A mission that will turn this case on its head...

With a sting set for a downtown bar, Special Agent Lara Grant and her team are on high alert to snare the most dangerous man in Manhattan. No one tears their team apart and gets away with it! Their aim: to get the perp's DNA from his shot glass...

Mission accomplished, but each step forward in the case takes them two steps back into Lara's past--this time, to the years before her undercover assignment, and a family torn apart by a brutal murder. But Lara knows she can focus only on the present. Because when the DNA results come through, they shock the team and rock the very foundations of the case...

The nuns in my Catholic elementary school always said that each of us has a gift, a reason we were put here on earth. Our job is to discover what that purpose is. Well, I knew early on that I was meant to be a writer. Who else would spend her childhood grinding sparkling rocks into fairy dust and convince her friends it was real? Or daydream her way through elementary school, spend high school reading philosophy and playing the bagpipes, and then head off to Spain during college to live the writer's life?

After four years in Madrid I straggled back home, broke but fluent in Spanish, and discovered that I'd acquired a marketable skill. So instead of writing, I began teaching Spanish. I also married a Coast Guard Officer and followed him around the country as he rescued ships and saved lives.

The years passed. We had two sons. I earned my master's degree and continued teaching, which I really enjoyed. We met interesting people and acquired a quirky dog.

But the desire to write kept lurking in my mind. That was my dream, what I knew I'd been destined to do -- and yet, I had never done it. Then one day I made a decision. If I wanted to become a published author, I had to stop fantasizing about writing and actually do it.

So I began my first book –- and discovered that writing a saleable novel was much harder than I'd dreamed. Fortunately, I inherited a healthy dose of Irish stubbornness, a strong mid-western work ethic and a love of challenges that helped me persevere.

So here I am at last, just as the nuns instructed and right where I hoped I would be –- writing stories about characters struggling along their own paths of self-discovery. I hope you enjoy their journey home.

Tough Justice: Twisted by Gail Barrett is a 2016 Harlequin special release publication.

This book takes the story onto a whole new level of suspense and will certainly command your attention. It’s not a pretty picture, so remember this e-series is a dark, gritty crime thriller, with the romance taking a backseat, at least for now. Also, remember this series needs to be read in order. Never fear, though, it is my understanding that you can download all eight installments at one time, and binge read to your heart’s content! I highly recommend this series. Stay tuned for “Tough Justice: Ambushed” by Carol Ericson.

seriously! Get over it! You had sex with a bad guy. Maybe it was stupid of you to have sex with people willy-nilly anyway. But you did it you didn't know what the time get over it. No one else is going to judge you anyways. There may be a few but I doubt any of your team would. Adults having consensual sex who later turn out to be a bad person does not make you a bad person. So much so that it gets in your way and creates bad judgment! I guess is the baby is yours anyways why not tell everyone about it? if the bad guys know about the baby then why not let the good guys know too?

**ENTIRE SERIES REVIEW**

If you don't pay attention to the publisher at the start, you will soon realize that this is a Harlequin novel. When the FBI agents aren't investigating the crimes and trying to get the bad guy, they're either having sex or fantasizing about it. We get it, they are adults but Lara Gant seems to be a little too focused on getting physical with the bad guy or her new partner. If you got rid of the gratuitous love making, this 8 book series could be condensed to 4.

Once you get past the late nite Cinemax plots, it is a good crime series. Of course there is a mole, a bad guy and a twin, plus a daughter that gets used as bait. It is longer than needed (even without the explicit relationship descriptions), but getting through it is a rewarding way to spend some free time.

First thing to remember is that this is a crime series first and foremost so that is mostly what you will get but trust me when I say it is totally worth it. Right from the start with the big reveal you are on a roller coaster ride. I must say that I did kind of see the reveal coming from reading the past books but was still a bit surprised. Not only is Lara's mental well being at stake but so is her emotional well being. This one really has me worried for her. Moretti always seems to be two steps ahead of Lara and Nick (as well as the rest of the team) but they finally manage to get onto his trail. The suspense in this book is so much more that it will keep you on the edge of your seat. Like I said this is a crime series with plenty of thriller thrown in so some stuff is so not a pretty picture. However if everyone comes out of it all in the way I hope then it will so be worth it!

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was first published at Blushing Reads.

As this book heads toward its conclusion Gail Barrett gives us another fantastic installment. The story is picking up speed and the FBI still has no leads. Although toward the end there is a big Aha moment that I wasn't expecting and could send this story heading in another direction. Lara's mother's murder seems to be dragged into this case maybe suggesting that Moretti had something to do with that as well or maybe just to toy with her. Either way this series keeps up the momentum.

Yea, all I can say is this... I KNEW IT! :D Okay, the reveal here wasn't a total shocker since it was all but told to you in the previous editions, but you never know when they will throw in something you didn't expect. However, if you don't think there was any surprise, you will be mistaken. Now to figure out how all the pieces fit together. Another great addition to this serial.

More of the same both in story line and overall views. I feel the series is a bit lost as if the authors don't know the overall intent. I don't mean of the plot or the outcome, more of what type of story are they attempting to tell.

Lara Grant and her team are still after a killer! They're collecting DNA evidence, and they think they're almost there, but Lara Grant's past won't be silenced, and the taunting continues, reaching even into her home.

This book was interesting. Although when the author disclosed something about Morretti (m not revealing what) it was obvious what would happen towards the end of the book.
