Giants on Record: America's Hidden History, Secrets in the Mounds and the Smithsonian Files

Rate this book
Over a 200-year period thousands of newspaper reports, town and county histories, letters, photos, diaries, and scientific journals have documented the existence of an ancient race of giants in North America. Extremely tall skeletons ranging from 7 feet up to a staggering 18 feet tall have been uncovered in prehistoric mounds, burial chambers, caves, geometric earthworks, and ancient battlefields. Strange anatomic anomalies such as double rows of teeth, horned skulls, massive jaws that fit over a modern face, and elongated skulls have also been reported. Many of these discoveries were reported to have been sent to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., seemingly never to be heard about again. The Smithsonian's own records describe at least 17 giant skeletons in annual reports. This book examines a possible cover-up initiated by Smithsonian scientists starting in the late 1800s. The origins of “the tall ones” has been shrouded in mystery for centuries, but this book reveals where they came from, why they got so large, and the reason for their downfall, using the latest scientific research, genetic data, native myths, news reports, and ethnological research. This has become one of the most gripping stories of the last few centuries and for the first time the truth of the giants of North America has been revealed. This book will also show - How early explorers to America witnessed these giants first-hand, including Sir Francis Drake, John Smith and even some of the early presidents. - Legends and myths that talk of cannibalistic, red-haired giants. - Strange inscriptions, metal armor, mummified remains, and sophisticated technologies buried with the skeletons. - How secret societies such as the Rosicrucians, Freemasons and Theosophists all claim the existence of giant humans in the past as historical fact in their literature. - How the giants may be connected to the Denisovans from Siberia, the Nephilim of Bible tradition, and other ancient cultures.

This is a really interesting book, many examples of Giant remains being found in America and reported in many newspaper in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. Discusses a possible coverup by the smithsonian museum since none of the specimens remain and the possible origins of these people usually between 7 and 9ft tall. Very intriguing and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Awesome evidence-based book. Just an incredible read. I couldn't put the book down. There were giants that's for sure.

A good overview of the subject. Covers the North American mound builder giants well, with some good analysis. Having read several books on the North American giants, I still found valuable new information in this book. The conclusion of the book had some very interesting analyses and insights. Unfortunately the book doesn't take the ancient Isle Royale copper mines into account, which should be a key piece of information in any treatment of the mound builders and their giants. Despite its shortcomings, this book is a well-written, well-researched, and welcome addition to my library on the subject. Like Dewherst's "The Ancient Giants Who Ruled America", it's a good introduction to the subject with something to offer someone already familiar with it.

The single best reference available on the legacy of the races on giants, as discovered with incontrovertible evidence in NORTH AMERICA in the past few centuries.

A prime example of what Charles Fort might have called "damned," lockers full of evidence that at least some of the things we know about pre-Columbian America are dead wrong. I liked this book by far the most when it stuck to recounting and reprinting authentic 19th and early 20th Century discoveries of buried giants, many of them with double rows of teeth, and some interred with what look like Phoenician amulets. Whether the data represents exactly what it says, or an equally unlikely collection of press hoaxes, FOAF stories, infectious folklore, and outright deceptions, the compilation is impressive. Where the book fell apart for me was in its wilder stretches -- ancient magnetic technologies, Atlantis, etc. -- and those reaches erode the weight of its crumbling paper foundations. The woo woo is forgivable though because so much of the rest of the book reads like goofy pulp fiction -- two-fisted, thoroughly amateur archaeologists, blundering their way through the Adena culture, finding wonders that will be suppressed by an evil eugenics-minded Smithsonian. No one could make this stuff up.

Oh, wait. Yes they could.

And the question remains where the heck have all those unfortunate rattled bones been hidden away in the Smithsonian 🧐? Unless they have all been returned to the first nations and laid back to rest which would be awesome but might not be the case.

A flourishing with a peacock feather hats off to Jim, his brother and Hugh (and all those around) for this magnificent and eye/ear/mind opening collection and incentive to staying tuned or do one’s own look into the realm of the tall ones.
Myself am a tall woman of 6.5 feet (Luxembourg, Europe), all my granduncles were lanky and tall lads too. We cousins inherited the trade though not so much our parents. With all the remarks from people: gosh you are tall … it always felt like a disease and I sometimes cursed them for it. Self realisation and confidence in being a strong tall woman have rid me of this thinking and feel much more inclined to count me to a thousand times removed Tall One 🤩 …

There appears to be a written history of 'giants' in American history. Numerous examples cited and it does raise some interesting question needed for further research. One thing that seems to be a constant is the Smithsonian Institute. What most people don't realize is that while the Smithsonian receives Federal money, it has no connection to the Government at all and is a private organization.

It has the ability to lock secrets away and out of reach to all. The real question behind all of this is who would benefit from the lack of knowledge about giants? I have no idea who would find pushback from a sudden revelation that there were giants, except for some old historians stuck with an outdated human history of mankind, who else these people would be.

I bought this book at a lecture event by Hugh Newman and Jim Viera in Glastonbury and had it signed by both authors thankfully. I love alternative views on our ancient hidden past and I'm a firm believer that colossal men once walked the earth as genesis references. This book which compiles countless numbers of cases from all over the planet just reaffirms my belief in giants and that certain institutions are clearly covering up these giant discoveries. Viera and Newman who I highly rate and who's an excellent speaker have done an exceptional job at bringing a hidden past to the masses accompanied by incredible photographic evidence within. If your of the curious mind and are interested in a hidden past then you owe it to yourself to add this solid book to your collection.

The biggest drawback of this book, in my opinion (aside from referencing the various -osophists and Cayce as some sort of legitimate authority), is that while the authors are meticulous researchers, they are not scholars. They have pooled a tremendous and almost mind-numbingly monotonous amount of research into one place, but do not really take it anywhere beyond "giants are/were real, here's the evidence." The term 'scatter gun' comes to mind. A better approach would have been to severely narrow their focus down to individual states or counties. Read it, then return it.

Did an ancient race of giants once inhabit North America? The authors collect hundreds of newspaper articles, eyewitness testimonies and museum records from the last 200 years that detail the finding of thousands of skeletons measuring in excess of 6, 7, 8 and 9 feet in length.
This is a thoroughly fascinating investigation into the discoveries and coverups that have occurred surrounding these “giant” skeletons.

Very Insight worth the read

I really liked the stories and clarification of how much of history has oppressed what some consider as history to be revoked mythology and legends of fairytale

While I'm not convinced that 7-foot people qualify as "giants," I'm ultimately intrigued by the rest of the historical records the authors compiled, including jaw bones that fit over a normal man's face, double rows of teeth, three or four foot femurs, 8+ foot giant skeletons, etc.

This book really makes you think about what has been lost to the ravishes of time and government cover up. With multiple of news paper sources it paints a wide picture of the history of giants in America. I loved this book.
