The world Jane Parkett lives in consists of early mornings, long nights, and the rush of closing a deal. As a new junior analyst at one of the top financial firms in the country, she is determined to rise through the ranks and become partner one day. For the longest time, Jane thought that all she needed in life was her dream job. But when Franklin McKinnon waltzed into her life, throwing insults and sharp jabs her way, the world that Jane envisioned begins to crumble. As she opens herself up to new experiences, Jane learns that with new territory, comes new fears, new enemies, and an even greater love.
I wish it I could give it negative stars (Will it still be a star? Will it be a black hole?). Anyway, when I read the blurb, I thought to myself,"The protagonist is an analyst like me. This is going to be worth my time." I couldn't have been more mistaken. It started off well, with all the group meetings and presentations, but rapidly disintegrated into a gooey, overly emotional drama involving lots of Chanel dresses and Russian models who wonder if freesia would have looked better in their bridal bouquets. Firstly, it was quite evident that the author has no idea what analysts do. The details of Jane's (it's a testament to my memory that I remember the protagonist's name at all, her character was extremely unmemorable) work was glossed over. Words like "spreadsheets " and "number crunching" are too vague. They can't possibly give you an idea of what analysts do. Global companies today use SAS or SPSS (or in some cases, R or Minitab) to draw insights from data. I wish the author had done some research before choosing this profession for her main characters. Secondly, the author has probably never read about the Three Act structure of novels. Readers are subjected to seemingly endless descriptions of people, food, and clothes for 89% of the book. The characters simply go from point A to point B (have a lot of fun in between) and this sequence is repeated. What a disappointing read.
Cussing from the get go, I got to page 6 & had enough. Seemed like a good story line but it doesn't take foul language to make a good book.
I was excited to find this and it seems like a great storyline but I only got as far as Page six. It doesn't take foul language to make a good book, in fact quite the opposite. Most definitely not something I'll be finishing.
I really liked this story. Jane and Franklin are an interesting couple. They are meant to be together. Franklin is a jerk for what he did to Jane. Let's see in the next book if Jane forgives him.
Well written. Some grammatical errors. Loved the storyline, romance and humor. Never dull. Contains some profanity. Great character development even though Jane's family could have been more developed.
Talk about a cliffhanger! Desire lures you in with two powerful individuals that do not get along very well at work. Their feuding is interesting and you'd never expect them to start a relationship...until they do. The two complement each other perfectly, but at work their professional lives are strictly professional. As the relationship gets more serious, secrets are revealed and one brings the relationship to a breaking point. What will happen between them?
I could not be more excited to read the second book in this series. With an ending like that, I have to continue! The way this book was written allows it to be sophisticated, and the characters make it feel real. I wouldn't have the story end any other way, and there's truly only one word I can use to describe this story: perfection. I was enthralled by this story, and I definitely recommend this book to anyone (yes, anyone) needing a perfect romance story!
Money can't always buy what you want. Certainly not Love. When Franklin enters into an office bet on who will get Jane or Rebecca in bed first he has no idea he will fall in love with Jane in the process, for real! When Jane finds out nine months later about the bet she is furious and breaks it off. Will her heart forgive Frank,or will she let Anger run her life?
I liked Jane and was a little worried about Franklin at first but seeing their love blossom was worth it until the end. I guess when you work in business you have to look after yourself and protect your own. It was a short read but it was something completely unexpected and so typical. If you like romance, business and the wealthy, well all I can say is your in for a treat with this one.
When two people from different backgrounds compete, its usually the one with the better background wins. This story reminded us that love is priceless. Were all equal. This book was one that couldn't be put down until finished. All the characters were well liked and interesting. Looking forward to the next book.
This book was ok. Again, the title and cover tells nothing about the story of two twenty-somethings starting a corporate job where they are colleagues/competitors. Romance had promise, but ended in a cliffhanger just as it was getting good. Not compelling enough to read the other books.
I started this book after finishing my News Paper. And finished it very late the Same night.. I loved it . It was interesting , warm. Beautifully written... But cannot seem to locate Book 2. I believe there are 5 Books in the series.
Good look at the Corporate fast lane existence and the hardcore reality there in. Relationships in the same company not recommended. Needs a better review of mistakes in execution for readers.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! Would very much appreciate your sending me the next episode! One could really get to know the characters involved! Particularly the fact that elderly characters were introduced!!!
This is a wonderful book. The author will pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat. This has romance and comedy, its flirty and fun. I thoroughly enjoy reading .
I really enjoyed this book! It had me in the edge of my seat at times, laughing others and ready to kick some butt as well. I gave it a 4 star rating because of some spelling errors I noticed throughout the book. Other than that it was great!
Men and women competing. A man and woman fall in love. Woman finds out she was part of a bet....... Got to get the next book because you won't know how it ends. Good writing style though. Good character development. Very contemporary. Not a complete book. Too bad.
I truly loved this and simply can't look forward enough to reading the next book in the series. Well written and great characters kept me engaged from beginning to end. Thanks.
The book was OK, but for me the story never developed into anything great. Then in the end it leaves you hanging needing to buy the next book! I do not like reading the entire book just to be left with no closure. The language is bad also. Not recommend.
I really liked this one & cannot wait to read the other parts. I loved the chemistry but I really wanted their passionate scenes, but they weren't there :-(
