TEXAS HAVEN by Kathleen Ball

Burke is a rancher trying to save his ranch after a costly, both financial and emotional, divorce. He is looking for a wife, but he has sworn that in any future relationship, he will give everything but his heart. Annie is a shy and timid young lady who has had a lifetime of abuse, both physical and emotional, at the hands of her step-father and step-brother.

Annie and Burke meet while Annie is checking out her step-brother's latest acquisition.... a ranch. A ranch that was once part of Burke's ranch before he lost it in the divorce settlement. He had no idea that his ex had sold it.

As Annie and Burke's attraction grows, Burke proposes to Annie (to get his wife). A short time after the wedding, Burke's Ex-wife Alice swoops back to the ranch determined to break up the marriage. Through lies, manipulation and subterfuge.... any means possible. Sometimes I wanted to smack Burke from head to toe for being an idiot!!! Then Annie makes a huge discovery that will change her life forever.

Will Annie and Burke be able to realize their true feelings for each other and survive Alice's agenda?

The first couple chapters seemed a bit disjointed leading up to Annie and Burke getting married but the rest of the book was amazing! I Loved it!!

Ally overhears some conversations regarding Matt and wonders about his past. What is he hiding?
Then tragedy strikes and Ally's Dad is hurt and Matt surprises her with some of his medical knowledge, taking over and issuing directions as they wait for an ambulance. Ally confronts Matt about his past which causes a huge rift in their relationship. Will past hurts and guilt be too much for them to work through?

I have only had a chance to read Take Me Home, Cowboy in this box set. It is the first book I had ever had the pleasure of reading by Krista Ames. I have read more of her work since then and she is awesome. I am sure all the books in this box set are just as awesome as Krista Ames' Take Me Home, Cowboy. The rest of the box set is on my list to read soon but I wanted to share my thoughts with you on the one I have read.

I absolutely loved Take Me Home, Cowboy. It had my attention captured on the first page. Krista Ames did a fabulous job of putting together a great contemporary western romance.

When Ally Kincaid goes home to see her father she meets the handsome new foreman. I loved Ally she is a country girl born and raised but has moved to the city. This girl is full of spunk and has no problem speaking what is on her mind. This gets her in trouble a few times but handsome cowboy Matt Gentry finds her so hot he forgives her pretty quick. The steam and sparks between these two is HOT.

Matt Gentry is one HOT cowboy with a past he is trying to deal with. Things have happened in Matt's past that he feels guilty about, so he's not real forth coming with his past. This presents some problem with his relationship with Ally. Matt thinks once Ally knows about his past he'll lose her.

Ally & Matt have an instant attraction that neither is sure should be there. Ally doesn't trust Matt with a past he doesn't want to talk about & he's her Dad's foreman. Matt doesn't want to get into a relationship with the boss's daughter. They just can't deny the attraction though. I really enjoyed watching these two spar and then make up.

I love a good western cowboy romance with some hot loves scenes. How can you possibly go wrong with a HOT cowboy? I would highly recommend this book to all the western romance fans out there. I think you will enjoy it, I know I did.

Now there is a WHOLE box set of cowboys. Oh my! I can not wait to get this box set to the top of my to be read pile

I was give the opportunity to read Take Me Home, Cowboy so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

This review is for Until You Fall In Love by Lyssa Layne

There are certain moments when you read a book and it makes your heart beat a little faster. This book is one of the books that did it to me. I loved this book and the characters of Abram and Jordan and wish I could find someone like Abram!

Jordan Glastetter is a single mom to son R.J. and raising him with her best friend Abram Tomko. Jordan is battling with herself in wondering if she is asking Abram to give up too much of himself to help her and her son out.

What do you do if there is a possibility of loving your best friend yet if they don't feel the same you risk losing that friendship? It is such a fine line as it is a tough thing to risk.

There is so much emotion in this book and I was so excited that Mia and Tate James make an appearance or two in this book!! This book is such a great read and definitely tore at my emotions!!

Texas Haven by Kathleen Ball

Annie Douglas is trying to escape New York after catching her fiance in bed with her best friend and goes to Weltworth, Texas to look at some property that her brother Sonny just bought.

Burke Dawson is trying to keep his ranch afloat and is shocked that his ex-wife Alice sold half of his families property to Sonny. But Burke is also looking for a wife and Annie may be the perfect person to fill that position.

But when Alice shows up shortly after Burke and Annie are married things are going wrong for Annie and unfortunately she doesn't know whose side Burke is on.

I enjoyed this book but I had a hard time really loving the characters. I liked Annie but until just past mid-way through the book she really never stood up for herself in any way and was walked all over by most of the characters. I was so frustrated for her.

I really was not happy with Burke through the whole middle of the book after Alice arrives. I know the author most likely intended for that to happen and in that she did a great job! Alice was pure evil and I hope something really bad happened to her!

I'm still looking forward to reading more from this author!

Take Me Home, Cowboy by Krista Ames

Ally Kincaid is an editor at Blume Brothers Publishing and has no desire to be in a relationship, and continually has to remind her boss Daniel of this as he keeps asking her out. When a phone call out to her father, Jesse, goes answered by a rude cowboy she knows it's time to come home for a visit.

Matt Gentry is escaping from his past and has been working as the foreman on the ranch for Jesse for the past two years. He is not looking for any relationship but can't help be instantly attracted to Ally, no matter how much he tries to deny it. The two have chemistry for sure but neither are looking for a future together.

When an accident makes them each question their life will it bring them together or let them know that they are better off apart. And most importantly will Ally forgive Matt for his past?

This was a sweet romance on the importance of forgiving ourselves for things out of our control. Both Ally and Matt have pasts that not make them want to love again, yet the both know they have so many feelings for each other that they find it difficult to overlook.

Such a great romance and I look forward to more from the author!

The Honeymoon Ranch by Cheryl Gorman

Summer Conroy's business is in trouble after having to pay off her mother's debts when she died but when she inherits half of Silver Creek Ranch she thinks she is finally going to be ok financially. Unfortunately Bryce Jericho, who inherited the other half of his grandfather's ranch is not happy at all with the will.

When Summer wants to turn the ranch into a wedding destination and Bryce wants to turn it into a better ranch there is huge tension and when they both develop feelings and attraction for the other the two need to decide if they can work together to make everything a success.

I enjoyed this book and all of the tension involved with Summer and Bryce trying to sort out their feelings for one another. They both looked at things so differently yet both had huge hearts and really deep down wanted the other to succeed, yet they both did not want to get involved in a relationship.

Summer is trying her best at succeeding and it is sad that she was in so much trouble financially with no fault of her own due to her mother's bills. I loved the ideas she had and really enjoyed watching them come to light. I did really like Bryce as well and completely understood why he was hesitant in making the ranch a wedding destination as it would undermine the credibility of the ranch.

A great story and I look forward to more from the author.

Chalkboard Romance by Melissa Keir

Lauren Walsh is a divorced elementary school teacher whose ex-husband did a number on her self-esteem. Her best friend, Melanie, decides to set her up with a dating service called The Playhouse, that gets excellent results.

Mac Thomas is a foreign news correspondent with an 8 year old son, Todd, whose mom died 2 years ago. Mac's wife was never in love with him but they stayed together for the sake of Todd, although Mac was rarely at home. His sister, Sherry, decides to take matters into her own hands and sets him up with The Playhouse as well.

When sparks fly between Lauren and Mac, Lauren knows she has to get out of there before she gets her heart broken again. But what she doesn't expect is that she will see Mac when he comes to pick up one of her students, Todd, a week later. When Mac and Lauren begin a relationship it is clear that her job is on the line and Lauren must decide if Mac's love is worth the risk.

I enjoyed this story and how Lauren was able to get her self-esteem back from the damage her ex did on her. I was super mad at Melanie for about half the book but luckily she redeemed herself at the end. I really loved all of Mac's family and the love and support that they showed towards Lauren in welcoming her into their family!

The Cowboy's Baby by D'Ann Lindun

Cathleen "Cat" O'Brien has just returned to her Grandma's home in Granite, Colorado when her past comes back. The daughter, Eve, she gave up almost 18 years ago comes to her pregnant and alone after being thrown out of her adoptive parents house on Halloween night. That same night Eve comes face to face with Eve's dad, Tanner Burke, who forced her to give Eve up and now has an eight year old daughter, Sutton.

As Cat, Tanner and Eve begin to learn about each other they are faced with the same situation they were in and neither Cat nor Eve want to give up the baby but Tanner does. Will they be able to come to an agreement and will the past love that Cat and Tanner shared be able to be rekindled?

I enjoyed this story and I can't imagine having to give up your child when you really don't want to. The story is about forgiveness, second chances and family support. With the support of your family you can do anything and I think Eve had that with Cat. Tanner really wanted the best for everyone but finally realized what he missed out on.

I look forward to reading more books from the author!

This was a great series of books to read. They were all fun in their own rights. I enjoyed the series of books. Other than some minor editing issues here and there, it was all well written and edited.

Texas Haven by Kathleen Ball - Burke Dawson is looking basically for a mail order bride with kids, no attachments. Annie Douglas is looking for the love of one cowboy and stops at nothing to get it. What happens when a rental truck breaks down and Burke comes upon it, with a woman's feet sticking out from under the hood? What does he do? Why is Annie on her way to town? What is her business there? Where is she from and how charming are the cowboys the next morning when she is eating breakfast in the diner? What happens after Annie goes back home? What does her step-brother do? What does Burke do? What does Annie end up deciding to do with Burke's question? When she comes back to Texas, after a short amount of time, someone named Alice shows up at the house? Who is Alice? What is Annie's first impression of her? I know my first impression was "What a total witch!" What is Alice planning and with who? How do we find out? This book is full of lots of surprises, twists and turns. It was a really fun story to read.

Take Me Home, Cowboy by Krista Ames - Who is Ally Kincaid and what does Matt Gentry have to do with her or her family? When they meet, what happens between the two of them? What business is her father in? What does Matt do for her father? What happens between Ally and Matt is fun to read, especially when her mind starts working overtime and she overhears a phone conversation that Matt has one evening after they have all retired to bed. That's what she gets for eves dropping, right? What happens when Rogue is brought onto the scene? Is his name truly rogue or is that just what Matt is calling him for now? I suspect he will end up belonging to Ally, even though she's really not there. He seems to take an instant attraction to her. The fun is in reading how things progress between Ally and Matt, and Ally and Rogue. What happens with her father when he comes back with the rest of the hands and animals? What does Ally learn about Matt? Does this change anything? Enjoy the book. I know I did. I don't want to give too much away!

The Honeymoon Ranch by Cheryl Gorman - What happens when two people who do not know each other at all are suddenly thrust together on one persons ranch, because his father died and left it to his son and a woman that does not know the family? You are going to have to read what happens between Summer, a wedding planner and dress seller, and Bryce, the man who owns the ranch that is being split in twain. What changes does Summer want to bring to the ranch? What does Bryce think about those changes and what happens that changes his mind about her possibly bringing those changes? There are many things that happen in this story, including Summer and her first time riding. You'll have to read to see what happens that is so entertaining about that experience in this story. The story is a lot of fun to read. Enjoy it!

Chalkboard Romance by Melissa Keir - Lauren is a single teacher, who wishes for more in life than being single. Mac is a single father of one of Lauren's students. Teachers and parents are forbidden from dating. What happens when and if they do end up dating? Does she lose her job over it? What happens when her best friend a co-teacher has a secret of her own? What happens when that secret comes out? What pull does Mac have that causes the school board meeting to be completely packed that month? What happens at the meeting? When Lauren gives Mac some insights as to what she sees with regards to his son, Todd, what does he say and do? Watching how things change for Todd with regards to school, his attitude and behaviors was incredible. Reminds me of watching my own students grow and mature and change. This was a fun read for me, being a teacher myself.

Until You Fall in Love by Lyssa Layne - Abram and Jordan are friends and have been since childhood. Abram has recently moved back to town after going to California to help his sister out after something happened. What happened? What happens when Abram comes back? When Abram is drafted to help coach the little league baseball, women start asking Jordan questions. What questions is she asked and what happens the next time after a practice? Where are Jordan and her son RJ living? Who is RJ's father? What does Abram have to do with all of the parenting of RJ? Can best friends become lovers and then husband and wife? How would RJ feel about it? What questions does he ask of Abram as a man? Watching these questions that a 4-5 year old boy asks is something that made me smile broadly. See how one incident changes the whole feel of the story. This is a touching read and watching the interplay between all the characters is a lot of fun!

The Cowboy's Baby by D'Ann Lindun - Cat and Tanner were sweethearts when she was 16 and he 18. They end up as expecting parents, and what happens? Once their child is born, they lose contact with one another, why? What happens between them, between Cat and her mother, between Tanner and her mother? What about between His mother and each of them? What happens when Cat's grandmother dies and she goes back home, to get the house ready to sell? What happens on Halloween that she is not expecting? This is one very interesting story to read, about high school romance, and life after unexpected issues. Things get more interesting when someone tracks Cat down. Who is it and what do they want? Why are they there? How do they expect her to help them? You're going to need to read this story to see exactly what happened.

TEXAS HAVEN by Kathleen Ball
4 stars - reviewed separately
Really enjoyed this story.

PROS
A good quick read. The lead and supporting characters are likable and the antagonistic characters fulfilled their rolls well also. There was a good amount of angst and I had a hard time putting the book down. I did enjoy the tiny bit of 'faith factor' incorporated into the story.

CONS
In my opinion somethings just didn't fit well.

Annie has been hurt by nearly every man in her life, is saving herself for marriage and then jumps at the chance to try to enter a loveless marriage with a man she just met. Part of me can see that she just doesn't see herself worthy of anyone, but I can also see her desire to be independent and to be/feel worthy. Also, at one point she utilizes her faith to get her through, but the story gives no background/substance to the faith.

Travis has been burned, badly, by his previous marriage/ex-wife which has soured his outlook on love, pretty girls and city girls in-particular. I can see him advertising for a wife - given his limited time. I could also see him deciding to never marry. But given his basic values and character, I could never see him intentionally and purposefully entering a loveless marriage and wanting to have/raise children while in a loveless relationship; that's just not him and even less believable than Annie's actions.

SUMMARY
The CONS may have many more words than the PROS, but the PROS really do out-weigh the CONS. I did enjoy this book and will be reading book 2 in the series next.

TAKE ME HOME COWBOY by Krista Ames
2 stars
A short story about lust at first sight; a cowboy erotica.

Overall; not a bad short story. I am not a fan of lust at first sight. I like to see a more substantial attraction. I also thought his 'secret' was a little on the lame side. The connection wasn't strong enough for him to feel that degree of guilt.

THE HONEYMOON RANCH by Cheryl Gorman
3.5 stars
For the most part, a feel good story. Just enough angst to keep it interesting. Summer, a struggling wedding planner, and Bryce, a rancher who is also beginning to struggle are brought together in a rather unexpected way. Both attracted to the other, but both guarding their heart carefully.

Contains explicit scenes, but only as part of the story (not just for the sake of lust).

CHALKBOARD ROMANCE by Melissa Keir
2.5 stars
This is the rough draft of a good story.

Overall a very good story, but under developed. Many things were stated, but should have been described/shown instead; don't tell me - instead show me.

The beginning of the book didn't fit at all. Lauren is not the type of woman who meets a guy and is leading him to her bed within a few hours. And Mac is not the kind of guy who would respect a woman who would. I didn't see a connection strong enough for him to attempt to find her. What was he thinking? 'Wow, that was a good lay. I gotta find her and get me some more of that!' ?

However, I did find the characters very likable and ended up liking the story overall.

UNTIL YOU FALL IN LOVE by Lyssa Layne
3.5 stars
Nice story. I like the values and the characters. I liked that they went to church on Sundays, but would liked to have seen God on more than just Sundays. I understand how the 'praying' to Robby fit the story, but would have preferred the prayers be said to God.

THE COWBOY'S BABY by D'Ann Lindun
4.5 stars
At 16 Cat has Tanner's baby and give it up for adoption. Years later they find themselves once again arguing about whether it was the right decision.

Addressing this topic makes this a unique story. It also addresses other family dynamics which mesh together creating a good story.

Hot and sexy cowboys plus a good dose of romance equals a great anthology to cuddle up with on a chilly night: Cowboy, Mine. Problem is, I don't know which one I would want to claim as mine - and it wouldn't be right to hog them all to myself. Or would it?

All these stories by some favorite and some new authors give different views of love between cowboys in various situations and the loves of their lives (in some cases, not realizing it until almost the very end). They're not cookie-cutter cowboys, which is very refreshing. Granted, they're the strong and (sometimes) silent ones, but the commonality ends there. They provoke laughs, pull out tears, even create annoyance and frustration. It's a whole range of emotions in a set!

I devoured the entire set of full novels - not novellas or novelettes like what some sets are composed of - in just a couple of days. That's how good these stories are. Based on topics that you'd find in real life like single parenthood, abuse, death, and addictions, they're extremely relatable and don't force you to challenge your view of reality. Rather, they expand it and let you look at your own life in a better way.

And, the hot loving doesn't hurt at all! So when you're done ordering the set, grab a fuzzy blanket or a cuddly shawl, a cup or thermos of hot cocoa, not forgetting the marshmallows, and settle down to a fabulously romantic, wild cowboy weekend.

Who could pass up a delightful contemporary western romance box set of six full length stories featuring hot cowboys?!

Since I enjoyed reading all six romance stories in the Cowboy, Mine Box Set, I decided to only provide a general book review instead of individual reviews.

Did I mention that this awesome western romance box set features strong, hot cowboys and sassy, independent women?!

Cowboy, Mine is an entertaining collection of western romances that has a well balanced mixture of romance and real life situations that will appeal to everyone. From sweet to hot and sexy cowboy romances; to friendship and second chances; to a variety of real life issues that the characters have to deal with: single parenthood, abuse, death, loss, grief, and addictions; the reader will experience the full gamut of emotions as each story unfolds.

In Cowboy, Mine, the authors weave an intriguing and thoroughly enjoyable unique full length set of romantic tales that have engaging characters and enough drama, humor, and romance that will easily draw the reader into each story, sweeping them away to the small frontier town ranch settings, while holding them captivated and leaving them breathless.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the boxed set from the authors in exchange for my honest review and participation in a book review program hosted by The Book Garden PR

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this box set.

7 full lengths novels, I read them all but am just going to write a general overview rather than individual reviews.

All seven authors are new to me, some I loved, some liked, some not so much. But that's the beauty of these sets, you get to try lots of different authors, for the same price as a single book, and you can find out just which ones you want more of, and which, less.

Some stories were more explicit than others, but that's not a bad thing at all. Sometimes you need hot and steamy, and sometimes you just need a really sweet romance. Some have difficult topics, and could be considered having triggers : abuse, addictions, grief. Some made me laugh and some made me cry. I cheered in places and cringed in others.

A little bit of something for everyone, especially if hot and sexy cowboys is your thing :-) And at the current price (Feb 12 2016) of £0.99/$1.44 very good value for money!

4 stars for the whole set, with no stand out for good OR bad reasons.

**same worded review will appear on Goodreads, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com**

". . . people need to struggle in order to grow." This is a quote from one of the stories in this collection and it really sums it up. It is a great collection of real life issues and conflicts wound together with story lines that are true to life. Issues from mental and physical abuse, loss, death, and addictions all tied up in one neat package. Each author handles each of the issues with characters that are well developed and with whom you can relate. D'Ann Lindun will blow you away with the way she writes with such strong emotion. You will totally get swept away. Kathleen Ball writes with such grace. Melissa Keir and Krista Ames are easy-going and easy to read. Lyssa Layne and Cheryl Gorman complete this group with down to earth styles. Great Read!!

Love all these authors and this set.

This is an awesome collection of books from some of my favorite authors. Some of these authors are new to me also. Love stories about cowboys and ranches. All the stories are different types of love stories but they are wonderful. Several made me cry and they made me think of second chances but they were all awesome. If you love small town ranch stories filled with lots of emotions try this boxed set. You will enjoy these books.

The books in this Anthology have given life to the Cowboy's within the pages.

All the books give an introduction to the author and show us a book in a series that could be taken up and read at anytime.

These six different stories give us a taste of hot alpha and strong cowboys and how they are tamed by their women.

This is a great way to get to know new authors and revisit old familiar faces. Cowboys are always hot to read about in my neck of the woods and these 6 books are no exception.
Each book is different but each book has heat and romance. Grab a copy and a cup of joe. YOU will be so happy you did! 5 star read all around.
