A ship breach at the hands of blood-eyed acquisitioners, a bleeding... thing on the 8th deck disembodied at the hands of a Teleran prince, and the royal warrior's intense interest in forbidden fraternization with the duty-bound Shala puts the voluptuous of officer in a compromising position, even as the prince is sure to be imprisoned for spilling a Tavalar ward's blood.
Shala can't wait to get off of Telera One the second it docks and recolonizes the people of the original Telera. Gruff, ornery, and generally suspicious of outsiders, they haven't made her time easy as an officer of the allied forces. So, when their prince is forced to defend himself and nearly murder an intruder, and the captain delays reports of it, she's understandably confused. Especially when despite the no-fraternization rule of the allied forces, she's invited to one of the Telerans' most sacred spirit-revering ceremonies as his esteemed “plus one.” Can she really keep denying how hot the room gets when he enters it, or the not-uncomfortably invasive way he looks at her? And when he goes all in for the claim, will she accept an uncertain future as a princess, in the middle of a burgeoning blood feud with the father of the intruder he bloodied? It seems like a sure dance with the devil; so why is she making her way toward the dance floor...
A BBW Science Fiction Romance (with a steamy and irresistible HEA)
note: This alien warrior romance is sprinkled with a bit of 'All Hallows' in the form of the Teleran event: Eiowa. Happy Hallow's readers!
Started off really strong (5+ stars) but ended in a severe rush with no further information on this complex story and zero information about their relationship. Major cliffhanger. The story just stops after some pretty huge holes already. Unbelievable.
Shala Kane is trapped in between not only political intrigue by opposing forces, but royal intrigue and a forbidden attraction as well. Each side has their distinct reasoning in this tangled web with spiritual, emotional, monetary or antagonistic personal gains to be had by the parties involved on top of it. Now Shala's heart and career are on the line...then the story just drops off after that buildup after tearing down the h's main qualities with no information or explanation. No chemistry, no ending, no nothing. PG13 for some violence and one badly written, swift intimate scene.
God, the hero. What a mess. We learn next to nothing about him. She had spoken to the guy oh, say, twice before they got swept up into said suspicious whirlwind. Her genetic history seemed to mean a lot to him concerning her 'warrior spirit' but when it came down to it, he was happy to hold her back from her duties and treat her like the little lady. Oh, and singlehandedly ruins her career because he wants her after now 3 whole conversations. She's apparently that desperate.
The need for a lot of the alien terms to be self-explanatory. There is a lot of detail and futuristic language in this book at first that is assumed we glean the meaning by context alone without being explained. It's hardly difficult to discern but it leaves the reader feeling like an outsider at times. Like a friend name dropping when you have no idea what they're talking about, but can guess the basics through context: "Sarah, oh you know Sarah right? (Nope, but continue...) well, she did that thing that she does (no idea) that was just so funny. Ya know? (Nope, but I can imagine...knowing Sarah...)"
I don’t know how to describe this book. It was interesting at the very least. I could barely understand what the author was writing. I don’t know if she was trying to be poetic or flowery in a prose form, smh. It was confusing to follow what she was trying to say.
I absolutely hate stories in parts! This book is NOT a full length story! The next “book” is a continuation of this one.
I already bought all her books so I will keep reading but I was disappointed in this book. After reading her Fire Planet and Caveman series I was expecting more interesting gripping universe and romance plot. But this was horribly edited and it was written in parts. So right when you start to get into it it’s over. Smdh
Really good alien sci-fi if you're like me an enjoy reading about multiple alien species and how humans (or in this case, halflings) interact and thrive amongst them. Our heroine, Shala, is a halfling officer stationed on a ship tasked with bringing an alien race known as the Telerans to their new home. She seems to be a lonely woman, searching for her missing best friend, all the while trying to serve to the best of her ability. After an incident on-board, she draws the interest of the Teleran Prince and her world is forever changed. The story is short, but packed with lots of fascinating alien lore that makes this a great read.
Lots of scifirom is either just romance with some SF elements or SF with some romance elements. But this book has a real romance brilliantly intertwined with a real SF plot. The MC is competent and likeable, while the alien warrior love interest is exotic and sexy and the villains are SERIOUSLY evil. There's a real mystery here, too, involving SF tech that reads as completely believable. I can't wait to read more about these characters!
I had trouble getting through this. I have to agree with another reviewer that this seemed disjointed. I seemed to move a bit slow for me too especially the beginning. I also didnt quite understand what it was really about. Thats what I mean by disjointed. One thought here but there was no follow through on it before another thing was introduced. It also ended abruptly. I wouldnt call it a cliffhanger but some might think so. I just ended FAST on a thought that she was going with him.
A alien Prince an military female officer only assignment is to protect the Prince an his people .
A military ship carrying new members of the Alliance to a new world after their old world went under water is almost reached their destination when it comes under attack . Protocols are issued to insure safety . Diplomatic crisis must be diverted at all cost .18+
This was very promising. The end was rushed and story incomplete. This had potential to be great but seemed rushed. Too many unanswered questions. Pity. Enjoyed what there was but very disappointed at its end
This book made no sense. There was no world building or explanations to understand the events. The 2 leads fell in love after 2 encounters with little interaction. Terrible.
It's was so full of action and suspense. I loved it. The descriptions and characters were vivid and it's so well written. I wanted some of the Ba c ground explanation to be more in depth, and the ending to have a little more closure. But I really enjoyed t his story
I loved this mini book! The adventure ended way too soon. There was great chemistry between Shala and Tarik. I can't wait until the next part comes out!!!!!!
I am really impressed. The characters have depth the worlds are interesting and engaging. Can't wait to read more. If u liker sci fi romance SNATCH this one up!!!
