P.S. Meraux writes books about paranormal chaos, sassy heroines, and creatures who are just a little unhinged (in the best way). She's an Indie and Amazon bestselling author—which sounds fancy until you realize it just means she drinks too much coffee and argues with fictional people for a living. Her stories mix sci-fi, mystery, romance, and a generous helping of “wait, did that just happen?”

P.S. has a thing for supernatural oddballs, morally gray weirdos, and badass women who save themselves (and occasionally punch vampires in the face). Her idea of worldbuilding is "let's break everything and see what grows back."

Originally from South Carolina, she now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where her backyard is suspiciously full of fireflies and dubiously English for someone not living in a BBC period drama. There may or may not be faeries. There is definitely sarcasm.

I loved it. I thought it a bit darker than the earlier books in the series but then I guess that's because a whole lot more is happening. I still can't decide which soul mate I'm really rooting for. I am curious about this transition business.

I’m a great fan of this series ever since I read the first book. In fact, this series has helped feed my addiction for books in the paranormal genre. I was going through withdrawal after the Twilight books ended. From the start I loved the combination of different worlds and the fact that these super immortals work behind the scenes to create soul mate matches. Each book has plots full of believable action and incredible twists. All of the above was in this book and more.
Spotlight marks a major turning point in the series. Emily is much more than an average human girl. We're finally beginning to learn about her special magic. Emily doesn't make a choice between soul mates but fate it seems intervenes and makes one for her. We’re treated to a deadly confrontation with a vampire in the midst of a highly exciting and romantic moment. My heart was pounding, I was so afraid for them. And just when I thought she might be kidnapped or worse, fireworks! This book is exciting as hell, and launches a new twist in the series that I was not expecting. Although at this point I should always know to expect the unexpected from this author.
Meraux used this book to not only advance the story but to set up the next books to come.
No, there wasn't any sex just more of the slow building romance. I didn't mind. Man, it's so intense. I adore the fact that I know what's going on in Emily's head and I get to read what's going on in each of the guy's minds too. There was plenty of alone time between "the couples." And just when I thought there might be a serious proposal...Presto change-o. The author shakes up this universe again.

Page turner!!! The paranormal elements are innovative and unique. A refreshing change seeing the bad guy as a vampire in a romance novel these days! Meraux presents the super immortals in this series, what's called Paragons as realistic without going too much into their history but I suspect the explanations for their existence may be in future books. I didn't find it overly distracting. The author does a good job of building suspense and add touches of drama with the romance. There are a number of twists.
The characters are well fleshed out and are serious, even at times quite nervous at doing their best for the heroine, Emily, which to me makes them believable and likable...with perhaps the exception of Waxine. She seems a bit superior even smug for an animated candelabra, the fact that she seems so realistic rather than cartoonish is a testament to the quality of the writing.
The fact that Emily is undergoing a transformation that she's not aware of makes me curious about what's next for her. This is more than a simple romance where she has to select a man to love from three soul mates.
The ending had me wanting the next book right now!!!

I like how this landscape is expanding, I mean when I first started the series I thought it was just going to be about the exploits of this girl who had too many soulmates, but now, WOW! I realize that slowly it has been becoming so much more. All the details in the earlier books about this villain guy, the archer, are coming into focus and that subplot is gaining equal footing with the main romantic love triangle and yet its intertwined. I mean I didn't see it coming because it was quite subtle, and yet now, I realize that it has been part of the bigger picture all along. And Emily is becoming something more, which is spine-chilling and thrilling at the same time. I would highly recommend. I have to say well done to the author for putting all these other elements in without it distracting from the story. Its only adding to it.
