Four years ago, after Cory Brandel's passionate affair with Sheikh Damon El Karim ended, she gave birth to his son - and kept it secret from him. When Damon finds out the truth, he kidnaps the boy and takes him across the world to his desert kingdom, knowing that Cory will follow.
Damon vows to punish Cory for depriving him of his son and heir, but does he really mean to imprison her in his palace until she surrenders to him? It is savage, unthinkable - but because she is fighting for her son, Cory has no choice. Time seems to have deepened the alarming heat of her attraction to this desert pirate, and Cory knows he has only to stoke her body and she will go up in flames. In rage, Damon had intended to bind Cory to him by force, but instead he is bewildered by his need for her touch. Until now, Cory never understood Damon's loneliness, but is she strong enough to give him the enduring love that he needs?

"Strong, Hot Winds" is the story of Cory and Damon. Sheikh Damon recieves the shock of his life, when an ex flame Cory he has been tracking leads to the discovery that he has a son..Michael! Knowing the laws of US, and his lack of name on the birth certificate- he decides the best way to gain his offspring is by kidnapping him and his guardians, as well as blackmailing his ex to be his kiran, or mistress. Cory had a one night, mutually satisfying, stand with Damon after which both of them part ways. She later gives birth and keeps it to herself. Soon she is whisked away to Sedikhan, where she learns about the man himself and his battle with loneliness- and they engage in a war of love, passion and revelations. One of Iris's earlier works, this is filled with angst, an obsessive hero and super hot lovemaking- mixed with heavy emotions. We start with despising the hero and end with doing the same to the heroine- but by the end the things balance out well. Sweet ending. Unsafe 3/5
I loved this book. I have read it before back in the wonderful days of Loveswept books. I miss Loveswept. I had them delivered to my house each month and I could wait until they got there. This particular book is by Iris Johansen who has gone on to great success with the Eve Duncan series. Strong, Hot Winds is from her earlier style of books. The classic romance book where the hero and heroine know they love each other but for their own reasons feel they must stay away from each other, then they reunite and have a wonderful happy ever after ending. These kinds of romances are my favorite. I read romances because I don't have much in my real life so I live vicariously through these wonderful romances. Keep them coming authors.
I have too many other books I want to read to waste my time on a book that I am not enjoying. Perhaps I will finish it another time but more than likely this will go on paperbackswap.com for someone who wants to read it more than me. :)
Heroine was too self absorbed to notice anything that was happening around her. I actually felt sorry for Damon cause it was obvoius he felt deeply for her and she was strugling with bugs in her head through the whole book. She imagined something and then kept holding to it even though it wasn't logical. Then suddenly she changed her mind and they now suppose to live happily ever after. Not sure I'm buying what author is trying to sell.
this was a quick read i got it in at the library thinking that it was a new one when i started reading realized that this sounded like an early work checked the publication date and it said 1988 then thought that it might be one of those thin books still a good fast read but i can tell the difference between her early work and now
Totally enjoyed as an audiobook selection. Took me away as I slog through my daily commute! If the cover of the audiobook had looked like the one above . . . well, not sure I would have read.
Didn't finish this book. It did not hold my attention against the other books I am reading. I think I'd finish it if I had nothing else to read on vacation. Sorry!
