The Marked: The Complete Series Christa Kelley

I haven't actually got this boxset, but I read all the books individually as they came out and absolutely loved them. You're getting an absolute bargain.
I loved this series by Christa Kelley and I was hooked on her books as soon as I read the first one. Brandon, Bryce and Brian Mitchell are cursed were-bears thanks to Bryce, and all are destined to lose their mates when they find them. If Bryce hadn't got involved with the witch, Alana, they would have been able to be happy with their mates and none of this would have happened. Each book tells the story of one of the brothers and their mate.
1 - A Bear In Need (The Marked Series, Book 1)
Love can overcome so many obstacles, and in this wonderful book, it does. This was the first book I'd read by Christa Kelley and it certainly wasn't going to be the last. For a first book in the shape-shifter genre of paranormal romance, it's fantastic. I loved it and couldn't wait for the next one. I just couldn't put it down.
What was supposed to be a one-night stand with Lizzie turns Brandon's world upside down. She is his true mate and now he wants the curse broken so he can claim her. He goes looking for the strongest witch he can get to help him, but finds Liz instead. And then the trouble really starts....
This is a terrific book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The characters are varied and complex and the story grabbed me from beginning to end. It has everything you want or expect in an action packed paranormal romance. Humour, steamy bits, plot twists to follow, bad guys to fight, HEA and so much more. It is well written and although it could have used another pass by a proof-reader, the odd error didn't detract from the story and I gave it 5 stars. It's well worth reading and I was really looking forward to the next one.
2 - A Bear In Hiding (The Marked Series, Book 2)
What a really great read with a lot of surprises in store. Things aren't always what you think. I absolutely loved it and couldn't wait for the next one.
I really enjoyed reading 'A Bear in Need', book one of the series, and this one is as good, if not better. This paranormal romance follows true mates Brian and Emma as they try to overcome their personal demons. There is some action, a steamy bit or two, lots of surprising twists and turns, and I loved it.
This book has everything you want from a good paranormal romance. It's not as action packed as the first book, but there is some, as well both good and bad guys in unexpected places. I laughed and I cried while I read this book and my heart broke for both Emma and Brian. But they do get their HEA in the end. There are some really good characters in this story, but they aren't what you'd expect after reading book one. There are a lot of surprises in store and opinions of some characters, especially Alana, the witch who cursed the Mitchell brothers, may change as you read, mine certainly did, and I couldn't wait to read book three.
3 - A Bear In Charge (The Marked, Book 3)
Things aren't always what they seem and when the chips are down, Bryce and Alana put love first and finally get their HEA.
I really couldn't put this book down and who needs sleep anyway? Once I started reading, I was totally absorbed in the story until I got to the end. And then I wanted more. The books can be read as stand alones, but you'd be missing out on a couple of really great stories and this box set is an absolute bargain.
Forced to work together by the arrival of the truly evil warlock, Alavar, Bryce and Alana warily team up to try to save the Hollow, the source of the magic which sustains all of the supernatural beings in Star Lake, and bit by bit the reasons for the things that happened between them, things that have only been hinted at before, are told in all their misunderstood glory. Both of them are stubborn and pig-headed, each angry at the other for their perceived betrayal. They could have been together for the last 10 years if only they'd actually talked to each other about how they felt instead of putting their pride first. Now, as things are explained, past hurt and anger are put aside and they finally get their HEA.
I absolutely loved this book. It was well worth waiting for and tied up a lot of loose ends. I really enjoyed reading the various catch up epilogues for the others, but I was left wondering... does the teenage werewolf taken in by Brian and Emma have a name and will he appear again in the next series. Also, does Eric, the Hawk shifter, have a mate yet? I highly recommend this book and this series to anyone who loves shifters and likes their action packed paranormal romance to come with a happily ever after.

Love is a pure form of magic
This is a love story that is full of suspense and lots of surprises. It's got a curse and witches and shifters and family as well as lost friends. Liz Malone is back to her home town to take care of her grandmother’s estate but while at a bar that night she meets her school girl crush Brandon Mitchell. And when he sees her it's like a pull he has to follow. Later figuring out she's his mate but he can't have her because of a curse that will take her away if he mates her. Well written and very entertaining to read this self-contained story. And yet we have two more brothers that need to break their curse as well.

Deigning your other half
In this well written story, we get a glimpse of a different side of Alana’s. But the main story revolves around Brian and Emma who is on the run from her abusive Ex. But not knowing that the bear attack she had a few month ago did something to her. Brian tries to help her and almost gets himself killed. Emma’s determined to leave and Brian just knows she’s his mate but with the curse hanging over his head he just might have to let her leave. Well written and very enjoyable to read.

The truth revealed about Alana
This is the third book of the series and yet is still a self contained story. This is Bryce and Alana’s story and how so many things are not what they seem to be. Something is draining the Hollow of its magic and everyone presumes it may be Alana. But Alana what to know what’s happening along with everyone else since it effects her magic as well. Bryce is having a difficult time controlling his bear and it may just be that Alana is in the area or it may have something to do with the Hollow. I loved every one of the books in this series and this one is no exception. It’s well written and keeps your interest throughout the book and is very entertaining to read.

Three cursed bears and a bit of magic
A Bear in Need: What sacrifice is too much in the name of love? 4 Star 7/2/15
Home for the unfavorable task of settling her grandmother’s estate, Liz decides to drown her sorrows after a frustrating day of packing. And why should her trip to the local bar be any better? All she wants to do is avoid her old high school tormentors. Who should walk in? None other than Brandon, the guy she had the biggest crush on and he’s looking right at her. Figuring Brandon is a hot commodity and still out of her league she attempts to avoid him. But that’s just not happening.
Enticed by her witchy powers and a scent he can’t resist Brandon approaches the woman at the bar only to discover it's Lizzie and he definitely wants some of that. A few drinks later and he’s walking her back to her hotel where things get hot and heavy between the two. No one knows that there is a reason why Brandon is the king of one-night stands. He’s cursed. When he wakes and realizes Liz is his mate he slinks out the door. Unless he can find a cure for his curse no good can come of his mating Liz. Having a mate brings it all home for him and lights a fire under him to find that cure now.
Just so happens Liz is his best bet for finding a cure. While the above sets the stage it by no means conveys the challenges these two face. The sexual tension, hot sex, violent pursuit of their enemy and inner turmoil these two face sets an even pace. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
A Bear in Hiding: Sometimes love helps us find the strength within … 4 Star 7/11/15
At the start of A Bear In Hiding, Emma wakes in a jail cell with no immediate memory of why she’s there. She’s nervous and paranoid that her ex will find her. Distrustful of all men she’s reluctant to accept the help Brian offers. But amazingly she finds herself trusting him almost from the get go. She has no clue of her true nature since the bite. It takes Brian’s shocking reveal for her to acknowledge something inside is definitely different. In the ensuing days, she will have to come to terms with her duality, her growing attachment to Brian and her need to keep running. They’ll both have to deal with a witch with questionable motivation and an ex on her trail. Emma will need to find the strength within. Brian will need to come to grips with accepting his bear and learning the balance that has eluded him. Both are in need of healing from their pasts. Luckily they have each other to work through the issues.
While this was a good continuation of the series I have to admit to liking the first in the series more. A Bear In Need had just a bit more of a sense of urgency and a stronger sense of the villain. This book was a bit more angst-ridden rather than driven by the need to conquer their enemies. Don’t get me wrong I like a book with a bit of angst. I guess I just like that spark of danger a bit more. All in all, though I really did enjoy A Bear In Hiding.
A Bear in Charge: A perfect wrap up... A villainess that's not much of a villain after all 5 Star 8/15/15
This is the showdown the first two in the series have been leading to, Alana and Bryce. The first story A Bear in Need had you totally seeing Alana in the villain’s role. She is evil through and through. Well, that’s what it looks like anyways. Then along comes book two A Bear in Hiding and you discover Alana has a few redeeming qualities. There is enough alluding to he did her wrong and she did him wrong, I was getting anxious to figure out just who did what. In A Bear In Charge, we finally get a clue to what is going on. We also discover that Alana has her own demons that ride her. Life hasn’t been so easy since the loss of her family. She’s experienced abuse which led her down the road to dark magic. She’s felt unwanted. She’s felt betrayed. Is it any wonder she comes up short in the trust department? Alana has been doing for herself for so long she frankly doesn’t know how to trust someone else to be there for her. So when she perceived she’s been betrayed once again she packed up her bags, cast a curse and walked out the door leaving her mate behind.
Bryce is the oldest of three bear shifters and he’s been left with the responsibility of two siblings and guarding the secrets of the Hollow. A decade ago he was very much in love with Alana and she chose magic over him. Now he’s a surly and cantankerous ole bear with little patience. Bryce is also having the devil of a time with his inner bear. It’s a constant fight from moment to moment to stay in control. Recent events involving Alana have him totally on edge. His bear wants his mate and the human wants nothing to do with the evil witch. Well, that’s what he tells himself anyways. Now something is wrong with the magic in the Hollow. Shifter’s are changing and not being able to return to their human forms. After dealing with a near disaster of discovery Bryce, his siblings and their mates head to the heart of the hollow to figure out just what is happening. Perhaps he could have gone on pretending he was fine if he hadn’t scented his mate. Alas, life doesn’t work that way.
What Alana has already discovered and what the rest soon figure out is that the magic is draining from the Hollow. Of course, they’re all ready to blame it on Alana. Just one problem with that little notion, Alana’s magic is tied to the Hollow as well. She has her work cut out for her convincing them all to work with her to solve the mystery and protect the Hollow. There is evil afoot and it’s going to take some major sacrificing to make things right. If they are all lucky they’ll save the Hollow, Bryce and Alana will rediscover their love and trust and everyone will get their HEA. Well, I’ll let you guess how that turns out. Just know there will be a few challenges to deal with and battles to be won. All in all this was a great ending to the series. I understand Ms. Kelley has plans for another series in this world and I’m looking forward to seeing what she comes up with.

Bryce is the oldest of three bear shifters and he’s been left with the responsibility of two siblings and guarding the secrets of the Hollow. A decade ago he was very much in love with Alana and she chose magic over him. Now he’s a surly and cantankerous ole bear with little patience. Bryce is also having the devil of a time with his inner bear. It’s a constant fight from moment to moment to stay in control. Recent events involving Alana have him totally on edge. His bear wants his mate and the human wants nothing to do with the evil witch. Well, that’s what he tells himself anyways. Now something is wrong with the magic in the Hollow. Shifter’s are changing and not being able to return to their human forms. After dealing with a near disaster of discovery Bryce, his siblings and their mates head to the heart of the hollow to figure out just what is happening. Perhaps he could have gone on pretending he was fine if he hadn’t scented his mate. Alas, life doesn’t work that way.
What Alana has already discovered and what the rest soon figure out is that the magic is draining from the Hollow. Of course, they’re all ready to blame it on Alana. Just one problem with that little notion, Alana’s magic is tied to the Hollow as well. She has her work cut out for her convincing them all to work with her to solve the mystery and protect the Hollow. There is evil afoot and it’s going to take some major sacrificing to make things right. If they are all lucky they’ll save the Hollow, Bryce and Alana will rediscover their love and trust and everyone will get their HEA. Well, I’ll let you guess how that turns out. Just know there will be a few challenges to deal with and battles to be won. All in all this was a great ending to the series. I understand Ms. Kelley has plans for another series in this world and I’m looking forward to seeing what she comes up with.

Can you imagine this cute little cuddly bear
all soft and furry? Then he grows up and he is Big ole Grizzly Bear that can stand straight up to where he's over 6 ft tall only to see him change into this naked well endowed, muscle-building , most beautiful man you ever seen smiling at you. Well there are three Mitchell Brothers living at Star Lake they worked in the woods guarding " The Hollow " just like their dad before them.
Brandon Mitchell was a skirt chaser he do anything to take his mind off the burn on his arm. Him and his brothers were cursed by a witch. Liz short for Elizabeth Malone never thought she would come back to this town.
She had to come back to settle her grandmother's estate she'd been packing and looking for the book all day, guess she was staying another day. She just had to find it, then she would be on her way back to Virginia where she belonged. Than Liz saw Brandon and all the old feelings came back, she had such a crush on him in high school. This is a great book I loved it, not to many books you don't know what happening next it fantastic. You have Adventure, Betrayal, Fear , Rage and of course my favorite Hot Sex.

I've said in only a few of my reviews that if they gave a 100 stars, that will still be not enough Star's for this Book.
When Ms. Kelley wrote this book she wove into her story line a topic that many women hide or are ashamed that they think they are ignorant and weak so they stay in an abusive relationship because they think it's their fault. "Spousal Abuse".
Brian Mitchell went to the Jail House that the sheriff's request, just in time to see a beautiful women running smack dab into him. It took all of his strength to hold back his Bear who was raging to get out.
What's does a girl have to do? Keep running, she can't stop if she does he could get her and it would be all over, she'd be back in ER, not that she wasn't used to that. BUT still Emma had to keep running, always feeling sick lately it was hard, but she can't be caught.

**blowing my nose**** Ohhh I loved this Series. You see life isn't perfect, there are battles, if you fight on the "white" good side
you are right. It might be tuff BUT you'll win.
Bryce Mitchell was losing control of his bear, for some reason his bear takes over and always wants to fight. It seems to be getting worse. And that's not all shifters were only partially shifting with no control and a few couldn't come back from the shift. Something was definitely wrong and they had to find out what. Liz and Brandon went with Bryce to the Hollow, Liz being a witch also could see something is wrong she could feel it. Both Bryce and Brandon could feel something was off and he just found out Alana is back in Star Lake.
They all hated Alana for her past, well Bryce was a love/hate. But it didn't matter or did it? Alana knew something evil was happening, but what? I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review.
I have to say i enjoyed this book greatly.
In the first book of the series we meet Brandon and Lizzie.
He is a bear shifter cursed to never be able to have his mate.
She is a witch links to an evil witch and the mate of Brandon.
Her life is in danger and his is cursed can they make it together and work things out?
A funny filled with action ,quick paced story that will keep your interest and make you want to learn more about this family
Well written with very intresting characters this series looks reaaally promising!!!!
Can't wait to read more!!!!

The second book is the story of Bryce and Emma.
Emma is running away from an abusive ex when she wakes up in jail and after a while learns she is a bear shifter.
Bryce tries to help Emma though he can't help himself and his bear.
When emma's ex shows up its up to her and Bryce to make.
Can they both move over their issues with their bears and face Emma's ex and be together???
A heart warming story that will make you go "aawwww" many times.
Well written with nice development and nice characters the second book of the series doesn't disappoint at all!!!!

I have to say that i am sad to see this series ending.
On the other hand i am extremely happy that i got to read it and see everyone getting their HEA.
Alana after 10 years returned to Star Lake but something is going wrong.The towns magic is weakening
She decides to go investigate but once in the Hollow she comes up against Bryce...Her mate and the one she cursed along with his brothers.
Bryce can't believe that Alana has the nerve to once more screw them over.No matter what she is guilty for everything only thing is that his bear wants his mate back and is ready to roll over just for one touch from her.
Thing is noone is ready to forgive Alana and Alana has to protect the magic of the town cause if the magic is gone is will be unprotected against an old enemy and the Mitchell Brothers will be stuck in bear form for ever.
Can they work together to make it?
Can they forgiv and forget?
An excellent ending to an amazing series!!!!!
Once more Christa Kelley has made my heart beat faster and feeling like i was in the book and in the action .
I really loved reading the epilogues for each couple and seeing how their lives turned out.
The book is well written and Christa ties up many loose ends.It was well worth the waiting.

This is the first time I have read this author. I enjoyed the boxset and getting to read about the Mitchell brothers and their curse on finding a mate, how to get rid of the curse. Lots of drama, hot werebears and strong women.
