Desire filled Sara O'Rourke when she saw Jordan Bandor across the crowded room. For months she had lived free of his web of pleasure that had left no room for work or friends. But, now that her life was in danger, Jordan was prepared to risk anything to save her--even giving her up forever.

"Man from Half Moon Bay" is one of the best romantic stories i have read by Iris Johansen. It was so thrilling, raw, amusing and sexy!Interviewer Sara O’Rourke left her husband eighteen months because of his over-bearing ways that made her feel smothered. Now with a psycho serial killer free and ready to make her the next victim, her protective husband Jordan Bandor comes back into her life and promises he will change himself for the better for him to win back her heart.
I was nerly crying by the end because this story was so bittersweet and seductive!Sara with her stubborn mind and Jordan with his dark sensuality and his rugged looks with the black eyes-patch made him so sexy that i drooled with the way he romanced his wife back to him.He loves her so much that it pains him to not be near her and thats so sweet!!!I love how he strands her on a island just to keep her safe, and had rather risk her hating him than her losing her life.I also liked his step-brother Cam Bandor who also have his own book later on,he brought much light to the story.I adored Sara and Jordan, and also found it hilarious how the tables turned when it was Sara seducing him instead.Ah,romance about married couples are always the best!
This is the first book I read by this author, and I have to say that I love scarred heros 😍 The hero with the eye patch on the cover called my attention, then I read other readers' reviews and added to my lists. WOW! I could say this is one of the most possessive, bessoted, and obsessive hero I have found in Harlequinlandia 🤯 but I liked him (only on the stories, not in real life 😁). Heroine on the other hand, what a "martyr" 🙄 I wouldn't ever do what she did on this book, it was so dangerous 😱 I think I will check other books by this author, I hope I like them.
"Man from Half Moon Bay" is the second chance romance between Jordan and Sara. 18 months ago Sara ran away from her husband Jordan due to his over-possessive nature. Now, when her life is in danger, he returns, and she realizes the sparks never died.. We have a OTT, crazy, possessive, jealous hero who is utterly devoted to the heroine, a strong yet determine and brave heroine, super smokin' love making scenes and some ground breaking revelations. Liked how the characters grew in the book, and love me a loving husband! Kept me intrigued from starting to end. Safe 4.5/5
An early Iris Johansen novel, you can already see her bent towards suspense, although this is a category romance.
The Hero and heroine are likeable enough and their problems were real enough to begin with. The couple are separated, the wife left her husband since he was an overly controlling and possessive freak. Not allowing her a career, friends and was even jealous of his own brother. That does sound like the start of an abusive relationship, so she left him. He is back, remorseful, promises to change and court her. So far so good.
Then he manipulates her (one of her original complaints against him) again for her own good. The back story is that she is being stalked by a killer she helped catch. The hero just wants to protect her by being with her. She freaks out and throws him out again. Anyway the killer is on the lose, so her office arranges to send her to a deserted island for protection, but the Hero is there to watch over her. Instead of feeling reassured she freaks again. By this time I was exasperated with the immature idiot heroine. She tries to run off, slips on some stones and hurts herself. The Hero is so guilt-ridden that he decides he is bad for the heroine and backs off completely.
The bump on her head must really have been the catalyst for her, since suddenly she decides that she does wants her husband back. And this is where it lost a star...she is now doing all the pursuing and the Hero is determinedly pushing her away. It was just so ridiculous how they abruptly changed roles. That really was some bump on the head!!
Anyway suddenly the killer finds out they are on the island, arrives on a sailboat (?) gets into a knife fight with the Hero, apparently the Hero was all to willing to die for her, but doesn’t he realise that if he had been killed, then she would have been totally exposed to the killer. Anyway the heroine screams for the killer to go to her instead, which he does, instead of killing the Hero first. Then as they chase each other on, the slippery rocks, he falls into the surf and drowns. So...serial killer dispatched in one page.
Hmmm.. then all is well and she threatens to get the most dangerous assignments (she’s a reporter) if the Hero refuses to go back to her. So being the possessive controlling man that he is, he would never allow that...and they get their HEA.

Quite different from usual writers. Basic writing and short book. The h was comfortable telling her brother in law how his brother only provided sex. Uhh no.
This is an old book but it doesn't really feel like one. I loved the hero !! Jordan had me going aww here and there. His character is very difficult and rigid with some serious issues but he tries really hard to become someone better to get his wife back. Sara was a strong character and I admired how she handled her marriage with Jordan. It was really good and I loved how dedicated and in love Jordan was with Sara.
This book was not one of Iris Johansen's best. In my opinion, there was too much focus on having sex and not enough substance. It was, however, entertaining.
