Getting a passionate man like Rio McCaine to do what she wanted would be like breaking a stallion, Abbie realized. It would take a lot of work. Easy enough to change her own appearance --- to make herself seem more ladylike than perhaps she was, to present herself as the type of girl a man might want to marry --- but to get Rio to do everything she wanted, she'd have to resort to a lie. Ended up DNFing. The heroine is an insufferable control freak that has to have everything her way. Not to mention the fact that her half-sister is in this book preaching about their souls if they continue on their journey on the Sabbath. Oh and she’s a nun. Who would’ve thought, a nun in a romance novel. If I wanted a sermon I’d go to church, not read a romance novel.
Exhibit A:
“But we could make it to Kingston by tonight,” Rio pointed out. “You could do your praying once you got there.” Victoria got to her feet and held the Bible in front of her like a shield. “But today’s the Sabbath, and we’re not going to ride on the Sabbath. If you wish to go on ahead, feel free to do so. We’ll catch up with you sometime tomorrow.” “Ah, hell,” Rio mumbled. She was serious. And from Abbie’s expression, it seemed she was serious, too. They really weren’t going to ride today. “Any reason no one told me about this sooner?” “Because I was hoping Victoria would forget,” Abbie supplied. Gussie shook her head in disgust. “She never forgets.” “I’m trying to save your eternal soul, young lady.” Victoria crossed herself. “Now, it’s time for prayers. Everyone close your eyes and fold your hands.”
The heroine was just terrible imo and I just couldn’t finish. I made it to 46% but the sister nun just solidified my reasoning in not finishing. The hero was adorable and I also could not finish having to know he probably ends up staying married to the control freak.

Rio slapped a hand on his jeans to get rid of some of the dust. “We’ll all go.” He paused a heartbeat. “Unless Abbie wants to come up with a different plan.” She tried to scowl but failed. “Not this time.” She paused the same fraction of time that he had. “But maybe later.”

SADDLED by Delores Fossen, Saddle Up Series Book 1—Originally released in 2011 and now reissued with a new cover but the book’s size is 8.5 inches X 11 inches and in large print.
The story takes place in Fall Creek, Texas in the year 1881. The plot and characters are well-crafted, lively with dry humor. The hero, Rio McCaine, is hot and sexy without really trying. Abbie Donegan marries Rio, but she wasn’t expecting the fiery attraction she feels toward the cowboy she’s just saddled.

Saddled...a Sexy yet Sentiment Story!
I really fell in love with this book!
One of my favorite read in 2022! So happy to see that it is the very 1st book in a series!!!

Good afternoon entertainment
Abbie and her menagerie of family are highly entertaining along with all their misadventures with Rio caught constantly unaware but still holding together.

Extremely likable lead characters.I found myself laughing out loud alot while reading this book. Delores Fossen is an excellent writer.
