Four books in a boxed set, one of each of in four of this author's mystery series. I loved all of them, absolutely. All of them had this underlying sense of humour, the dialogues were witty, the protagonists were people a reader could easily identify with, not least because they were not the usual late teens to twenty age group, but way way older, like I would think, a lot of readers of this genre of literature.
Some had a slightly melancholy undercurrent, but on the whole, the books were humorous, the protagonists sympathetic and realistic, the plots interesting - something a reader could follow, having the same clues as the characters, but not without some twists and turns -, and the narration style was just brilliant, in short, everything came together perfectly to keep me glued to the pages.
I want to read all of the book in these series.

I am a big fan of the author and am trying to read all of her books. I've been hooked on her books since I read the first one and they are all well written and entertaining.

Cozy Mysteries

Fun enjoyable mysteries with a little paranormal touch. Each book has a different setting and different characters - I would have enjoyed a series with the progression of the same characters, but these stand alones were still nice.

Kindle Unlimited, Leighann Dobbs writes under Leighann Dobbs, Annie Dobbs and (soon) L.A. Dobbs but her real name {not sure if she writes under that one} is Lee Dobbins, Hazel Martin Mysteries only one I found for this type with her, she has not made sure that terms used match the British terms as well as in other areas for that period of architecture and assorted styles.

The Notch Cozy Mystery Series {5 out as of this writing} and the Blackbore Sisters Cozy Mysteries are not on Kindle Unlimited which as said before about 1 & 7 {the only ones given free, sure would not have bought them} and ditto for Ghostly Paws which is 1 of 5 at this time but did get others free over time.

While some of her other books are Kindle Unlimited none of the Blackmoore Sisters Cozy Mysteries are which doesn't matter to me as read #1 and #7 and was way underwhelmed. Leighann Dobbs writes under Leighann Dobbs, Annie Dobbs and (soon) L.A. Dobbs but her real name {not sure if she writes under that one} is Lee Dobbins, Hazel Martin Mysteries only one I found for this type with her, she has not made sure that terms used match the British terms as well as in other areas for that period of architecture and assorted styles. By the way, bakeries and other food service places don't run like that. Badly needs to proof things, it's messing up the flow of the book, which my computer reads to me, so that's bad. As for these, it's not that the situations couldn't happen, it's in the telling of the story, with unlikable unbelievable characters and situations, again.

Yet another goodreads won't hide it don't want to see the badly proofed badly plotted poor excuse for bad soft core porn crap. The 'historical' ones are like that and so are the some of the non cozy mysteries and some of the sorta but not really mysteries because can't write, etc ad nauseum. The most any of them got was 2 changed to 1 for crap cozy, some get a 1 which means basically crappy soft porn 'romance' etc.

3 in Silver Hollow Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series so far which are on kindle unlimited, 3 in the Moosamuck Island Mysteries , 5 in the Mystic Notch Cozy Mysteries so far {not ku}, Blackmore Sisters has 7 {not ku}, Hazel Martin Mysteries only has 1 so far, Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery series 12 so far is on ku. Others.including Scandals and Spies Book series so far 4 which are basically romance soft core porn dreck but hey you can get them on ku. Witches of Hawthorne Grove 1 so far,Cevonne Bride of Oklahoma, Unexpected Series 4 so far ku.

The Lexy Baker Cozy Mystery Series By the way, bakeries and other food service places don't run like that. Badly needs to proof things, it's messing up the flow of the book, which my computer reads to me, so that's bad. As for these, it's not that the situations couldn't happen, it's in the telling of the story, with unlikable unbelievable characters and situations, again.

Copy/paste fill in the blank seems to be pretty much what she is doing in her books, which wouldn't be half as bad if the plots and ploys and actions were believable at all.Just change the name for a book and maybe change the series list under, and you are right back to copy paste same old same old.

NOTE: I specifically mentioned certain of the 'books'/series were achieving soft core crap status, and specifically said which ones those were, reference AGAIN the above quoted review, and did not specifically mention the blackmore ones as that, BUT and had not mentioned that had went back and rated all no talent no plot cardboard charactered 'stories' listed above as 1 as well. I will change the original review to reflect that, but it is still a 1, and MY review of the crap stands.

This was an entertaining book that showcases the first book in 4 cozy series. It was well written. I liked the mixture of the age of the main characters. Some were young, some middle aged, and some in their 70's. The stories kept you reading to see how they would successfully bring the bad guys to justice. The stories did not drag. They kept going with surprises thrown in. I especially liked the small paranormal in the stories. It was fun to read about the clues being given by the ghosts and cats. I would recommend this book to anyone that would like to get a sample of Ms. Dobbs mysteries.

This is four books in one collection so have now read all four books! They are all of a similar vein, mystery books whereby women solve mysterious crimes with the aid of psychic cats, and all ends well. They are exactly what it says on the book cover "cozy" and a pleasant way to spend time curling up on a sofa with the cat (not psychic), cup of hot chocolate somewhere to hand and relax!

Skip the last book

The first books on the collection were good. The last was terrible. If I had to read about a heart dropping or a stomach doing flip flops or furrowed brows I was going to jump. But I will read other stories by the writer.

I enjoyed this cozy mystery collection of books. They were all a bit different with some similarities. There was mystery, a little bit of woo-woo (not scary), well written characters, a good story line. It was a nice cozy to read on a cold winter's day.

Great Mystery!

Thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery. Just enough intrigue, a little magic and little romance. Will definitely be reading more of the Blackmoore sisters mysteries.

Cozies, but not challenging.

The books were somewhat entertaining, but not very gripping. The characters were not very deeply developed. I would recommend them to someone looking for a quick read.

This collection contains 4 mysteries--I believe all are the first book in their respective series. I'd already read "Ghostly Paws" but had not read the others. I think the author did herself a disservice by putting together a collection. Two of the series seem very similar with both set in small towns in Maine. For the most part, the characters don't seem very developed in these first sets of books.

I did enjoy the one with the retired consultants and at least felt that one was plausible as to why they'd get involved in an investigation--though apparently all small town Maine police personnel seem incompetent to solve a crime without the help of others and really, how many murders can happen in a small town before you either run out of murderers (because you've caught them) or someone starts to suspect you as the cause for all the bodies?

I was dismayed to read the last of the 4 included stories. I could put up with herbs but when the main characters are deliberately allowing customers to buy gems based on their supposed properties (warding off evil, helping one move on, etc.) along with a yoga instructor who speaks to dead people when she meditates . . . it just got way too off-the-wall for my tastes and I couldn't finish that book.

I think I'm done reading this author just based on that alone.
