From teenage crushes to meetings with the Grim Reaper, seven authors present you with a variety of tales to make you laugh, ponder, and enjoy a few minutes walking in someone else's shoes. You'll find in this collection some interesting shoes to walk in.
Janette Rallison has five children who keep her well supplied with plot ideas, sometimes even making cameo appearances in her novels. She likes to write romantic comedy because there is enough angst in real life, but theres a drastic shortage on both humor and romance.
Playing the Field was named Society of School Librarians International Best Book Award Honor Book, and both Alls Fair In Love, War, and High School and Love, Life, and the Pursuit of Free Throws were included on YALSAs Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults list. Fame Glory, and Other Things on My To Do List, was just chosen for IRAs YA Choices list for 2007
Okay, I'm giving this 5 stars, but I must confess... I designed the cover and wrote three of the short stories LOL. But seriously, here is a FREE book of clean short fiction by my writing group. It has a little something for everyone. We had fun putting it together, and I am sure that you will enjoy it, especially for the price of FREE.
Forrest Gump said it best: "Anthologies are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." (Or something like that) As expected with any sampler, some stories were more palatable than others but all in all this was great box of chocolates! My favorite story was Brains, a delightful tale about a fourth-grader battling monsters under her bed. Pick this up if you are looking for some quick reads that won't leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
My first collaboration with author friends! There are some really great stories in here. I gave it four stars because my contribution was a couple of older stories. (Not my best work.) But just having my name next to Janette Rallison's and the others is so good for my ego. Please feel free to stroke it in your reviews.
