***Offensive/Graphic language- Explicit Sexual Situations 18+*** Weezie & Keenan's story from Reviving Haven
We all have to be superior at one thing. Well, fellatio is my thing—my forte. I’m blessed because I enjoy the one activity I’ve perfected. If they gave out awards for puff chores, I’d win the Nobel. Blowing a man is an art form, a skill, one I’ve spent years refining. My mouth is as talented as Picasso and as rare as the Allnatt Diamond. The truth is I love being down on my knees because I know I have the power to bring you to yours. In that moment, I own you and you’ll do anything for that pleasure. I’ve never desired a relationship or a significant other. It’s not in my nature to be monogamous. Variety is the spice of life, and I plan to sample every man I can.
Then my fantasy came true, and I got a chance to meet him. Keenan Stone. Gorgeous, rich, famous, and young. The thorn in my side. The pebble in my shoe. The fly in my ointment. It is supposed to be a single night of debauchery. But he is a gentleman. He has morals. He has feelings. Three things I abhor in men I want to blow. Ever been refused in a British accent? For the first time in my life, I am brought to my knees. And it isn't for a BJ!
Good to delve into Weezie's past...good to know why she is the way she is: not without flaws. I found her to be cavalier and selfish with Keenan's heart, stringing him along. I loved Keenan, but wanted him to be more Alpha and not so "British.". All in all, I did enjoy Weezie's story and felt it was a good compliment to Reviving Haven.
Oh Weezie, you dirty girl!!! I couldn't wait to read Weezies story, she cracked me up in Reviving Haven and I wasn't disappointed. From her fear of commitment down to her puff chores she was hilarious. Kee and his Cockzilla lol I love that word. This was a fun fast read but I loved every minute of it.
I really loved the character weezie She made me laugh, defiantly a firecracker , lived her life by her rules. But when Keenan comes along and falls for her , boy I just kept thinking Don't let him Go. The Ending had me , I had tears in my eyes because I felt for her. Loved this Book...
This was a slow starter bc it had so much to cover as review. Weezie’s story is concurrent to Haven’s, the first book. And so we get to revisit all of that from Weezie’s POV. Some is repetitive. Suffice it to say, this character is defined as the one-bj-stand.
“Women could rule the fucking world if they did it on their knees.”
She’s eleven years old than him, and they e been together - in the “present” of the book - about five years. Which doesn’t quite ring true when she says Keenan needs someone his own age, albeit much of their relationship has been in passing. Oh, and the first year she does cheat - with his blessing. To her it isn’t cheating. It’s only her hobby. BJs. But it is, let’s be honest.
It’s cut and dried, not cut and dry. Parameters, not perimeters. Don’t even know what was meant by allocate…share?
Apart from the twitching body parts and the glitchy word choices, it ended up being pretty decent.
I thought Weezie was a great sidekick in Reviving Haven, and loved how she and Keenan, the two best friends, connected. I had high hopes for their story in Rug Burns, but was disappointed by the end. I thought she was terribly immature for a woman in her 40s, and she walked all over Keenan. I just didn't buy that he was THAT devoted to her that he was okay with her doling out her "puff chores" to other guys as long as she only slept with him. Because if that's the only way he could have her, he'd take it. Um, okay? Keenan is one of the world's biggest models. I just didn't buy it.
This Reviving Haven series wasn't the best I've read by Cory Cyr. And for that reason I'm glad that I read her later works first. Rug Burns and Reviving Haven both fell flat for me, but I'm still looking forward to Cory's upcoming releases!
An older woman and a younger man romance with a great intensity. Nothing else needs to be said except to read this book and find out how their happily ever after is possible.
I am not even going to lie I DNF this one. I got to 70% of the book till I have in and just stopped. It's is sad to give this rating to this book because I really wanted to read Weezie story. I wanted to know her background since I really liked her in Reviving Haven.
But I have to say this book was just bad. I don't even know how I made it to 70% of the book without flinging my Kindle across my room. I thought of Weezie in the last book as this woman who was confident and strong and knew what she wanted and got it. But this book proved me completely wrong.
Weezie is an insecure woman who more like lied to herself to convince herself that all she liked to do was suck men's cock. Now don't get me wrong their is nothing wrong with a woman who is somewhat of a slut but the fact that she kept comparing herself to Latch from the previous book because he was a manwhore was just sad. No Weezie was no whore she was just insecure and in denial of what she wanted.
Another thing I didn't like was the repetitive of Latch and Haven from the previous book. She had the nerve to say that latch was an ass at times for what he did to Haven but come on Weezie. Pot meet kettle??? She was doing the same thing to Keenan.
I like my books to have a heroine and hero who don't cheat on each other and the fact that while she was with Keenan she was still giving other guys blowjobs seriously disgusted me. I think the author really wanted for Weezie to be a woman who was confident about what she wanted instead Weezie came off insecure and unsure of herself. Everytime she talked about how happy she was for Haven came off as if she was really truly jealous of what her best friend had.
When she mentioned how having a family and being in love was not for her just wasn't convincing enough for me. It felt like she was just lying to herself and that truly irked me. She got mad at Haven for not being as open as she was. Like seriously who the fuck are you??!! I just wanted to pull my hair out my head!!
I was not convinced that she really didn't want those things. Another thing was this story was the same as the first book Vise versa with Weezie being Latch and Keenan being Haven. It was just a hot mess and a bit disgusting if you ask me. I ended up hating Weezie and that sucks because I really liked her. There was also the fact that she was obsessed with getting Haven laid in the chapters where we get a bit about their time in college. Is like Weezie just wanted Haven to be like her. She really got on my nerves.
I did not bother to finish because the moment the two main characters come together for the first time there was absolutely no chemistry between them at all. Zero chemistry people!!!!!0!!! That was where I drew the line and stopped reading.
I recommend this book of you want to know what happens to this couple other than that I suggest you don't read it because if you liked Weezie in the last book you will end up hating her in this one.
I don't even know what to say about Rug Burns ... My face aches from laughing so much. I just love Weezie. She really doesn't pull any punches...EVER :D
Okay... I'll give this a go. I really don't want to give anything away. I just want you to read this book and enjoy all fun. I fear I'll have to give you something to go on though.
Rug Burns is the story of Weezie's life... And I mean that literally. We learn ALL about her in this book. We learn when and why she began giving 'puff chores' and how they make her feel very powerful. We see how she and Haven first met and find out how and why they are such great friends. We hear the sordid tale of how she loses her V-card and many of her sexploits. Then one day she has the opportunity to meet Keenan Stone. Uber hot model and apparently super sweet guy. Seriously... I think any mother would be happy if their daughter brought home a guy like Keenan. He is just a beautiful soul. Inside and out. He falls in love with Weezie and goes about trying to secure her heart. Honestly, he tries everything. Weezie spends most of the book in denial about her feelings, trying to pretend that she is immune to Keenan. She's not. That dope :) Keenan changes Weezie's life. It's subtle, at first... He's a challenge for her. All she wants is get into his pants ... Too bad he makes her work for that :D So funny to see her thwarted each time she tries... The things she says about him because he won't give in to her ..... I nearly spat my coffee out of my nose. Note to self: *Do not drink anything while reading this book :D
I love the way Keenan and Weezie interact with each other. They have some hilarious conversations and some underwear melting sex. You can't help but love the way they are with each other. It's a nice change to see a man who is ready to commit to a woman, and a woman who is afraid of commitment. Too often men are portrayed as skirt chasing commitmentphobes, it's nice to see a role reversal. If you need a good laugh and a light hearted tale without any violence or cruelty, this is your story. You will, most likely, want to smack Weezie upside the head a few times, but you will still derive a great amount of joy from this story. I know I did. This may become my go to book when I have a book hangover and need some happiness to mend my battered heart.
If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Weezie yet, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Reviving Haven before reading Rug Burns...while you could read this as a standalone, to fully appreciate it you really need to read RH first.
With Rug Burns I knew we'd be in for some laughs, because this is Weezie's story afterall, but I have to say this book was so much more than I expected, in the best possible way. Cory has really outdone herself with this one...it's funny, it's heartfelt, it's endearing, and of course it's sexy.
I've noticed with a couple of books I've read this year, that star the best friend from the first book in a series, that there's been a let-down for me...the best friend didn't live up to my expectations when they got their own book, it's like they became a different person. But not with Rug Burns...Weezie lived up to, and exceeded, all my expectations. She's just as funny as before, the woman has no filter and she's not afraid to go after what she wants. We also get to see her vulnerable side, and that's the part I really liked best.
I loved how this story was told- we start out in present day, it actually picks up right where the epilogue in Reviving Haven ends, but then we're taken on a trip to the past...we get to see how the queen of puffchores came to be, we get to see how and when the friendship between Weezie and Haven began, (I love the friendship these 2 have!), and we get to see and experience her relationship with Keenan. If Keenan doesn't move up to the top of your bbf list than there is something seriously wrong! The patience and heart that man has when it comes to her, Weezie is one lucky lady...if only she would let herself see that! Keenan goes out of his way to give her time and space, not pushing her for more than she can give, but ultimately the man wants more, and who can blame him. It's time for Weezie to decide if Keenan's the man for her, or if she's content to live her life puffchore to puffchore...
I'm not sure there will be a book Cory writes that could ever knock Bite & Release out of the top spot for me, but Rug Burns has firmly cemented itself as my second favorite book of hers.
I hate that I'm having to give this book less than 5 stars because I love Cory's books. I have fallen in love with every single one of her stories and I was beyond excited to read Weezie and Keenan's story after I was introduced to them in Reviving Haven, but this book just did not hit home for me. Yes, I knew what it was going to be about. Yes, I knew that Weezie had a thing for "puff chores". But what I was not expecting was for 40% of this book to be about Weezie and her next conquest, the next male body part she could put in her mouth. I understand that this is Weezie's story and getting to know her, her antics. Once I got through that 40%, I enjoyed seeing how her relationship developed with Keenan. I loved the ending and I just wish there could have been more of Weezie and Keenan together.
I really had to step outside of the box when reading this and thinking of the review I was going to write because even though I didn't particular fall in love with it, I know there are readers that will. It was well written and the story line is thoughtfully planned out, just be prepared for more of Weezie's life story, than of Weezie & Keenan.
If you are not familiar with Cory's books', she writes of older women, younger men. I love her stories because they are different, unique. I would highly recommend reading Reviving Haven first but it is not needed to read this book. **Book was purchased, no ARC provided**
Weezie is quite the character. She is great at 'puff chores', as her friend Haven likes to call it. It seems as if she is defined by it, as if this skill is all that she has to offer. But Keenan Stone, hot Brit, sees past what she thinks is her great talent to the woman that she is. She's successful, 45, and single. She is not looking for nor wants a relationship, no matter how happy Haven is.
I enjoyed Weezie's humor, her confidence, and that she doesn't need a man or marriage to define herself. However, she is pushing away the chance at love. This seems to be an issue for many successful, single women. How do you let a man in without losing yourself?
The story goes to Weezie's high school and college years as she defines her sexuality. It was interesting and fun look at who she was. The one thing i would have liked more of is Keenan and Weezie together. They were either having sex or talking about Weezie's lack of commitment. I would have liked a couple of scenes of them falling in love. Their banter, awkwardness, and growing feelings.
There were enough sizzling sex scenes, and Keenan is hot! Lucky Weezie! She is definitely a fun character, and this was a sexy, fun, touching read as Weezie gets a chance to go past her fears to allow in love.
This can read as a standalone or after Reviving Haven, book 1. I won a copy in a giveaway (not from the author).
OMG, could I love Cory and her writing more? Okay, so Reviving Haven was wonderful, but Kennan and Weezie? Sheesh, sign me up! The story leaves off after the epilogue to Reviving Haven and let me just say wow! I was nervous coming into it, just because I wasn't sure how well we would fully understand everything that has led up to this moment between Kennan and Weezie, especially when we're talking years later, and it is only one book! However, it turned out that I needn't be worried at all, because it was wonderful. I found the way Cory went from past to present odd at first, but it worked for the book and how Weezie needed to tell her story. In fact, I'm not sure that it could have worked any other way now. The fact is, to really understand Weezie, we need to see into her past, and what fun was that?! Tons, I tell you. Kennan is the man I would want by my side forever: patient, sweet, kind, dominating in the ways that matter, giving, and sexy as fuck. Then, we get Weezie, who let's face it, if you've read Reviving Haven...you've loved her since the beginning. She is a total riot, and she is complicated, yet seemingly simple. I love that she isn't one-dimensional in the slightest. She made me laugh constantly, and I cried like a baby when she got her happy-ending. Puff-chore loves unite!
As a huge fan of Rug Burns predecessor Reviving Haven, not only was I looking forward to jumping into Weezie and Keenan's story but after opening the book and diving in... I stayed inside nonstop until the very end. Funny, clever, emotional and heart warming with a side of Keenan's "Cockzilla" I can truly say that Rug Burns gave Reviving Haven and maybe Latch Mckay a serious run for its money.
Weezie is a fourty-something, successful woman with zero interest in ever settling down and a huge appetite for the cock- specifically Keenan's.
Keenan is a wealthy actor and model with a heavy dose of Hot British nice guy.. Everything that Weezie has worked to avoid, at least the nice guy part.
From page one your drawn in with serious laughs that will test your will in keeping anything you may be sipping on- in your mouth.. Pun intended. Rounded out with humor and you are delivered, in the most excellent way- the most fun story that I've at least read in a very long time... If EVER! My only disappointment, that turning the pages stressed the spine and kept my book from perfect condition on my shelf front and center!
If you read Reviving Haven, you got your first taste of Weezie, Haven’s best friend.
It was obvious they were opposites and I couldn’t help but wonder how they became friends in the first place.
Enter Rug Burns, Weezie’s story. And what a story it is. You get the background information on Weezie and Haven, and how they met and grew to love each other.
Oops, did I say the “L” word and Weezie in the same sentence?
Another thing you’ll learn is how the term “puff chore” came about. Foul-mouthed Weezie is a BJ expert. She’s the Queen of one and done - make it shoot, then scoot.
That was, until she met Keenan. He was everything she’d wanted and everything she wanted to avoid all rolled up into one tall, sexy, British package (no pun intended).
Curious how she deals with a younger man who can’t shake her from his system, who wants to not only see her more than once, but falls in love with her?
You know what to do – one-click this bitch and get to reading!
When I first started this book MONTHS ago, I was not enjoying it. I couldn't get on board with Weezie. She drove me crazy. I decided to shelve it and come back at a later time, and I'm glad I stuck with the book this time. I actually came to care about Weezie and to root for her. I wanted her to figure her sh*t out so she could be happy. Keenan, of course, was magnificent. I wish the author had not skipped over so much of their relationship. I felt like we got a whole lot about Weezie's college days, and not enough about the 5 years she and Keenan spent together.
There was a lot of "telling" going on in the story, and at times I wanted to be made to feel, more than just read. The only time I felt real, true emotion was at the end when Weezie broke down sobbing-- I won't say why.
In the end, it wasn't a perfect book, or one where I fell in love with the characters. There just wasn't enough emotion and feeling for me to do that, but it was a fun and irreverent read.
WARNING: This book is NOT for the overly sensitive reader at all ...contains Strong language and sexual content. OMG this book should most definitely be nominated for Funniest book of the year. I laughed so hard and so much while reading this. The characters were excellent especially Weezie. She is blunt, honest, hilarious, and so sexually confident it is shocking yet wonderful. She is what they mean when they say "not relationship material" or just a fun friend to the max. It was very interesting and fun to see a woman hanging tough in a man's world 9 sexually).
I'm new to this author and am so excited to have found out about her books. her writing style is funny, very fun and fast paced. I love this and it made for a very fast read. I actually went and bought two other books by her as I can't get enough of her writing.
I love Wezzie who just so happens to be in love with puff chores. I mean you think a book based on puff chores would be dirty and this story made puff chores work. Weezie is a fun character to read even if she has things set her way. Keenan, what can I say about him. Love him, the guy some of us dream about. This character makes for a wonderful book boyfriend because he fits the dream, but the personality is outside of the normal book boyfriend. The laughter is had over Weezie and her antics to wondering what is going to come next. Both shocked and amazed me. Would I recommend this book? Yes, because sometimes we need to read something that doesn’t fit the normal book box that has angst, humor, and romance.
Weezie's story is fantastic. It's steamy, sexy, emotional, thoughtful and heart breaking. Weezie pushes everyone away emotionally, she has for decades. How do you change what you feel when you don't have the experience? She never played around with her heart and when it finally starts to engage she feels out of her element. Puff chores were and are so much more predictable, they don't involve your heart, your emotions, your feelings. Keenan is the dream and drool-worthy opponent that every woman would love to have in her life. Sexy, handsome, great in bed, hung and emotionally attached to the one woman who makes him laugh. Read Weezie's story if you dare. See what really happens when Kee asks her to marry him, will it be yes? Or will it be no? Enjoy!
Bravo Cory Cyr, Bravo!!! Even though Rug Burns can be read as a standalone, I'd highly suggest reading Reviving Haven to fully appreciate how this best friend's story comes to life. I respect an author that writes a story that truly makes me laugh out loud and makes a sexual encounter not only sexy, but fun!
I love the older woman and younger man scenario that Cory delivers to us time and time again! Long live the #puffchore that only Wheezie can deliver to Keenan's "Cockzilla"!
Thank you Cory for coming out of your so called "dark side of music and horror stories" and putting pen to paper to deliver this heart-felt, sexy, fun, love story.
I was given this book for an honest review, and I need to get past the WOW factor first. Reviving Haven, Book 1, was awesome. But Cory has out done herself in Rug BURNS, Book 2. Wasn't sure if I would like this book as much as her others, as this is about one of my least favorite topics...BUT, I found myself wondering if I tried some of these things out on my hubby, would I get the same reaction? Cory had me hooked from Chapter 1 and I need more. Weezie is a fowl mouth woman who knows what she wants and how she wants it. Keenan is the most eligible and most handsome model/actor. Age means nothing to Keenan and almost everything to Weezie. Can you overcome the age issues? Can love really concur all?? DEFINITELY A MUST READ.
We first met Weezie in Reviving Haven by Cory Cyr. Weezie is Haven's best friend and deserved this book so much!!! Cory did not disappoint at all delivering the best Weezie Story Imaginable. Full of the quirky little comments that only Weezie can come up with. Lets not forget to mention the hot, hot, oh and did I mention some pretty hot sex scenes! Weezie just isnt capable of the Love emotion...does she find her equal, which causes her to start feeling what it is? Or does she stick to her guns and refuse to give in? Loved how Cory managed to pull me in right from the get go on this one!!!!
This was not what I was expecting for book 2. I thought it would be a continuation of the first story but with the main characters being Weezie and Keenan. And maybe some tidbits of Haven and Latch. But instead it was very little of the present and a lot of the past. I just feel like there was too much time spent in the past and the little that was the present felt rushed. I'm not sure I even felt a back story was necessary. If any, maybe just from where she first met Keenan. Just not what I was expecting.
Rug Burns is the companion novel to Reviving Haven and it focuses on the side characters who were best friends to Haven and Latch in Reviving Haven. Rug Burns is Keenan and Weezie's story through Weezie's perspective. It also gives background on Weezie and her and Keenan's relationship. I absolutely loved this book! This is another awesome story from an awesome author!! Pick it up!! You will love Weezie and Keenan!!
I am so glad Weazie's story let me see why she was like she was. Keenan is a God, in my opinion. Anyone with a Cockzilla, and a good man at that is worth a risk. I love Weazie a lot. She gives #Puffchore, it true meaning. I can't get enough of these characters. I hope to see more from Haven, Latch, Weazie & Keenan in the future. Keep up the good work Author Cory Cyr. You make reading books enjoyable and getting your readers into the story from page one.
The cover really grabbed me, I do enjoy a book that will make you laugh at the characters this book is pretty good, I really like that Wezie is so independent and outspoken, she lives life on her own terms and makes no apologies for it, but she does have a heart. This is book 2 in the Reviving Haven series I have not read book 1, I really want to as then I think the characters would be better understood by me. I was gifted this book for a fair and honest review
Omg, I didn't think this series could get any better and yet you did just that! I like the continuous flow of the story. The in depth look into the complex emotions and life of the characters made me fall so deep in love with these characters! The story line was just genius and so steamy sexy that I couldn't put it down! I will definitely be adding this series to my reading circle! A very excellent and must read!
I really wanted to love Weezie because we got to hear her history and the reasons behind who she is but she is selfish and mean. It killed me how she treated Keenan but I was equally as disappointed that Keenan wasn't tougher with her. I did however love how she finally woke up...I won't say anymore because I don't want to spoil it but be sure you read this one to the end!
Weezie was my favorite character in Reviving Haven. I was not dissapointed. She had me cracking up. You never know what she will say. Keen is such a sweet, patient and sexy. The chemestry between the two is Hot! Really enjoyed it!
Cory Cyr has become one of my favorite authors and automatic buys. Rug Burns is an amazing book filled with loads of laughs and panty melting fun! The characters were fabulous and you can't help falling in love with them. I highly recommend this book!
