difference you would think they were doomed. But they were perfect for each other and it was wonderful to see their sweet, but rather unusual, beginning. Emilio is an outgoing guy, while Spencer would rather stay at home. But secretly, Emilio is looking for someone like Spencer, and when he sees him he goes and gets him. Literally! Their beginning, as I have said, is... strange, to say the least, but it was really fitting for his character.

Spencer had a sad past. He had never really had anyone before, not really, and Emilio was so considerate when it came to sex. He didn't rush Spencer, and he made him feel loved. I think everyone deserves to feel loved, especially when you've had such a shitty time with men and family in the past. Another opposite. Spencer's family were... nonexistent. Emilio had a really close family, and they all accepted him for who he was.

The book is really easy, sexy, and has a wonderful couple. Will it be for everyone? Probably not. There wasn't any real drama, apart from Spencer's asshole ex. I would have liked to have seen more of Emilio's family, but there was enough of them to keep me really happy. I loved how close the brothers were. It's one of those things that really make me smile in a book, there's just something lovable about a book when brothers are close.

I'd love to say I'll read the sequel, but it's a menage, and I have an idea of who could be in the sequel. So I'll be skipping that one. But I really enjoyed this, and now I have a favourite couple, which is good.

One of the best Cardeno C books I've read/listened to. Sure, Emilio seems a bit too perfect but just like Spencer I quickly fell in love with him anyway. He was quick to anger and hella jealous...and yet sweetly sexy. His young, brash, pushy behavior started off a bit annoying but the way he read Spencer's reactions and continued to pursue him (if less strongly but more determinedly & for more than just sex) was so romantic. He was kind of the guy you wish was knocking on your door, wanting to go out with you. Even for those of us who sort of don't believe in this kind of romance much anymore.

And Spencer. Gah, he was just so clueless. I adored how he was honestly confused at how much Emilio wanted him, how Emilio desired him. Sure, that lack of confidence was hammered home with entirely too many appearances by his Ex (and that horrific experience in college) but soon he became more assertive. But the best part was how his ED was addressed. It's not something you expect to see happening to a 38 year-old MC (and definitely not something that comes up often in a romance novel!) ("comes up" *snerk* pun not intended) but it was a major part of the romance plot. Spencer is ashamed of it and it gives him so much anxiety with how he thinks Emilio will react (as he expects to be dumped) and yet it doesn't define their sexual encounters. And it's not healed by Emilio's Magic Peen or whatever. They talk about it, they work around it. *sigh* I don't know if this is in any way based on RL but it felt real, the kind of real that is totally based in fantasy, in how you hope a partner would react...but still.

So, yeah, sometimes it was a bit OTT and cheesy and unbelievable...but it was the kind of hopeful OTT and adorable cheesy and romantically unbelievable story that occasionally hits all the right buttons and stabs you in the feelz.

(Also, I loved every. single. member of Emilio's family. More of that kind of acceptance in my romance books please.)

Edited to add: I forgot to mention how good a job I thought Aaron Pickering did! He's only got a few titles credited to him but I am definitely more likely to listen to those books after hearing his narration here. His Hispanic accent was soft and sexy and I could listen to that all day.

Re-read on Mar 10th/24

I simply had to re-read this book, because I've liked it so much a couple of years ago, but based on what I've read from this author recently, I had my doubts if this book was really that good - and yes, it definitely was. It was and still is one of my favourite reads.

I'm rating it with 4.5⭐ - the altercation with Spencer's ex should be a little more violent but I did very much like the ending and the epilogue, I loved the vows part

“Emilio?” Spencer said softly as he trailed his fingers over Emilio’s hand.
“Yeah?”
“If I got you a ring, would you wear it?”
Emilio’s heart sped up. “What kind of ring?” he asked.
“Whatever kind you want,” Spencer answered. “I was just thinking if you wore it here”—he traced the ring finger on Emilio’s left hand—“everyone would know you were taken.” He glanced up at Emilio, looking nervous but hopeful.
“Yeah, cariño,” Emilio answered thickly. “If you got me a ring like that, I’d wear it.”

and I'm rounding it up anyway, this is one of my favorite comfort books.

Emilio is just wonderful. He's great. He's one of those dreamy, fantastic unicorn guys that you just don't meet.
Like ever.
Where's my Emilio??

😄😄😭

Right onto my favorites shelf.

Amazing book. I simply loved it.

Rating : 5

🔵 College professor / blue collar worker
🟢 Age gap 22/38
🟡 Size difference
🟣 Sweet, romantic, passionate
🔵 Some ex drama
🟢 Hurt/comfort
🟠 MMC was raped in the past, has issues with ED, fear
🌶️ Descriptive sex scenes, very good; rimming, kissing, holding, cuddling, oral, penetrative; (younger) t/b

Emilio is a 22 year old blue collar worker who's tall, muscular, extremely good looking and works at a construction site at a nearby University where he sees Spencer, a 38 year old college math professor, who's just his type and eventually Emilio takes a chance and approaches the guy.

Spencer's also noticed Emilio and has been ogling him from his office window for weeks and when Emilio finally comes by to say hi, Spencer is all flustered, since he couldn't imagine, not even in his wildest dreams, that a guy like Emilio would be interested in him.
Spencer has quite a low self-esteem because he's had shit relationships and his ex really did a number on him, so Spencer thinks he's not worthy of attention and his problems are why he won't ever get lucky in love.

Emilio senses Spencer's struggle, but he really likes the shy professor and he's very interested and adamant in pursuing him, so much so that he makes a crazy proposition of moving into his home and doing repairs on his house while they get to know each other.

"Either the ground was shaking or he was. This couldn’t be real. Things like this didn’t happen to Spencer Derdinger: Great- looking men acting like he was some sort of catch. Hard- ons that wouldn’t quit. Free remodeling advice."

Little did Spencer know that Emilio's intentions are pretty serious; he's never felt like this before with anyone and he's falling in love.
Not only that, Emilio has a great family, he's got great values instilled in him and he's taken Spencer completely not under his wing, but under his care. Emilio cares a lot. He's willing to go at Spencer's pace and just slowly ease him into their relationship, which also means sex - penetrative sex, that Spencer hasn't probably had in years.

This was such a wonderful book.
A really well developed story with good, lifelike dialogues, good interactions between the MMC's and no unnecessary drama.
I absolutely loved them together. They make the relationship work despite the age difference. I really liked how their days were described, how loving and in tune Emilio was with Spencer. I liked everything.

Pre-ordered.
Note to whoever reminds me : download 30 August. :)

This author wrote one of my all time favorites He Completes Me so every time a new book comes out I think, will this one be the one to top that one ? *snicker snort at my very lame attempt at punny humor*

This one comes damn close, but no, Zach and Aaron retain their spot as my favorite Cardeno C. couple.

Spencer is 38 and a very smart, quiet, shy and unassuming man. He also is pretty insecure and has issues. At times he seems a lot younger than his chronological age, at least as far as self esteem and confidence goes.
Emilio is 22, but wow, what a sweet, mature, caring, clever guy. He might not have Spencer's book smarts, but he has people smarts and has a great heart. He is perfect, and does all the right things, I'd have to hate him if I didn't love him so much. lol. To be fair though, the first few pages I was on the fence if Emilio was sweet and perfect or pushy creepy, but that was quickly settled.
This book has very little to no angst, it's sweet and sugary and the guys are perfect for each other and Emilio's family is supportive and warm and welcoming and accepting.
The couple has no conflict and steamy hot sex, only one small blight of an ex to mar the perfect rosy rainbow colored future, but he is swiftly dealt with by a flying projectile and all is good in Emilio and Spencer land.

Just what I needed today
This author's books are great for escapism and feel good time, smiling, smexy, loving HEA kind of stories and when I need a dose of sugar, I know one of these will do the job.

Strong enough by Cardeno C.
This was just what I needed! This sweet loving caring couple. Instant love that was so endearing. One was hurt and the other gave so much trust, glorious hot tension, a lovely family. Sappy, drooling, tears. Two hot guys
One full empath the other sensitive. One so protective and the other feeling safe. One full of compassion the other deeply hurt. Both were determined about their relationship, funny and strong and hot as hell. Both were going for forever. Loved it !!!

Significant age difference was no barrier for these two. Young construction worker Emilio was sweet, caring, considerate and the perfect match for Professor Spencer Derdinger. Strong Enough was a lovely tale of overcoming insecurities and a bad past relationship. Honey sweet all round!

This book is completely OTT, but I still love it. It is instalove/instalust at its best. Spencer is shy and endearing, and his lack of self esteem just breaks my heart. Emilio is exuberant and so sweet. He's only 22, but he knows what he wants. I loved his whole family. It's totally cheesy, but I have always loved this author's books.

***** I really enjoyed this sweet, loving, caring, mushy, honest book. *****

We get deep characters that we like right away, an intriguing story, and amazing, erotic sex scenes, yummy. Everything you could want is here. This "love-at-first-sight" tale is about a construction worker and the college professor, seeing each other as they are caught peeking at each other.
38 yr. old Spencer, is 5'9", 160 lbs., soft, beginning to grey, and has big dimples, and apparently just what Emilio is looking for. Emilio, 22, cut muscles, chiseled features, and perfect, is a licensed electrician, with a big Spanish family, and his targeting Spencer. Bold Emilio catches up to shy Spencer in the parking lot and asks him if he's interested in getting together. Spencer is shy, hesitant and amazed at how stunning Emilio is up close. After Emilio bulldozes his hesitation, he says yes. And so it began. Emilio knows he's the "one". Spencer has a past that makes him leery, he's socially limited, and had a stifling family, but the guys get to talk everything over, explain, share, and accept, with total honesty and devotion. It does your heart good to watch the men find their passions, their deep emotions, their unconditional feelings. Loved it !
Emilio is stronger, bigger, rougher, gorgeous, skilled and kind, and he made Spencer feel alive for the first time in a long while. Spencer finally tells Emilio his problems, his ex cause some trouble, there's family to meet, etc.. Emilio is an awesome character.
I highly recommend this lovely tale of needs being met, strong men taking what they want, overcoming obstacles, and true love.
Highly recommend. ENJOY !!

Whoa...zero to sixty! Even with 2 weeks of fantasizing, that was fast. Talk about insta... something. It was ridiculous, but if you can get past that, this is a sweet fairy tale of a story. Spencer was adorable and Emilio was his knight in shining armor. And the sex was hot.

I also had to get past:
1) Spencer sometimes acting like a needy and insecure 16 year old, not a 38 year old.
(It worked for Emilio, though. He wanted someone to take care of, and Spencer definitely fit that requirement.)

2) Emilio saying "ain't" all the time, and gotta or gonna. It felt like it was included to emphasize the difference in education between Emilio and Spencer and it irritated me. He was an electrician getting his contracting license, not a high school dropout, and I thought the "I ain't smart like you" part of the story was unnecessary.

3) The drama with Spencer's ex.

This was an odd one for me. I'd be sighing and loving this sweet couple one minute then rolling my eyes the next. I kept putting it down, so it took awhile to finish reading.

Loved this.... I see a lot of people having problems with insta-love but I like it... it really worked well for these two. Spencer needed someone like Emilio and Emilio liked that Spencer needed him.
They just connected well together.
Emilio was so sweet and patient, he really brought Spencer back to himself.

Another 5 stars for me, if I could give it more I so would... I love this series!

Beware the insta-love!

But it's fucking sweet, okay. So when you're in the mood for over-the-top cuteness and sap and you've exhausted the internet's supply of puppy and kitten videos, grab this book.

5 ADORING hearts!!

See my original review for the book here. This review is purely for the Audio.

I have read this book a few times already, it's definitely one of my favourite comfort reads! When I saw Ezekiel Robison had done the narration for it I got my grabby little hands all over it! There was no way this could be bad, amazing narrator and romantic story, sign me up!

I first heard Robison’s narration in ‘More than Everything’ and was blown away at the variety of voices he could produce for a mostly all male dialogue. Somehow he managed to find another two completely different voices for Spencer and Emilio.

Robison does a Spanish accent for Emilio and all his brothers, at first I was a little hesitant about that, I was curious to see if he’d be able to pull it off throughout the entire book. He definitely did! not many people could stick with an accent while reading a sex scene and still make it sound hot. Robison’s narration makes me forget that I’m listening to a book, he’s so involved and animated with his voices that I feel like I’m intruding on these men’s lives by listening to their personal moments.

If you haven't read the story, I’d definitely recommend going with the audio, although actually reading it is worth the time as well. Beware though, this story is all Insta-love and fluff, comfort and romance. It has enough drama to keep it from getting boring but Emilio and Spencer are solid and stable together from 3 hours after meeting, until the end.

Listening to this book in audio and actually hearing Emilio and Spencer talk to each other really changed the story and gave it that extra dimension I didn’t know it was missing. Loved It so hard!!!
