H is fu***ng cheater drug addict and an alcoholic. Started reading in the first chapter he misses the appointment at the doctors to check on the pregnancy the h goes to his condo and sees him having sex with OW. DNF!
WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS CHEATING AND DRUG ADDICTION. STAY THE HELL AWAY IF YOU CANNOT COPE. DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE AGAINST CHEATING.
It is to my disappointment that I had to DNF this book. I loved Gabe (Heartbreaker, #1). But sadly, Nico simply didn't make the cut.
I loved the entire premise of the story. With Nico having a traumatic past which transcended time and was the cause for all his wicked ways (which I thought was fabulously portrayed). I also loved that Nico had Italian origins, which makes him a lover and a smooth talker in that oh so amazing sexy accent. Jill was strong and I was most appreciative of her stance. I am in full support of independent women, single mothers or otherwise.
What I honestly could not stand was the pace of the book. It was slow and drawn out. Along with too, and I mean too much time and detail was spent on the child rather than on Jill and Nico's relationship. I understand Nicola made up a greater part of the book, however, I honestly, don't need to know every time she had to have a nappy changed or a bath or even when she smiled.
As much as redemption and second chances was the entirety of the novel, it absolutely lacked finesse. I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters. Nico was boring and I actually preferred him as a drug addicted man whore. Jill, well she was seriously monotonous in her portrayal. She had no flare. The only good thing was when she kicked Nico out of their lives. Other than that, she was to wishy washy for my liking.
Please note this is simply my opinion.
*ARC provided on behalf of the author for an honest review* Thanks!
This book is honestly like a badly written fanfiction. Everything is rushed, barely there sequence which made it all hard for me to connect with the characters.
But my biggest problem was the cheating part. I'm sorry but if you're a cheater than you're lower than the ground I walk on. There's no excuse for it. No amount of sob story is gonna make me symphatize you. Nada. Quite frankly, I'm kind of offended people would think I would buy some petty excuses.
Yes, I'm looking at you, Nico. Fuck you very much.
Also, I hate women characters who take their cheaters back without so much as a fight. God please! You deserve better. Even if you're in love with the Douche (hey I never claimed to understand how love works) at the very least MAKE HIM GROVEL 'TILL YOU'RE FCKING SICK OF IT.
Yes, I'm looking at you Jill. I expected better from you.
Self note: hell no! This is what a reviewer said H is fu***ng cheater drug addict and an alcoholic. Started reading in the first chapter he misses the appointment at the doctors to check on the pregnancy the h goes to his condo and sees him having sex with OW.
Supposedly they are not technically together I don't freaken care I could never forget ! Yuck!
Wow, cheating on your pregnant GF, while she's at a doctors appointment (where he should be) is really just uggh. Seriously, if it's your kid you should at least care enough to be there!
**The GR entry is a bit of a mess. It has the first book’s blurb and isn’t attached if you click on the series link. If you look in the kindle store… all three are connected and Nico’s blurb is listed. Cliff notes version- Jill Swanson has loved Nico Bianchi since she was 18. She’s focused on taking care of her baby when Nico’s mom calls asking her to come to Italy where she’ll see him again. Nico is clean and sober and wants to win his family back.**
2.5 Stars Nico is the second book in the Heartbreaker series. I didn’t read the first book, but I did download it and searched/skimmed their scenes to see if I missed anything major. It wasn’t much, but if you read this as a standalone, you’ll miss their introduction. So, here’re those deets…
Nico and Jill are the best friends of book one’s couple. She’s also that H’s (Gabe) little sister and met Nico when she was 18. They’ve had an on/off thing over the years, never official, it read like on the DL random hookups. Their friends/families had no clue until she got pregnant. Nico is addicted to alcohol, drugs, and sex according to Gabe, but that addiction is never mentioned in this book.
This book starts with Nico missing another OB appointment, and Jill walking in on him in a compromising position. She’s had enough and is done with his shit. Stuff happens, Nico goes to rehab, and then we FFW 14-months later. The baby is a year old, and she soon heads out to Italy.
I always struggle rating these types of reads. It’s like eating toast. It’s not repulsive but not brimming with flavor either. It is what it is… an easy, plain breakfast that will soak up my coffee. Nico wasn’t good or bad… just sort of blah. The writing was fine, but it generated zero emotions. The characters faced obstacles, but I never felt like I knew/understood them… never connected… so I received no rage or angst. We’re told they love each other, but not shown any progression.
Bottom Line- Meh. It is what it is… an easy, bland second chance romance with no feels. Solidly sitting right in between good and bad… at 2.5 ⭐’s… but since GR doesn’t give us that option… I’ll just do want I usually do… round up because it was free to read with KU. :)
Great addition to this series. This book was sweet, sexy, passionate, romantic, intense, and had a beautiful second chance romance. This author gave us a heartwarming and gut wrenching storyline that spoke deep to my soul. I laughed. I cried. I smiled. I swooned. I fell in complete and utter love. While this book is a standalone, I would read book one as it is a nice transition to this book.
This is Jill and Nico's story. Jill and Nico find themselves in quite a predicament. But things are way more complicated than they should be. Fast forward months and now Nico and Jill find themselves face to face. No matter the hurt. No matter the distance. They have a bond that is unbreakable and enough chemistry to light a fire. Can they move on from the hurts of the past to the future?
Oh boy... these two had me on pins and needles. Yes I wanted to smack Nico but he had scars that made him do what he did. I am glad he finally woke up, got help and sought out redemption. And Jill, what a saint to do what she did. Th strength... the courage... I was just in absolutely awe of her. While I loved Gabe (and seeing him in this book!), Nico holds a special place for me.
H constantly cheats on pregnant h. Opening scene consists of the h waiting for the H because they have an appointment with the doctor about their baby (to find out its sex). H is a no-show so she goes to his apartment afterwards and finds him having sex with another woman.
Please note that this is my personal opinion and that the review is about the book and not the author.
Well it is official but I can't do it. I'm really sorry but I just can't finish the book. For me it is a DNF at 53%. It takes either a very brave or a very foolish woman to forgive something like that no matter what the circumstances are.
There were really touching moments when it came to this book but there were also times where I wanted to throw a hissy fit. Nico needs personality transplant.
So Jill and Nico met when she was 18. He was instantly attracted to her but thought he didn't deserve her so over ten years he hurt her, he cheated on her and behaved in the worst possible way ever. Now I consider myself to be a tolerant person but, I'm actually speechless.
I'm sorry I don't get it. She knew all along. Her brother was friends with him and they still had contact. No I'm sorry but blood is supposed to be thicker than water.
It deals with topics that are of importance; drugs and alcohol and that was done in a really tasteful matter.
There were too many 'I this and I that' in the book for me anyway.
I really don't know what to write. I can't base it on any other of the books by the author as this is the first book that I have read from her. I can't and won't give it any stars. Please accept my sincerest aopolgies I wish this author all the best for the future.
This book is intense because it dealt with some real issues; alcoholism, drug abuse and cheating. Some might find these topics a no-go but let’s be real – THESE ARE REAL LIFE ISSUES. Nico’s story is an emotional read and lord knows it tested my patience many times, but I am glad I stuck it out. If you’ve read Gabe’s book you know a little about Nico and Jill. Their journey transpired over years and Nico has put Jill though so much pain, but she loved him.
What would you do if you walk into your boyfriend’s apartment, heavily pregnant only to find him in bed with another woman? For Jill that was the finally straw, Nico has broken her heart and promises too many times, now she has to focus on her baby and no longer the man. Things for Jill go from bad to worse that day, but she manages to pull through and move on with her life. I am going to tell you why I loved this characters. Her heart still loved the man but her focus was solely on their daughter. Jill has not seen nor spoken to Nico in over a year, until she gets a phone call from Italy. Nico’s mother has cancer and her only wish is to see her granddaughter.
You know that saying you have to hit rock bottom for a person to get better? That is the case with Nico. Not even seeing the pain, disgust and hurt in Jill’s eyes was Nico able to see all the wrong he did. NO what broke Nico was almost losing Jill and their unborn child because of his destructive ways. Nico has always managed to win Jill back, but this time it was different, Jill was done. During the course of a year, Nico seeks help for his addictions and move back home to Italy, only seeing glimpses of his daughter, Nicola. So I know I should hate this characters, and let me assure you I did, but what changed for me was his remorse, his sense of guilt and his determination to make things right. Although he loved Jill and his daughter, he knew his addiction damaged their relationship and it was his turn to give Jill want she wanted.
There is so much pain and devastation between Jill and Nico that even a simple conversation is volatile. I loved how the author slowly wrote Nico and Jill’s journey, not leaving any of the ugly out. I truly appreciated and connected with the characters and their story. It was not a simple to forgive, it took work, a lot of work but their connection and bond is very intense. Nico and Jill have their work cut out, but can you forgive infidelity? Can you get past constant disappointments? How strong and powerful is love? Is it enough to forgive and move forward?
Rachel's Review~ I don't understand why there are so many 1 star and bad reviews...This is fiction...it is a story...if you don't like the content, don't read it...but don't leave a bad review when you DON'T FINISH THE STORY or care for the content...that is just in poor taste. Just because the story isn't for you doesn't mean it should get 1 star.
This is Nico and Jill's story. I didn't read Heartbreaker 1 (Gabe and Jasmine's story) nor have I read anything else by Evan Grace so I was pleasantly surprised. The storyline itself starts right off with a bang. I don't know if there was a lot of Nico and Jill in "Gabe" but we're starting right out with Jill, 7 months preggers, walking in on Nico and some HO having sex. She runs and crashes...
Nico heads to rehab and then home to Italy...
This isn't a story of boy meets girl and falls in love happily ever after...this is a story of redemption; making up for wrongs committed against the one you already know you love.
The characters were great. Loved Nico and Jill. The writing was great! The storyline a little different even for a second chance at love story, and I really enjoyed it.
Looking for an entertaining, spicy, second chance at love story that's part of a series of great characters????
I don't like cheating, and although the 'hero' doesn't promise to be exclusive, she is pregnant yet he treats her really really badly, it is excused through a tortured past that led to alcohol and drugs but i don't like this sort of book.
Years pass and they have dealings with each other again and sort out the hurt and the misunderstandings.
Cheating as Jill sees it more than once. Nico is an addict because his father slept with his wife for 6 years and the baby he thought was his was his fathers. The family, his mom and sisters were devastated. So he cheats on Jill and fucks in front of the woman he loves because he got hurt. She gets pregnant and nico says he loves her will try. He misses the ultrasound and she goes to see him and finds a blond riding him and him holding her hips. Asshole. Never would I forgive that shit. He gets help after but who cares. Who gets past that shit????

He cheated on the preg h while she was at the doctors office. She goes to his condo to see why he didn’t show and sees him fucking ow.
+ he constantly cheats on the preg h.
+but it’s not cheating because he told her that he will not be exclusive and won’t be faithful, and she was ok with that just to have him. So he was fucking ow in her face and she accepted and took it like a doormat. I am more disgusted at this h than the man slut H.
Romantic love story.👌
(Also there seems to be an error with GR. When clicking on reviews, look at the top, some reviews are showing Gabes book, and not Nico- the piece of shit cheater. My self note was for the book Nico. ).
This book was alright only because I hated both main characters. He was an asshole cheater of the highest order. She knew he was a drug addicted man slut AND he told her early on that he would never be exclusive with her AND he paraded the women he banged in front of her. So I was confused as to why she was surprised and hurt to find him with having sex with some random chick when he was supposed to be with her at a prenatal check up. I was even more confused when she immediately took him back after he told her why he treated her like shit.
If you like going through every single step of what she is doing... I type on my computer and then i get up and have some breakfast - avocado and poached egg on toast, I poached the egg in just the right amount of vinegar and my egg is runny, I put some salt on it but not pepper. As ate my breakfast Nico came in he was wearing a pair of tan shorts with a white long sleaved button shirt and tennis shoes with white socks that reach his ankles, his black thick hair had gel and styled of his face in sweeps. I really want him to have a relationship with his daughter I do love him but I can not be with him and I will just try to give him time with his daughter.....
Get the drift?
So wooden. So boring. Lack of emotions portrayed by bad writing style. Add to that a weak heroine. Weak cheating hero. A quick reconciliation. No angst - even when she catches him in bed with another woman I felt no angst.
Surprisingly decent sexy time scenes. Very weird that parts of those were actually hot where as the rest was so hollow.
OMG she cracks onto him when he hasn't apologised, grovelled or anything. In fact he has lived in Italy and not made an effort (after the first emails and calls) to try and win her back and she seduces him???? WTF? That just lost it a star. No respect TSTL heroine. Now I'm getting pissed off. SHE is apologising to HIM. WTF?
They knew each other for ten years 6 of those they were lovers, at least 1 of those it was serious (though he was a cheating lying jerk) and she didn't know he was married once? Fuck of this. This story is just so stupid. Why am i still reading it? It gets worse. He explains why he was fucked up and his reason for abandoning her and his daughter for the last year and she agrees to try to give them a go. WHAT?????? That's it? WHAT????
And then later she says, "Nico, I dont regret any of it. Even the bad as bad as it was." WTF??? You dont regret that he cheated on you, that you walked in on him fucking another woman while you were almost 8 months pregnant which then caused you to have a car accident and almost loose the baby and then he was to chicken shit to come near you for a year and you had to go to him and you had to seduce him? THis girl has zero self respect.
I'm still not sure what I'm more annoyed about. The really bad writing that is monotone and unrealistic or the story line/plot and characters that are weak and ridiculous. I'm actually surprised that I even care.
he then hurts her again and she forgives him without preamble. I'm actually laughing now at how ridiculous this story is.
This is a really really bad.

I have been waiting for Nico's story for a while. I knew that it would lead me on a emotional ride and I was not disappointed at all. There were times that I wanted to reach through the pages and slap the tar out of Nico but then there were times that my heart broke for him. This book does deal with drug addiction and cheating among other things. That being said it is also about redemption and second chances. Nico and Jill have an uneasy past. When the book begins Nico is in the prime of his addiction and self destruction while poor Jill is trying to hold onto what's left of her heart. Nico has let her down at every turn and on the day she needed him he was a bit too busy.
That is awful! Trust me but the event that takes place immediately after is enough of a wake up call for Nico that he asks Gabe, Jill's brother and his best friend, for help. We fast forward a bit and Jill is asked to go to Italy by Nico's mother. She knows that Nico is there and in the end decides that he needs to meet and know his child. It is there that we learn of Nico's demons and the problems he had. While there times I wanted to slap Nico I wanted to punch his sister at first. She was hateful! All in all this could easily be anyone's story and I can't wait for the next one. I loved this one as much as I loved Gabe.
I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was first published at Blushing Reads.
I love Romancelandia men who get caught with their coked up dick in another woman and think their pregnant girlfriend whom they’ve been ghosting owes them a moment to explain.
I can’t believed I worked so hard to track down a copy of this. It was a terribly boring snooze fest after the first chapter.
Another cheater who found the path to redemption. Unfortunately this book had all the right ingredients but it just lacked depth and emotion for me. An okay read, but nothing to set it apart.
Blurb: Jill Swanson has loved Nico Bianchi since she was eighteen, but how much heartbreak can one woman take before she’s utterly broken?
After a tough year and a half Jill’s main focus is on raising her infant daughter and doing the best that she can with her situation. When a call from Nico’s mother sends Jill and her daughter to Perugia, Umbria, Jill’s faced with the one man that shattered her heart and left her a changed woman.
She didn’t expect to still have feelings for him, but now her main focus was being there for his mom and letting him get to know his child.
Nico Bianchi spent ten years sabotaging his own happiness out of fear that history would have a way of repeating itself…
Now sober and healthier than ever he’s ready to fight for his family. But just when he’s finally gotten through to Jill, ghosts from the past reappear and test his sobriety, threatening to ruin his new life. If he sabotages things again he knows, he will lose his family for good this time.
Are soul-mates destined to be together?
Jill wants more than anything to believe that she and her daughter are finally going to get their happily ever after. But with Nico’s past coming back to haunt him, she comes face to face with the reality that no matter how strong her love is for him, it might not be strong enough…and she may just lose him forever.
Will Nico finally rid himself of the demons that haunt him once and for all?
Or will Jill have to walk away to protect herself…and their child?
If you, like me, enjoy an angsty story full of betrayal and emotional intensity, there’s a good chance that you’ll enjoy this story. Yes, Nico is a drug addict and alcoholic. But he does get clean and comes to fully realize the pain and misery that he put Jill through. And what’s more important, he repents and feels remorse. He’s a deeply flawed and imperfect human. If you want a fairy tale, this isn’t for you. This books contains real life issues. Yeah, Nico is a bastard for cheating on Jill and treating her the way that he did, but I personally appreciate the author’s courage in tackling such a very real and pervasive issue. Are addicts not worthy of love and forgiveness? Can they not get clean and stay clean? Yes, yes, and yes. I never saw Nico as a villain or as completely hopeless. I really liked the tenderness and genuine love he felt and showed for Jill and their daughter Nicola. He made the decision to get clean and stay clean for them. I very much appreciated that he showed real emotion, from sorrow for his previous actions to deep devotion for his baby. There’s even a scene where he cries! I’m not sure what more he could have really done to prove to Jill that he truly loved her and had changed. I was prepared to dislike him in the beginning of the book but he showed such humility and quiet sincerity that I did come to believe that he’d really changed. He took all the blame and never tried to downplay the extent of his wrong doings and guilt.
Overall this was a moving and angsty read that I enjoyed.

I'm totally addicted to this author's writing hook line and sinker. Gabe is fantastic but Evan Grace took it up a notch in Nico, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!
Jill Swanson has been in love with Nico Bianchi since she was 18 years old. But he's put her through more heartbreak than any one person should ever go through in life, that he's completely broken her. Now she's focused on raising her baby daughter, and doing the best she can. When Nico's mother calls her to come to Umbria, with a health issue, so she can finally meet her granddaughter, she agrees. When she gets there, she comes face to face with Nico again. The feelings are still there but can Nico convince Jill to give him one more chance?
This book tore my heart out, and stomped on it before shoving it back in stitched up. It is an emotional roller coaster ride that I seriously needed motion sickness pills for. The character development is fantastic, with rockin secondaries. An intense, highly addicting, well written story line flows perfectly. Evan Grace is very talented in writing stories that shred me emotionally, but adds well placed humor that makes me die laughing. The chemistry is delicious, leading to very EXPLOSIVE sexy scenes that had me flushed. I was captivated from the very beginning, and my heart raced cover to cover. I cannot wait for the next book in the Heartbreaker series, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
“My eyes drift down, and I watch as she brings my palm to her mouth. With the softest and smoothest of lips, she kisses it. She’s always had the best lips. I should stop her. I swore if she gave me another chance, we’d take it slow, but damn if I don’t want to bury myself so far deep inside her that she never forgets who she belongs to.”
4 heartbreaking stars!!! I love this series so much and book two proves why I do!! This is a great book and definitely worth the read!
Jill has always loved Nico since she was a teenager, 18 to be exact. But Nico has broken her heart one too many times. Now she’s raising her infant daughter and trying to become the woman she’s always hoped she would. But when she get's a phone call from Nico’s mom saying she needs to get to Umbria to see him, she rushes out there with her daughter. While there she hopes that she’ll get the happily ever after that she has always wanted for herself and her daughter. But with Nico’s past constantly popping back up into their lives to ruin them, will they make it??
This book had so much heart and it shatters you at times!! As much as you want to hate Nico for everything he’s put Jill through, you pull for him because you know he loves her. I loved this series!! It’s so worth the read!!!

3.5 stars! ******I was gifted this in exchange for an honest review on raesrockinreviews.blogspot.com******* Nico is the second book in the heartbreakers series, a tale of true love, redemption and self discovery only going to Italy and and familial support will fix what is broken. Jill is over being hurt and is doing her best to move on with her life best she can, the one thing she cannot say no to is the plea of her child's grandmother for them to visit. Try as she can, fighting the love and attraction she has for the father of her child is a battle she's not sure if she can win.
This was an incredibly sweet short read, that puts you through the emotional rollercoaster of a family falling apart, I thoroughly enjoyed it with it's twists and turns, sexy times and sad times-- I am very much looking forward to Mila's Story x
Nico is the first book I've read by Evan Grace and I loved it.you will fall in love with Nico and feel the pain he has put Jill through. You learn to forgive him quickly and just want Jill and Nico find happiness together.
This book is alcove story with all the trimmings, betrayal, fear, loss but most of all true love wins in the end. Family is the key and lots of support by those who love them both.
This story shows us that if you want to be happy and receive forgiveness, you need to be able to forgive yourself first and everything else falls in to place.
I found this story refreshing and can't wait to read the next book in this series.
