Matt happens to be the grandson of a cold-hearted old woman who thinks Janae's not good enough for him. Margaret and Matt's brother will do everything they can to force Janae out of Matt's life. When they go too far, the beautiful relationship Janae and Matt had is left in ruins.Janae has a decision to make. A lot of people's livelihood and one person's life itself is dependent on what she chooses to do. It was a quick and lovely read. But not one that I would remember a week from now.

What I love
- the author did not focus on the physical characteristics. Especially for the FL. You don't know how many authors focus on skin tone -- mocha, caramel, golden, honey -- (if you see what I mean. Then you know what's happening) and how the ML obsesses over it.
- a quick read. You know what you're getting
- not your typical alpha male. He has his ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses
- the brother deserves a story. Would love to see if a person with such a stoic disposition could find love

What could be better
- the steamy parts were just there to add steam. There was no chemistry to lead to such intimacy. Moreover, who talks that much during intimacy? Build it up slowly, and show why they love each other.
- not much character development. What's the motivation for what they do?
- lack of follow-through from FL. She grows a backbone when ML is there to defend her. Even though the ML hasn't proven to be able to protect her. Show not tell would have worked wonders.

Awesome read! The only frustration I had is with Janae who did not trust Matt enough to tell him what was really going on. All the threats from Margaret and his brother were for nothing! A very good story!

Misery loves company

I'm a fan of Tressie's I liked this book a lot. It had drama, joy, love, pain, sex and heartbreak. So if you're into all of that in your books this is a good one. Sins of a parent can often times play apart in a child's life that was left behind, this book dealt with that pain, mistrust. You can understand why things happened the way they do but you're hopeful that loves finds away from misery.

Don't Give Up

Quite a good read. Except for lots of repeated sentences, and misspelled words which took away from the story. What happened to proofreading.
