My name is Cassie Healy. I'm twenty-two years old and I've had to sneak around to be able to have a relationship with the man I love because of my overbearing parents. So what if Brantley Moxin has a criminal record? He's who I chose to be with. Leaving town was our only option. One night we packed up a few things and hit the road, bound for a new chance at a future together. I thought it was going to be beautiful; something my parents would come to appreciate after time. Instead I've been thrown into a life I wouldn't wish on anyone. Now I have nowhere to go - a family obviously ashamed of what I've done. This is my mess to clean up, and I'm afraid I'm in too deep for that to happen.

Jennifer Foor is an award winning Contemporary Romance Author. She's best known for the Mitchell Family Series, which includes ten books. With over forty published titles, there is a story for every interest. Her books can be found on most platforms and in paperback. She is married with two children and spends most of her time behind a keyboard, creating and writing stories straight from her heart.
I think I've hit the end of my time with the Mitchell Healy family. I can understand that Jennifer Foor wanted to have this new series with each of the characters edgy, angst filled and tortured but for the way they grew up in a loving stable family? It was a HUGE bust. I can understand one turning out bad but all of them just read as spoiled, jerks, a-holes, and sorry, bitches. I loved the OG series so much but it seems this one is nothing but a bad soap opera crammed into a couple hundred pages. You can't imagine how disappointed I am. The only character I liked has been Jax.
Cassie was by far the worst tied with Bella. Her actions made her sound like a huge brat and I didn't see any "journey" but instead a failed attempt to make a character some strong woman that overcame obstacles. Ha! She was terrible.
Sad to say I'm no longer going to rush for this series anymore. If I read another one it won't be a priority over others like a Mitchell series book used to be. I'm obviously in the minority but I think J.F. can do MUCH better.
Completely different from the rest in the series this book focuses more on Cassie's journey to finding herself. It's a tough journey, she finds her self in trouble not long after leaving home. She makes several really bad choices before finally figuring she should get out. Brent had no redeeming qualities to me so when things happened, I only felt that finally Cassie could be free. I wish that there was more time with her and Logan though. They needed more time learning their pasts from each other and growing as a couple. Their story felt more like lust for me and not true love. I think if there was some more sweet moments between them I would have felt that their love was more real like the books in the past. Cassie, sadly is not my favorite cousin but that's ok I don't have to like them all. Tyler still sometimes rubs me the wrong way, no matter how sweet and hot he is. Overall this is a great addition to the series, there isn't many cameos from the Mitchel family only a few and the majority of the book is not set on either farm. I really missed that a lot.
Overall it's not a book to be missed in this series, Jennifer Foor writing is easy to read and enjoy. You wont be sorry for grabbing this one.
~~ Thanks to Jennifer Foor for giving me an ARC for an honest review. ~~
Title: Cassie Author: Jennifer Foor Genre: Contemporary Romance, New Adult Series or Standalone: Standalone Series (The Mitchell/Healy Family #7) Rating: ★★★★
Review
I have to say before I review the book that going into this story, I’d never read anything by this author before, so there was a bit of trepidation in terms of what I was going to be in for once I started. It deepened when I realized this was a series, because I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to follow along and review properly based on the fact that 6 other books came before this one.
As it turns out, this while containing aspects of the other family members from previous books at parts, can be read entirely standalone. There were no moments of confusion in terms of previous books and what I may have missed.
Cassie is a young woman that’s spent the majority of her life sheltered from the darker realities of the world going on around her, though she is in typical young adult fashion rebelling against her parents. Especially when it pertains to her boyfriend Brantley. The epitome of bad boy, she’s fallen for him and despite her family telling her the truth about the type of guy he is, she’s already in too deep. She’s in love and no one, not even those that love her most is going to tell her different.
So what does a young woman do when she’s head over heels in love with a boy that no one else seems to approve of? She runs away with him. But she got a whole lot more than she bargained for in doing that and despite her head an inner voice, along with Brantley showing her quite early on that she made the wrong choice, love makes her stay.
Drawing her into a world that she has never known before and taking her down a path that the more I read, I was afraid she might never be able to break free of. This book and the issues presented within it are definitely not for the faint of heart. So if drug abuse, sexual situations (multiple partners etc) offends you, this one might not be the book for you.
I have to admit, I wasn’t all that eager to see this girl’s descent, just how far she would fall. As real as these issues are in a day to day for some people, I wasn’t chomping at the bit to see it portrayed in what is labelled as a contemporary romance, but even knowing that, I stayed because I had to see this girl come out on the other end. Away from the darkness she’d been thrown into and had turned into really and being given something better.
The situation that Brant brings her into, it’s not an easy one to read. It has the ability to turn your stomach, seeing where she started and where she ends up and a lot of it is graphic. It was definitely not pretty and was hard to read, but it made what happens in the end that much more fulfilling because we’re given a very real visual of what she was living with.
Enter Logan. I didn’t see Logan coming, I have to admit that. When I read the blurb, I assumed this was going to be her and Brant strictly, but he was a nice surprise. A savior of sorts. A man that stepped in when it was quite obvious that Cassie wasn’t strong enough anymore to save herself and attempts to do the right thing by her in order to make it happen.
Tragedy strikes. Cassie’s world is rocked to the core, but where it appears that we’ve hit rock bottom with no real upswing in sight, it does. With the help of Logan, Cassie is able to put things in perspective, deal with her loss (which to me wasn’t that much of a loss at all considering what happened) and move on with her life. Enjoy herself again. Be herself after spending so long having to be someone else when she was with Brant.
I enjoyed the way this ended. Cassie being able to come out on the other end and stronger than before. What Logan did to get her there may have been horrible, but in the end, I felt it was right and I adored him for what he did, even at the expense of his own heart and feelings.
My only complaint was that I wanted just a little bit more with Logan and Cassie. We had been given such a deep look into the seedier part of the life she had been thrown into when she ran away from home, that I wanted the same amount given to this aspect as well. Something that would eventually put her on the right path (and back with the family that seems to love her).
But when you take the new found romance out of it, you’re left with what I felt the book was really about. This truly was a coming of age tale for Cassie. She went through so much and as time progressed, had to live with that and use it to grow up. Become the person I do believe she was always meant to be before her feelings for Brantley took her down the wrong road.
Despite the heavy way this book started, I enjoyed the way it ended and it’s a book that I’m glad I took the chance on.
My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read this before release.
After reading Addison and getting a glimpse of Cassie we knew she was going to be fun and up to no good, we couldn't wait for her book.
Cassie is in love with the town bad boy, Brant, she sees a different side to Brant that most don't. After being forbidden to see him she defies her parents leaving a trail of hurt. Destination and job prospects for Brant are unknown to Cassie, leaving her with doubts about her decision.
Arriving in Vegas and staying with Brant's 'friends' isn't what Cassie had signed up for. When she finds out what Brant's job entails she isn't impressed but goes along with it, it's just until he gets paid and they're out, right?
Cassie is so blinded by love and wanting to be with Brant that she gets sucked in and starts to do things that go against her morals. The internal pull of what is right and wrong has Cassie torn, has she made a mistake?
"True love stands the test of time. I prayed that saying was true."
She needs to give it her all with Brant and stop doubting the situation, he's promised this is just for now so they can get on their feet. Cassie becomes so swept up in drugs amongst other things to escape her new life and guilt. She knows what she is doing is wrong and has regrets but it's too late to stop now...
"It took me years to come up with the courage to stand up for what I wanted in life, and only a matter of weeks for me to throw it all away on sex, drugs, and crime. When I looked in the mirror I no longer saw the sweet girl my parents raised. Instead I saw someone who woke in the morning looking for a fix to get me through; someone willing to toss her morals aside for a high."
Was her family right? Is Brant really that bad for her? Her head says yes but her heart is saying no.... Rock bottom kicks her hard, she's been arrested and given an ultimatum. Go to jail and have a criminal record which includes the humiliation of facing her family again and finding out what she's done or; she helps the task force with information about Brant's job and his boss. No way could she ever let her family know what she has been doing in Vegas, that they were right all along about Brant.
Agent Logan Campbell has been working on the force in for the last few years after tragically losing his parents. His goal is to bring down the scum of the earth and what better place to do it than Vegas. He wants to help save those before they destroy themselves, to prevent others from going through what he did.
Cassie agrees to help Logan, she's scared and she loves Brant. She doesn't want to betray him, she still has hope for them but she knows she needs help and needs to get clean. One bad night leaves her in hospital after one visit from Brant he leaves her stranded, facing the fact that she's on her own but still wanting Brant it's hard but she makes that call with some new information for Agent Campbell.
"Love is blind. It makes us do crazy things. It’s not until time slips away from us that we realize what we’ve lost while on the journey.”
Cassie loses it after not having contact with Brant and is released in the custody of Logan. When Logan gives Cassie information on Brant she's angry, it's made her realize the mistake she's made by following her heart and not listening to her parents. It's her mess and now she needs to clean it up rather then running back to her family.
The minute she can make a run for it she does and she's straight back into the arms of Brant and danger. Logan was trying to protect her and for a good reason. He will still do everything he can to try and save her from herself regardless of her feelings towards him.
"I just want you to see how your life is just beginning. The road to happiness is free of traffic. It’s your time to shine. You need to seize every opportunity you get. Be optimistic. Be everything you know you deserve to be.”
You know those fairy tales with a knight in shining armour. That's exactly what Logan is although Cassie doesn't see it right away. Hell bent on helping her reclaim her life he seriously had us swooning. The roller coaster ride and realisation of Logan to Cassie was a more than a light bulb moment. His history and actions have put her on a path of self discovery in so many ways, leading her to discover what she wants in life no matter how hard experiences and life might be. Family is everything and forgiveness is always in reach. The Mitchell/Healy family are our favourite family, the love that each and every character displays for one another just radiates from each book, making you want to be apart of them.
"He was the light at the end of the tunnel, the hope when all felt lost. I may have gone through hell with Brant, but Logan showed me the way back to heaven.”
We just adore this entire series and look forward to more, it's one we don't want to end.
Cassie (Mitchell Healy #7) By: Jennifer Foor 3/5 stars
Ok, so I may be the exception to the rule in my review of this book. I don’t generally give spoilers, but there will be some at the bottom of the review to explain my rating.
Cassie Healy is 22 and has a boyfriend that her parents disapprove of. She still lives at home, even though she works and pays her parents rent, they still feel like they can tell her what to do and who to see, which she absolutely hates.
Cassie feels the only way that she can be with her boyfriend, Brant, is if they run away together. So they head to Las Vegas to get out from under her family and to start a new life there. Brant hasn’t exactly been truthful about his new job and their living arrangements. Cassie has a hard time accepting that this is her new life and that Brant has gotten them both into some criminal scheme. She’s ashamed, but she loves Brant and just can’t give up on him yet, plus she’s also too embarrassed to call home & return to her family.
Cassie has issues accepting her new reality. Unfortunately, in order to deal with this, she seeks the help of drugs. Cassie ends up changing into a person she never thought she’d be, doing things that would be unacceptable to her if she was clean & sober.
Her life changes when FBI Agent Logan Campbell enters the picture. At first she doesn’t believe that it’s for the better, but with time spent off drugs, she realizes that some changes are for the best. She still feels like she can’t face her parents because of the things she said to her mother and by being completely wrong about her boyfriend when her family was right.
I felt that some of this book process was rushed for Jennifer Foor. I loved the Mitchell series and have just been so-so about the Mitchell-Healy series, but I love the characters & I will follow this series. But there were quite a few grammar mistakes (a few are generally to be expected) and there were storyline mistakes. For example, one of the characters would do something and then a few pages later, they would just start doing what they had previously just finished. (spoiler) Then there were huge jumps in time after Cassie was rescued by Logan. There was one day that was shown at his house and then in the next paragraph, it was three weeks later and they were leaving on a cross country car trip. Then there was a reminiscing about things they did or that happened while living at his house. There were too many moments that were just told, almost as an afterthought to make something in the present standout, instead of shown. The last is a personal preference: They ended their little whirlwind at 91% so I didn’t get the love feeling when they made up. Then the book skips to 6 months later & ended. I like to see the time after a couple makes up, to actually be in a relationship and see them working it out. Especially after the huge split comes so late in the book, I just didn’t feel their relationship. (/spoiler)
For Cassie it was either her family or her boyfriend, brant. The decision wasn't an easy one but she chose Brant. He convinced her to move thousands of miles away and cut off ties. Her family was everything so how could she go and not look back. Brands promises made her think she could.
She thought they would have the world at their feet, she never thought brant would lead her down a path of destruction, drugs and stealing. How can you be so consumed by someone you would loose yourself?
Cassie never thought she would get in trouble but of course there's a first for everything. Going to jail didn't sound like her cup of tea, but ratting out her boyfriend wasn't either. She thought she could save brant not kill him.
Logan was a hot shot FBI agent. His main goal was to save people since he couldn't save his sister or parents, meeting Cassie he knew he shouldn't try but something told him he needed to. An unlikely alliance turned into friendship where that turned into a cross country road trip. Cassie didn't know he was leading her home she thought it was more, it had to be didn't it since she was falling?
Cassie couldn't believe Logan would use her and dump her. After everything she had been through she decided to change and do something productive, become a police officer. Logan needed Cassie back and he was going to stop at nothing to get her.
I love the Mitchell/Healy crew! Each couple has a past and demons they have to face it's fun to read and find out how they overcome it all and end up happy!!
I don’t even know where to begin with this one. Cassie had me upset with the way she treated her parents because they didn’t like her boyfriend, who happened to be a criminal. She was in love and didn’t see anything wrong with him. They loved each other, or so she thought. It got so bad to the point her boyfriend talked her into running away to Las Vegas with him. He said he had a job lined up to make them some serious money so they could start their life together. This man rubbed me the wrong way from the very beginning. I guess for almost the first half of the book, my blood was boiling. This book got intense. My heart hurt for Cassie but she was under love’s spell. She thought she was going to have this wonderful life with the man she loved but things weren’t as she expected. Things got really rough before they got better. I really loved which way Jennifer Foor took this book. It definitely eased my heart after a while. I love intense books but this was the first time my blood was boiling.
I was pulled into this story right from the get go, which is where I stayed until I had read every single word that was written. At the same time I had my mini movie playing along in my head. Love it when that happens. Emotions run rife through this book, I went through each and everyone of them along with the characters. I have to admit though, there was a character or two I really wanted to punch, but they redeemed themselves before the end of the book. I might of cried once or twice, so if you are anything like me you might want to make sure you have tissues on hand. There are surprises throughout this story, some you may see coming, where others you won't. Some are large while others are small, some of the surprises may hit you square in the face, where others may pull on your heart strings. But each and everyone of them holds equal importance within the book. I have read this book on more than once and have enjoyed it each and every time, even cried at the same places. I highly recommend this book and this author.
I'm such a big fan of the Mitchell/Healy series but so not a fan of Cassie at all. She is a spoiled little bitch. She runs of with the "love of her life" and starts to live a life of crime, drugs and sex. She is so gullible when her boyfriend justifies it by saying it is only for a little time until they can make the big money and start their life over. Is she that stupid to believe his lies????? Then of course when things come to an end she doesn't hesitate to jump right in bed with her rescuer. It cracked me up when they meet back up later and he assumes she is with someone else and she says "I'm not easy"....LOL Of course you're not. Who doesn't lose the "love of their life" and then fall into bed with someone else almost instantly? I also didn't get her career decision. It seriously made no sense to me. Just out of the blue she decided this. As for Logan I liked him and thought he deserved better than Cassie.
I loved this book, and should be added to your reading list. this book was a excellent addition to the Mitchell -Healy Saga and can't wait to read more.
This is the first book I read from Jennifer Foor and I honestly have to say that I highly enjoyed this book. This is about a girl who needs to redeem herself, prove to her loved ones that she can definitely change and even though she's made bad decisions, she can turn around and rectify her mistakes.
This book focuses on Cassie and the struggles she goes through with her family and the man she proclaims to love. He makes her feel things that are so unlike her and she'll do anything for this man. He is a bad guy with a criminal record but that doesn't seem to affect Cassie in the least, until Brant starts making her do things that she normally would never in her wildest dreams even think of doing. But since she loves him so much she will go through great lengths to make him happy.
Cassie finds herself in a situation that she can't seem to get out of. She has to decide whether she wants to continue helping Brant or should she walk away from him forever and go back home? She is stubborn and doesn't want to call her family because she feels like she's going to be told the "I told you so" line and that's the last thing she wants to hear.
Cassie blames herself for what happens to Brant but she has to understand that she's not to blame. He is the one who got himself into trouble and he was the only one who was going to be able to get himself out of it.
Cassie meets Logan, an FBI agent who wants to help her. He can't seem to understand the pull he has towards her but he can't help it and he wants to help her.
Feelings between them start growing and find themselves admitting to each other that what they're feeling is more than just mere friendship. Can they let go of the past and move forward?
Logan has demons that he can't seem to shake off either and hopes that maybe by meeting Cassie he can change.
These two broken people being together can be a good thing. They can help each other out and move forward. They can most definitely have a happily ever after right?
Cassie needs to find herself and she thinks that by going back home and actually deciding to do something with her life she can move forward.
I definitely had a strong pull towards these characters. At times I felt like Cassie had it in her to stand up and leave Brant, but then I felt her weakness. But I can't blame her. When you love someone, love is blind and no matter how bad or good the person is, in your eyes they're always going to be good especially if they tell you things you want to hear and shows you how much they love you and it seemed like Brant was doing just that with Cassie. He was great manipulator.
I'm just glad justice was made and everyone moved forward.
A total thumbs up for me. I love the kind of books that have you going with a little bit of action involved and Cassie definitely had some action!
4.5 star
**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
I can not believe how great this series is. I loved the Mitchell series but their kids are turning out brilliant even if they are giving their parents a few grey hairs. I think this book has become my favourite in this series so far. We go on a right roller coaster right that's for sure, I was on the edge of my seat a few times I cried for Cassie I have to agree, I could see some of the things I had done in my life in this book. Well worth more than 5 stars. I highly recommend this book, but read all of both series first you need to know the last out of the families and how they came about. Jennifer Foor thank you for writing such great books. I would love to be able to see in side your head and find out where you get your ideas.
Readers of the series were given a bit of a teaser for the set up of Cassie's story in the closing chapters of the previous book in the series, Addison. Nevertheless while the book is based on characters who have a long history, this book can be read as a standalone.
22 year old Cassie, in response to the constant pressure from her parents to get rid of her long term, on again, off again, bad boy, boyfriend Brant, takes things to the opposite extreme.
Deciding that its the only way the two can be happy together, free from the incessant interference from her family, the young couple cuts ties and strikes out on their own, heading for the bright lights of Vegas to make their mark on the world.
Unfortunately, since her parents were right about Brant all along, things don't work out as well as our heroine might have dreamed.
Instead, in a manner very much different from the rest of the books in the series, this novel chronicles Cassie's slow descent into all of the vice and sin that the city of lights has to offer, and only once she reaches rock bottom can she begin to rebuild herself and her dreams. All with nary a peep from the lovable extended family she's willfully cut herself off from.
In many ways this is a coming of age story, for while Cassie might be a little older than the average protagonist of such stories, she's one of these people who has stayed living at home. Never experienced hunting for and finding her own place to live. Never experienced the drudgery of struggling to find work, since she's always had opportunities laid at her feet by her family. So when the sweet and mostly innocent country girl finds herself in Vegas, she's very mush a fish out of water, and in that sink or swim environment, she sinks rather fast.
Dealing with some strong themes, sexuality and trust, drugs and betrayal, crime and murder, Jennifer Foor gives us what may be the most powerful book yet in the series. Given that I've loved each and every one of them, I couldn't possibly say less about this one.
Another great story by Jennifer Foor. I have had a love for the Mitchell/Healy clan since we met Ty and Van years ago !! Now reading about all their kids it has been surreal, hard to see how grown up they have become. I love seeing the parents in action yet I feel their kids stories have so much more pain than theirs , and believe me the drama was not scarce in those stories AT ALL. Connor and Amy had one of the hardest journeys of all the originals and now they are having a struggle with their daughter Cassie. She is not afraid to push buttons and leave home , I never thought I would see any of them leave home like this.
Cassie and her boyfriend Brant have had the cards stacked against them since day 1. Cassie's parents do not like him , they want to keep her away from him and despite being in her 20's her parents try very hard to control her actions. Being fed up Cassie and Brant decide to leave home and chase after some dream job for Brant. Problem is Brandt does not do much by way of legal so who knows what is in store. Cassie quickly finds that the struggle of being on their own , away from home and family isn't all it's cracked up to be. To top it off the worry Cassie has over what Brant is actually doing has changed her , she is making poor choices and they are getting mixed in things they should be staying away from. A savior comes to Cassie by way of an FBI hottie and hands her a proposition. Will Cassie accept or will she continue on the path of destruction with Brant ??
I was shocked with that part of the story I honestly didn't expect it to go down that way. After certain events changed Cassie's journey the book sped up a bit and I think I would have enjoyed a bit more time during the road trip and then after. I enjoyed Cassie's story and am happy she was able to fix things and get back to being happy and healthy. I look forward to more...
Cassie is a spoiled 20 year old little rich girl who is not getting her own way with her parents. She decides to run away with her criminal boyfriend and completely wipe her family from her life.
This sounds pretty straight forward but it's not at all. Her boyfriend Brant has groomed her and brainwashed her to do what he wants. As the story progresses the manipulation is plain as day. Cassie doesn't end up with Brant but you need to read the book to see the how, where and why on that part of the story.
Cassie is a young girl who has backed herself into a corner and can't see any way out. Then she meets Logan and realizes what she has done to herself. She suddenly has to grow up and act her age. She has been to hell and back, some of it self inflicted in desperation, but now it is time to reclaim herself.
At the beginning of this book I was wanting to shake sense into this girl. She was completely oblivious to what was happening right under her nose and she really was like a spoilt child throwing a tantrum. In saying that I could empathize with her when she realised what had happened to her life. I did feel for Logan at times because Cassie really gave him a run for his money with her behaviour. But he is a genuine good guy. You can't help but like him. He has his own demons but finds he much prefers fighting Cassies instead.
By the end of the book I was proud of her. She got her self together and decided what she wanted to do with her life. She simply grew up. There were some details I would have liked to have seen happen but overall I did enjoy the story as a whole.
This is the first book by Jenn I started where I didn't like the leading man. Even cheating cocky Ty (from the Mitchell's book #1) had my heart from the beginning... But then about one third in I figured there were two leading men, the bad boy and the good. I was frustrated, excited, sad, happy, tearful, and laughing out loud!! And now a bit about the story...
Cassie has left home for the love of her life, Brant. Her parents, Conner and Amy, do not approve of him -- after all a criminal is not right for their daughter. Brant had promised her a better life, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side. After stealing, getting high, and lid e only knows what else, Agent Logan Campbell arrests Cassie. She has so many regrets, will she ever be able to fix this mess and go home again?
Favorite passages: - I regretted our last moments together, and I wouldn’t blame her if she never wanted to see me again. - “Help yourself. I have no idea why I keep them. It’s not like I reread. There’s too much out there to explore.” - It was my house, and I wasn’t going to pretend to be someone else just to appease someone. If they didn’t like the real me, they weren’t worth my time. - “There’s nothing wrong with a woman who enjoys a big piece of meat.”
This is a unique coming of age book in which Cassie must learn to stand on her own; she must learn to understand her worth in this world and find the connection with those who value her and her convictions. Having lived a life feeling sheltered by her parents and struggling with the rejection she faced from her parent in regard to her boyfriend, Cassie finds herself leaving behind her family to follow the man her parents forbid her from seeing. With no clear idea of where she is headed, but trusting that her boyfriend will provide and prove everyone wrong, Cassie leaves to pursue a new life in Las Vegas. Will love be enough to save her boyfriend from the life he has lead? Will Cassie be strong enough to keep him on the straight and narrow?
Living a life in which crime is paying the way proves to be more than Cassie bargained for. Spiraling out of control and losing herself and her compass, will Cassie find her way back? Or will she simply become another statistic?
Jennifer Foor built a strong set of characters who struggled with some very difficult subjects: betrayal, crime, sex, drugs, murder, trust, and self-worth, and she added in a few twist and turns that gave a powerful ending to a difficult situation.
There has not been a book by Jennifer that I have not fallen in love with and Cassie's story is no different.
22 year old Cassie has been sheltered all her life and clueless about the horrible the world has in it. Cassie has gotten to the rebellious stage and while having been forbade to see her boyfriend Brant she is going behind their backs in order to continue to see the man she "loves" Cassie decided one day shes had enough sneaking around and decides she wants to move away with Brant so they can be together.
While running away they end up in Vegas the city that never sleeps and things are not as perfect as she thinks they are between the two of them. Cassie is starting to loose herself in the life of Vegas.
Can her and Brant make it through all the trials they are given? I wish I could write more about what happens in this book but honestly cannot without giving stuff away that you dont already expect!
Just know this book is not all you think it is. There is a lot more to it and I was hooked from the beginning and then about half way I was completely engrossed and could not put my Kindle down when there was a turning point that had me wanting to know everything as soon as possible.
I have to start by saying that I think Jenn Foor is amazing and I love the Mitchell/Healy family. I have loved all of these books. I am a little disheartened by this one. I felt like it was missing a lot of the story. Cassie starts out as a hot headed, my way or the highway girl. I was practically screaming at her through the first half of the book. Then she turned around and I had to change my opinion of her. Brantley is a contradiction. He talks one way and acts completely different. Logan is a stand-up guy and takes his job very seriously. He is the complete opposite of Brantley. I liked the storyline and the direction the story was going. I would have loved to have had more storyline in the second half of the book. It felt a little rushed. I would have loved to see more of the relationship progression. Of course, this will not deter me from any more books in the series because I am an addict when it comes to this family and this series.
I really liked the Mitchell series and thought reading about the kids would be great but sadly this series just isn't as good. Everyone is so messed up and the situations just seem to be getting more unbelievable. I'm also finding that there is so much repetition and back and forth with the same conversations/situations in each of the books that I'm skipping over parts.
I didn't find the way that Logan and Cassie came together to be believable at all...all of a sudden he's on his knees and licking away but there was no build up or sexual tension shown before the jacuzzi?!?! Everything seems so rushed and there wasn't even much time spent on the actual relationship, I'd say at best it's a HFN ending.
I was a huge release day reader of previous books but this one took a while to get to...I'll probably finish out the series (maybe??) but I won't be rushing out to do so ):
I absolutely love this series! With each book I think this is my favorite, well Cassie is my new favorite. As always Jenn doesn't disappoint.
Cassie leaves home to be with her boyfriend whom her parents don't like. Brant is a thief, a criminal and they don't want him for their daughter.
They head off to Vegas where Brant has a job waiting on him. Things go from bad to worse, that's where Cassie meets a FBI agent Logan. Cassie comes full circle and learns some valuable lessons.
If you haven't given the Mitchell's and the Healy's a chance, do so. You will not be disappointed. Jenn has a way of writing about issues that a lot of us have gone through or know someone going through them. Such a great series!!
I am new to the Mitchell/Healy Family series. This is my first look into this family.
Cassie is truly an insufferable brat in this book. She really is a character you will love to hate. Though I despised her, I found myself stuck in her world.
They say love is blind but geesh, this Brant guy is just all kinds of screwed up. I just struggled with how someone with such strong family values could spiral so far down.
Although I really was disgusted with the whole situation, I was addicted to this book. It really will suck you into this twisted mess. Most of these characters were really deplorable, except one! You will have to read it for yourself to find the one shining light in the world of depravity!
I get that Cassie pulled the old, "But I love him, it doesn't matter if you don't like him." At that age, everyone thinks that. I even get Cassie running away with Brant. Where things went off the rails for me was as Cassie fully engaged in criminal activities, got worse when she started doing drugs. I huffed out disgust when after Cassie's action caused Brant to die, she ended up in a relationship with the FBI guy that tried to save her. It had been less than a month and she was so "in love" with Brant, enough to leave her family. Not believable for me at all.

Cassie is in love but her parents don't like who she is in love with. Determined to show her parents she van make it in her own her and Brant up and leave to the big lights of Vegas. Promised with a new new life it soon becomes clear that the promises her boyfriend made came at a price. Cassie finds herself dragged into a life she never wanted.
When caught in a situation she is taken to the police station where she is given an ultimatum give the FBI what they need or go to jail.
What is she to do.
This is another amazing book by Jenn and will keep you turning the pages
I wasn' t sure when i started reading this story i was going to like it as much as sll of the other books, but it turned out to b one of my favorites! Cassie fell in love w a criminal, and her parents tried to stop it b4 she was in too deep. Cassie thought he was the world and decided to leave w him. When she realized what a mistake shed made it was too late. Shes in a world of trouble and to proud to call home. She has an angel, who could save her. Will she let someone in, read and find out! I cant wait for the next book. Must read!
Another great read from Jenn! It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you start from the very beginning of the Mitchell and Healy clan. They are all amazing reads!!
Jenn always gets me from the very first few pages of her books this one was no different. I loved the storyline and all the emotion that was in this book. There were a lot of surprises for me in this book but I loved every moment. This is a must read!!
Ms. Foor knows how to keep you on your toes! This book is written differently than the others in the series, yet I believe I love this one the most. Cassie has to grow up quickly and we get to witness that, as well as see her become her own person. This, just as other books by Jennifer, was a page-turner. I will definitely be watching for what is next! I was gifted this ebook in exchange for my honest review. Opinions in this review are my own.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Cassie is a unique coming of age story that proves a few bad decisions can lead you down a path you never dreamed possible. A lesson Cassie learns the hard way. I have loved this series from the very beginning, and while different from the others, this book definately did not disappoint. I hate spoilers in a review so I will just say this. Be prepared to be taken on an emotional roller-coaster, and bring tissues
This book is so wonderful. I love Cassie's story. Cassie is in love and listens to everything he says even when in her mind she knows it's not right. She ends up in Vegas and under some questionable circumstances. She goes through a lot there. She feels alone and she didn't end things well with her family and feels she can't go home. What will happen to her?
