Halfpenny Orphans #2
The Little Runaways
A gritty drama that will appeal to fans of The Throwaway Children and authors Nadine Dorries and Kitty Neale.
When little Terry and Nancy arrive at the door of St Saviour’s Children’s Home, they seem shellshocked after being orphaned in the fire that killed their parents. Terry is terribly damaged by his experiences, though the concerned staff, especially Angela Morton, suspect that there is something more sinister behind his disturbing behaviour.
Angela shares her anxieties with Mark Adderbury, a psychiatrist volunteering at the home. They’ve grown closer recently but Angela, still grieving the loss of her husband, feels that Mark needs more from her than she can give. Then why does she feel so jealous at the arrival of Staff Nurse Carole, who seems to have captured Mark’s attention?
They must all pull together to get to the bottom of what really happened to Terry and Nancy, but the truth may be harder to take than they realise . . .

Good follow up book, some old characters are back with a good mixture of new ones. The story of this book could easily been read as a one off too.

A very nice sequel of the series. The story on the children was very different from the first installment. I warmed towards some kids and I was very pleased when the kids from the first book made their return. Sharp discussed a heavy subject in this book, which she did very well. The book was gripping in places but lost its tension somewhat in the end, therefore a solid 4 stars.

Loved this follow-up to 'The Orphans of Halfpenny Street'. I would recommend you read the first in the series before this though otherwise you'll miss quite a bit about the characters.

As always, a sensational read. I love that Sharp carries on little parts of previous characters story even if it's not the main plot. And the new characters that are the main plot, are always well introduced. Seeing relationships being built between the colleagues and the children is wholesome and real. 5🌟 as this read almost made me tear up a little towards the end. Gripping from start to finish!

Again a good read
I've mentioned the repetitive nature in other books, but I have and I'm sure will continue to enjoyed each story as well as character development.

It took me a while to read this book as its pace was very slow and I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one. I think it's really helpful to have read the first one .Though having said that I did enjoy it

Not so good
This book was not nearly as good as other books I have read about that time period. I found I knew what was coming next.

Another brilliant book on the Halfpenny Street Orphans. You must read the first one to follow the story and characters in this book. Cannot wait for the next one to come out.
