For years, time travel cured disease, freed the innocent, and convicted the guilty.
They thought it was safe.
They were wrong.

In the near future, the science of time travel is developed and regulated by the US government. The safety and benefits of time travel have become taken for granted by the American public. As work begins on the roll-out of private sector time travel, the government agency in charge of its regulation comes under attack.

Daniel Macon, Director of Security for the Department of Chronological Integrity, must discover the identity of a rogue chrononaut before time travel is turned against the country. As he pursues his adversary, he discovers that there are dangers in time travel that have been hidden from the public and the nation's leaders.

The Secretary of DCI, his longtime mentor, has deceived him. An agent he once fired for incompetence becomes Daniel's most trusted ally. A liaison officer from British Intelligence reveals an unimaginable fate for humanity. The inventor of time travel goes into hiding.

In the first book of the Time Riven series, the battle lines are drawn.

Daniel’s war against the future begins with a brutal attack on his own family.

I usually enjoy books about time but i couldn't really get into the characters of this book. The concept was good but it didn't hook me right away. perhaps i will try to get back into this at a later date.

I was completely blown away by this book by the end!
Fast paced and written so well that I found myself flying through it, Time Riven started as what seemed to be an almost modern mystery/action novel. However, as I continued, it became clear that the author envisioned an original and creative near-future, where, with the invention of time travel, nothing can be taken for granted. As more is revealed, and the reader begins to learn more about the ever changing life of Daniel Macon, and the stability of the United States begins to shatter, questions begin to arise about what can be done when you are at war with the future, and time travel only works to go into the past.

As an engineering student, avid fiction and fantasy reader, as well as total sci-fi nerd, this book brought up many ideas about time travel that I had never even begun to consider, and I loved every bit of it. Each plot twist and new concept had me reading through this novel compared to others faster than I have in a long time, and I will definitely be buying the second. I highly suggest this book to anyone who enjoyed other time travel-novels - such as Orson Scott Card's "Pathfinder" - or sci-fi works!

This book introduces you to Daniel Macon - a firm believer in time travels. Normalcy goes to pieces when a chrononaut from the future strikes too close for comfort. Daniel needs to reconsider the friend or foe question.

With Time Riven, Jonathan E. Seyfried has created a thrilling science fiction novel. It is a compelling read, starting slowly, then reaching a steady flow. Jonathan E. Seyfried paints a pretty clear picture of Daniel's mind while the story evolves. I was drawn into the story after the 'introductory' chapters; these chapters are relevant for understanding upcoming events and actions. The characters are of sufficient depth, believable with their flaws and virtues. Daniel Macon's story is about time travel and politics, civilization and deception; the twists are sometimes surprising, do fit in nicely.

This is a book for you if you like young adult and/or science fiction series with a political touch, food for thought and characters with flaws and virtues.

The promising start of a series.

Recommended.

As I am the author of this little pulp sci fi book, I am totally biased! But of course I wouldn't put it out there if I didn't think that many would have fun reading it. It is a "Minority Report" type of story for time travel fiction, full of drama, suspense, and lots of playing around with time travel paradoxes.
