Mina Kitchen #5

Juicy Jersey

Rate this book
Grab the latest funny fiction in the Mina Kitchen Cozy Mystery series!More cozy comedy! More murders!

Summertime, and the living is umm--not as easy as Mina had hoped. But, she finally has a full-time job, working alongside her new boyfriend, Jack (that is, Chef Jacque, when they’re at Squirrel Run Acres.) That’s good, right? Except that poor Mina and Jack have been working together a lot lately--specifically fourteen hour shifts in a sizzling kitchen--for months.

When tempers flare hotter than fat on a fire, Jack steps up and splurges for a romantic get-away to Cape May Point, New Jersey. All is forgiven and soon Sunset Beach winks from the distance, until Mina’s stuck with dog sitting duties for Jim, her buddy Bauser’s three-legged dog. Complicating the canine conundrum is Bauser’s last minute plea to deliver Jim to a client location, in Bumville, New Jersey. No biggie, except that Bumville lies in the polar opposite direction from Cape May. And Vito and Miriam also happen to be visiting the client--who is none other than Vito’s niece, Helena Pryzchntchynzski. Oy.

Further jeopardizing their journey through Jersey is Jim’s discovery of Babette Bernstein. Her murder launches a connect-the-dots of corpses that ripples dangerously around Mina and Jack. Oh--and the kidnappings, plural--are a little scary, too.

Will Mina and Jack escape the bad guys? Will they survive their first vacation together? More importantly, will they finally have one?

If you're in the mood for funny fiction, a cast of chatty pets, and unsolved murders--read on. Juicy Jersey packs a roller coaster ride of murders, mayhem and mojitos. Come root for Mina, boo the bad guys and nibble a nosh, courtesy of the author’s recipes in the back of the book, vetted by Lund’s real-life favorite chef, her husband, Chef Andrew.

˃˃˃ READERS' FAVORITE 5-STARS for PERFECTLY If You Love Stephanie Plum, Wait Until You Meet Mina Kitchen!!!"This is my first book by Lizz Lund and let me tell you, it won’t be my last! Filled with quirky characters, hysterical dialogue and a main character who always seems to be surrounded by hijinks, Perfectly Pickled is one of the best cozy mysteries I have read since Janet Evonovich’s Stephanie Plum series.”

˃˃˃ READERS' FAVORITE 5-STARS for CONFECTION More LOLs to Chase the Winter Blues!"I have fallen in love with this series! Just can't get enough of Mina and friends, especially Vinnie. I want a Vinnie of my very own! I'll be recommending this author to all of my friends and family to brighten their days and pee their pants, in that order..."

˃˃˃ READERS' FAVORITE 5-STARS for CHRISTMAS I Loved the Characters"I've been a fan of Janet Evanovich for years, and found Lizz Lund right up there with Janet. They have similar styles, and a comic flair. I loved the characters…I love a good mystery, and at the same time a good laugh (often laughing out loud while I'm reading) from the story, and this book definitely filled the bill."

˃˃˃ AMAZON "VINE VOICE" 5-STAR REVIEW for KITCHEN OMG! Can you say LOL too much?! Loved it!"OMG! Couldn't stop laughing! Of course, having been to Lancaster frequently and having friends there, I felt right at home, but this was a much more eclectic collection of characters! Made me want to be in their circle, a part of their lives for some time to come.

I love Lizz Lund books, and this one did not disappoint. Mina Kitchen, the main character, always seems to find herself in the midst of a difficult situation generally as a result of her friends. This time it was because she agreed to dog-sit for a friend. Her neighbor, Vito, a former gangster, his girlfriend Miriam, and the usual cast of characters including Mina's other friends also play a part in adding to Mina's difficulties. How a simple vacation with her boyfriend, Jack, could go so wrong is in keeping with a Lizz Lund novel. The characters are fun, and some times outrageous, including a former midget wrestler, and a motorcycle gang of dwarfs. The story twists and turns, and keeps me wanting to read more. It's not unusual to laugh out loud while reading this enjoyable and funny book. Also as a bonus there are recipes at the end.

Humorous cozy. Some crazy characters and unbelievable circumstances, but that’s what makes it fun and engaging.

Usually I enjoy Lizz Lund's Mina Kitchen books but this one just dragged on and on and on . First the Mina and Jack bickering when they're leaving for vacation . Jim the 3 legged dog was cute . But the interminable delay when they took him home and stayed for hours for lunch . Then the dog is stolen and they get involved getting him back and when they finally got to the trip of course Jack managed to get kidnapped and this drug the book on and on even more . But the vacation parts and the restaurants they ate at were great . I just wish it had been more about the vacation and less about the mystery for a change . And a little less of the Jersey bunch .

I found thy story to be a bit wordy. The beginning of the story talks about a dog,the one that the heroine must return to his owner. Unfortunately the dog disappears after having discovered a corpse I couldn't get into the story since it was very slow paced . I wanted more action and more info about who killed the woman found dead in a car.
For this reason, although it was well written with comical dialogues, I gave it only 3 stars.

Jersey Troubles

Lizz Lund has written a block buster vacation for two, Mina Kitchen and boyfriend chef Jack. First they've had to change plans and leave one day do to a last-minute booking at work, but wait Jim the three legged dog now needs to hitch a ride and where he's being dropped at we find Vido wich leeds to a whole new stack of caracters and problems that Lizz Lund could dream of. Enjoy 🤔🙄😊

Mina Kitchen is the main character who ends up in difficult situation, a mystery to be resolved on her vacation with her boyfriend Jack when she is about to drop the dog Jim on the way to Bauser their friend and owner of the dog.
This story is a bit slow paced and i found characters a bit confusing with lot of them being there. It had it's moment at some places with all twists and turns and was an okay read.

Note: There are recipes at the end of the book😊

Fun to read mystery

Juicy Jersey is a funny, mad-cap mystery, with clever dialogue and a crazy mix of characters, including a serial killer, aging acrobatic dwarfs, and a three-legged- dog named Jim. The main character, Mina, is warm, funny, and tolerant. She is someone you would want as a friend.

Trying to be a famous Author!

The story just didn't have the humor in it like other authors do. I fell asleep a couple times while reading it. I'm glad I didn't pay for it!

Mina and her Boyfriend Jack are about to take a vacation to Cape May N.J But first they have to drop off Jim ( the three legged Dog) At a rest stop Jim runs off and they find him at a car where he is trying to get inside. They find a dead Body the police are called an after being interviewed they are on there way again. Once at home Jim gets dog napped. This adds another delay as they stay to help find Jim. It seems the Dog Napper in interested in Vito's Niece and her money. Mina , Jack and the Family are led on a merry chase to get Jim back. But before they get Jim back Jack is kidnapped and than Mina is kidnapped. A fun read i highly recommend if you enjoy a cozy mystery read.

New Jersey Mystery

I chose this book because I live in NJ. I used to live in a Seaside Heights. There is a town for small people and they are very leary of outsiders.
So the story takes off where Mina & Jack are taking a vacation in Cape May. On the way they have to stop & drop off the dog that they were sitting for. Mina has a large extended family. After being there a short time the dog get dog napped. So the adventure starts. After that is solved, Jack goes missing then Mina.
I would be giving you a lot of spoilers if I went on so in my opinion dive into this book.
