I’m an activist. An anti-war activist. I attend Berkeley, protest the wars and march for peace. At least I used to.

Then I met Hunter. I didn’t realize he was a Marine until it was too late. When I went on a rant about the wars on our first date I thought that was the end when Hunter left. Fate had other ideas.

Fate brought us back together, gave us another chance. But I ruined that one too. There was no way an anti-war activist and Marine could ever find love. Right? But fate wasn’t done with us yet.

Our third chance came when Hunter told me he was going to war. That got my attention but could he accept my beliefs? Could I love the man even if I hated the mission? Could two people from two different worlds find love?

Hunter is a standalone novella with a happily-ever-after and is the next book in the relaunch of D.H. Cameron’s wildly popular Big Girls & Bad Boys collection. Included is Softail Curves, the very first series in the Big Girls & Bad Boys collection and one of the books that started the whole motorcycle club craze.

This Marine finds a war not in the battlefield, but in love...I really enjoyed the entire storyline. You have a strong woman Melinda with very strong beliefs. You also have a strong Hero, Hunter a marine that will do anything to fight for our country. After meeting at a frat party, a few drinks and they end up in each other's arms, and more. The Second time doesn't go so smoothly , Melinda not knowing Hunter is a marine starts ranting about her being a war activist. It hits a huge nerve with Hunter, and he takes off not wanting to talk to her again. Fate not allowing that to happen, and they find each other again. After talking they realize they aren't that much different, but how can a Marine an a war activist really make anything work? She finds out her true beliefs, she doesn't hate the actual military, but also is starting to realize they aren't victims she once saw them to be.. I think a lot of what she thought she believed was because of her roommate Daisy, a hardcore activist hating the military all together. Being afraid though she lets him go again, until something happens that brings him back to her once again. Deploying to Iraq, and this time she's truly scared, and they both know it's time to put everything out on the table. His family fully supports there decision, they love Melinda as if she were there own, and gains a lot more then she ever thought possible. I did not give this 5 Stars, but also didn't put it as low as a 3 were because of these reasons I really loved the storyline, the plot, and the characters, But I didn't like how the conversing was written between the characters. There was to much of "Hunter said this" "Melinda said that" in the book. there are many times, when reading that you know who is saying what, and it kinda felt like I was reading something like how a younger kids book would be written with the understanding of the he said this, she said that , and it was becoming overwhelming at times for myself. If the dialogue was better written I definitely would have given it 5 Stars. Check out the book, and enjoy the lives of Hunter, and Melinda, and Hunters very open, and somewhat crazy family :) I was given this book in return of an honest review

WOW, this book was so good and very heart warming. I had received this book for an honest review and once again D.H. Cameron has not disappoint. This was truly an amazing book.

Melinda was one that did not believe in war. She and her friend Daisy felt like war and the ones that fought in war were the problem. They did not see what the soldiers were doing was giving us another day of freedom.

Melinda liked Hunter right off. Hunter was like the perfect guy. See Melinda was not one of those skinny girls that men chased after. She was beautiful and curvy. Hunter let her know off the bat that he loved that.

Hunter was in the marines. He was in it until the end. He believed in fighting for freedom and for our country. He was proud and loved what he does. Once Melinda found out they did not see eye to eye. I busted out laughing at their first date. It was just funny as all get out. Hunter let Melinda know right off where he stood. Loved it!!!

Seemed like fate brought Hunter and Melinda back together. In all truth Melinda changed Hunter and Hunter changed Melinda. They were just what each other needed. They were starting to fall in love.

I have to add that I loved Hunters family. His mom was a hoot. You can not read this book and not laugh and fall in love with Hunters family. They are truly something.

There came a time where Hunter was going to be deployed. The thing about being a solider is you face reality and treasure the things that are dear to you heart. You have to learn to be honest with yourself about the things that are important to you and that is what Hunter was faced with. Melinda meant the world to him. Now knowing there could be a chance that he might not return he had to tell Melinda. He has some important things he wanted to tell her and to ask her. Melinda must make a decision about her and Hunter. Can they over look their different?

D.H. Cameron is an amazing author. I have read a couple of her books before and loved them. This one I felt really touched my heart. I guess because I hold a special place for active Military men and Veterans. This is a book you should not miss out on.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and here it is.

Question: What happens when a anti-war activist meets a Marine? Answer: Sparks fly.

Mel, our heroine, is in her last year of college when she meets Hunter, our hero, at a frat party. She's his type, a BBW, and they hit it off in a major way, barely exchanging names before having sex in a secluded area of campus. This is definitely and age 18+ story.

Mel and Hunter agree to go out to dinner the following evening, which is when Mel discovers that Hunter is a lifer in the Marines, and sparks of a very different sort begin to fly. The two argue, and Hunter gets up, pays for their dinner, and leaves Mel to find her own way back to her dorm.

These two bump into one another again serving a holiday meal at a local homeless shelter just before Christmas. Hunter eventually invites Mel to join him at his family's home for the holidays. This part of the book is perhaps the most charming and entertaining I've read in some time. Hunter's family is an absolute hoot. I won't spoil it by telling you why, but this family is the family I wished I had belonged to back when I was in college protesting the Vietnam War.

There are quite a few surprises to follow (you'll get no spoilers from me), and while I found this an enjoyable read, it did seem a bit rushed to me, and I would have preferred that this be a longer novel which would have given the reader more time to really know and understand these characters, and for the characters to get to know and understand each other more fully.

ARC given in exchange for an honest review

The author does it again with this story, she brings you a story that you get hooked to from the beginning with the writing. This is a quick read but it's so worth it. If you love military men and BBW then you'll love this book.

A Marine and anti-war activist together? not possible but then again who's to say that your heart doesn't tell you what you want, your heart tells you want it needs. In this story a Marine and activist are joined together but that's not how it started.

Mel is the anti-war activist and but is also finishing up college. She goes out to a party and meets Hunter. She adores his body and when they escape together it's a night she can't forget. When they go on a date, she learns that he is a Marine after she rants about the war. When said words get heated Hunter walks out and she doesn't see him again, for months. Fate seems to step in and by the third time - Mel knows that this is her destiny.

Hunter is proud to be a Marine and fight for his country. He goes to a college party and meets Mel and can't keep his eyes off her beautiful sexy body. They go somewhere for an amazing night and one that sticks in his brain. When he finds out Mel is a anti-war activist things change and he walks away. He only wishes that it didn't. When he has a third chance, he will do what he can to make sure he keeps her.

This book is heart touching and filled with love. You get to feel the love form and stick with characters till the very end.

Great job to the author on another amazing book. I highly recommend.
