Keep your friends close. Your enemies closer. And your colleagues?
Trust has never been easy for Special Agent Lara Grant. Life taught her a hard lesson as a child, one she's never forgotten. But now, when the betrayal is so close to home, Lara is pushed to the very limit.
As the players finally move into position, it's time to go all in, or go home. It doesn't matter that fear is shaking her very core, it doesn't matter that everything she has...her team, her new family...is on the line.
What "does" matter is that there has always been one truth about Lara when her back's against the wall, she comes out guns blazing. And at last her target is in her sights...
Part 7 of 8 in the chilling, high-octane FBI thriller TOUGH JUSTICE from "New York Times" bestselling author Carla Cassidy and authors Tyler Anne Snell, Carol Ericson and Gail Barrett.
On Tyler Anne
"I was on the edge of my seat from the very first page." --"Read Love Blog on Manhunt"
Tyler Anne Snell spends her days plotting murders, creating mysteries, and weaving sexual tension, romance, and can't-live-without-you love throughout each. When she isn't writing romantic suspense she's reading urban fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and falling even more in love with Netflix.
Tyler lives in South Alabama with her same-named husband, their mini lions, and a burning desire to meet Kurt Russell.
Tough Justice: Betrayed ( part 7 of 8) by Tyler Anne Snell is a 2016 Harlequin Special Release publication.
This series is very addictive, and Harlequin has really allowed these authors to get down and dirty, showing off their chops, and delivering some very gritty storytelling. The only bad thing about it is, I only have one more chapter left. Bummer! Another very solid installment in the series, I think fans of romantic suspense fans are going love.
Pace of activity picked up in this episode though I'll admit I went in fast forward mode for the inevitable bedroom scene. (Sigh) Is this an FBI thriller or a Romance novel? Do the combined authors contributing to this piece of work really know? In relation to the ongoing plot, more happens, threads are linked, actions are implemented, outcomes achieved. Aspects a bit too predictable for my liking and the fight scenes dramatic but not likely. There are only so many blows a person can cope with even if they are a hero (sigh again). Even though the events all seem to wrap up at things fall into place but because this was number seven in a series of eight, we knew that the celebration was all to premature. Bring on the finale.
If you don't pay attention to the publisher at the start, you will soon realize that this is a Harlequin novel. When the FBI agents aren't investigating the crimes and trying to get the bad guy, they're either having sex or fantasizing about it. We get it, they are adults but Lara Gant seems to be a little too focused on getting physical with the bad guy or her new partner. If you got rid of the gratuitous love making, this 8 book series could be condensed to 4.
Once you get past the late nite Cinemax plots, it is a good crime series. Of course there is a mole, a bad guy and a twin, plus a daughter that gets used as bait. It is longer than needed (even without the explicit relationship descriptions), but getting through it is a rewarding way to spend some free time.
Okay I almost thought this was the end even though I knew there was another episode after this one. So many of the questions that I were answered so I was like "WHAT?" Then just when you think you know what is going to happen something else happens and you are brought right back to the edge of your seat. Lara's secret is out and the romance is not necessarily scorching but pleasant enough to bring you some joy. At least it did me! I have been really addicted to this series!
This really is the book that wraps up everything in the story arc. We find out all the answers to our questions and it really felt like the ending book. I even finally started liking the romance a bit more (still not sold, but it is one of those things that will grow on you as a series goes on). Then a small thing... *can't say* happens and we are back on the edge of our seat needing the next book!
Lara Brant, FBI Special Agent has to come to grips with her trust issues when she realizes that she has been betrayed again. What happens is an action packed and life or death effort to get answers.
In some respects, this has been my favorite episode of the Tough Justice Series. The conclusion of this installment will leave you wanting to read the final episode without delay.
This installment is action packed and filled with many answers but not all. Lara's secret is out and once again she finds herself in a fight for her life. Excellent set up for the final episode in this story.
