War is coming. The veil between the living and the dead no longer exists. Evil is running rampant and the universe’s symmetry balances on my fingertips. No big deal. Of course, nobody knows how or when the hallows will strike, or who among us is a traitor.
Hordes of vengeful spirits are multiplying by the minute, closing in ranks. Zane is poised to strike, but it’s going to take more than his killer instincts, more than swords and shadows to vanquish the hallows back where they belong. Stakes are higher than ever, yet I am determined to protect those I care about—to save the world.
Restoring the veil isn’t as easy as a snap of my fingertips. Nothing worth fighting for ever is. Friendship and loyalties are tested to the limit, sacrifices of unimaginable proportions are made, but in the end, all that matters is whether I succeed or fail.

I bought and read the book because I wanted to finish the series. Found it way better than the second book. Piper wasn't as insufferable as she was in the second book. What I can't forgive is the book having typo errors, questions unanswered ( what about Rose's other daughter?, who was Heath inside spy?) continuance errors. The author should be more careful during the editing process.

To be fair, I only read this because the first one was such an entertaining trainwreck, and I wanted to see if the author managed to find the plot before the end of the last book. And honestly, it felt like she realized it was the last book in the process of writing it, and started pulling the plot contrivances and McGuffins out of her posterior.
As always, pacing is a huge issue--every once in a while, our heroine or her people pay lip service to people dying because of the reaper war/veil being taken down, but there's no urgency. They wander around eating and gossiping and worrying about getting married/pregnant, and the outside world rarely intrudes. The power couple is so completely self centered that he says nothing about mourning his dead brother, and she has prophetic dreams about her brother being in danger and can't be bothered to even know where he is or what he's doing most days. He is a jealous stalker, and she lies by omission so she can do whatever she wants because he wouldn't want her to do the dangerously stupid things she did, like sneaking directly into her enemy's territory to be a failed spy. But since this writer is all about the protagonist-centered morality, whatever they do is right, and they never suffer real consequences.
The heroine is particularly awful, though, because everyone wants to tell us how wonderful she is. She's so smart and so strong, ghosts come back from the grave to extol her virtues. In the meantime, she gets in a cat fight with a jealous girl, and strips her of her powers and banishes her from her home as punishment (which by the way, had no point in the story--if the girl had come back as a ghost to murder her in revenge, at least there would have been follow-up). She has her man, but is completely jealous of her secondary guy conveniently falling in love with her man's sister (conveniently keeping it in the family), even though he wants to throw his life away and get turned so he can stay and serve her forever. She ignores and belittles her brother at every turn, despite declaring that she wants to protect him and take care of him. She can't wait to wield her power over others and never has any qualms about hurting and killing others. And she still suffers from show, don't tell, so they try to make her sound like the savior of the world even while she ignores widespread death to have milkshakes with her man, which always makes it worse.
To be honest, the hero of this book was not our selfish main heroine or her pseudo bad boy love interest. Instead, it was the actual antihero of the book, an character named Crash who was so paperthin we never learned his real name. He popped up a couple times as the son of our recently discovered big bad to tease and be a cipher, but in this book he provided all the inside information and ultimately won the climax fight by killing his own father for the heroes. At no point did our power couple feel any reason to thank him or bother to be civil, despite the fact that they couldn't have done it without him. Twilight knockoff boyfriend-turned-husband shoved him up against the wall so many times you started thinking they had more sexual tension than him and the main, and honestly I would have given this book 5 stars if it had gone for that plot twist. Instead they found the McGuffin that would seal the veil thanks to the wild card Crash, and he didn't even rate a mention in the epilogue. Neither did her brother--last we left him, he was learning his father was dead so he's left with no one but a sister who can't be bothered to talk to him most of the time. These two characters should have hit the road and left the rest of these jerks behind.
I don't know, the trainwreck comedy wore off in this book, and I was ready for it to be over. I mean, there was still some choice phrasing (someone said "Boom shacka lacka", for real), but it wasn't enough to save the repetitive conversations and lack of any character development. The main characters are terrible, and the plot was full of contrivance and convenience. There's better paranormal romance out there, folks. Go find it.
At the end of book 2, the veil between the afterlife and the human realm was broken so Piper, Zane, and friends are kept busy trying to fight off Hallows before they take over the world. Piper is also tasked with getting the veil back up but doesn't even know where to begin. Instead of heading to the library to research it or contacting her ghost ancestors, she thinks it is more important to solidify her relationship with Zane. It's Crash that finally gives her a clue to how to get the veil rebuilt, then it's a race to do so before the end of the world.
Meh. I feel like this series could have been so much better if a little more time and care was given to the plot development. I really liked the initial tension between Zane and Piper, but it completely fizzled when they decided to give the finger to the council and be together anyway. I also felt like the ending was underwhelming - I expected something big and magical to happen when Piper and Zane's soul symmetry was needed to save the world, and we really didn't get much more than a tiny spark instead of the fireworks I expected. Yet, the underlying premise of the book was interesting and I did like a few of the characters (Crash, Parker, Zane, Zoe, not Piper so much, but whatever). I think when I weigh everything out, I end up with an average rating.
This was a good ending to the series. I will admit that this is my favorite out of the series. Everyone was a lot more likable in this one. The best part was the ending. The author didn't drag it out and everyone was happy.
E io le risponderei ” Anche no, cara mia!

I read the first book a long time ago when I wasn't active on gr. So I never rated it. I like the story and the characters. The adults sometimes are not acting rationally. This time I bought the audiobooks and listened to the series as fast as I could. Took me two days. It was a good plot great characters and I overall enjoyed the whole story.
YES YES YES absolutely loved this book. So glad that Zane finally got his head out of his ass. I would have liked to get to know T.J a little more and maybe have him become a reaper aswell. There are a few things left unanswered but I can get over it for now. My one star drop is due to the spelling errors there seem to be quite a few small mistakes throughout all of the books that really should have been picked up but it was not enough for me to want to.stop reading.
I really enjoyed this. Had more detail information and added more of a twist to who was really up to destroying her. Also loved how there was more of a familiarity to the White Ravens and how they got started with an ancient artifact to help close the veil of the living and the dead.
Much better than the first book, but still a lot of issues with typos, continuance. However I feel like the authors style developed a great deal over the course of this series.
Sigh....... I literally just finished the book. I am adding The Raven Series to my top 10 Best Book Series list. This was an EPIC ending to an incredible series. Fingers crossed that we will be reading more of Arabella in the future. J.L. Weil is an amazing writer!
Overall this was an enjoyable read. Nothing groundbreaking and truthfully the ending seemed a little rushed based on the build up with the previous books. I’d still recommend this series for a quick read with typical YA language and themes
Soul Symmetry is a fitting conclusion to the Raven trilogy by J.L. Weil. The story picks up soon after the second book, Black Crow, ends with Piper's coronation as the queen of the reapers (someone who helps souls cross over into the after life). Piper is finally coming into her own and doesn't seem so obnoxious. As we learned in the first two books, Piper and Zane are more than soulmates, their hearts are synchronized. As such, they can reach out to the other to garner strength and use the other's abilities when they are near each other as well as miles apart. The love scenes are very tastefully done and leave a lot to the reader's imagination. Simply put, Piper, Zane, and a few friends (and at least one frenemy) work together to figure out who is behind the plot to kill off Piper's bloodline and they successfully close the veil between worlds before all of mankind is destroyed. There are a few twists and turns in this one and few very humorous moments with Zane's father, Death.
Caitlin Kelly narrated the Audible version of Soul Symmetry, like she did with the first two stories in the trilogy. Caitlin was simply outstanding. She used differing voices for all characters male and female, and accurately distinguished older characters from younger ones. She also exhibited great pace and urgency in all the appropriate parts. In summary, Caitlin's narration is very engaging and I enjoyed listening to her immensely. I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest unbiased review. Overall - Book/Series 3 Stars and Narration 5 stars.

I gave it only four, because I felt confused at times and had to go back a few pages to re read. Some parts seamed rushed. Especially the ending. I felt like after all those ups and downs, we deserved a more thorough ending to the story . Not just a few paragraphs ! Sometimes I found pipers inner monologue to be redundant and boring. And I felt she was a bit overdramatic at times. Wish she was a little more bad ass when it came to her "epic power" and abilities/combat. I hoped for more character growth. It was a little lack luster in that department. But with all of that aside, I still enjoyed the book very much. Plenty of action and romance. My favorite combo !
This series was amazing!!! I loved how different this series was. Banshees and reapers were very different from what I usually read. The characters were so easy to love. I loved how badass Piper was and how drool worthy Zane was. Really rooted for them. Soul Symmetry was definitely my favorite book of the series. I loved how Zane showed his emotions so much more. I loved the chemistry between Piper and Zane and also the chemistry she had with Parker. I was really sad to see the series end!!! Can't wait for her next series!!!!
I can't even begin to describe how much I loved this trilogy.
I had a feeling I would enjoy this story a lot considering how much I loved J. L. Weil's "Divisia" series, but I didn't think I would fall in love with it as much as I did.
It definitely had a similar feel to "Divisia" A new girl moves to town who's different from all the rest and seems to know nothing about who she really is, a dark, mysterious and brooding love interest and of course a world ending/apocalypse feel. I know stories like this are super cheesy and some readers hate this kind of stuff, but to me it is so addictive! These kinds of stories never get enough hype in my opinion which I think makes them so much better!
So the final battle is upon Raven Hallow and Piper is definitely feeling the stress. Both her and Zane are reeling from the loss of his brother Zander. Of course they wanted nothing more than to be able to be together, but didn't want to lose him just to have that wish granted. Loss is a heavy theme throughout this book and I always like to trigger warn for it because for me it's a rough thing to read through. Many authors use loss and grief as themes throughout their works, but few actually do them justice. You can't write about the loss of someone well if you haven't known that loss. It changes your whole perspective.
This was definitely my favorite book in the series. I loved Zane and Piper's relationship in this book. They have obviously grown much closer and I liked that Zane was working on opening up to Piper a lot more. It was also fun to have Zane be able to read Piper's thoughts because she's so damn funny out loud and even funnier with what she didn't say especially when she was talking about Zane and how attractive he was.
This book had me tearing up at one point when Zane really opened up to Piper and told her how much he loved her and that he was going to love her in this world and whatever came after that. I think everybody wants that. Everyone wants somebody to love them unconditionally because it really is a beautiful thing. The epilogue was sweet and even though it was short and seemed a bit rushed I really enjoyed it. I think it ended the story very well and everything was tied up into a neat bow.
I'm sad to see the story end as with most books I read, but now I get to move on to another beautiful story with new characters, a new world and new adventures. That's my favorite part about ending a story. It makes way for a new story to begin.
Favorite Character: Piper Favorite Chapter(s): 3, 7, 12, 16, 20, 30. Worth The Hype: Even better! Would I recommend: Absolutely worth the read!
Spoilers so stop reading if you haven’t read the whole series! * For the most part I enjoyed this series. My frustration was due to major plot holes and storylines just left hanging. For example Roses funeral, the statues explode and TJ sees this happen and everyone takes off and at no point in the book series did anyone think to go back to Roses final resting place to make sure the coffin made it into the ground or say goodbye or acknowledge or anything. There was no conversation between Death and Piper about him sending reapers to kill Parker. There was no mention of Death and Rose being together to Piper was no conversation about that. Where did all the help and staff of the manor go? Did Piper ever finish high school did Parker ever get his high school diploma did he go to art school? How are all the bad reapers able to get onto the property? Why was there no mention of any bruising or marks on Piper when she was attacked in her bedroom the next day? How did Rose not hear all the attacks that have been in Pipers bedroom? There were just so many things you as a reader are just expected to accept it and move on. I read the whole series because I had to see how it would end or if any of my many, many questions would be answered alas, they were not.
Probably the best of the series, but far from perfect. So many unanswered questions. So many threads still dangling. Not a word about Piper's real father. Who he was, how he died, why he died. Not a word about Rose's other daughter, who was mentioned in passing in the first book, and the crime committed in the Manor. Not a word about how Piper's stepfather died in the second book. Not a word about Zander aside from a brief apparition at the end of the book. Wasn't he supposed to spy for Piper? Now it's clear that he was killed just because the author had no idea on how to come out of the corner she'd written herself into. Not a word about Zane's mother. She just lost her son and she never appears on the page.
And what was that bitch move with Venus? It was absolutely excessive, a tyrant move. I already hated that Piper took her powers, but to banish her? I mean, she was just a jealous girl.
Crash is the real hero of this book. Without him, they would still be there wondering what to do about the Veil. And I don't think anybody ever thanked him.
Not a series I will reread!

Usually when I finish a book in less than a day is a huge sign that the book is great. Well not in this case 😅 it definitely wasn’t my cup of tea, I actually skipped some chapters and still got to understand everything.... the story had a huge potencial, I’m not saying I could do better, but it didn’t call to me, to my soul as usually these types of books do...
I just wanted it to end. I really liked zane because, even though not at 100%, he seemed like the most normally-written characters, meaning that his actions were always coherent with his character. the romance/sexual build up scenes were actually well constructed in terms of the reader being able to understand the temperature rising, and eventually, relate to those feelings.
I don’t know! I don’t know how to explain how much this series didn’t call to me...............2 stars was me being nice, because the world and the story had potential.
Piper and Zane go through hell, being in love, forced to be together so he could train her, but told that she had to marry the son of the man who orchestrated the death of Piper's Mother, Grandmother, and what was happening to the world right now! The Hallows were attacking more and more around the country, New Orleans and Lad Vegas had been hit. They were doing the best they could, until they get a tip that there is a way to end the fight, turn back the Hallows, and make everything the way it was. But before that can happen, Piper and Zane have to go against the Council, find a lost heirloom, and wage the battle of their lives! These three books were very intriguing, and though the series is complete, it seems to me, there could be more to write about! I love these books!
The one problem I have about books like this where it talks about souls being “connected” is the fact that many young adults who read this will be disillusioned by thinking that relationships are like this in real life. This book was very similar to Twilight, except instead of vampires, you have death reapers. In fact, I’m quite surprised that the writer of the twilight series didn’t have a problem with this one.
Another problem I had was the fact that the female character had a hard time living without the male counterpart. It’s almost like she couldn’t function without him and that is a wrong thing to teach young girls.
The narrator was very good which made listening to this book a little more bearable. I got impatient towards the end and just wanted the book to end so I could move onto another one.
>Book Review – Soul Symmetry >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Raven series and ends in an HEA. I still didn’t understand the different reapers, but at this point in the series, I was really more invested in Zane and Piper. They decide to take fate in to their own hands and marry before Piper is forced to marry someone not of her choosing. The wedding and their romance is very sweet. There aren’t any erotic scenes. Their physical relationship is very G rated, but still very romantic. >The conflict regarding the veil between the living and the dead is resolved, with a lot of help from the dead. Parker’s character has a huge plot twist, as does Crash. Crash was set up to be a bad guy, but ends up to be a huge help. >This book is appropriate for a young adult (16+) audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. The series as a whole is fun to read.
So many questions, so many annoyances. How did the step dad die? And why did he come as a hallow trying to kill Piper? How many times can I ask how stupid Piper is? Gives promises to stay behind, rushes forward. Says she won’t go out alone, constantly escapes protective services. How come Zane didn’t get a distress signal when Venus was drowning Piper? And she never even tells him about it?? Why does Venus take forever on confrontation anyways, they’d been together forever at this point of attack. A warning and then attack to listen? Really? The back and forth I love you screw the spoken duty vs you need to do everything the elders say drove me insane the entire trilogy. Zander said he would be the connection from the other side and then NEVER mentioned in aide on figuring the veil. Roarke is the bomb though. Claiming Zane. Marrying them. The. Bomb.
Piper has been officially ‘crowned’ The White Raven but in the process has lost her dad and her fiancé. Now all that’s left of her family is her brother, TJ and her BF, Parker. But she also has joined souls with Zane, the love of her life and the two of them will find a way to fight the Hallows and bring balance back to the world.
Piper spends way too much time running away from her guards and the one who ‘can’t bear be away from’. All Zane seems to be good for is the sex scenes and bragging about how good he is and how much he loves her. Come on, they should be a more dedicated couple by now. This is more about Piper and Crash.
Fave scenes: Aspyn’s great idea, Piper standing up to the council, the fight with & punishment of Venus and changing Parker.
