So no, this didn't really work for me as a distraction. Bearshifter, free copy + extra free chapter...I just grabbed it, greedy me.

It is a short story with a lot of elements I usually can appreciate (instaeverything, dorky heroine, sexy and sensitive shapeshifter) and it was sweet and fluffy with no real angst. It reads very easily and there were some parts that really made me smile, but the short length wasn't compensated by depth. Everything happens so fast, too fast, even for me. It's hard to feel convinced or invested. Mason was refreshing in his simplicity and care for others, his bear seemed sweet too but we only see him once, some of Joni's dorky moments were adorable and I liked the Hollywood setting, even if a bit cliché. It is not even particularly smutty, just one scene. As a quick read, it's very enjoyable, personally I missed backstory and more devolopment. I guess I'm still in the mood for heartwrenching stories.

Mason Maloney was a handsome bear shifter who was also a movie star. He is not live like most stars do. He does prefer a mansion, high priced meals, expensive cars, or hot women hanging all over him. Him and his bear loved the cabin in the woods, his old truck and a burger at a local dinner. He love using his money toward more needed things. He has a big heart and anyone would be lucky to have such a caring man.

Joni was what you would call a nerd. Not to many people would look her way. She was smart and had hopes of directing her own film one day. She had a huge crush on Mason Maloney. So when she got a job picking up trash at a movie set that Mason was going to be on, she could not pass it up.

You will love this story. It has some funny parts and some very touching parts. Trust me when I say that you will not be able to not fall in love with Mason and Joni. Yip things are going to get hot and heavy between the two. They are defiantly a perfect match.

Funny cute read, but I just kept getting distracted, by the fact this book was marked as a Multicultural& IR read. But who was it? Was it Joni, who was described as having dark hair? Or was it Mason? Who of course was a bear shifter. I really wanted to know what made it so?

I absolutely loved this terrifically heartwarming story about true mates Mason and Joni. This is one I'll read again and again.

'Starstruck Shifter' is the first book in the new Celebrity Bears series by Kim Fox and I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. Kim Fox is a new author to me so I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this short stand alone paranormal romance set in the movie business. It was fantastic! I was pulled into the story from the very first page, read it in one sitting and I absolutely loved it. This is not your typically average story about Hollywood and it has something which is truly unique and special. This is one of those books I'll be reading again and again.

Werebear Mason Maloney is an aging action movie star whose last film didn't do well at the box office and the one he's currently filming is a bad rehash that will probably go straight to DVD. He never wanted to be a film star but his shark-shifter agent and manager, Rick, persuaded him into it twenty years ago and now he needs the money. He's always lived a frugal lifestyle, but he has a wonderful secret he needs to keep going and it costs quite a bit. Enter Joni Meyer, film school graduate, nerd, Mason's true mate and all time number one fan. She's working as an intern on his current film, Mercy Killing 4, and has such a low opinion of it that even she might not pay to see it. Then everything falls apart....

I could go on and on about this truly fantastic story filled with humour as well as sadness and heartbreak, but not in the way you may think, a cast of wonderfully eccentric characters, a bumbling and accident prone heroine with a brain, a true hero with a heart of gold who loves her, a cross-bow, a collapsed roof, and a screenplay that saves the day for everyone, especially..... No, I'm not going to give any spoilers. You have got to read this terrific book. It made me laugh out loud, cry a few tears and left me with a smile on my face. This is one author I will definitely be reading again and I'll look forward to more in this series with relish. 5 very well earned stars. I really wish I could give it more.

Mason is a gorgeous aging action star that is seeing his career falter due to the type of jobs he is being offered ,no one seems to think he can do anything serious. He is so different from the main stream Hollywood type he lives in a cabin in the woods to please his bear, drives a 20 plus year old pickup truck, and the majority of his money goes to hones he has set up for homeless shifter children that must remain a secret. He wants a mate but has almost given up that he will ever find the right woman. Once again he finds himself filming the fourth sequel to his former action series hit and is putting up with his shark shifting manager nagging at him to buy a mansion that he doesn't want and date his silicone barbie doll co-star Gisella to get him back in the headlines. And then he sees her Joni long dark hair, big black glasses and a cute little body to match and he feels and his bear feel immediately drawn to her, she is the one.
Joni is a recent graduate from film school and landed a job as an intern on set of her favorite action stars latest movie she is excited of course she didn't expect to be the garbage girl on the set but she consoles herself with the fact she can catch glimpses of Mason Maloney. While day dreaming that she gets to rescue the film by being the only one capable of stepping in and directing once the original director is unable to continue she is stung by a wasp and meets Mason Maloney is person and that is when the sparks start to fly. Joni finds herself uncontrollably attracted to him, but she believes there is no way that he could be attracted to a scrawny, dark haired nerd who wears big black glasses. Mason is determined to spend more time with Joni and invites her into his trailer to read lines, there she also starts to fix the script out of habit, Mason realizes her has a real talent and wants her to help him fix more of the lines. Of course the outside world interrupts and Joni runs back out of the trailer, but Mason is not deterred he will find a way to spend more time with his mate and woo her, of course the first thing he must do is manage to survive a one night day with Gisella his co-star to please his manager. Find a nice quiet comfy spot and hang on for the twists and turns as Mason pursues his mate while trying to keep his career a float and his secret hidden. This is an absolute must read!!!! I love the depth to Mason and Joni their story is heartwarming with wonderful unexpected surprises.

I laughed a lot with this Bear Shifter book the heroine had a way with talking. Lol Snapple lol have to remember that when I'm ready to cuss in front of my grandkids. This is a completely different shifter book from any other I've read. Just a little romantic tale, Loved it, was very refreshing.
Mason Maloney is a Bear Shifter and a Hollywood Actor who has had several flopped films. Of course you know hollywood once you start aging unless your a sought-after actor you do commercials or nothing. And Mason was not sought-after anymore and he needed money, he was broke but he still had a lot of responsibilities to take care of. Than he saw her, so beautiful! After waiting all these years, finally she's here.
Joni Meyer was a fresh out of college graduate for film director it is her passion because that's what she wants to be. Joni was so excited when they hired her on the set of Mason's movie but than they gave her a garbage bag and told her to go around the set picking up cans and bottles. This is what she went to college for?? Than there he was bigger than life and he's talking to me. Mason Maloney asked me for help, Ohhh yes i'll help!!!! I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

This is the first book in the Celebrity Bears series. They are each stand-alone and can be read in any order.

Adorably cheesy. Holy peach Snapple!

This was a completely different shifter story. The hunky, heavenly, drool-worthy, shifter….. oh, where was I – sorry, got lost in my daydream for a minute…. So, this time, the shifter doesn’t need to rescue our damsel-in-distress heroine. Instead the ____ need help; yea, I don’t want to give it away. I’ll just say this – if you’re in the mood for something a little lighter, a little funny, a little smexy, and a little sweet, then I highly recommend this quick and easy read.

I loved the juxtaposition of Joni and Mason’s places in their careers. Joni is at the beginning of her career – young, eager, doing the dirty work just to get her foot in the door. Mason is threatened with the thought of being a has-been and just as eager to accomplish what needs to be done for the sake of ____ (there I go almost giving it away!). I had a special affinity for Joni and her love of an older man, since I’ve always preferred them that way. Isn’t she lucky that the man who was once her teenage crush is ready for her when she is finally of a proper age, fresh out of college?

This is the first book I have read from Kim Fox. I do not want it to be my last.

Starstruck Shifter was the first book I read by Kim Fox, and I am so glad that I found this author. This was story had it all, it was humor filled, creative, and had romance. This was such a great story, the only thought in my mind after I read the last word was “that was soo cute.” I loved it.

Mason is a 40 year old on the outs action star. He hasn’t been in a decent movie in a while, but he has responsibilities that need to be taken care of so he tries to reboot his image. Joni is a recent graduate with a film degree, that has taken on a job as an intern/recycling garbage picker upper. She has idolized Mason for years, and can’t believe that he wants anything to do with her, even after he spoke to her post bee sting. He becomes determined to convince Joni that he is interested to her after the set is shut down he invites her to his home in the woods. He has a couple of secrets that he hides from the rest of the world, but since Joni is his mate he doesn’t keep them from her, and she loves everything about him. I love how she reacts to everything, she is always so upbeat and how can you not love the big bear? I loved the chemistry between Joni and Mason, they brought out the best in each other and it always leaves you with a smile on your face. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a happy, light hearted read. The HEA leaves you satisfied with a preview into the future.

A fast fun read and thoroughly enjoyable. :) Loved it. :)

It’s about Joni, who is starstruck by an actor, an intern working on set as a rubbish collector. She’s a behind the scenes critic of the actors works and secret admirer in her own time.

Mason is the actor, older, running out of hit movies to keep his career up on top. The current project is not doing so well and his leading lady needs a clip round the ear! :) She’s not fit anything, let alone acting, but so much fun. :)

Mason spots Joni and is drawn to her, wanting to get close but foiled until she get’s stung and he comes to her ‘rescue’ removing it. He knows she is his mate and Joni thinks he’ll never see her as anything other than the ‘intern’ on set.

Turns out she’s good at re-writes and helps Mason and the Director out with many and role playing. The leading lady catches them together and has a tantrum, but you learn she has no interest in Mason, other that furthering her career and making an X jealous.

It was fun and loved the growing relationship between Mason and Joni. Even when she meets his Bear. So cute. After nearly killing him as he's making pancakes, it was funny in so many ways. :)

Everything works out well and Mason gets to actually film Joni’s story, taking him back into the limelight and helping those lovely kids he supports; you need to read the book to find out more, but it does have that HEA we all love in Shifter stories. So go grab you copy and the next one to follow. :)

This is about Werebear Mason Maloney an aging action movie star whose last film didn't do well at the box office and this one probably won't either. Joni Meyer a human is new intern on Mason's film, the job is nothing like what she expected it to be she is collecting bottles and cans. She is just happy to be near her idol. When Joni gets stung by a wasp Mason takes her into his trailer to be looked, while she is there she sees the script and knows that it is no good, Joni and Mason start work on changing it. Gisella is a real bitch and Mason's co-star she warns Joni away from Mason. But Mason wants Joni and they spend the night at his home, going over the script and spending the night together. While at Mason's he gets a phone call that he is needed at a home for misplaced shifter children they go and while Mason is looking at the damage to the home Joni is calming the children down. John the director the next day has a temper trantrum and destroys most of the set he is arrested and Joni after some talking gets to make a movie with her script. What happens to Mason Joni Gisella and the children? I was given a copy for an honest review, barwatts@telus.net I hope there is another one to this one !

Holy Snapple!!! Kim Fox does it again. Just when you think she can't do any better after reading her Smokejumpers, she comes out with another AWESOME book.

Mason is not only a bear shifter, but he is a middle aged actor trying to make a go of a movie he knows is doomed from the beginning.

Joni is a quirky human girl trying to become a well known director. instead she is given the lowly task of picking up trash. She d ok want seem to mind because it puts her close to Mason.

Mason she's the quirky girl in her big rimmed glasses and realizes there is more to her than meets the eye, and he knows she is more to him than just a friend. After unexplained events Joni has a few words with the leading actress of the film causing her to quit. Your going to have to read the book to find out why Kim Fox is good at her writing!!!!!!

This book not only shows that Kim Fox knows what her readers want, but it also shows her uncanny ability to keep them reading. Read this book and I promise you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this book to any body wanting to laugh, cry, and fall in love all at once!

when it comes to the filmindustry, if you don't have an ace film out , your star starts to dim a little. we find mason filming a mediocre cookiecutter film. his PR man wants him to pretend to have a fling with the obnoxious co-star. he goes along but only reluctantly.
it's that his attention fell onto Joni. tho her studies should get her an in into the film buisiness, all she's able to get is picking up garbage. mooning over mason her second hobby. it becomes a bit more real when he comes to her aid when she's stung by a bee. she's a bit starstruck but also not sure what to make of it. she feels some kind of attraction but mason doesn't act like it, especially when she sees pictures of him smooching with his co-star.
it's then the story gets interesting because mason isn't prepared to let her go just yet. his bear is too invested in her.
it's a sweet story with nice twists and turns, two people getting to know each other and making that all important bond for life.
it's a short read that will leave you fulfilled and happy. a must read

You will so love this story!. The characters are amazing!.
Werebear Mason is an action movie star that is on the tail end of his career. His agent is after him to change his life up by buying a mansion or dating a young woman to make him look more appealing. His agent suggests Mason date his co-star airhead Gisella. Only Mason wants more he wants his fated mate. While waiting to go on set he spots a young woman that makes his bear sit up and take notice!. She is not a bomb shell like Gisella not is is kind of dorky lol.
Joni is an intern with the filming company she is dorky and spunky. She hopes to be a famous director one day. Plus she has had a crush on Mason forever!. Joni will crack you up she is so cute, sweet, dorky and oh so funny!. Mason is sweet, charming, kind of shy and all around adorable!. This two make such an awesome couple!. But will their chances get blown when Mason's agent lines him up a date with the bombshell Gisella with all kinds of Paparazzi around!.
You will love this Sweet,Charming, Funny, Exciting and Steamy hot romance!. It is a must read 5-star plus shifter Romance!!.

Mason Maloney the action star was losing popularity. He was getting old and his films were not as before. But he had very serious responsibilities. He was a bear shifter and in charge of a hundred bear shifters orphans so he had to keep on. Joni was an intern in the studio and she had a crush for Mason. She was the nerdy type with few physical attributes and not taken seriously by the crew. When Mason met her his bear recognized Joni as his mate. Will Joni accept Mason? I enjoyed very much this story that was entertaining, amusing (laughed a lot with Joni comments) and had a sensitive issue as it is the orphans and their needs. Joni character was special, with a good disposition and vitality. Mason had been an orphan himself and had suffer the lack of someone to take care of him as a child so, he had a deep commitment with the orphan shifters that were doubly rejected. Liked how the author entwined the funny situations with the orphan issue and the outcome of the movie project. Received the ARC for an honest review.

Enjoyable the 'Ugly Duckling' meets the 'Handsome Bear' Love the fun and perkiness in this story unlike the darkness I'm used to. Very good change...I still like the other type of shifter stories, but haven't read one like this in a while and I enjoyed it.

Mason Maloney is a bear shifter nearing the end of his acting career and thoughts of ever meeting a mate to grow old with don't even cross his mind.

And Mason can have the pick of the movie lots, but they don't rock his boat at all. Then he sees a goofy looking girl and thinks, "she is the most beautiful girl in the whole wide world"

Jodi has always had a crush on Mason Maloney, action star since she was a teenager and now she is picking up garbage on the set of his latest movie... She can dream can't she? After all Mason Maloney would never take a second look at a nerd like her, she doesn't even have boobs!

I guess being stung by a bee has it's perks, makes all the silliness emerge.

Mason Maloney is an older action movie star. He wants more out of life than poorly scripted movie roles and empty-headed co-stars. Joni Meyer is a newly graduated film student working as an intern on a movie set. Joni’s entry level job as a recycler/garbage girl allows her to meet her long time crush, Mason Maloney. They meet when Joni is stung by a wasp and Mason is smitten. These two are an unlikely pairing that somehow works. This book is hilarious. Joni is quirky and her references to Snapple are cute.
Mason is not your typical Hollywood star; he is actually a bear shifter that lives in a cabin. He supports orphanages with his earnings. He drives a 20+ year old pickup truck.
Joni, is a quirky and accident prone young lady. There is an incident when Joni takes a bow off the wall in Mason home and accidentally shoots him.
Throw in a shark shifter agent for Mason and you have a fun book that is pure escapism. Great start to a new series.

Fun, Furry Romance.

Joni is an intern working on her first film set, as head of recycling. Her lifelong crush just happens to be the main star of the movie.
Hoping for a glimpse of him as she swoons past his trailer as she picking up litter.

Mason Maloney, is an action star, who is getting less and less work offers as he gets older. Unlike other big screen stars, he prefers hs quiet cabin in the woods, he's not really into the mega parties and limelight.

His agent is pushing him to buy a big statement mansion and date his Co star. In order to help his career with publicity from the media.
His human side is pushed towards dating Gisella his hot popular Co star. He needs to keep the film running smoothly, in order to get the bills paid.

There's alot of people relying on this film being a success. But with his Bear being strongly attracted to the new intern there's alot of pressure added to his decisions.

Mason is a movie star whose fame is fading far too fast for his taste, and he's trying to hold on to it as tightly as he possibly can. His agent is trying to help him save his career by trying to push him into dating his hot co-star to boost publicity, but Mason has other plans when he meets the new intern, Joni.

Joni, as it turns out, has had a crush on Mason for... well, ever. It's a dream come true, provided she can believe that it's actually real. Not only does Mason have to try to prove he's genuinely interested in her, but he might have to make a difficult decision, because there's something very important to Mason that's depended on the success of his new movie.

You'll have to read for yourself to see what happens. But if you enjoy a good shifter romance, with humor, no cliffhanger and a HEA, then you should definitely check it out.

Joni is absolutely the most enduring, adorable love interest I've ever read about. Mason is drawn to this klutzy nerd from first glance—over his co-star's mountainous boobs. Not only does Joni have a flat front, the back is pretty nonexistent as well. Not your usual choice for a sexy bear shifter. But what his bear wants is what he wants and that's trash pick up intern Joni. Mason hates making the reshash movies and his career is going down hill, he'd retire except he has a real reason for putting up with whatever it takes.

Read the touching story with your a-typical leading lady (at least in his personal life) Their romance is as predictable as she is his choice. Get the chap stick out cause your going to need it to keep your unending smile from cracking from page one to the last.

A real feel good story I recommend.

If you need a great laugh, this is the book for you. Joni is a quirky nerd and Mason an aging action star. Their interactions are hilarious!!! Mason is a bear shifter, his agent is a shark - a shark shifter that is. Joni is a Community College graduate who writes and is looking for a chance to direct, but winds up collecting garbage on the film set for Mason's latest movie. Mason wants to stop making these bomb movies and just wander the woods in his bear skin and keep his shifter orphanages above water. Joni isn't Mason's type but the Bear knows its mate. Now how to tell her that he is bear shifter? While they try to keep the movie going. The interaction between these two will keep you chuckling from start to finish. Reading this in public will have people looking at you oddly as you laugh out loud. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Aging action star and bear shifter, Mason, finds himself at a crossroad in his career where he is no longer the box office draw that he once was; yet, he isn't able to walk away from Hollywood because he needs the salary from his movies to keep a group of orphanages he sponsors up and running. Right when he is ready to give into the demands of his agent to become more star like so that he can revamp his industry draw, Mason meets his mate Joni who is a would be director and set trash collector. The two click, and the ensuring story leaps off the page pulling you in with its fun mixed with just the right amount of cheesy dialogue. The characters radiate from the page, and their world is an amusing place to visit.
This book is a wonderful opening to Kim Fox's Celebrity Bears series, and I look forward to reading the other titles as they are released.

This is a wacky opener to the new Celebrity Bears Series by Kim Fox, author of the Smoke Jumpers Werebear series. A quick read, it is an easy way to lighten up a day, because it doesn't take anything too seriously. If the next book is anything like this one, Kim will have another winning series on her hands.
Mason Maloney is an aging action star who's lost his A-lister status, no longer pulling in prime roles. His bear has started pushing him toward finding a mate and settling down. Little does he know it would be a community college film graduate, Joni Meyer, working on set in 'recycling' who would snag his bear's attention. But little Joni is so much more than "Trash Girl" and she turns it all upside down.

Mason Maloney is an action star getting past his prime. He is also a Bear shifter. Even though he would rather retire to his cabin in the woods, he has commitments that mean he must make this new (awful ) movie a success.
Joni is film school graduate, working on a proper movie set for the first time. She is so excited that the star of the film is her all time hero.
This book is a lot of fun. Our wonderful hero is feeling down until he spots a beautiful young woman across the set. Joni is nothing like all the Hollywood starlets. She has to rely on her brain. She has of course like nearly everybody in Hollywood written her own movie script.
Lots of great new characters for us to fall in love with. I can't wait to read the next in this new series.

Honestly I loved this but the story was not enough. There was not enough time for the characters or relationships to develop. No action with being a shifter whatsoever! Basically he shows her that he's a bear and they are in love. *sigh* So much potential because I love Joni and Mason! I feel like this book definitely could use a second one.

Mason is a bear shifter. As an actor his star isn't shining as bright as it used to. He isn't as young as he used to be and he doesn't play the fame game either...living in a mansion, dating starlets and feeding the press stories. He just wants to live in his cabin in the woods and support his kids.

Joni is an intern on the set of Mason's latest film. She has just graduated from film school and is thrilled to be on a set with Mason, whom she has has a crush on since she was a child. When Mason sees Joni, he and his bear are both interested. It isn't easy to get to know her with his agent pushing him to take his obnoxious co-star out for the publicity.

Will Mason and Joni get together? Will her human accept his bear?

Mason has a special place all his money goes and it is given with all his heart. He really is a good man whose bear is craving a mate. Joni didn't feel as developed to me. At first I wasn't sure if she wanted to be with Mason because of her old crush or for Mason the man. She was also very accepting of Mason being a shifter and I don't know what the social attitude was about shifters; in some books it is clearly stated that shifters are recognized.

The things I did like about this couple was how when they got together it felt like they were always together. I like how Joni involved herself with the kids without any hesitation. I also like Joni the film writer/director and Mason the film writer/actor worked together. They enhance each others career.

This is a novella, a faster read. I would read more form this author.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this story, it was hilarious. Mason Maloney is a were-bear and an actor. He is the shifter version of Bruce Willis with his action movies with the same title. Mason had been in the business for awhile, he made a ton of money,but refused to let Hollywood change him. Mason is more comfortable with the simple life of a shifter, than Hollywood's leading man. Mason is getting older and the roles are few and far between and not paying as much, but he takes it because he needs the money. Out of the kindness of his heart and personal experience, Mason opens up shelters for abandoned shifter kids. He needs the money from this latest film to make repairs and provide for the children. His agent is trying to convince Mason he needs to get out in Hollywood to get noticed and suggests that Mason go out with his young co-star and purchase a mansion.
Joni Meyer is a recent graduate of film school and lands a job as an intern. In Joni's case that means picking up trash. Great.Joni is assigned trash duty with a guy named, Garth whose goal is to be crowned the king of recycling. Again, great. Joni is also obsessed with Mason Maloney, ever since she was a teenager. After stalking around Mason's trailer she is stung by a wasp and Mason comes to her aid. The movie director comes in with more rewrites to the script and Joni helps Mason with his lines. They both agree the script sucks,try their own re-writing out, Joni admits she wrote her own, and Mason believes he has found his mate. Very enjoyable story that is full of laughs.

Cheeky, but sweet

This is a very quick read, but it is fun and sweet. Mason is no ordinary movie star, he is a bear shifter. He is also struggling with his career, he needs to revamp his image according to his agent. Will a Hollywood starlet be what he needs? He desires a mate, but doesn't think his co-star is it, but he agrees to a date for his agent. However, then he meets the lowly intern, Joni, suddenly he desires someone more than he ever had.
Joni just graduated from film school and has been hired as an intern on Mason Maloney's movie. A man she has crushed on since puberty. Now she was working on his movie, picking up trash. Wow wasn't she lucky. Until, she is stung by a wasp and Mason comes to help her. He asks her to come in and run lines and she almost gets to kiss him if she wasn't interrupted. However, then she wakes up to Mason kissing his co-star all over the tabloids. What was she thinking that she could win over a movie star?
Mason realizes he needs to make Joni understand that nothing happened between his co-star. He wants Joni and nothing else. But what is he going to do? Can he win her over? What happens when the orphanage he supports needs him and his money, but the movie is going to be shut down and he won't get a paycheck? What will happen?
This short story packs a lot into it. It is sweet, funny and an enjoyable read. Read in an afternoon and it was a fun read.
