OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

Pretty good overview of Disney. A little light on the rest of Orlando.

At first I thought I was heading for a two star review, but in the end, I was quite happy with this little book. Its size is a great asset and allowed me to bring it with me on my commute to continue my research when one of it's competitors would have weighed me down considerably. It really packs in a lot of information and is a good antidote to the overwhelming (but hugely useful) Unofficial Guide that apprises its readers of every last detail. The only section in which I thought the Lonely Planet was a little lacking, was the one on midrange hotels as their listings seem to include only budget and high end options. I would have thought those were all there were, but other guides informed me otherwise. This book is a good investment if you want to prepare but are adverse to information overload, or simply want a travel friendly book to supplement an oversized Disney Travels library.

Little more than a basic guidebook to the main theme parks around Orlando, though I don't know whether that says more about Orlando or this book. It's not even that well laid out.
