THERE IS NO REST FOR THE WICKED.

After spending ten years of her life hunting her sister’s killer and barely surviving, Allie Krycek is ready to move on. She’s got a new job, in a new city, with a new man in her life. Things are finally looking up.

Too bad there are people determined to ruin Allie’s second chance.

Arriving at her boyfriend’s isolated house in the countryside, masked gunmen interrupt what was supposed to be a romantic getaway. Forced into another life and death situation, Allie will have to battle throughout the night if she hopes to keep herself and those she loves alive.

Having loved book one, "Hunter Prey," I immediately purchased the second book in the "Allie Krycek" series, hoping it was just as good. Turns out "Saint/Sinner" is even better than the first. Talk about a well-written novel that's intense, and full of action with twists and turns that you never see coming. The story picks up two years after Allie took down a serial killer. She's dating someone new (Walter), and she's been invited to join him and his fifteen year-old daughter at his house in the countryside.

"“It’s great,” Walter had said. “It’s quiet. Out of the way. It’s private land, so it’ll just be the three of us out there most of the time. My closest neighbor is on the other side of the woods, so far away we can make all kinds of noise and no one would hear. You'll love it.""

Upon entering the house, masked gunmen brandish their weapons on them. Turns out they want Walter for a specific reason, something Allie can't fathom why. Knowing that their lives are at stake, Allie does what she knows best - beat them at their own game. Thinking that this is a simple job, the gunmen are surprised to say the least when Allie turns the table on them.

"It had been a while since she had touched a gun, but you never forgot how to use one. The last time she had one in her hand, she had taken a life from close range. She would have been perfectly happy if she never had to repeat that harrowing moment ever again. That might have been possible, if she had only stayed out of the goddamned woods."

Whoo-hoo! Allie kicking ass this round is an understatement. The author does a brilliant job creating a heroine that is smart, intelligent, and brave; someone who you can't help but love and cheer for once again. Her character works in that she doesn't come off as a know-it-all, that she can do whatever a man can and do it better, or that she's hot shit. Not once in either novel does she get on my nerves or rub me the wrong way. She's so awesome, you almost want to be her.

The author weaves a well-developed story that is sure to intrigue readers who enjoy novels of the suspense-thriller genre. Talk about a novel that starts off with a bang, a novel that includes an array of characters, all of which had me hooked from the very first page, and keeping me engaged right up to the end. And what an ending it is. I have to say this series is one I whole-heartedly recommend. I can't wait to see what happens next. I just hope that I don't have to wait too long for it.

Having read Sisavath's Purge of Babylon series, I was expecting a lot more from this series. Riveting scenes and complex characters, at very the least. While this is a decent series, it didn't come close to meeting expectations. I didn't fall in love with the characters (as I did with Purge), and something just didn't click about the story.

Oh, book 2 is excellent! Allie and Apollo are back after a couple quiet years. They are back in the one place they swore never to return to...The woods. It's filled with intense emotions and action. The epilogue gives you a tiny glimpse into book 3, & it seems like it's going to kick butt!!

Wow.
I mean, just wow.
"Saint/Sinner" by Sam Sisavath is billed as a thriller and it is every bit of that and more. The second book in Sisavath's series featuring Allie Krycek, saying that this novel is "action packed" just doesn't begin to describe this thrill-a-minute story. It starts fast and the pace doesn't let up until the final page.
Allie Krycek is a wonderful character; a woman with a hidden past, she is working as a secretary and dating a nice guy whose teenage daughter doesn't approve of the relationship. Her life seems, on the surface, not very different from other single, working women in their 30s.
There are, however, hidden depths in Allie; and the men who intrude into what is supposed to be a quiet weekend with her boyfriend and his daughter are about to learn just how deep they are.
There are many things to like about Allie, starting with the fact that she is not a superhero. She's learned how to fight, for example, but she knows when she's over-matched and so she doesn't foolishly try to take on a much stronger, bigger man in a physical confrontation. Instead, she waits until she can gain an advantage and then strikes.
She's smart and, though not fearless, she is fierce in defense of those she cares about.
She is also relentless and, like many of the strong female characters in Indie fiction, she has a take-no-prisoners attitude when it comes to dealing with those who have threatened her and the people she loves. In the tradition of Lisbeth Salander from "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and Helen King from Sharon Brownlie's "Betrayal," this is definitely NOT a woman you want to mess with if you have any sense of self preservation.
Allie Krycek is the protagonist in "Saint/Sinner" but Sisavath hasn't skimped when creating secondary characters. Allie's boyfriend Walter and his daughter Lucy are, for example, fully realized. So too are the men who intrude on their lives during what is supposed to be a vacation that will allow Allie and Lucy to do some bonding and, perhaps, learn how to get along even if they do not become BFFs. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention Apollo, Allie's courageous - and smart - dog who plays a major role in the story.
The plot is as twisty as a mountain road, a fact that kept me guessing throughout the book. As a writer of mystery novels myself, I can say that doesn't often happen and the fact that I didn't see some of these twists coming really enhanced my reading experience. The narrative is fast paced - okay, it's lightning paced - with just enough descriptive detail to give the reader an opportunity to "be in the moment" without being overwhelmed by lengthy ruminations on wallpaper and the glow of a 40-watt bulb.
As I said, this is the second book in a series but it can definitely be read as a standalone novel. I say that because I was unaware that there was a previous Allie Krycek adventure but still had no difficulty investing in the characters and the story.
The verdict: An excellent thriller with a great heroine, interesting secondary characters, and a well-thought-out plot.

Excellent second book

I enjoyed Allie Krycek even more in Saint/Sinner. Hunter Prey was my favorite story line, but I really liked how Allie evolved into such a bad ass! Also liked Apollo & Allies interaction. Overall a great read.

This was a fast paced suspenseful read. I enjoyed the first book a bit more, but this made for an exciting quick read. It was also offered as a kindleunlimited which made me like it that much more. I'll definitely check out more of this writers work in the future.

Pleasantly surprised

After reading The Purge of Babylon series and The Road to Babylon series, my intent was to read the other, related series BUT I vaguely remembered trying to start this series before Will became Frank. (Honestly I think I knew what was coming and didn't want to face it!)
So, I finally went back to A.K.1(Hunter/Prey). Well, that was 7 hours ago. I read that and this one-with a nap in between-in that period of time.
Very happy that I did! I liked Allie from the start-nothing like a badass woman hell-bent on taking out her sister's killer to keep the action moving! Gotta say, a few things made me laugh-mostly when familiar weapons and sayings popped up. (I half expected Danny or Keo to make an appearance LOL!) I have 2 requirements for a damn good book: I can "see" a movie playing out in my head and I read it straight thru without stopping. These two met those in spades! Sam Sisavath became one of my Top 4 favorite authors a few years ago and he's muscling his way into the top spot. I think as long as the dog doesn't get dead, he's safe!

'Saint/Sinner' was just as great, if not better, than the first book. I literally could not put this book down. I was pulled in from the beginning. The storyline was well written and the way it played out was incredible. Fast paced, full of action and a few surprises thrown in. I absolutely love Allie. She makes the best lead. She thought she was done with her old life, but it came knocking again. She handled herself quite well. Apollo is a great sidekick. He's one tough canine. Lucy was quite surprising to me. She held up pretty good and adapted when needed. A great book to add to your tbr list. Recommended.

Okay, the plot is definitely predictable and the characters could use some character. But I gave it 4 stars because the action is non-stop and well choreographed. The editing is clean and though the main character is borderline 2 dimensional, I'm thinking that might be because I haven't read book 1 in the series where she might have been painted with tighter brush strokes. All in all, a good read.

This is a book you will love!!

I read for pleasure . And I wish I had written something for the first one, hunter/prey.
I like female heroines and badasses . This has been both.
Everyone wants to be able to protect their families, their friends and get revenge and justice and vengeance if you fail at the first.
Alli is a super hero, modern day

Great book!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and am hooked on the series and this character. Allie Krycek is my kind of woman, strong and self reliant, able to take care of herself. I also enjoy her partner, Apollo. Good boy!
Yes, I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

Some Holes

This book is ok. The story is a bit weak, and there are some holes in it. The heroine is truly indefatigable and unimaginably lucky. You certainly won’t miss a lot if you don’t read it.

Quick read but

...not my ‘genre’ (if this can be classed into a genre). Unbelievable , full of holes & no character development. I’ll have no problem deleting this from my Kindle library.

Sam's always good.

always fast paced. 6 hour read. read the first three books of Babylon series - snappy dialog, and great story 5s for those.

But I read everything by him. never disappointed

In my opinion this was almost as good as the first. Stayed with the same kind of theme and kept me on my toes wanting to know more. The first was hard to beat but this one had a satisfying plot line that doesn't leave you guessing at the end, which was great for me.

Ok, when I finished the first book in this series, I loved it but wasn't sure the character was strong enough to carry more books. After reading this one, i am sold. Can't wait to read the next one.

More of Allie Krycek, after Hunter/Prey, where she finally achieved her goal of avenging her sister, she is trying to go for the simple life, but when her vacation trip with her new boyfriend and his daughter turn for the worst, she has to use everything she learned when looking for the killer of her sister, and face an even greater threat. Things keep going from bad to worse, but as time progress her abilities start coming back and she keeps defeating the odds.

I liked to see more of Allie, and how she doesn't hesitate to do what need to be done, but doesn't do any unnecessary killings. Apollo, the dog she gained in the first book, is a great asset in this book, and I loved him. On one side, I'm sad that she didn't find the calm life she was looking for and that her happy ending didn't come, but on the other side I liked reading more about her. Sometimes she seems inhuman in how cold she reacts to the situtations, but she trained for that, and then you see how much she cares and feel better about it.

Her boyfriend's character was too dumb, I mean, he was too naive to see the big picture and what was going on around him, he had his moments, but for the most part, he wasn't as smart as he thought he was, and it was a let down that Allie could be with someone like him. His daughter, on the other side, was a tough girl and I really liked her, and how she faced her fears and did her best to face a difficult situation. She did her best to follow Allie's orders and was a big help getting out of there alive.

In general, I liked the book and I would recommend it. It's not as good as the first one, but it was good anyway.

Less than OK..

OK, this was as good as the first one, as far as excitement goes, and Allie kicked some ass in this book, too, but I was hoping the narration would be better, it wasn’t.

I lost track of how many bad guys Allie killed and I was left confused at the end of the book. There was only Dan and the other bad guy left at the house and he was yelling at Allie to just give him the girl, Lucy. Because the money had been put in Lucy’s name and she was the only one who could touch, and then he drove away when Allie didn’t answer him. Allie found him in Croatia seven months later and demanded the remainder of the money? What? How did he get the 80 million if he never got Lucy?

Anyway, this wasn’t as good as the first book so I doubt I’ll move on the third book.

There was swearing in this book and the F-bomb was used 29 times.

As to the narrator? No offence, but he sucked. The only emotion that isn’t used that should be used is whispering. When you’re in the woods and the bad guys are looking for you and you have no idea where they are you whisper when you talk to each other, if you talk at all. You DO NOT talk in a regular voice AND when the book calls for a whisper you whisper. In these two books I’ve had my fill of Joshua Reiniger. He has a nice voice but he’s no narrator. He doesn’t do what the book calls for and his women sound just like men.

Action packed

Okay to answer the authors question at the end of the book...yes,yes,yes please continue the story of Allie and Apollo. I am already keeping my fingers crossed to read about them again.

This is the second of the series and just asheart stopping as the first

You gotta love Allie. As this starts out, Allie works as a secretary at a financial firm and has a man in her life - Walter who has a 15 yr old daughter Lucy. He is taking them on vacation so they can "bond". As soon as they arrive at the cabin, Allie can feel something is wrong. As she starts to tell Walter - three men come out of hiding and take them hostage.

What or who do they want? Allie quickly finds out they are after Walter. From there, you know with Allie, it is going to be a wild ride. Apollo is here to and every time he comes to help Allie, I hold my breathe.

This is one action packed book that will grab you from page one to the end. Allie as always is cunning and knows how to fire a gun and take them down. Apollo is my fav. Lucy and Allie will have to learn to trust each other and can Allie save Walter, Lucy and Apollo or is she too late this time.

Exciting, Fast Aced and Fun!

Read Hunter/Prey first. You don't have to, but you'll want to. And if you don't like it, you probably won't like this one. I, however, loved both. First, some background. I'm a "tad" overweight and not hugely active (a vicious circle). I'm getting ready for a trip which will require quite a bit of walking, including, (gasp!) hills. I drag myself to the treadmill most days, dreading every single step. But today, as I was reading this book on the treadmill (I'm not active, but am coordinated) I did my usual clock check, praying to at least hit the 15 minute halfway mark, I was STUNNED to see I had hit the 30 minute mark!! In case you don't understand, I'm saying that this book was so engrossing, that I walked 30 minutes on the treadmill without checking the time. I could not give this book better praise any other way. I sincerely hope Allie's adventures continue! (And soon 'cuz that trip is coming up soon!!)
