A hopeful love... an unthinkable danger.

Jonah is the respected Prince of Artemesia who always believed his life had a larger purpose. Although he was royalty, he always had a certain discontent with his passionless way of life. While he had grown up among the most highly esteemed rulers in the region, he had never felt of much use. But ever since he became eighteen years of age, all of that changed.

When Jonah and his father, the Earl of Artemesia, journey to the neighboring kingdom of Ealdomere to discuss Jonah's betrothal to the princess, everything changes. After being attacked various times on their journey by a deadly sorceress, Jonah is forced to keep her identity hidden for the safety of his family. But when he meets the witch's niece, Genevieve, he begins to have doubts about his upcoming engagement. Will he be strong enough to save Genevieve from the evil sorceress, or will he be forced to overcome his feelings and one day become the king of Ealdomere?

I was not a fan of this book. I'm not sure what the age group it's aimed at is, but it felt extremely elementary to me. There was a lot of references to the Christian god, and as an agnostic I would have liked the summary of the book to include something about the religiousness of it. It wasn't a horrible book, and it was a nice and quick read. I would have liked there to be more details; a lot of it felt skimmed through.

I received this book through a goodreads giveaway. I was excited to read it, as it appears to be a Christian fantasy romance -- sounds great to me! I tried to give it a good chance, and made it about 1/3 of the way through the book.

The author has an odd way of writing that distracted me from the story. For example, "She changed her perspective so that she could look at him." What? Just say, "she turned and looked at him." And given that she used the incorrect idiom of "all of the sudden" that really bugged me, I noticed it every time she used it, which was way too often!

I also didn't "feel" the characters. I felt like the author was telling me how to feel about a certain character, rather than letting me make my own judgment.

If the writing was smoother, I'd definitely be interested in continuing the story.

I received this during a giveaway and was quite excited to read it. Sadly it took me quite a while to finish this book, at one point I almost did not, but I wanted to give it a complete try.

The flow of the writing is a bit choppy, it is hard to fall into the world being portrayed, to me it felt as if I was reading reactions in a list instead of a story. I feel like the natural flow that comes with writing books will come with more time and learning.

For this book personally I found the characters a bit lacking. The writing style is just a bit unpolished. I personally would not recommend.

Tbh I liked this book better than the first, it had an interesting plots and new characters. The beginning was a little confusion but it'll become very clear within a few chapters. The ending, as always, was really cute and leaves you feeling happy inside. I feel like I should say more describing the book but you should just read it and marvel in the world/ romance/ drama.

I received this book from Goodreads First Reads in exchange for an honest review...

I honestly couldn't get into this book. I believe it was the author's writing style that threw me off. I felt like it was very poorly written, poor sentence construction, the characters were poorly developed, poorly put together, and the plot was bland. Half way through, I gave up because it was annoying me so much.
