Fatal Heir

By L.C. Ireland

Fatal Heir by L.C. Ireland  is a paranormal /fantasy book. This is the first book I've read by this author and I absolutely will be reading more.i loved this story about a young man who finds out that he's not who he thought he was. So we get to go on this journey with him of self discovery and hopefully he'll find the answers he's looking for in regards to his past . I really enjoyed the authors writing style and her ability to grab your attention from the beginning and keep it till the end. I was in some spots on the edge of my seat, the twist and turns some I didn't see coming.Don is not normal by any means,he sees ghost, but no one believes him. What happens when he finds out part of his past is he's an heir to the throne of Aldrin?his big problem is Aldrin is full of the dead. The current king is not happy about Don taking his rightful place. Will Don get the answers he needs from his past to save the future of his people? You want to find out what happens? I highly recommend you read this book! I loved it and can't wait to see what this author comes out with next

Don is an average teenage farm boy, who is rather vain, and loves his family dearly, and had a huge crush on Mel who lives with his family. His family farm is on the very outer reaches of the kingdom, so they aren’t plagued by the deadmen as much as in the more urban settlements. But two special things about Don are that he has someone who always comes to his rescue, an odd man with a crutch who floats in the air and he can see the spirits of dead people. When a seer, touches Don, she sees death about him, and announces to the authorities that he is Izayik Delaron, the doomed prince who will bring death to them all. When the nearby lords and king try to capture and kill him, they make a rebel hero of him, spurring an uprising and forcing him to go on the run, with Rath, his protector, and Mel. He tangles with an imposter wanting the power of being the missing prince, to the capitol overrun by deadmen in search of what happened to his parents, to awakening an angel, and unraveling the mystery of why deadmen roam the country.

This was a fun coming-of-age adventure that went in so many different directions during its journey it’s hard to touch on it all. There was time spent on Don’s childhood, as he tried to prove to others that he wasn’t crazy that a man kept coming to his rescue. So, he kept doing more daring feats, putting himself into dangers to he could get the rescue, as only a cocky kid can. And there was his teenage adoration of Mel and the love of his large family. I loved that he grew up as a character and learned things along the way. Like what death really was. And just what Rath coming to his rescue really meant and what it cost Rath each time. I loved that he wasn’t the smartest person, and really was an ignorant idiot at times, showing off his farm boy background, and that just because he had this revealed history, all it did was give him some attributes, but his background was what really shaped his personality. He was also self-loathing, and guilt-riddled, though with a very vain streak. His personality reminded me a lot of Harry Dresden from the Jim Butcher books, with the dry humor and a bit of a blunt object. He’s a bit like Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, raised on a farm, and then thrown into a journey into a larger world with the sudden knowledge that he has an important heritage, and that heritage might not be a good one. This has plenty of magic, from Don’s ability to see and commune with the dead spirits, to enchanted armor forged by an angel, to Rath’s magical powers. And this doesn’t stay put, it goes on the epic road trip from Don’s small town to the former capitol now overrun by the dead. And I loved that it had more than one token girl in their quest party. They actually had 3 in their group at times, and none of them were there just to be drooled over or serve as damsel-in-distress (that was Don’s role at times). It did irk me that no one was really questioning it right from the start of why there are deadmen around. They had just accepted it as a thing in their world. It took close to the end for light to be shed on that point. Though this book is a “book one” it comes to a conclusion (though with enough room that the series could pick up again with the characters). And after finishing this one, I would certainly be interested in continuing on with the series, but sadly there aren’t any further books out.

Fatal Heir: The Fatal Series Book One by L.C. Ireland – 5 stars

Fatal Heir has been classified as a YA/Fantasy book but I think it’s really fit for all ages. It’s definitely one of those books that I would have read along with my son and had grand discussions about it. He’s 24 now and we no longer read his “required reading” together. ~sigh~ The author has created a rich world and the writing is so descriptive that I was able to see the things I was reading about as if I was watching a movie.

It’s the story about how not everything is as it appears and not everything appears as we have been told. There are layers upon layers to this story and many characters to meet, yet the way it is written, I was able to keep everything and everyone straight.

From the chapter headings to the life lessons there is something here for everyone who enjoys fantasy.

Here are two of my favorite quotes:
“…fear is the savoir of mankind.”
“When you do bad things, black marks appear on your soul.” “I would rather be alone with a clean soul than in a relationship with a black one.”

When I review books I often will write “I would recommend this book to my young cousins” - in the “special thanks” section the author thanks her “darling cousin” so I just knew I was going to like this book based on that alone. Oh, and would absolutely recommend this book to my young cousins.

This book was such an adventure! From Princes coming back from the dead to living golems. From start to finish something is happening. Don finds out he isn't exactly a farm boy. This book follows his journey for answers and basically saving the world as they know it. The whole scenario just seems like its impossible. Especially when The Voices take over. I love books like this. Adventure, magic, a little love, and a genie. Man, this book as it all.

I'm an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock.

This is a great book...I knew by the end of chapter one I was in trouble... I could not put it down... I had to know what happened next... Don/Izzy is the rightful king... Rath has hidden him where no one can find him... With the commoners... Don doesn't understand what is going on around him all he knows is the family that has raised him as their own... He loves his life and would not change anything about it.... Except the deadmen... That he could do without...
This book takes you on one wild ride... I recommend this book to anyone that wants to lose themselves for a bit... L.C. is a great writer.. she has written a book with plots and twist... A book I enjoyed getting lost in... There is a Q and A at the end of the book that hints at a second book... Hope it is out soon I will be looking forward to reading it...

A fantastic novel about life never turning out the way you think it will. From a young age, Donald Baines has always seen spirits. In a world plagued by the deadmen, the resurrected dead, it is unusual and his life being saved by a stranger is even more strange. One day whilst working in the field, he is mistaken for Iztayik Delaren, the Prince of Death for crimes he did not commit. With the stranger's help. he escapes, saves his father from execution and also starts a rebellion against the king. To save Lord Brenden so he can protect their village, Don accompanies the stranger on a wild adventure through the world and battles monsters from the dead that are worthy of a horror novel. He discovers his true identity and mystical powers, but will he turn out the same as his mother? will he even return the same to his fiancée? Can he save the world from destruction and protect his people?
a fantastic novel. a brilliant mix of fantasy and horror. the horror elements, in particular the descriptions of the deadman and the Deadman Queen were spine-chilling. the fantasy of the djinn in Rath and Banash was beautifully written, making Rath more human and keeping his supernatural qualities at the same time. I also adored the palace scene in the Old Capitol which was emotional and amazingly written. Even the intricate details on the circlet and the clothes the Queen was wearing were visually stunning, full of small details to tear at your heart even more. I was unsure of the Stepping and the boot as it seemed a little whimsical for a semi apocalyptic novel, but it was a nice touch. Well written plot. Well developed characters. excellent example of word building even from the start with the superstitions. The only issue I would raise is that some of the dialogue used by Donald like "gross" and "ew" seemed a little too immature for seventeen so perhaps these should be used less often.to improve this. A brilliant read with so many twists and turns I couldn't put it down and I cant wait for the next instalment. Overall, I would give itfive stars.

Fatal Heir
By: L.C. Ireland
5 out of 5 stars

The story Fatal Heir by L.C. Ireland is a fantasy/paranormal book. This is an amazing story that I loved reading. It is the story of a young man who finds out that he is not the person he thought he was. This leads him on a journey of self-discovery and to find answers about his past. He is also trying to find answers to why the land of Aldrin is overrun with the undead and how to stop them. This puts him on a path filled with danger both for himself and those that travel with him. This is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I had read the final page. I love the character of Donald Baines. He has found out that he is really Izayik Delaren, the lost heir to the throne of Aldrin. Izayik is a young man that has a good heart. He cares about others and this sometimes leads him to take actions that are dangerous to both himself and those that are with him. I enjoyed reading about Izayik. He is a character that does a lot of growing in this book. His search for answers and the revelations that he finds stirs up strong emotions within himself. Will Izayik find all the answers that he is looking for? Will he be strong enough to face what is to come? Will he find a way to rid Aldrin of the undead? There are many other characters that are introduced in the story and most of them are friends and allies of Izayik. There is even someone that he has feelings for. There are also those who have their own evil agenda. They try to stop Izayik by having him killed. This is a story that is filled with magic and all sorts of different types of creatures/beings. This is an amazing story by an amazing author. It is the first story that I have read by her and will not be the last. Not only is the story she created wonderful the characters are as well. This story is a perfect example of why I love fantasy books. I can’t wait to read what she writes next!

Fetal Heir by LC Ireland is a fantasy story that has a little bit of everything in it including action, suspense and some mystery. This is my first story by this author and I can't wait to read more of her! I enjoyed her writing style such that she pulls you in from the very beginning. Her attention to details make you feel like you are right there with the characters. Her characters are creative and connectable. They will take you on some twist and turns that you won't want to miss or put down. They will take you on a journey that you will just get lost in. Donald Baines is not your normal everyday child. He sees ghosts. The problem is no one believes him nor do they believe that he has someone following him and saving his life. Years later he is arrested for crimes he didn't do but what will happen when he finds out the truth about himself? What will he do when he finds out that he is a long lost heir to the throne of Aldrin. But the problem he has is that Aldrin is full of the dead. The current king is determined Don not take his rightful place. Don is determined to save the future of his people but will he find what he needs from his past? You will never see what is lurking behind every corner that you encounter in this story. There are many characters in this story but they each have a role that keep this story flowing. I felt kind of bad for Don in parts because he got so frustrated and was confused about who he really was. He is a strong character that knows he is not crazy but seems to know how to get things done. He was connectable and had a way about him that you couldn't help but like. I can't wait to see what happens next! I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens when you see dead people and then find out you are not who you think you are.

Fatal Heir by L.C. Ireland is a epic fantasy adventure that will have your heart racing, your blood pumping and at the same time, have you laughing out loud.

What a ride! This is one of those books that has a little bit of everything. I love, love the humour. It had mr bursting out laughing at the most random times. (I got some funny look on lunch brakes). In all that was happening, those funny shots tied the book into more then just your average adventure. It was refreshing and, to me really took this book up into another level.

The world building was incredible, it was lush, rich and exciting. With each new landscape change you could see it near perfectly. The flow and plot were on point, and didn't stray. The overall story had been perfectly mapped out, so that each epic step seamless connected to the next. I wasn't left confused and plot-holes be dammed.

Izayik, he is by far one of my most favourite chapters of the year. His growth throughout this story was steady, hard and it pushed him to be the hero he was met to be. It was a nice change, especially in male MC's. He was kindhearted, loyal and he almost got himself killed a few times because of that. He is what you would picture a true knight would be, he's everything you wanted in that perfect alfa male, everything that makes a good ruler, prince, and warrior. That was Izayik.

I have to say, I don't read much high fantasy as I use too, and I'm glade I took a chance on this one of a kind read. It has rekindled love for high fantasy and I can't wait to read more about this world that L.C. Ireland has created. Take my high recommendation that you will fall in love with Izayik, his world, and his will to save not only the ones he loves, but his kingdom.

Happy Reading

“Welcome to the real-world Donny-Boy.”
This was my first read by L.C. Ireland, and a bit out of my usual choice of genera for reads, however I really did find this to be a well written and quick adventurous read. Mostly I would classify it in the fantasy category, but really what stood out most to me and grasped my attention the most was the paranormal side of the book.
We first meet Donny-Boy who is unsure of himself and knows that he is different from the rest of the boys his age. He has gotten used to hiding the fact that he can see things that he should not be seeing because it is not “real” or so his father and anyone else may say so. All of this changes for him when one day his ability is called to attention when the men of the town need it the most. “Welcome to the real-world Donny-Boy.” This soon transitions to another time where we meet the Heir of Aldrin, Izayik, eventually finding out that they are the same person. The book goes back and forth from the current to the past with Donny-Boy and the present to Izayik.
This is a coming of age story, and a bit of a making of a hero in my opinion. I really felt that the adventures, or battles, etc., that Izayik is involved with as he fights for his role as the true Heir and a Knight, were so vividly described that you felt as if you were sitting as an observer rather than a reader. This book really draws you in and makes you feel immersed in the action. It also had some great comedic parts to ease the book along as well.
I would say this is more geared towards a younger generation but was enjoyable still as an older adult. I would however, like to see what comes next in this series from LC Ireland.

I am giving “Fatal Heir” by L. C. Ireland a five out of five stars. I really enjoyed the many twists and turns that this book took. It made me feel a rollercoaster of emotions. I felt that I was a part of the story. I loved the dynamic of all of the characters and how they developed throughout the whole story.
I feel the author did an excellent job keeping the reader's attention. There were different hooks throughout the story that would grab a hold of the reader and keep their attention on the storyline. I never wanted to put the book down until I was finished.
I really liked how the author presented this book to the reader. She did an amazing job developing each of her characters, incorporating real-life aspects into a fictional story. It made the story feel more real to me.
After reading this book, I can not wait for the next book to come out in the following month. This book made me look forward to reading other books written by this author. I love the type of genre that this book is a part of. This book helps your imagination to run free and let's you visualize the many amazing adventures that take place. Everyone deserves to have a good adventure. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family.

Fatal Heir is a paranormal fantasy novel that centers around a boy named Don who is not what he seems or who he thinks he is. So many strange things have happened to him in his early life and he has been able to cheat death more than once with the help of the mysterious Man. While trying to prove The Man exists to his friends, Don jumps off the roof of his father’s barn and severely injures himself. This leads to even more questions about the Man and Don is determined to do whatever it takes to get answers.
This book is well developed, high fantasy and well worth the read. It has some similarities to the Game of Thrones series as well as Lord of the Rings and is suitable for children as well as adults. Anyone who enjoys high fantasy will be sucked in to this plot and find it difficult to put down. Some sections were so intense and fast paced that I felt like I couldn’t read fast enough to get to the next bit.
L. C. Ireland has done a remarkable job putting enough detail into her story that everything makes sense and you have plenty of background for characters and places but there isn’t an overloaded, unnecessary amount that you feel like you need to trudge through. I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

ONE OUTSTANDING BOMBSHELL!!!
Crap on toast! Ireland pegs all the magical wonders with this skillfully composed work of art, ratcheting up the exuberance and intensity, laying out one thrilling storyline and engaging plot, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Quirky mishaps and surprising happenstance, showcase the taxing trials and pulse racing tribulations, stumbling through the crazy twists and wicked turns, testing them in ways they never saw coming. Shenanigans, escapades and havoc rule the roost, as the drama, intrigue, turmoil, spiraling suspense and intense situations, along with a double dose of danger, you have one block busting adventure. Expending boundaries and crossing lines, displaying the strengths and weaknesses being weighed and balanced, kicking this gem into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, slamming it into overdrive, launching it into a frenzy with an eye-opening culmination. The characters are complex and authentic with qualities and traits that add depth transforming into relatable personalities. The scenes are written with such imagination and unique insight that gives you a vivid understanding and makes the storyline pop. Fabulous job guys, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Fatal Heir by L. C. Ireland is very different from what I thought it would be. And that is great!!! This book is a thinker. Ms. Ireland has given us a world where nothing is as it seems and everything is up for grabs.
Fatal Heir is not your typical fantasy. Ms. Ireland has written a fantasy where the hero is not necessarily what you would expect. She has woven a very fine web of a tale. It is well thought out and very interesting. Coming from me,this is high praise and I would very definitely recommend Fatal Heir.
Ms. Ireland is really great at creating believable characters. She has shown a lot of prowess in her ability to draw her audience in and keep them guessing. I must admit this book was hard to put down. So much that happened was unexpected. There is no predicting the plot in Fatal Heir. I really loved that. So often you know what will happen in the first quarter of the book. Not so in Fatal Heir. Ms. Ireland keeps you glued to her book and wondering right up to the very end. A truly good read and one I would highly recommend to anyone who likes to keep guessing right up to the end.

Here’s a fast paced fantasy adventure like no other I have read! Usually I don’t like stories with hard to pronounce names but L.C. Ireland gave these characters’ nicknames, making this story flow much easier! (at least for me!)

The story starts simple enough, a father sharing stories of the “boogey man” or as he called them, the undead. All in order or in hopes of, keeping his children in line. What that family doesn’t know is how true those stories are going to become, especially for the son, Don. Don can already see ghosts, so hearing his father’s stories puts him on edge.

Fatal Heir is filled with danger, mystery and wonder, with Don at the center of it all. Don, who we come to know as Izayik, or Izzy (see what I was saying about the name thing  ), learns that everything is not what it seems. He learns who to trust and what is real. He also learns to trust himself. With the help from some friends he should be able to save his people.

This is my first book by Ireland and hopefully won’t be my last. I am looking forward to reading more from this talented author. You won’t be sorry when you choose to read this book.

FATAL HEIR by L.C. IRELAND

Four Stars
I was surprised by this story. I didn’t know what to expect but I did enjoy what I read. The story revolves around Don a farmer who sees spirits. With his life constantly changing from bad to worse. He finds out that he is the heir of the Aldrin throne. He has people who come into the story to help him and some who come to destroy him. The cast of characters the author gave us made the story all the better. Their personalities varied and always had you wanting to know more. Some characters grow on you and others you want to forget. There weren’t many in this story I would forget. I love romance but I was glad that it wasn’t the main focus of the story. I liked reading about Don’s journey and his battle with clearing his name. The characters set out on an adventure and give you a view of the authors world. The story was well written and the descriptions of the places were perfect. Had me reading and picturing every scene as it played out. There was some random humor in this story and that was a bonus. The author did a wonderful job giving us something fresh and from a different prospective. Excited to read book two.

Fatal Heir by L.C Ireland is an incredibly written novel with fantasy and paranormal elements. I tend to get caught up in reading ruts and read the same genre over and over, this was a wonderful escape from reality with danger, excitement, and humor, several lines made me smile, if not chuckle out loud.
I think what stood out to me is that while some novels will have chapters that will leave your reeling, L.C Ireland could do that to me with just a well written line. Towards the beginning of the novel she hooked me with
“The dying trust you, boy. Your touch invites them to die. Now go!”, but as the story progressed, the writing became more and more gripping.
While each character we encountered throughout the novel has their own intricate story, the details were never overwhelming or confusing, something that did not go unnoticed for me. Along the same lines, I truly enjoyed the progression of Don’s character throughout the novel, from the beginning, to his discovery of self, to coping with that discovery, the plot was truly well done.
Fatal Heir by L.C Ireland was a fun, suspenseful escape from reality, and a 5 Star read along the way!

Fatal Heir is the first book in the Fatal series by L.C Ireland. It is a wonderful fantasy- which is full of action, adventure, magic, a little drama, and some funny moments. I loved this story- after reading the blurb I was intrigued but wasn’t sure if the author would be able to pull it off- I am so glad that I took a chance on this book because it not only lived up to the blurb, it eclipsed any and all of my expectations.
I followed Don as his story unfolded. This was a journey of discovery for him on many levels- his world, his life, and himself. I was completely engrossed, devouring the pages, sitting on the edge of my seat getting hit with twists and unexpected developments.
The story is really well written, with fully developed and quirky characters. There is a lot more to this story than first meets the eye, and I loved every word. This is a story of good vs evil with a great message woven through it. I am excited to see what Ms. Ireland has in store for us next!
I really recommend this incredible tale, I am sure you will love it just as much as I did!

Thank You, Ms. Ireland!

I give Fatal Heir by LC Ireland 5 stars.

This was an incredible book. It is fantasy meant for around a 10-18 age range, but adults will also love this book. I have been an adult for many years and this was so enjoyable to me. I literally could not put it down. It is a fantasy book that follows the story of Donald Baines. He has always been a bit different than everyone else, but he learns to keep it to himself. Then in his young adult years, events happen that forever change his life and shows him who he is meant to be.

This story reminded me a bit of Game of Thrones, but for young people. Like I said before, the story itself is amazing. Donald is such a good character too. He is just like most people, a bit cocky when he is younger, but he loves his family and has his own faults. The other characters in the book are done quite well too. They have many dimensions to them, you can understand why they are the way they are.

I highly recommend this book for young adult and adults alike that like fantasy. It is such a wonderful book.

Fatal Heir by L.C. Ireland is a fantasy/paranormal adventure. The story follows a young man who thought he understood his destiny to find out he was wrong. Everything he has known in his life is just a small bit to a puzzle. We follow him and his companions on a quest to change the world that they know.
The development of the characters are good and I enjoyed reading about Don's adventures but also watching him grow and develop as a person. He is naive and inexperienced in the beginning but learns he has a strength and knowledge that he did not know that he possessed. His companions also are interesting and grow as well throughout the story.
I enjoyed the story because it was not the same story line that I have read a million times. This story had some twists to some parts of the plot that made it new and different. Also the land that they are a part of is well described and can be imagined easily. I will be going back and reading the second book in this series to see where the story goes.

If you are a fan of fantasy and paranormal then this book is right up your ally. It was a great read and very quick or at least it was for me. The character dynamics and plot really helped the flow of the book. I think that one of the themes of “finding oneself” in a very common trait that we are all looking for. Sometimes the person we thought we were or who we were told we were supposed to be, just does not work out. The author did a great job of including some humor alongside all the seriousness going on so that no one format was overwhelming. I think that my nieces would love reading this book as they are 16, and the fact that it is fantasy will make it that much more compelling to them. The whole story you are following the main character and experience things as he does. I also love how well the author described everything so that you could really visualize the land and surroundings of the character. I do not feel as though this is only a young adult book, it is for anyone who loves to read fantasy/paranormal genre.

Fatal Heir by L.C. Ireland is the first book in her Fatal series. It is the story of a man who has known himself as Donald Banes for his entire life. As far as he knew he was an ordinary man with an unusual ability, he could see spirits. What he didn’t know was that he was in fact Izayik Delaren the heir to the throne of Aldrin. With his newfound kingdom over run with the undead it is up to him and his companions to find out why and put a stop to it.
I enjoyed this book even though I often find my mind tends to wander from time to time in a Fantasy type book, this book held my attention quite well and had me turning pages faster to see what happened next. I found the plot to be well thought out and the pacing to be well done. The charters are well planned and written in great detail making them come alive in your mind. This book takes you on an adventure for sure. Seeing Izayik grow as a character was definitely a fun experience. I give this book a four star rating and recommend it to any fan of Fantasy young or old.

Fatal Heir by LC Ireland is book 1 in the Fatal series. This is a fantasy paranormal book. The writing was such that I felt I was in the story. While I shy away from this genre I felt myself drawn to the story. The undead type of story has never really attracted my attention but I tried this one. I did have a slow start to this story and I’m still wondering what to feel about it. The writing in this story was awesome. The story itself made me wonder about what happens after one passes and if we really see the grim reaper. The author was able to get me to think outside the box. To me the story was a bit confusing but I think it was because of the names used but that does not deter from the story itself. I give this story a 4 star rating. While I personally probably won’t read this type of book again I’m glad I gave this book a chance. So much going on that it kept the book interesting.

Fatal Heir is the first book in the Fatal series by L.C. Ireland and is a fantasy paranormal story and an enjoyable read. This is the first book I've read by this author and I found her writing style easy and interesting characters as she took me into another world. This story has lots of mystery and suspense with lots of twists and turns. The characters were great and they will take you on an adventure with twist and turns here and there.

This story is about Don a young man whose life is suddenly turn upside down. Upon finding himself in trouble he finds out that he is not who he thought he was. When faced with evil he wants to put a stop to it and tries to make things right. Will he be able to stop the evil taking over the world? Will he be lured into the evil that haunts him? Will he find out exactly who he is?

If you like a good paranormal fantasy story the I recommend you read this book.

Fatal Heir by L.C. Ireland was an inventive and unique book. This book is full of the undead and spirits. Along with action there Is mystery and suspense. This book was unlike any books I have read previously. I enjoyed the writing and characters. When the synopsis talked spirits I was pretty sold. I really love books about people who can see spirits and stuff. They tend to be a favorite! I haven’t read many books where the lead character is a male so this was a neat change. I especially like how the lead character kind of handled everything thrown at him. Anyway I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading others! 4 star rating!

Fatal Heir by L.C. Ireland is a fantastic coming of age book! I loved that the main character was a male hero! It’s been awhile since I read a good book that had a male lead. He has to grow up gracefully while dealing with monsters that are gruesome! I can wait to read this to my boys when they are older!! I will definitely e following L.C Ireland in the future! 5 Star Read!
