A ghost who brings visions of fire. A runaway girl on the streets. A psychic who might be lying about someone’s death. It must be time for Jack and Lauren to get serious.
Ghosts, Lauren can handle. People, on the other hand, can be scary as hell. So when Lauren finds herself visited by a young girl who's clearly no longer of this world, she’s more intrigued than anything else. It's only when this ongoing visitation coincides with receiving a psychic distress call from a girl who desperately wants to stay missing that Lauren becomes both curious and frightened.
Soon, Jack and Lauren find themselves pitted against a ticking clock as they try to rescue a girl the police are searching for, at least one man is hunting, and who another psychic claims to have already seen dead.
David Pandolfe is the author of the Streetlights Like Fireworks and Jump When Ready series. Reading his books, you'll soon learn that he likes writing stories about psychics, ghosts, unusual settings and characters who approach adventure with a sense of humor. He's not sure where the ghost obsession came from but he figured he might as well roll with it.
Before becoming a writer, David did a few other things. For example, he was once a bartender in Seattle, a singer/songwriter in a Los Angeles rock band and a college writing teacher in Richmond (not all at the same time, of course). These days, he lives near Richmond, Virginia, with his wife, two kids and a dog who's terrified of thunder. Not the best situation for their dog since it thunders from spring until fall in Richmond.
I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Now that that's out of the way I can tell you how much I absolutely love these characters and this book. In general, this book takes a look at how Lauren and Jack tackle the fact that they have psychic abilities and what they should do with them, and how using them will affect their lives. Definitely a more mature book than the first one, now Jack and Lauren have every day life to deal with. It's a new beginning for Jack and Lauren and opens up whole new possibilities of where things will go from here. This book has a creepier atmosphere and the mystery is a little darker. I love Jack and Lauren's back and forth dialog, they crack me up. I also enjoyed that they have a history and problems that don't just go away as they grow up and they can look back and see where they were as individuals and realize who they want to be and what they want to do with their lives. I also love seeing the local landmarks of Seattle. The secondary characters are phenomenal, I love Jessica, Peter and Stacy. The book ended on a good note and I can't wait to see what's to come for these characters! I can't recommend this series enough. Go and read it.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, this has not affected my review in anyway.
This is book 3 of (hopefully) the continuing story of Jack and Lauren. I enjoy everything David Pandolfe has written so far! This book did a good job of reminding the reader of the events that happened in the first 2 books without being boring or redundant which can be tricky in a series. The dialogue between the main characters continues to make me smile, laugh and sometimes cry. I love the psychic part of the story and I enjoy how the author makes these skills believable. The characters are getting better at using their respective abilities without the story becoming at all "comic book". With any paranormal setting it is a real challenge to keep the book about the plot and not about the bells and whistles. On the other hand, those of us who love paranormal stories don't want the cool magical parts to be too few and far between. While these books are not urban fantasy (no vampires, goblins or shifters etc.) they do have enough magical intuition that the reader almost feels like this could be real. I enjoy that kind of escapism. Looking forward to more from this author!

I really enjoyed this book, I've enjoyed this entire series. I was initially worried about the POV changing in different chapters but this turned out to work very well and I liked hearing from Lauren and Jack (and Tamara) from their own perspectives. There was less traveling in this one but still plenty going on, enough to make it hard to know how it was all going to play out and make it hard to put it down! Looking forward to the next installment in this series!
Also, has Jack always been this funny? He was seriously funny in this one! Haha!!
This third installment of "Streetlights Like Fireworks" left me on the edge of my seat. Like the two preceding novels, I was again in love with Jack and Lauren throughout the story.
I am looking forward to reading their future adventures in Book IV and in any others that may come!
I really like these characters and there is always a good mystery when they head out in the old VW bus. I feel like I wish there had been a little more to this story though......or maybe that's just my desire to not let go of my book friends. Either way, I loved the story and highly recommend the whole series.
David Pandolfe can really write and I'm loving this series. Distance is the third book in the series. I have read all of the books so far and am planing on getting book #4 soon. I love to read paranormal and psychic books and these books take the cake. Good storyline, good characters and good suspense.
I really liked the first one of these . Though VW bus thAt can travel that far without breaking down is pretty hard to believe. I'm probably hopeless but I liked this one a lot.
Another great read, just like the first two and as I mentioned any story that takes place in Puget Sound get automatic extra star upgrade so this one gets six.
