Then Owen is gone, and Morgan meets Brian, making things look different, but her feelings for Owen remain, ready to cause trouble. Morgan the person is a mess. At one point in the writing I had to go back and make her more annoying, which felt risky. It was also important because there are a lot of us who are messes out there. Getting to see our actual value, and the process of becoming neater but accepting the mess that is left, is really important. I believe there is hope for any of us.
