Just when you thought the apocalyptic detention was over…
Having fought their way back to what they believe to be their home world, Rev, GG and The Ape discover that they're now stuck in the nightmarish world of doppelgangers, surrounded by a town of super-powered killing machines. Johnson, Billie and the Moth are still trapped in the empty world. Alive, but with no way home. Can Rev get the misfits back together? And even if she can will she be able to do it before the world ends. Time is running out… And believe it or not that's the least of their problems.
I rated Shift quite highly last time, and I'll do the exact same thing for this one. Lets cut to the chase: Characters - Good Romance - Oooooooh level Twists - Lots of them Plot - Expanding Fear - Larger. This book has a more eerie element than the last, with footsteps, a mysterious winter, five years that never were, and a silent unknown figure of the night.
The reveals were dramatic, I read the whole book in one day, and was practically crying at the bit on the train ( you'll know ) This book really develops the series, and although I was kinda bored in the church bit, everything picked up quickly again. I was truly happy when the thing with Ape happened at the end. Ahhhhh. This is so hard without spoilers. But if you've read the first one, then definitely read this one
This book was received via a Goodreads Giveaway, and while the first book in the series was enough to put me off for life, I thought it only right to give this book a chance and hope some vast improvements had been made. Alas that wasn't to be the case, indeed this turns out to be just as awful but with more pages to trawl through.
The book is monotonous and, as with the first in the series, is overly heavy on child-like dialogue and devoid of descriptive content. It is repetitive and, even though over 300 pages long, doesn't actually go anywhere interesting or contain anything that would enthrall the reader. Worst of all, it's to be continued in a third book.
But, as stated in my review of the first book, perhaps I am just too old. Perhaps this book will have appeal to 10 year olds, and perhaps that is who it is aimed at.
First of all I need too say thank you for my copy of this book that I received though goodreads first reads. I have enjoyed this book I really have even though I did find it quite confusing at times and hard to read a nights when I was a little tired. I enjoyed the style of it and the Coroline style of the theme. The characters are really loveable and did make me chuckle several times! Thank you again
