Restitution

Rate this book
Restitution: The restoration of something lost or stolen to its proper owner.
Recompense for injury or loss.
The restoration of something to its original state.*

Agent Whitney Martin’s PERT (Paranormal Entity Research Team) has gone missing in western Illinois. Tom Braverman and PEEPs have been called in to assist in the recovery operation. They are pitted against a ghost so powerful, that he can manipulate both time and people. Within hours of their arrival, Audrey and Murphy disappear. Have they too fallen under the influence of the ghost? Are they part of the restitution the ghost wants so desperately to have?

With every situation, there is a resolution, but with every crime, there is a restitution that must be made. A memory vault containing Mia’s missing five years opens, and with it comes the recollection of crimes for which she finds herself accountable. She seeks the advice of a trusted friend, and together, they must stand before the demon court.

Mia has endured the changes brought upon her by her unstable genes. Can she be restored to what she once was, or will she be denied her restitution?
Come and join Mia, Murphy and PEEPs in the 17th “Haunted Series” novel. They’ve been waiting for you.

My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read.
Once upon a time…
I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads.
It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.

I think I'm done with this series. I've read every title in this series and used to love the PEEPs and their investigations, but this book, like the last few, was all over the place. Instead of devouring the book in a day or two, I had to force myself to finish it. New information about Mia's past comes out of *absolutely* nowhere, the dialogue is either wooden or trite, and all the events just happen one right after the other with no clear sense of a timeline. And for the love of all that is holy, I cannot stand the way all the men continue to drool over Mia, fueling Ted's insecurities despite Mia's constant reassurances. That whole mess plagues a good third of this book, and it makes all the male characters look weak and shallow. It's just become unbearable.

It seems to me that the author is more concerned about quickly churning out another book than writing a quality, cohesive story. The characters have become tedious, and the plots (both Mia's overall arc of transformation and the mini investigative plots) are too convoluted to be enjoyable.

I'd like to preface this review by saying that I truly love the characters in this series. And I've loved most of the books. Unfortunately, this one was a hot mess. It was basically a run-on series of vignettes instead of a solid story, with dialogue and themes being repeated over and over again. I'm almost positive a good publishing editor would have never let this out the door. It makes me wonder if the author is so eager to increase her output (the books in this series have been released at an unreal pace) that she's sacrificing quality for quantity. Everyone doesn't need to be on George R. R. Martin's timetable, but there's something to be said for making sure you're giving your craft its due.

Restitution is full of "Ah ha" moments. I hope the series continues to entertain the readers, it certainly is entertaining to write.

Many twists and turns for Mia and the PEEPs team.

Several interesting ghost stories along with more back story on Mia. We learn why she is who she is. I don't recommend this as a stand alone book, but if you're following the series it's great.

Not bad just different

I have enjoyed this series but almost didn't buy the book based on its reviews. While it is not your typical "ghost hunt" it does delve into the working and personal dynamics of PEEPS and their cohorts. New mysteries are explored and the immature finally mature. Mia's background and rediscovered talents are a little far-fetched but it helps create an entirely new and vastly different game-changing storyline. My only criticism is everyone and everything lusting after Mia.

A little different...

This book is a little different from the others but in a good way. We are finally figuring out who Mia is. Angels...I love it!
As always Ms. Aaron has written a magical book about people who are never boring. Her characters are believable and I can almost see them in my mind. The storyline is moving along and I really like it. Can't wait for the next read...

Loved it

This was the best!! I bought this book almost the minute it came out. In this one, we learn about Mia's past and what a life she had before PEEPS! You understand better why Mia is Mia. The author, Alexie Aaron comes up with the greatest ideas and plots. I cannot wait for the next book!

Better and better and better!

Once you start this series of books, you can't wait until the next book! You will wish the characters were real so you can be their best friends. I admit I usually buy cheaper books, but it was no problem buying each book in the series. Read and enjoy!

Another fabulous story

I love the characters and the multiple happenings per book. Instead of one "storyline" or "haunting" it encompasses so much more. As always I ended the book laughing

Not a favorite

Not Alexie's best work; definitely a difficult read. I did not enjoy this book and as a result, have lost interest.

This book couldn't decide if it was a gag worthy harlequin romance, or a scatterbrained paranormal book. No plot, mostly Ted and Mia having sex.

Mia is perpetually apologising for her past to her husband. She is unworthy and guilt ridden for very benign affairs in her youth, and keeps trying to make up for it. However, she dry humps Murphy, plays tounge with Mike, and flirts and makes out with her colleagues, and that's ok.
I don't want to read about Ted and Mias sex life. If you do, there's a scene of perfect sex about every fifth page between them.
Mias character is schizoid, the story, actually, their is no story this time, it's a montage of Mia trying to prove she's worthy of Ted (but he doesn't have to confess his past, nor does,he have to apologise for it. ) Ted and Mia having sex, and a demon here and there.
Horrible romance with some paranormal thrown in just to keep this book as part of the series.
