The long awaited continuation of Zombie Fallout and Talbot's comedy of errors that is his life continues. While I thoroughly enjoyed this installment, it is a bit darker than the previous ones. But it is still Michael Talbot and there are enough laughs, chuckles and tears to keep every Talbot/Tufo fan happy. The Eliza saga is over which led to the Demense group and the wild ride that left us breathless. But it was all a prelude for what was to come. ZF9 is the beginning of another twist in the life, past, present and future of Michael Talbot. At the end of ZF8 we get a glimpse of Payne, Charity and Sofia, the three vamps that are determined to learn who is responsible for Eliza's death. Do they care, no but they are curious and three curious vamps are three too many. (possible spoilers) They arrive and humanity, what is left of it, will tremble once again. The Talbot clan has regrouped and do what they do best, survive. But not without a serious confrontation that will leave everyone reeling on so many levels. However we do see the beginning of another twist in the Talbot saga, a small hint of what is to come. If you've been following our intrepid hero then you will immediately know as he is reminded of other realities and perhaps a glimpse of what the future holds for him. New players are slowly introduced that will undoubtedly reveal more but for now all we can do is wait for the next installment to learn more about the mystery that is Michael Talbot.

*I received a free copy of this audio book for review from Audiobookreviewer.com*

Having escaped the facility where the tainted flu shots were created, and after evading the clutches of Deneaux in the last volume; the Talbots are reunited at Ron’s. There is some happiness and, sadly, some heartache. Mike notices Tommy is acting strange and soon he finds out why. There are some vampires coming to investigate Eliza’s death, and they are close. Now, the family is planning for the worst, buffing up defenses, finding a fallback position, and of course, getting into trouble at every turn. To make matters more complicated, Mike hears a familiar voice over the radio asking for help. A voice they all thought long gone.

Sean Runnette nailed it again as Mike, BT, Tripp, and the rest of the Talbot gang. I have mentioned it before; he is these characters, plain and simple. He reads the inflections seemingly perfect, and understands all the humor almost as if he himself wrote it. The man has great range; all character is easily distinguishable, his female voices are just as good as his male voices, and he reads with feeling. Zombie Fallout is my only real experience with Runnette; now that I am all caught up on the series I look forward to trying some of his other works, most likely Hemlock Grove.

This book had a different feel than the rest. You could tell the characters were tired, worn, and scarred. The tone of the novel was more morose; as if you were attending the wake of someone close, with loved ones sharing stories and you hear soft laughter and soft sobbing at the memories. and it felt like it should. It’s book nine of the Zombie Fallout series and there has been death and despair in spades throughout, and the characters show it; their interactions are all a little shorter and sharper, tempers are thin and stress is abundant. That’s not the say the book felt different all together, not at all. You still get all the banter you’ve come to enjoy in Tufo’s writing, the development of the “smart zombies” that have been coming to light over the last couple of books, and the same heartfelt emotion that has me cemented as a fan. However, there does seem to be less of the dark humor from his earlier books, which suits the story’s progression perfectly and makes the world Mark has built all the more engrossing. It’s packed with intense moments, funny moments, emotional moments, and moments that may even make you take pause. Mark Tufo has written a very good series with a great cast of characters. This is a good addition to the story, adapting the story to an ever changing world, all while keeping the core of what made it so good to begin with.

Great installment in the Zombie Fallout series!

Family drama is front and centre as Ron and Mike square off. Wow, the things that come out of Ron’s mouth might have irreversible consequences. That was brutal.

Two new additions to the group, and I’m hopeful this gives Justin the will that he needs.

Mrs. Deneaux was mysteriously absent, but I’m sure she’ll be back like the cockroach that she is.

Memorable quote (Tracy to Mike):

“The storm doesn’t follow you. You are the storm.”

Sean Runnette is so perfect for this series. Please, please, please don’t change narrators.

Tattered Remnants - Zombie Fallout 9

Tattered Remnants is just a tattered push of words into a book with a lot of jumping around. Zombie Fallout 9 Falls short for the series to me. Three new characters and a big event happens to one of them. But along comes another throw away character.

Don't expect a lot out of it, and I won't turn this into a spoiler alert, instead I'll just let you know it is important to read if you are going through the series. The voice is still the same but the editing issues are there as well.

The story has some marrot, but there is a lot of build up and character movement with a few of the players who really don't have much to do with the story. We don't need to know why John is driving around in a motor home. Well, we don't need to have a whole back story if he is only around for a few chapters. And just a little bit will do it, maybe mentioning in passing why he is driving about.

You need to pay particular attention to what is happening with all the small stuff, like how fast the vampires are supposed to be and why they are captured or injured. Remember in the sixth book when they killed Eliza? Keep that in mind when you read this book for you will wonder about their speed and healing power.

All the major players are there for you to enjoy, but other things will happen. To keep things real, Mike does a lot of retrospect to drive the hilarity going and the banter of the characters. For some reason it really works but at times it gets a little trying. Then again, BT is easy enough to poke at if you just try a little.

Michael Talbot must be jinxed.... unlucky(?) or a very lucky man. Bad stuff happens around him & to him. But keep close by and you may come out of the situation alive... bruised yes, but alive. In typical Tufo fashion the book is excellent. Please read the books in order to get the full benefit of what this series has to offer. You can read it without the previous books and enjoy it ...but why would you do that. The sarcasm is fabulous ... the comradery great. & your heart does break a few times. Of course there are zombies & vampires. Someone wants the Talbot's died as usual. Then there are those who randomly kill everyone. The vampires have no use of the humans except as a food source. Oh wait, isn't that what the zombies want humans for too? There is family & friend conflict ... action .... a lot of action. New friends come into their lives and some old ones leave. The book keeps you guessing. And since this is the 9th book in the series you can kinda guess when the footholds for something new is being set up. Not all questions will be answered in this book. However, you don't finish the book and say "what". Like all books in a series there is always something that will make you want to read the next book. This one is no different. I got so involved in the story I couldn't put it down.

I adore all of Mark's work, and Sean is an exceptional narrator! This story picks up where the other left off almost and we learn who was eaten by the zombie in the house and a few other unanswered things....and just as we think Eliza can no longer cause any problems,,,more pop up because of her...we knew it was coming....there is a lot of loss in this book and new dangers around every corner...Well written and super well narrated this is another winner indeed!!!

2 THUMBS UP!!!

Just as great a 2nd time!!! Caught some things I missed even!! Bravo!!!

3rd time and I loved it...giggling greatness and heartfelt awesomeness!!

Book 9 and I'm still loving this series

Tufo created something special when he landed on the Michael Talbot character. The entertainment factor is high with each and every book. I'm a fan of sagas and I think the ZF series is officially a saga, a super entertaining saga. Fun and engaging with a few surprises thrown in.

Wow...so much story progress and development in this one. Another great read! After escaping the Dimensi building, they return to the Talbot household fort where they prepare for the coming of the three vampires Payne, Charity and the other one. Two new babies, the death of a close friend and being joint by a new character in Tiffany, the adventure, action and humour continue.

The Talbot clan continues to fight the supernatural. It was a fun read but more comfortable than exciting. The dialog and BT are truly the reason this particular entry moved along.

Yeah! Another awesome story with BT, Mike, Henry and a couple other new guests.. :)! A lot of sad stuff happened and again Mike is faced with new enemies. The zombies are getting smarter? Or aren't they? I am wondering who is special like Mike.. and talks to God. Hilariously funny too by the way! I just love how Mark Tufo can add life insights, humor, joy and tragedy.. and zombies/vampires into one really great series! I look forward to every new book and they always live up to my expectation! Love the added Lost Chapters too! Explained the ending much better.. cuz I was originally like.. what, who, when, why.. did this just happen!!

In this volume, Mike's family and friends are introduced to 3 European vampires who want to see how and who led to Eliza's death. Slaughtering their way to Maine, they demonstrate atrocities rivalling Eliza's reign of terror amidst the continued evolution of the zombies who grow more intelligent each day.

The Talbot stronghold can only take so much but with great loss comes new life. This was a very Mike and crew heavy book and has one of the most scathing rants from Ron to Mike which absolutely resonates and Mike's rebuttal is legendary. That is easily one of my favorite scenes in the series.

I have been enjoying this series for quite a while now. Tufo is such a gifted writer, and this book gripped my attention just as the last eight did. I'm very curious about Tommy and what he can see. Henry understanding some stuff he shouldn't is also curious.

Can't help but love these books

I have loved reading these books and couldn't wait each time when one ends to start the next book but now I'm just about to start the last one and I'm getting a bit disappointed that they are going to be coming to the end and will miss Mike Talbot and his family.

Still Going Strong

Episode 9 of Mike Talbots life journey is every bit as good as the ones before. Huge battles, death, loss, survival and family are in every page. Along with sarcasm, gutter humour and supernatural events. I enjoyed every single page, even when I cried. I’m still Team Mike!

One down, two to go!

Life for the Talbot clan (and friends) never ceases to amaze me. Just when you think they can catch their breath, things go completely sideways, upside down, inside out…you catch my drift here.
Payne, Charity, ziggurat, and you just know Vivian is going to pop back up…
On to the next chapter in the saga!

Felt too jumbled up... Too many side characters, too many missing chapters that all show up at the end...

The story is confusing because of it. Even now that I've finished I'm not really sure what happened...

One of my Favorites
Outrageous, full of adventure, and crazy. This is one of my favorites in the series so far and I love the entire series and the Book of Riley spin-off. I look forward to trying all of the others and am excited to start the next book in the series. I am addicted to this one.
