“A page-turning new cozy murder mystery collection with a lovable sleuth and a charming setting that will bring a smile to your face!”
"A delightful cozy read with a sweet, cupcake loving sleuth, a quirky cast of characters, and plenty of charm to spare."
This collection includes six stand alone cozy murder mysteries featuring a cupcake-loving, feisty, amateur sleuth and her trusty West Highland Terrier Shamus.
The Cozy Mystery is comprised of six cozy mysteries featuring Daisy McDare and written by K. M. Morgan. These books are clean, fun, and light-hearted amateur sleuth reads with lots of laugh out loud moments. If you are looking for an intense mystery then this series isn’t for you. These books are very wholesome and refreshing to read. They do not contain any adult language words, graphic violence, or suggestive content. While each book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading them in order so you can appreciate how Daisy evolves into a very smart sleuth who doesn't back down in the face of adversity. I am looking forward to reading The Deadly Secret Affair (Book 7).
The Deadly Art Affair (Book 1): Daisy McDare's personal life is a wreck but her interior decorator business is doing great. When a good friend, Kara, calls her to decorate her home, she discovers that all isn’t as it should be in paradise. Kara married a rich artist who only cares for himself and has awful children still live at home. When the husband is murdered, Daisy sets out to solve the crime.
The Deadly Legal Affair (Book 2): Daisy is trying to get over her recent break-up. She is hopeful that by focusing on her interior design business will her stop focusing on her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend. She begins working for a new client, the law office of Max Cash, and it doesn’t take long for her to be in the middle of a crime scene. Max Cash wasn't likeable so the list of suspects grows longer as Daisy begins to learn more about the personal lives of the law firm’s personnel. Daisy frequently visits Sweet Tooth that is the sweet shop, owned and operated by her best friend, Samantha, and the previous owner, Granny Annie. Granny Annie is hilarious with her insights into crime solving and her fight be actively retired.
The Deadly Directorial Affair (Book 3): In this installment, Daisy takes a job decorating a movie set for a small budget film. The cast and crew are dysfunctional. As the rivalry and the competition between the cast and crew reaches a high point, the director reaches the low point of his career … he is killed the same way the main character in the film was supposed to die. Daisy takes decides to get involved and figure out whom the killer is.
The Deadly Real Estate Affair (Book 4): Daisy gets a job with a construction firm to make their model home their showcase, but the firm's owner, a not nice individual gets himself murdered and her friend Patrick is the only one Det. Crumple is looking at ... so Daisy must again find the killer herself.
The Deadly Rock Star Affair (Book 5): Daisy and her cousin Addison, get dragged in on a murder, the murder of Addison's boss. Addison is a prime suspect until Daisy starts nosing around.
The Deadly Restaurant Affair (Book 6): Daisy's job redesigning a restaurant has her trying to find out who killed the owner by the dumpster with an excess of suspects.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I just LOVE the Daisy McDare books and can't recommend them highly enough!
Daisy McDare is an interior decorator in Cozy Creek who stumbles on murders regularly. She "investigates" the murders, much to the dismay of police detectives who actually are investigating the cases.
Daisy is a hoot. I love her. How wonderful that this fictional character can make herself feel better just by eating a cupcake. I wish I could do that but in real life there is the weight gain to worry about. All the characters in these books are great. Granny Annie is so much fun that I would like to have heard more from her in every story. Daisy's best friend, Samantha, is always there to support her and supply her with freshly baked pastry.
I like the writing style of K.M. Morgan very much. Somehow she is able to keep the mystery of whodunit going to the very end while keeping the story humorous throughout.
If you are looking for humorous cozy mysteries, I highly recommend the Cozy Mystery Six Book Set.
Overall I've enjoyed all of the Daisy McDare books. Although each starts with serious confrontation and a murder, overall the books are quick, fun, reads. I like Daisy because she is a loyal friend. I like the books because, other than the murder which sets the stage, there isn't anything negative such as bad language, sex, or violence. For that reason alone, I want to support the author.
That being said, as someone else posted, the books are rather formula in that they set the murder scene and Daisy works through all the suspects and finds the killer instead of the police. I probably should but I never predict the killer so it keeps the book relatively interesting. But after 6 of the same, I would like to see the author develop a different theme that still incorporates the positive values of these books.
I've read all the stories in this box set and I've enjoyed them all. Daisy McDare is a talented interior decorator but she's even better at solving mysteries. Who would believe she's always involved in murder? Daisy is an interesting character. She is tenacious in her pursuit of the murderer and in feeding her sweet tooth. I loved her. She is a charming and humorous. Her sassy dialogue made me laugh and the secondary characters were perfect foils for Daisy. I loved the touch of romance that Gavin added. These stories are fast paced and well plotted. The identity of the culprit is always a surprise. K.M. Morgan keeps me guessing until the very end. This cozy mystery collection hit the spot. I'm looking forward to more of Daisy's adventures.
Good storylines , fun characters, somewhat formulaic, and easy reading. Each story a little better than the previous story. My only complaint is underutilization of the proofreading process. Improvement should occur with continued writing.
I'm so glad I found this book. I had already read 4 of the 6 books and was happy to read the rest. As always great story line. I like how Daisy doesn't give up.
She has a way of getting confessions out of killers like no other detective. It's amazing how the law is there to save her as she works her magic once again.
Suddenly the light bulb went off in my head and I knew 'who dun it'. A sweet book with Daisy McDare running circles in her own mind until she finds the killer. A light, easy read. Most enjoyable.
I decided to listen to the next 6 Daisy McDare books because the first three were not great, but I am a sucker for books about amateur sluths. Well I survived all six stories, but I promise you it was like listening to one cookie cutter story after another. I do not like saying bad things about books, but I could not finish this fast enough. The narrator was awful, here imitations of men sounded like all of the men had frogs in their throats and were geriatric. The women all sounded like they were so much older than they were supposed to be. All of the behaviors of the guilty or semi-guilty people were the same from one book to another. As I mentioned in the previous book review the constant mention of chocolate, cupcakes and donuts were adding fat to my waste and making me sick at the same time. I love sweets as well, but the constant mention of eating them get's annoying.
Overall, I cannot recommend this collection to anyone unless they really want to suffer.
K. W. Morgan excellent imagination and writing style is pure joy. And here I got this joy six times. Coupled with the excellent narration by Donna Soto created a perfect audiobook, All you have to do is close your eyes and dive into the story feeling like you are there. NOTHING CAN BE BETTER THEN THAT !!!
I full heartedly recommend this audiobook!
I believe that my review was honest even so that I got this audiobook for free.
Cozy Mystery Six Book Set (Daisy McDare #1-3,5-7) was a great read by K.M. Morgan. This set consisted of; Daisy McDare and the Deadly Art Affair, Daisy McDare and the Deadly Legal Affair, Daisy McDare and the Deadly Directorial Affair, Daisy McDare and the Deadly Rock Star Affair, Daisy McDare and the Deadly Restaurant Affair, and Daisy McDare and the Deadly Secret Affair. I really enjoyed reading Daisy investigating the murders that have happened in her town.
Phrases used too often, editing needed, seemed like the same story was repeated with settings and names changed. Somewhat entertaining tho. Main character was very likable. I found myself cheering her on.
Trite. Too predictable. Old type storyline just by a different author. Nothing new, exciting or refreshing. If you're in to predictable and boring. Go for it. These are so bad I found myself doing the eye roll thing.
I received free a 3 book set evidently no longer offered. which included The Deadly Art Affair. The Deadly Legal Affair, and The Deadly Directorial Affair -- those are in order book 1 then 2 then 3 of the series. The background information is repetitious unless you are reading stand alone books, so in a set is very, very repetitious. For example, I do not need to be told, each and every story, just who her grandmother is. The stories seem to be trying to be a cross between murder she wrote and Agatha Christie, but with clues which ended up solving the case not really mentioned or buried in unnecessary story side trips. I must have read at least one if not more of these stories before because the endings held little surprise nonetheless, although that could just be the 'formula'. This 'formula' is present in all the books and is, to say the least, aggravating.
The Deadly Art Affair --The Deadly Legal Affair --The Deadly Directorial Affair--The Deadly Real Estate Affair--The Deadly Rock Star Affair--The Deadly Restaurant Affair--The Deadly Secret Affair--The Deadly Rival Affair
BUT Daisy McDare Three Book Set The Deadly Rock Star Affair--The Deadly Restaurant Affair--The Deadly Secret Affair is 4 5 6 Not 1 2 3 which seems to no longer be available as a set
Then being so horrible at names, got the above 3 set then the 3 set directly above then the 8 book set, and thought my head was going to implode; the only reason don't give her or any writer a 1 is because save that rating for shape shift or other like books that say in title something such as shapeshift for first word, then romance in second word, then turn out to be a badly written excuse for soft porn.
Kindle Unlimited, save some $, once you've read one you've pretty much read them all. Typos, murder she didn't write {well} redundant/unnecessary, and if someone really ate like that no they would not be rail think unless they were a purger, but all this did remind me to make sure had rated and reviewed the Witches of Wisteria she does, wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea about those, either. Different set/books in sets depending on which one/ones you get.
Date off on all these, some of the ones forgot to review for goodreads.
Terrible. Every book is the same story with interchangeable undeveloped characters. Everyone has the same first and last initials, which is extremely annoying. DD should be in a diabetic coma by now. Every chapters last sentence is her either eating chocolates or talking about eating chocolates. A simple 5th grade spelling and grammar lesson is sorely needed. The first two books have the words bumbling detective so many times I lost count. Don't waste your hard earned .99 cents. There are plenty of other free/cheap cozy mysteries that are actually entertaining and, readable.
No character development. Badly edited. My eyes kept tripping over English languages mistakes and misspellings. So unless you think eating sweets and just looking into to someone's eyes to determined if they are lying makes a plot these books will be a bore. I wasted my 99 cents.
I chose this rating because I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. I can relate to the main character in that we love sweets. I would recommend this Series to anyone that likes cozy mysteries with twists, comedy, and a bit of romance.
This set was entertaining the 1st half of the 6 pm. After that, they seemed to all be the same. Perhaps a few more twists and turns with more detail would help. The love interests are done well.
They need to fire the editor and proofreader. I may be a little more kind after I read the rest of the books, but the first book almost drove me crazy.
Reading this collection of delightful mysteries made me hungry for double fudge cake and raspberry filled doughnuts. It also filled hours with tantalizing tales of murder and mayhem. Good job, lets have some more ,please?
